The Best Restaurants in Sebastopol | Eater SF

"Viva Mexicana has been a Sebastopol institution since 1986; in the past 10 years owner Sima Mohamadian has added more organic and local produce to the menu. The flavors are clean and direct, from the mole negro made in-house for the chicken Holy Mole Burrito to the marinated grilled rock cod from Bodega Bay. Popular comfort dishes include organic chicken pozole and beef birria stew with tomatillo salsa. Carnivores and vegans are equally fond of the Gratitude Burrito: yam and potato hash browns, jalapeño salsa, and corn-studded guacamole in a big gluten-free tortilla. Mohamadian has recently added a mini Persian market to the restaurant, in tribute to her parents who both passed away last year." - Maria C. Hunt

I've been eating Viva Mexicana's delicious food for years, usually take out. I'm vegan, and I love the variety of vegan options. my favorite: very vegan burrito. The owner is delightful, and the whole staff is friendly and skilled. I like that the restaurant doesn't close between lunch and dinner, so we can eat whenever we want. I feel lucky to have Viva Mexicana in our town!

Dined at Viva last night with friends from Petaluma. We absolutely loved our experience. It was chef and owner Sima’s Persian Night, something new she is doing on Monday and Tuesday nights. Sima is Persian, and although she has served amazing Mexican food since assuming ownership of the restaurant, she has always added a twist that reveals her Persian influence. The new menu offers a great selection of traditional Persian cuisine, sweet, savory, tart and includes wine, beer, and specialty drink pairings. My party enjoyed a crisp Sauvignon blanc, but next time I will try the Santa Rosa plum fruit roll up margarita as it looked beautiful and the woman at the table next to ours said it was delicious. We ordered an herb and cheese app, sima brought olives in a walnut sauce, the cucumber yogurt dish, lamb and quince stew, lentil and rice, and chicken pomegranate stew. All was delicious! We rarely order dessert, but were curious about the menu so had the pistachio ice cream, havla, and bread pudding. Sima brought an herbal tea that was a perfect compliment. Each dessert was incredible-the ha la my favorite but my friends voted the bread pudding. Amazing! The portions are just right which allowed us to try many different things, including desserts, but leave feeling satisfied, not “stuffed.” Sima made everyone in the restaurant feel as though they were in her home. Persian music was playing in the background, and although she was busy serving, supporting staff, helping with takeout orders, she spent time visiting at tables, sharing food and her extensive knowledge about the traditions behind the meals on the menu. I noticed some customers arrived expecting her normal Mexican fare and she honored it. This is not a “get in and get out” experience- come for a unique, sobre mesa experience. Highly recommend.

Google
A tried and true staple here in Sebastopol. The healthiest and freshest Mexican food around. They use organic ingredients, the flavors are well balanced and not overpowering or too spicy, and they use oil very minimally so you can actually taste the individual ingredients. They use locally caught fish, grass fed beef, and they have a lot of wonderful vegan and vegetarian options as well. I also have to stick to a very special diet due to some health issues and this is one of the only places I can get takeout from because they don't use excessive seasonings. I found a couple dishes that I can eat from time to time and I'm really grateful for that.

Google
Viva Mexicana has an amazing variety of burritos that work for all kinds of dietary restrictions. Whether you’re looking for vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options, they’ve got you covered. The flavors are absolutely fantastic—fresh, bold, and so satisfying. It’s rare to find a place that balances variety with quality this well. Highly recommend! The Traditional Medicinal Employees love it

Google
A delightful little Mexican restaurant that offers a vegan menu! I had the butternut squash enchiladas with fresh avocado and spicy chipotle sauce, plus veggie refried beans and Spanish rice. I enjoyed every bite. I also enjoyed a Vegan coconut horchata— this had to be hands down the most delicious and tasty horchata I’ve ever drank!! So good! The staff were very friendly and hospitable. They also offer a couple of vegan desserts. I enjoyed my meal and felt the price point was well worth the price. A healthy meal that felt satisfying and nourishing. I highly recommend this cute dining spot located in enchanting Sebastopol.

