Viva Birria

Ive been here a couple of times and as a LA native, this place definitely makes tacos that remind me of home. There is only outdoor seating so I would keep that in mind if you plan on visiting during colder weather. But The tacos were delicious and I got way more queso and chips than I was expecting. They were sold out the last time I stopped by so that should give you a good idea of the quality of the food.

Let me tell you, I never write reviews but this places deserved it! Bronson took care of me, my husband and mother in law and we had the best experience. Fantastic tacos, guacamole, salsa and chips! Thanks again and we can’t wait to visit next time we’re in nyc.

After a long day of exploring the city, we wanted something good to eat. Thankfully, we drove past Viva Birria. This place was great!!! It was 1am on a Saturday night, and it was super busy around there due to the bars, but we were lucky enough to find a park. Once we got there, we ordered tacos (one steak and one pork), a quesadilla, birria nachos, and the corn appetizer. Best decision. My mother, who doesn't really eat spicy food, was able to devour the beef quesadilla. The pork had a sweetness to it that had us pleasantly surprised. The nachos are simple yet amazing. It was a lot of food, but all of it was super good. They have a cute little patio space to eat in front of the spot. We will definitely be going back.

Love the design of this “food truck” stand that’s really a permanent hole in the wall. The lady told me it was authentic Mexican tacos - so being a little too tipsy to say no I gave it a try. I have to say I was amazed at the bursting of flavors this taco had. My only complaint is that it felt $1.50 overprice. However it is NYC so that’s to be expected. The service was quite and the staff super nice. Would stop by if you’re hungry for amazing tacos 🌮

I’ll start by saying the service was fine, pleasant and fast and no mistakes were made. Nothing special, but the bare minimum was met. Now for what we came here for… the tacos. These were a miss on sooo many fronts. Another review said “they offer something they don’t have”. Spot on - these aren’t legit birria! Birria should be served with thick and meaty sauce on the side. The consome served with these tacos were so watery that I almost thought they didn’t give me the sauce - no meat and totally greasy. Considering they’re cutting costs for what they put in the sauce their scant portion size was also shocking. Also disappointed to only get one tiny slice of lime for my three tacos. All this was shocking because the whopping three taco combo price came out to $16.23, which is the most expensive birria I’ve had in the city. Now, I’d be willing to pay that price for great tacos and atmosphere, but the tacos were subpar and the atmosphere was worse. Viva Birria is an order window with nowhere to sit or open public parks nearby, so you end up needing to eat the messy tacos standing on the street. This is something I’m game for, but not for the expensive price point and bad food. Needless to say I won’t be returning. Anyone giving this place a high rating is from out of town. These tacos are highly priced for nyc and the worst quality birria I’ve ever had. Came away with the perception that they are marketing toward tourists and jacking up the prices rather than trying to serve high quality, legit tacos. Look elsewhere in nyc if you want good birria.

The vegan birria tacos were fantastic. The jackfruit was so soft and the overall flavor was perfect. They were also gluten free which we love to see. I will definitely be getting these again.

The vegan birria didn’t live up the hype for me. The consommé was sweet and not spicy at all.

Pretty good, not authentic but imaging Taco Bell at its best. Fish was little skinny but okay.

Small place but it stands out. Amazingly fresh! Couple tables out front. The gentleman was so nice when ordering and was told it would be a 5 minute wait, but it was way quicker. I was very pleased.

Pretty good Birria tacos, got the spicy beef option but wasn't spicy at all, the 3 combo comes with a salsa and chips, the salsa was delicious! They have a small seating area outside and very fast at serving.

This place was yummy! I was so excited to find a place that did vegetarian birria. It's a small shop with a few outdoor tables to grab a quite bite. It's reasonably priced and pretty quick service. I liked the taco - the filling was good but I wish the birria was slightly thicker so i could scoop it up into my birria for a bigger flavor punch

Randomly walked by and decided to try the tacos. These are very good. We ordered Al pastor and quesotaco beef Biria tacos and they were very good. The Al pastor were better than the birria. We received free salsa and chips on the side which were fresh. If you are in the area give this spot a try.

consistently good Went here because I was vegan Birria, travelled from Nj to get it and was not disappointed! Out of 10 times I go to nyc, I'll stop here at least 4-5 times! Get it - you won't regret it !

Cute hole in the wall spot where it's meant for to go tacos and they had red tacos which caught my eye and it was buy 3 get free chips and guacamole so that's what I got. They were birriria tacos with consome. Overall good consome and the tacos are a good late night snack.

Delicious tacos best for a grab and go on the run station. Great combo options with something for everyone, beef, chicken, veggie options. Guac and chips also are also standard, fresh and tasty. The food is made to order fresh and fast. Service is prompt and nice! Will be back here I'm sure.

This place was damned good, I bought it two days in a row. I stumbled on this literal hole in the wall place in LES and was so pleasantly surprised. The first day I bought tacos, the second day tacos and a chalupa. I got the vegan and vegetarian tacos, of which one has yuca as a filling! The tacos were delicious and I enjoyed the dipping sauce. This was my first time trying Birria food and now it's my favorite type of Latin American food.

