The Best Coffee Shops in Denver | Eater Denver

"Bright colors, folk art displays, and Latin music spread cheer throughout this little virtual escape to Mexico, where all the standard pours are supplemented by the likes of cinnamon-spiked cafe de olla, spiced mochas, and the sweet frozen coffee concoction called a raspadito. Eats like molletes, tostadas de tinga, and chilaquiles verdes complete the sunny picture." - Ruth Tobias

Popped in on a whim for a coffee while waiting for an appointment nearby and will DEFINITELY be back. The Latte de Olla was amazing and I haven't found one as good since leaving Texas. Dulce de Leche pastry and Guava cream cheese pastry were both absolutely delicious. Service was friendly and fast and the seating was plentiful both inside and outside. Easy parking on the side street. Great spot!!

Excellent authentic espresso drinks, super friendly service, & a chill atmosphere. I'm so glad I dropped in! This is just the kind of place East Colfax needs, & yes COLFAX IS OPEN. Despite what you might hear, access is easy peasy. I hear they also have live music some nights, so I'll definitely be back

This was my third time coming here and I’m officially obsessed! The vibe is super cool and welcoming, but the real stars are the food and service. I usually go for the latte de olla (so good!) and the molletes, absolutely bomb every time. This visit I tried the ham & cheese croissant, fully loaded, and wow… not sure what magic they put in their bread but it’s chef’s kiss. Everything feels made with so much love, and I’m pretty sure it’s family-owned, which makes it even better. Highly recommend 10/10!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ New favorite coffee shop in Denver! I’m visiting from Chicago and my family loves checking out local coffee shops wherever we go. Viva Mexican Coffee Shop is the first spot we tried in Denver and honestly might be the only one we visit this trip because it’s that good. We ordered a café con leche and a café de olla con leche, and I have never tasted coffee this delicious. Perfectly balanced, rich, and full of flavor without being overly sweet. We also shared a Cubana sandwich and… OMG. I could not believe how good it was. Every bite was incredible. The concha we had literally melted in my mouth and was the perfect sweet finish. It takes a lot to impress me enough to sit down and write a detailed review, but Viva absolutely earned it. If you’re in Denver and love coffee (or great food in general), you need to come here.

Wednesday, March 19, 2025 JULIETS coffee group visited VIVA! Mexico Cafe thanks to Pat's recommendation! It was wonderful. Great Huckleberry Coffee. The toast with beans, meat (ham, steak, or chorizo) melted cheese topped with avocado, chopped tomato, and onion was delicious based on five JULIET reviews. The cafe is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Street parking on Eudora. Owners: Husband and wife Elisa Garcia and Leonardo Munoz-Corona (Leo/chef). Daniel was our barista. Leo was very gracious, explained the menu items we were not familiar with, and showed us the freshly baked rolls and pastries. Highly recommend it and will be back as a regular.

The best “Chivita” torta I’ve ever had: fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared, and absolutely delicious 🤤. Every bite is full of flavor and authenticity. And don’t miss the café lechero with this special pro tip: ask for two shots of syrup de olla — it’ll make your day instantly better. 🌟 A spot that delivers quality, flavor, and that homemade touch that makes it unique. Highly recommended!

Lovely Mexican coffee shop with wonderful sandwiches and drinks. The whole place is so bright and beautiful. There’s also a small arts and crafts section. I had El Capital and loved the flavors.

Google
My new favorite coffee shop in Denver! Fresh pastries, quality coffee with a Mexican flare and a venue filled with art and creativity. Did you know their bookcase opens up into a stage? Many exciting plans for this new little coffee shop in the Parkhill Denver area! The owners are artists themselves and put their own personal touches. Excited to have this in my neighborhood. Definitely check it out! You won’t regret it!

Yelp
What a lovely coffee shop! As soon as I saw tostadas and chilaquiles on the menu, I knew I had to come visit. The portions are perfect, they don't skimp out on the amount of chicken on the tostada or the chilaquiles. And it all tasted so fresh! I love how bright and lovely the interior is and the Mexican decor on the walls. The staff is very helpful and friendly. This is the perfect spot to come hangout with friends or work, and it offers plenty of seating too!

Yelp
As the founder of a local ladies networking group in Denver, I was thrilled to host one of our first events at Viva Mexi Coffee Shop, a delightful Latin-accented coffee shop that serves in-house pastries and prepared foods. Being women-owned and operated, it was the perfect venue for our gathering. Upon arrival, I noticed there was some construction nearby, which made parking a bit tricky. However, the effort was worth it for the experience that awaited us inside. I ordered a Chai Latte and decided to try something new for breakfast--the Molletes de Chorizo. This was my first time having this dish, and I found it to be quite interesting and enjoyable! The staff was very accommodating, ensuring that our group had everything we needed as we gathered and talked. The coffee shop offers a great amount of seating, making it a comfortable spot for meetings and socializing. The decor is beautifully designed with an artsy and Latin-accented inspiration, creating a vibrant atmosphere that adds to the overall experience. It's a feast for the eyes! Viva Mexi Coffee Shop is a fantastic place to gather, work, or enjoy a meal with friends. I look forward to returning for future events and trying more of their delicious offerings!