We used Viva Mexicana catering service in Bodega Bay for six days (lunch and dinner) and everything was excellent. The team was very flexible with dietary restrictions and special requests. Meals always arrived hot, and the meals/cuisine varied from day to day! Communication was lovely throughout, and they quickly adapted to the right portions for our group. We’ve already worked with them twice and look forward to doing so again!

Google
Viva has been my favorite since the nineties… long time… love their rice and refined beans and their salsa. The new owner is really nice. Glad she hasn't changed recipes. Good portions and meat is always quality without fatty bites. Quality ingredients.

Google
One of my favorite places in town. Healthy and delicious, and the kindest owners/workers you'll meet. The butternut squash enchiladads and the gluten-free burritos are *chef's kiss*

Yelp
Simo has done it again She has upped her game. She now is offering a limited Persian menus on selected days. Was impressed with her Persian offerings. Yes it is worth the trip just for the Persian items. Some may offer tasty delights for our tongues who may not be used to the delightful spice combinations. Come and enjoy. Service is fast and friendly. I didn't hear any loud music so yes you can have a conversation and hear you partner. Recommended, Metta john

Yelp
Persian night was a treat! Okay, finally some Persian food in Sonoma County. I was thrilled to learn about the new Persian nights at Viva Mēxicana in Sebastopol. We went as a group and tried several dishes. Sima has crafted a creative menu with many Iranian staples and then some less common but equally loved dishes. Her drinks menu was especially creative and appetizing. The marinated olives were so original it would be hard to tell the difference between what they make and what you'll find in the North of Iran. My questions are still the same as what I asked her then: why not extend this to weekends and even open a new place dedicated to Persian food? :) The restaurant is a bit tucked away but easy to find, with its own parking. Loved it and will be back soon!

Yelp
My mother and I visited Viva Mexicana while daytripping in Sebastopol, I'm so happy we drove past it and decided to drop in for dinner. This is not your average taqueria, I appreciate that they call themselves gourmet because that's truly what it is. Everything we had was made with special care and attention, using fresh ingredients and thoughtful seasonings. I pay particular attention to beans and rice, because if they can't nail the basics, something's not right. The basics are perfect here, and the carnitas were some of the most flavorful, tender and juicy I've ever had. My mom loved her two street tacos, even though she whispered to me that she's had as good for less $ in Mexico. We're not in Mexico mom, and for Sebastopol, these prices aren't bad, certainly not for what you get: excellent food and service. We finished our meal with the most delightful pistachio brittle, I'm not sure if it was made in house, but whomever made it, kudos!

Yelp
Each Persian platter was delicious and the plum margarita as fabulous as described, the proprietor quite charming. However, the food and drink were extremely slow to arrive, the noise level extreme and the prices somewhat high for the modest size of the platters.

Yelp
Enjoyed two delicious birria tacos on the little covered outdoor patio, watching the cars pass by. Very tasty. Cozy and intimate. Quick and friendly service from staff and owner, definitely a hidden gem worth trying.

Yelp
Always feels like being in someone's home here. The owner cares about her food, ingredients and your enjoyment. Yes it's Mexican but there are touches of Persian seasoning and food. She pulls herbs from her garden and the wholesome homemade feel of the food reflects that. Vegans and all others will find something yummy here. To get the Persian soup or pastries you'll need to come earlier in the day than not. It's still wonderful and clean so we keep coming back!

Yelp
We've been coming for years! Always happy but this time was particularly FANTASTIC !! First we had a large group (you usually have to accept meh) but not true! Felt very welcomed! Took our orders, got our food in a completely reasonably timeframe- and our large group was silent -everyone was enjoying our meals! Variety of food ordered :butternut squash enchiladas, chili verde burrito, carnitas super burrito, meat lovers bfast burrito, bean and cheese burrito, guacamole- ALL excellent! Even tried their aqua juice ? Amazingly good!! We'll be back!!

