Viva Mexico - Lexington, KY

My family and I have had several meals at Viva Mexico as well as using it for catering different events. All of our experiences have been absolutely top notch. They are so great to work with, the food is great quality and always fresh, the staff is beyond friendly and wonderful to work with. I cannot recommend this restaurant, this group of folks and their food enough. I highly recommend that you take your family and friends to one of the locations and assure you it will quickly become a family favorite!! 5 STARS to some great, hardworking folks!!!

We had dinner tonight at Viva Mexico on Richmond Road with my wife and son, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted promptly by friendly, welcoming staff and seated right away. Our server was outstanding attentive, warm, and made us feel completely at ease. The food exceeded our expectations, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality. My wife and I make it a point to go out on a weekly date, and this was easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in quite some time. We enjoyed it so much that it may become our new regular spot. Highly recommend giving this place a try—thank you to the team at Viva Mexico for a fantastic evening!

Hands down one of the best Mexican food places we've been to. Excellent food. I had tilapia and shrimp and it rivals high-end restaurants. Probably best I've ever had. No fish taste at all. Service is fantastic. Mexican dished were exceptional. Would highly recommend. Believe the 5 star ratings.

Best place ever!! The food is always great, margaritas are tasty, and the staff is amazing. Eric is my groups favorite waiter, he always takes great care of us! We are always excited for our monthly visits to Viva!

Salsa is really good, traditional flavor, the spicy salsa is by special request 5/10 on heat but flavor is fantastic, they will bring a jalapeño based and guessing the second is habanero based. I ordered chori-pollo one of my favorite dishes, hands down the best in the Lexington area. Very flavorful cooked to perfection. I drove an hour to try this restaurant and I will be back

Loved everything about Viva Mexico! We had the Caribbean Fajitas and the Kentucky Burrito. Both were delicious, filling and piping hot. Our server was extremely nice and efficient. Will definitely be a repeat customer 🌮🌯👍🏽

The 4 of us ate here for lunch and we all loved it! We ordered chimichangas and chicken fajitas and Mexican nachos. They did get my order wrong but the food had such great flavor! Definitely need to stop here!

The food was very good. The fajitas were seasoned very well. We first were seated right by the kitchen and in the path of all the servers. There were plenty of open seats. Why? I believe it is how I look and that isn't right. The service was abrupt. When we ordered water, we got an eye roll. Not everyone can drink soda or alcohol for various reasons. Never judge a book by its cover. The inside of the restaurant was nice. The chairs were comfortable, the tables sticky.

Great food, great service, great happy hour. So many menu choices, I absolutely must come back to find my favorite. Prices are reasonable and the portions are just right.

We came from the Chicago area months ago, where the food was incredible. And I can say that Viva Mexico is one of the best Mexican restaurants we've ever eaten at. We have been here twice. The service was fast and friendly. They kept our drinks refilled. We had the the queso enchiladas, the #9 combination (burrito, taco rice and beans), the acapulco chicken and the #5 cheese quesadilla and tostado. The beef was seasoned so well that it was incredibly delicious. The chicken was moist and tender. Everything had sweet cheesy goodness. The bean tasted really good and not like they came from a can. The rice was not bland, but instead had good flavor. The price was right, the food fantastic and the service was excellent. What more could you ask for?

Tried this restaurant again a few weeks ago. Service was much better and food was pretty okay for Mexican dining in Kentucky. So glad we had a better server who was a bit more attentive. Good chance we will come here again. The Patio Mexican Restaurant is across the street and Cinco de Mayo just down the road are also okay options. El Jefe, by Home Depot would be my last choice for Mexican Restaurants in that area. Better to skip El Jefe and go to Durango's further down the road toward central Lexington. But Viva Mexico is definitely at the top of all those local options!

I like this place. It's very similar to many other Mexican places but the owner is always there working and making sure that things runs smoothly. It makes a big difference. He always smiles and is very friendly. They are in a good location with good parking and the food and service are consistently good. We really like coming here.

The food i have tried have all been exceptional as is the service . They have great lunch specials i had the steak and chicken Fajita lunch it was a great deal for $12.99 large size was more than filling .

Had dinner at store on Old Vine. Really nice setting, very good service and food (Fajitas) were top notch.