Yelp
Thought this place was so cute! Loved the vibe and decor. Came here at 11:30 on a Friday and found street parking easily. The coffee shop was busy but died down pretty quickly. By the time my friend and I left around 1:00 pm, we were the only ones in the shop. I got a Café de Olla with oat milk and an almond croissant. Both things were decent and I had a great chat here with my friend!

Yelp
Guava cheese pastry was delicious, as is the ham and cheese croissant. Latte de olla is a fantastic drink. I think the Latte de Olla and a Guava Cheese pastry makes for the perfect coffee house experience. The owner is behind the counter and loves to explain all his drinks and recipes. Very friendly and cool. 5 star drinks good and service. 4 stars because the seating is a little stiff.

Yelp
I will definitely be back to Viva soon! The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful. Highly recommend the loaded ham and cheese croissant. The decor inside is vibrant, colorful and fun! There is plenty of seating and the staff was extremely friendly.

Yelp
This place is so special. Everything about it -- the coffee drinks (Huckleberry Roaster beans and unique Mexican inspired offerings), the house made pastries (the almond croissant! I dream about it!), made to order chilaquiles on the weekends, the super kind staff, the ambiance - perfection. Try the Latte de Olla, or the Mexican Mocha.

Yelp
NEW BUSINESS ALERT I don't go home to Mexico often anymore so I have learnt to love those little moments when I'm instantly brought back via food or vibe. @vivamexicoffeeshop did that for me and has become one of my favorite coffee shops and they just opened last week! Their coffee is fantastic (they use huckleberry roasters) and I am already such a big fan! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and the vibe is just the same. You can tell the passion and hard work they have put into @vivamexicoffeeshop from the moment you walk in. MY ORDER: over two visits, I ordered Lechero, Cafe de Olla Latte, chocolate concha, and chicken chilaquiles (weekend special) BEST BITE/SIP: I loved everything I had but the lechero was such a hit for me! Basically, you pour just boiled milk from high up to give the drink the creaminess and foamy texture - it was absolutely delicious! Their iced latte de olla was also amazing featuring their house made syrup made with Mexican rock sugar and cinnamon). PLUS their chilaquiles verde con pollo!?? ‍! It's always a treat when I get to eat a concha and theirs was 10/10.

Yelp
Beautiful Mexican coffee shop restaurant with plenty of tables available. Pretty good coffee and pastries. We got cafe de olla, guava cream cheese knot, and chocolate croissant. The pastries were not fresh but next time, I'm gonna ask if they could heat up the pastries to warm it up.

Yelp
Super cute new addition to the neighborhood. Coffee and pastries with a Mexican flair. I'm only sad that I wasn't here on the weekend to get chilaquiles. I will be back!

Yelp
Every time I visit Viva Mexi I leave with a happy tummy, tastefully thirst quenched and a smile on my face. Excellent espresso, superlative pastries baked on the premises, chilaquiles that are off the chain, and great specials in a very artistic gallery setting. Add to this, an outstanding and friendly staff. I can't wait until they expand the menu!

Yelp
The Latte de Olla is fantastic and the Guava Cream Cheese Braid is delicious! Very friendly service and fun atmosphere! This is a great new spot in the Hale/Park Hill neighborhood!

claudia f.

Yelp
Service was slow not prepared for success not enough staff Coffee took 20 minutes long line out the door Cafe de olla was not traditional If you want a place to just sit a long time it's your place

Yelp
Went in excited to try this coffee shop. I drive by all the time, but it was TikTok that really brought me here. When I walked in a young lady barely greeted me. I did let her know my order was Togo, but she must've forgotten. And that's okay. My problem was the customer service. She packed my pastry, and left it on the other side of the counter and walked away. Though I was waiting for it. An older gentleman grabbed it and gave it to me apologizing for the confusion. I will give it another try because the coffee and pastry were good.

Yelp
Viva is a charming and comfortable coffee shop in the heart of East Denver. With its Mexican theme and art, it is a unique spot. The coffee is great, the baked goods and Mexican breakfasts are wonderful. So glad it's here! We look forward to visiting many more times.

Vicki T.

Yelp
A welcome addition to East Colfax, serving a chilaquiles weekend special and the best Mexican mocha for miles! Cozy ambience, lots of locals -- light on parking (limited to street). Perfect morning hangout!

Gabe D.

Yelp
Love this place, great addition to the neighborhood. Good coffee, tasty looking food, looks like they're also trying to be a true third space with some occasional live music and things like that.

Christine B.

Yelp
Great addition to the Mayfair/Hale/Park Hill neighborhoods! My husband and I stopped in over the weekend for their Chilaquiles special, a pastry and coffees. Everything was great! We look forward to coming back to this cute coffee shop soon!