Yelp
You ever leave a restaurant wanting dessert and not sure where to go? Drop into Viva Mexicana. We did not eat dinner here, just dessert which consistsed of some delicious flan cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake. The cheesecake was delicious. It had the flavor of basque cheesecake as it leaned more into the caramelized side of things likely due to the sauce for the "flan" aspect of things. The texture was less rich than NY cheesecake but less custardy than basque. The best way to describe it truly was saying it's a cross between flan and cheesecake. We were sharing amongs 5 of us. 2 flan cheesecakes and 1 flourless chocolate cake after our dinner was a nice amount for a good night cap. I think these were about $8 each, so not crazy expensive and the portions were a solid size. The flourless chocolate cake was decadant. That's a dramatic word.. But it was seriously rich. So dense and fudgy with such deep flavor like you were biting into a delicious 70% dark chocolate bar. I thought the flourless chocolate cake was amazing. So, if you're on the search for dessert, stop here and go over to their refrigerated case, they'll ring you out in no time at the register and you'll be on your way. One thing I'll comment on, don't let the exterior of the restaurant fool you. It's very unassuming and it doesn't look like it'll deliver much. I can't speak for the dinner but they sure know dessert. I'm not sure if they make these in house but made no difference to me. Stop in to get some quick service on delicious desserts.

Yelp
The pork carnitas are amazing. Oddly they are mostly vegetarian with some vegan. I did not find any Persian dishes. Fresh and good.

Yelp
The Gratitude burrito...This is the BEST burrito I have ever eaten in my life. It is soooooo delicious and I'm obsessed

Yelp
The owner is Persian, and the food is amazing. Oaxacan style Mexican food is delicious. Try some of the specialties, like the Mexican lasagna or one of the Agua frescas which are made fresh. The art on the walls is from local artists and is very colorful and I loved it. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Fantastic. The food, owner, workers, everything. A real gem of an eatery. It's been two decades of great. ps. if you are not getting enough chips (i don't eat them) just ask the owner. She is awesome.

Yelp
We were greeted warmly by the owner and her staff. The menu is extensive and there is a chalkboard near the register noting the specials for the day. My favorite is their tostada with carnitas, which is a corn tortilla with refried beans, pico de gallo, lettuce and cheese. We ordered the 2-item taco combo meal (1 grilled rock cod and 1 carnitas) which came with refried beans and Spanish rice. We also ordered the carnitas plate which comes with rice, beans and either flour or corn tortillas. Can you tell we love their carnitas?! Their carnitas are one of the best I've had. The meat is roasted and then grilled to perfection so they have a nice crispy texture. They offer a menu for their vegan guests as well as a nice variety of juices and desserts. There is a small outdoor dining area in front of the restaurant.

Yelp
Everything here is so good. Apps, guacamole, chips, burritos, plates, desserts, drinks. Service is good and the bang for the buck can't be beat. Love the quality of the ingredients and that much is organic.

Yelp
Had a chicken burrito "to go". Not what I expected, it was mushy, hardly any chicken , couldn't see the rice or cheese ,cost was 16.46, expensive for just 1 burrito full of refried beans, all slopped together. I'm sorry to say, it was not worth the money I spent. Had no flavor, barely any chicken! The young man who took my order was pleasant, but had a cold, and was coughing in the kitchen that was to side of the counter/ register. I should of waited to get to my neighborhood in the Roseland for a authentic Mexican burrito or sat down and ate at Martha's. Oh well, money lost. I won't be going back or referring. terminal id : 487 12/18/24 1:29 pm ref 3957

Yelp
When the owner is not there nothing goes right. Second time... no sauce on my food. Thank you And then when I sent my dish back for more sauce, she turned the plate into a soup dish and then when I asked for it to go container, everything spilled and I did not get my food so I would like to know when the owner is here on the days because this is not okay l. I will be asking for and expecting a comp for the next time I come in because this was a horrible experience.

Carrie B.