Omg' bomb ass tacos! They were filled to the brim with goodness, and they were crispy!! Win! Win!!! The consome was a great dipping sauce that made the tacos sooo much more flavorful. They gave us free chips, and guacamole was $3 extra. The guacamole was good!! It had a hint of sweetness which was nice. All in all, definitely 5 stars. I will return cuz these were sooooo good!! Vegan drunk food heaven! We got the guac and vegan birria tacos and both were so good!! This guac was extremely tasty and the chips were fresh, crunchy and perfectly salty. If you're vegan you have to try this spot. My friend got the chimichanga and was in heaven so that's probably a great option if you eat meat.

The food is amazing and so are the people there. The service was fast and the food was fulfilling and had undeniable flavors! The environment is nice and the outdoor seating is good, as long as the weather is nice. 9/10 would recommend everything was amazing.

We walked by this late at night and thought the store front was super cute. Ordered some tacos and quesadillas to give it and try and now I'm hooked! The tacos were bomb and the quesadillas were okay. We got the beef but will be back to try the other flavors!

A new birria taco spot located in the bustling Lower East Side neighborhood. It's a "to-go" spot with a dope design. The staff are very friendly and they are reasonably priced, especially for the amount of food you get. I ordered the beef birria nachos ($13) and I devoured it. So delicious! They were gracious enough to throw in a birria taco for free to try since it's what they're known for. Easily the best birria taco in the Lower East Side that I've tried so far. Wow! They are so worthy of a visit over and over again.

The food here was delicious! I had the vegan birria tacos and the nachos. Both were bursting with flavor - spiciness and tanginess from the tacos, and freshness and richness from the nachos. This was a fantastic meal. There's only limited outdoor seating, so takeout might be the best option.

This place has a vegan birria taco option!!! It is a jackfruit taco which I added some oxacan cheese to (vegetarian instead of vegan). This is by far my favorite place in nyc already and I cannot wait to go back. I've already recommended the vegan birria to a few friends and they all have also really loved it

Totally worth the drive. The Birria tacos and consomé are delicious. I think they recently changed chef's because the food tastes even better than before and it was always good!

I'm from California and all birria spots at home don't fuck around when it comes to birria. This spot honestly was the best birria I ever had and I don't think I'll be able to eat the from the spots at home ever again.

The place is a little window outside on the street and I wasn't expecting much from here because the price seemed pretty reasonable. I ordered for pickup and the tacos were neatly arranged and packaged safely when I opened the box. A lot of meat was inside each taco and I wasn't able to finish all the chips they gave me. I would go back here if I was in the area and wanted something both filling and reasonably priced.

The best birria I've ever had, HANDS down, and super affordable! It's hard to miss the adorable food truck in the wall facade, and the cozy seating area out front. Every time I go here I try something new, the beef tacos and quesadilla are my favorites. Each bite is savory, your taste buds dance, juice drips down to your wrists, but you don't care. You just reach for a third taco. Big shoutout to the staff for always being amazing and bringing the fire, see y'all again soon!

The vegan jackfruit birria tacos were so rich in flavor, my friend and I had to double check to make sure they were actually vegan (yes, they are!). I wish I could learn how to make these myself. Getting these to-go would be the best option, but they do have a couple tables set up outside of their stand to sit and eat if you desire. The staff was nice and quick to get the orders out.

The service was good however I ordered vegan birria tacos made with jackfruit and was given tacos made with just potatoes. I don't mind them changing the vegan options I know it's the reality of things however they should have indicated this at check out or even on the menu. My server even said they came with jackfruit.

This place was a gem! I was looking for a quick bite and this was right arlund the corner. I opted for their $20 Delux Barria meal which was worth it. The salsa was amazing. The guacamole could use more spicy and lime. The tacos were delicious. I'd recommend you eat them asap because one got soggy when I ordered it to go. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy. I wasn't sure, but I dipped it in the sauce they provided (or soup like item in White Styrofoam container)- mind blown. I do wish it was a bit more spicier!

oh my god. it's amazing. the food is phenomenal; i had three pork birria tocos and i finished them so quickly they were the best thing i've had today! the service was super quick and they were really nice with all of the members in my party definitely will be coming back :))

Incredible flavor and some of the best birria tacos I have had in New York City. I love the chicken tacos.

Pretty good food. I like that they offer a meal option which makes you feel like you get a bit more bang for your buck. I've only ordered from them once but I plan on coming back again.

We stumbled on Viva Birria while looking for a place to eat and it was the perfect dinner on a warm evening. We had the beef tacos and the al pastor tacos which were both delicious! They came with a side of slaw as well. The portions are a little small but not outside of the norm for NYC to me. And they have some tables set up outside which was really great. Would definitely come back.

Really cute on the go place! The woman working there was super friendly. When I opened my box I was pretty disappointed they were super small. They were pretty good tasting but not the best tacos I've ever had. You're better off going to a taco truck in the east village where the portions are bigger and cheaper.

Great tacos- perfect for on the go or just a quick bite out front. The 3 taco special is a great deal as well.

This is my new favorite taco spot in NYC they have the most delicious Birria made to order tacos, I've ever had. All the food is fresh and super savory. I really like their concept and service too. Its chilled cool ambience. 5 stars well deserved.