Yelp
It was my first time there and we loved it! They have a whole vegan menu so I had choices! I had vegan nachos and they were wonderful and cheesy! And if you like horchata, they make an excellent vegan horchata (and vegan iced latte horchata or a regular horchata). and they have vegan desserts! I took home a vegan cheesecake (I was stuffed). My boyfriend had "regular" food and said it was the most authentic Mexican food he's had with a legit mole! We'll be back since it has plenty of selections for vegans and non-vegans so we're both happy! Can't believe it was my first time but won't be my last!
google avatar

Deanna C.

Yelp
Not ypur typical taqueria as far as flavoring of the food, Which is exactly why we come her a few times a year. Our go to is the al pastor which has a citrus flavor, which I love in tacos or over nachos. The chicken mole enchiladas are great as well. Side note they do not use peanuts in their mole sauce, which is nice since my husband has a peanut allergy. I had the coconut horchata for the first time and it was so delicious. The staff is always wonderful.

Yelp
Delicious for sure - this is a solid family stop for our family with three teenagers, so burritos get pretty much devoured! Service is super friendly and professional, and we've always left happy - a pick up order was five minutes later than advertised and we were offered a piece of flan, mmmm. I do have to say that the website is outstanding for ease of ordering and finding what you want - very nice! Only one major comment for me is that the food is so rich! It seems less traditional Mexican and a boosted with more oil and more flavor. Does that work for me? Sometimes yes, sometimes a bit too much. The mole is truly awesome but as a little snack, not as a full sized burrito. Carnitas, carne, chicken, and the rice and bean are great, and the gourmet burritos are definitely that!

Yelp
This review has been a long time coming... I've been going to this place for many years, and I am a devotee to the Gratitude Burrito. I get it all the time! It's amazing. All of the other food I've tried here is ok to good (not great), and the owner is so sweet. The desserts are incredible. HOWEVER, their customer service is horrible and their chips are PATHETIC. They are so stingy with their chips - one time I got a side of chips and there were ONLY THREE CHIPS IN THE BAG. This was for a 2-person order. I've asked them MULTIPLE TIMES to have me PAY FOR CHIPS. I've begged them... "please let me pay for a decent order of chips." And they let me pay, but they still give me the same small bag of chips - it's a joke. They just DON'T GET IT. This past Sunday I asked again, I paid the money for the chips, and they didn't even include the chips in the order!! My friend had to ask them for chips, and I had even PAID FOR THEM. I tipped them $5 too. I didn't have time to go in and get my money and tip back, but that's why I'm writing a Yelp review now instead. I've hesitated writing them a bad review for years because I want to see them do well as a quality small business and their Gratitude Burrito rocks, but it's time. I've dealt with this chip issue multiple times, and it's frustrating. Get it together, Viva Mexicana!!!! Guess what. Papas and Pollo right next door is much better service, and their chips are incredible, and they aren't stingy with them. Even though their food isn't AS GOOD, I think I'll be going there from now on instead, just because the overall experience is better - and they don't short you on the chips. Viva Mex thinks they're saving money by rationing people chips, but honestly, it's lost them a customer. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Yelp
Viva Viva Mexicana, what a great place to stop for amazing clean Mexican food on the way through town. The burritos and tacos are all worthy of a go.

Lynne J.

Yelp
I ordered a bean (refried pinto) & cheese burrito w/ guacamole, pico de gallo & sour cream, plus lettuce. It was a fantastic lunch - fresh and very satisfying - even if it was a bit on the pricey side. It was worth it, it was really *delicious*!!! I also had a glass of fresh watermelon juice and wow, that was amazing! They make it there.

Yelp
The holiday season for me is not complete without strawberry tamales. I search for them tirelessly, and for some reason, my search is getting harder and harder every year. After posting online about my search, the owner from here reached out that they had strawberry tamales and hubby and I went over that very day! On our first visit, I ordered one local fish taco, and the strawberry tamal plate. Hubby ordered a quesadilla, and on the side, we had the tres leches cake and some chips and salsa. We started with the tres leches cake and it was absolutely incredible. Honestly that is probably in the top three best tres leches cake I've had. The fish taco was on point, super juicy, flavorful and packed with fresh flavors. Unfortunately, the tamal that I came for, was just not to my liking, and tasted more like a cinnamon tamal and didn't taste like strawberry at all. The sides to the plate however were really good, with platanos and great northern beans which were delightful. Hubby enjoyed his quesadilla, and it was such a big portion he had another whole meal in leftovers for the next day. We returned for another meal to see what else they had to offer, and hopefully to get our hands on another slice of tres leches cake. That day however, there were none, so we ended up getting cheesecake flan, which was a huge bummer compared to the tres leches. The texture was grainy, heavy, and disappointing. I revisited the fish tacos which were as good as I remembered and tasted super fresh. Hubby ordered the beef tacos and thought they were good but nothing to rave about. The chips and salsa were ok, but also nothing notable, as were the sides of beans and rice which were solid but not remarkable in terms of flavor. Prices are comparable for the area, especially for their huge selection for vegetarians and vegans which is super hard when you want Mexican food. Service was super friendly, warm and fast, and the location is easy to get to, with plentiful, free parking. Overall, a VERY mixed bag- some items I'd give a solid 5 stars, and others I'd give 1 star. We will most likely return for that tres leches cake, and probably the fish tacos...but definitely not those strawberry tamales.

Yelp
After receiving a recommendation from a local to check this place out, we dropped in for dinner. We parked in their parking lot and went in to place an order at the counter before grabbing a table in the corner. The dining area has a bunch of colorful art for sale that is by local artists, which I thought was a nice touch. I ordered three tacos - chicken, pork, and steak - as a meal (with beans and rice). I normally wouldn't have ordered the chicken, but the person at the counter recommended it when I asked what she might suggest. As it turned out, she was right when she said the chicken is fantastic. It was, by far, my favorite taco. The steak could have used some additional seasoning, as it fell a little flat. The pork chunks had a nice crispiness to them. The guacamole and chips were a nice starter with the fresh salsa and margaritas. We also appreciated the grab-and-go desserts in the cooler by the counter. Great idea!
google avatar

Drew K.

Yelp
The server was very kind, service was quick, and the vibe is very casual. However, here's the big deal: the chicken mole is AMAZING!

Misty M.

Yelp
Hand down, these are the best carnitas tacos I ever ever had in my life. The spices are just right and it's very crispy, not to mention the homemade shells. Every time I come thru here I will stop for them. The owner is amazing, too. You'll feel right at home.

Yelp
Viva Mex is vegetarian and vegan heaven! Every single dish we had here was outstanding, the owner was super friendly, and our food was ready for takeout in 20 minutes. We ordered four tacos and a butternut squash enchilada plate. Each taco was filled to the max, full of fresh tasting veggies, and seasoned to perfection - I especially liked the one with white beans and corn, as well as the one with potatoes! The enchilada was wonderful and sweet, and the enchilada sauce was truly addictive! The sides of rice and refried beans were also perfectly executed. We also ordered a delicately spiced coconut horchata, which was a great way to end the meal. The restaurant is off the main drag but definitely worth the detour! We were so satisfied with this meal - the food was immensely flavorful without needing any cheese or heavy sauces.

Yelp
The food is good and they have lots of vegan options but when I received the wrong order and they blamed it on my ability to place a phone order. Not ok, I patronize them at least once a week but no more.

Teak F.

Yelp
YUM! I'm vegan and very happy with their options. Also my mom loves the fish and we both love the mango salsa!!

Yelp
Been a patron for years, since opening. We love their burritos it's always fresh and delicious. I was disappointed however, when I order off the menu. I asked them if they could do a tostada. They were happy to oblige. Not all restaurants would do that. I didn't even ask them how much they would charge, I figured it would be around five dollars for a corn tortilla, five or six chunks of meat, some beans, lettuce, and a couple tomatoes because that is what they gave me. No cheese, no sour cream & priced at $7.50. That just seems pretty steep to me, especially when I couldn't eat the tortilla because it was not crispy, but rubbery instead. Gross the good news is, they do give you a free bag of chips and I used the chips like a fork and ate the top of the tostada, without the tortilla.
google avatar

Yelp
2 very mushy burritos, one tiny bag of chips and watery salsa. Any Taqueria in the Mission District of San Francisco does a much better job!
google avatar

Steven A.

Yelp
I want to start out by saying that I ordered three Street Style (soft) Tacos with beef, which included Pico De Gallo and cilantro, that were absolutely filling and delicious. Along with the order came a fair helping of chips with two small containers of mild salsa.  The chips and salsa were good together. The salsa was found to be unique in that it had a slightly overcooked flavor that made if special. The cost of the tacos were $16.38. After the fact, I purchased an orange soda that was over $3.00+. The reason I rated them four stars has to do with the cost of the meal and soda. Overall, not including the tip, was $19.38+. Now, that is far too much for a whole meal. I know several other Mexican restaurants that charge $11.50 for three tacos and $2.50 for sodas, including chips and salsa. Yes, I admit the others are not quite as satisfying, and I'd be more likely to take a date or a friend here because of the taste and quantity. But, if I want to still fill my stomach and save money, I'd go to one of the others.  In general, I have noticed a significant increase in prices across the board for all restaurants. If our economy doesn't improve, we lose these great restaurants. Final thought, for price I'd think twice about going back. Yea, I admit, I'd take a date, unfortunately this place is not romantic and could really use an architectural remodel to make it more appealing. Oh, one last thought, the place was very hot inside, various people complained, and I found myself standing outside waiting for my meal for that same reason. Far too hot for dinning inside. They do have outside dinning. The parking lot needs to be resurfaced and lines painted for parking.

Lizzy C.

Yelp
Amazing service from Miguel! Was kind and greeted us had no problem answering our questions and made some great suggestions. The carnitas tropi-cal burrito was delicious. They had beautiful artwork inside the building, the lamps shades have cute fruits and vegetables on them. My Nona had a great 69th birthday here!

Yelp
One of our go to restaurants to get hearty vegan meals. Viva Mexicana offers a variety of vegan dishes along with non-vegan dishes. My husband's favorite is the Gratitude Burrito. The burrito is filled with a potato mix, refried beans, corn salsa, pico de Gallo, guacamole and topped with a creamy jalapeño salsa. The Vegan Nachos and the Vegetarian Taco Salad are both really good. Tonight we ordered the Butternut Squash Enchilada Plate - corn tortillas filled with butternut squash with a roasted chipotle salsa and topped with shredded lettuce and avocado. So good! Sima is always very helpful and so nice! She does a great job of making sure her customers are happy and taken care of.

Yelp
We LOVE Mexican food so were super excited when we moved to Sebastopol and saw Viva Mexicana. I assumed we'd order from here all of the time. We've ordered from here 3 or 4 times now and are disappointed each time. It's unclear why restaurants try to account for vegans by offering Daiya cheese--which is so gross, when there are now many better options, similarly priced. Violife is so much better as is Myokos (the latter of which is locally produced). Daiya is not only disgusting and greasy, but the company was purchased by Otsuka in 2017, which is a huge pharmaceutical company that tests on animals, so there's that too. We paid $15 bucks for chips, salsa, and guacamole, and the chips always come in a tiny bag but the guacamole comes in the typical little plastic bin that would serve about 4 people. But the chips that come with it---you'd have to put an tablespoon of guac on each chip in order to have enough chips to knock out the guacamole--which doesn't make sense at all since avocados cost more than chips--even homemade chips . If you just order chips on the side for 2.50, they literally come in a bag sized for French fries. That's fine-I get inflation and supply chain issues, and am willing to pay a lot to have food delivered when we are getting home late from kids' baseball games and don't have much time to cook, but this one ends up on our "not worth it list."

Anna O.

Yelp
Consistently fresh and delicious with a variety of options for every eater, including vegan, Viva Mexicana is child-friendly, delivers amiable & friendly service, offers a comfortable seating area with local artwork...a sweet & welcoming community spot. With owner Sima's warmth, enthusiasm and intention she puts toward her customers, staff, menu, and catering, it's no wonder why Viva Mexicana is one of Sebastopol locals' favorite.

Yelp
First of all, the owner is amazing! So friendly and helpful. Anytime one is made to feel welcome that is a big plus. Plus, the inside is very cute with original artwork for sale and a few Persian foods items for sale. Second, we tried the street tacos, al pastor, and the burrito, with steak and refried beans. The meat was nicely marinated and full of flavor. The corn and flower tortillas were excellent and the beans were very tasty. I only wish this was closer to where I live.

Kayla W.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. I've been a reliable customer i work at the hospital down the road and I order from here several times a week and I always order the same thing. I spend a good amount of money at this location. The first time I had any issues, they completely messed up my food and put tomatoes when I'm allergic. Instead of correcting the issue they just demanded I pay again for them to make my food correctly. So when I asked for my money back she then consulted a manager. When asked if I wanted my food made again or my money back, I asked for the food to be made again. But of course because they are petty they threw my food in the box half of them were upside down. I will never go here again and I would not recommend it. The place is beautifully decorated and the food is so so but staff is rude and completely unprofessional.

Yelp
I ate here for the first time the other night and the food was truly delicious and there was one person working the front who suddenly got slammed and did a great job taking care of everyone. The big "however" here is that I got food poisoning from eating here. I had a bean and cheese burrito with sour cream and their Tropi-Cal potatoes (so no meat) so the only thing I can think of is something was expired or there's some cross-contamination/kitchen cleanliness issue. This would have been a 5 star review otherwise.

Yelp
The food is still fabulous, but customer service has slipped. I went in to pick up my order and was ignored by two employees. After waiting a good five minutes, I saw that my order had been sitting there the whole time. It was finally given to me after I said something. Four stars for the food, but minus one for bad service.

Yelp
Great service and the food was excellent. I ordered a chili Marino burrito. They didn't have it lady suggested I try the empanada and the empanada was so good I recommend you try it.

Yelp
I love this place. First of all, they are so happy and kind as they greet you and take your order. The food I awesome, I did order their Butternut squash enchiladas-wow, a must. Also the burritos are awesome. I also tried their fresh made juice, a cucumber one and it was excellent! Fresh ingredients and I love their hot sauce too! Thank you for an incredible meal! I'll be back

Yelp
i can't stop thinking about my lunch at Viva Mexicana. we were driving through Sebastopol and i needed lunch. My hub found Viva Mexicana and off we went. i ordered the fish salad - local fish, avocado, and mango salsa. Amazing! the tasty meatiness of the seafood and avocado complimented by the fruitiness of the mango salsa was terrific! a mouth watering experience both texture and taste. My husband ordered the street tacos, one fish and one el pastor. "Quite good, both of them" (which for him is big! ;-) The waitperson was very kind as well, when i told her the salad was fantastic she said yes it looks terrific! a fun answer. thank you chef and team

Yelp
First, I want to say how awesome this restaurant is! It is one of our favorites as they offer a separate vegan menu which is incredible. This is what made me reach out to them to see if they could help us with catering for our first big fundraiser last week. She gave me a great deal on a vegan taco bar for 50 people. The food was ready on time & I heard great reviews at our fundraiser. The only issue was that I had someone else pick up the food and the girl working the counter shorted us on our tortillas (didn't realize until we got to our fundraising location) so we had to run to the grocery store to buy more. It was a bit stressful, but luckily there was a store close by. Always check the order at the restaurant!

Yelp
Viva Mexicana was amazing, I had a small wedding and they did the catering, not only did they bring all of the setup equipment, but they cleaned up and boxed all of the food up after everyone finished eating, thanks Sima. It was wonderful, perfect timing and food was amazing, thanks!!