This is one of our favorite restaurants ever the food is always amazing. The service is by far the best and the ambience you just can't do better. Very excited to see their new seafood menu.

I travel to Lexington frequently for work and have started staying at the Doubletree again. This restaurant is in strip mall in front of it. It seems to be a newer restaurant and is very clean and modern decor. I normally avoid Mexican restaurants when I'm traveling because so many of them are Americanized Mexican. Viva Mexico is not. The staff is excellent and the margaritas are good. They have all of your favorite American Mexican but they have some great authentic Mexican also. I have been here 2 weeks in a row and have had the Cochinita Pibil and the Aguachiles Verdes. Both were phenomenal!!!! I can't wait until I am back to try more of their dishes.

Dinner was good, but we ordered steak tacos to go for our daughter at the hotel and order was incomplete. No rice and beans. $15.99 for the order PLUS 50 cents because it was to go and they send us on our way with a partial order. I guess we should have checked the bag thoroughly and so should you.

(MY REVIEW IS BASED ON A DELIVERY ORDER.) The cheese dip Cheese Dip Side is tiny, 2 ounces. Not worth the cost, but the taste was very good. My order was missing the Small House Sauce I ordered. Order arrived cold but it's 21 degrees outside which im sure has something to do with it. I wouldn't order the Speedy Gonzales again. Enchilada sauce is sweet. Beef had a different flavor than most Mexican restaurants. Rice and beans were tasteless. The salsa is some of the best I've had though.

The food and service was great. I recommend the fiesta burrito or Kentucky burrito. They bring you chips and salsa.

Wanted to try a new restaurant tonight and remembered about this place. First their salsa is amazing, unsure what all is in there but the flavor is spot on. The service was phenomenal was checked on several times. We sat out on the patio and it was a perfect night. I will definitely come back to try more items

Just wanted to leave another glowing review of this place. Went again today. The birria tacos are chef's kiss. One of the best dishes I've ever had.

Anyone who gives this place less than 5 stars DOESNT KNOW BALL. Do your soul a favor and visit Viva asap, order the Tacos de Birra, and pull up Yelp to thank me when you're finished.

We went to this wonderful restaurant late on a Friday during a Keeneland race weekend. The staff was attentive and couldn't have been nicer to us. Drinks were top notch with my wife declaring her Paloma to be one of the best she's had in a while. Food: Great chips, salsa & guacamole. Grilled Ribeye & shrimp had fantastic flavor and my daughter's steak quesadilla was a whopper. She loved it. I appreciated that they had sports on the TVs in the bar areas and even had some sombreros sitting around for photos and laughs. We will be back next time we're back in Lexington!

Everything is good. I've had fajitas, burritos and their shrimp. All is good especially margaritas and waitstaff.

2nd visit was on point again! Exceptional service and food continues to be fresh! See ya next time!!

Loved the food service and ambiance! They actually have great flavors and some spice in their dishes. Fresh pico, delicious chimichangas. Margs are good also.

The food was amazing! Very good portions! The waiter was excellent, friendly and attentive. The restaurant looked nice and clean. I would highly recommend it.

For starters, the staff is the most unprofessional staff I've ever experienced. I was seated at the bar at 4 p.m. There were three employees behind the bar and two employees next to the bar that were more interested in cutting up than waiting on customers. I ordered two Julio Paloma's at $16 a piece that were the worst and weakest drinks I've ever had in my life. I ordered the aqua chiles Rojos, which was uneditable. I like spicy food, but the amount of raw spice in this dish actually left burns on my tongue. I was in the service industry, and bad service will get you 20% from me. This was so bad I left 10%. On my way out the door I expressed my concern to the host who was too busy to look up from his phone. I own a business a block away from this restaurant, and I promise every guest that comes through my doors will hear about my experience. I usually do not leave bad reviews, and I am very forgiving being a small business owner, but this was on another level. I have never in my life been this unhappy with my dining experience. If you're in Lexington, go to Mi Pequena Hacienda. This was a waste of time, money, and left me in a horrible mood.

Hidden gem in Lexington. Off the main road but barely! Worth the stop in! Many choices in Lex, but this was presented very well! Beautiful inside, great food, super friendly service. Can't ask for much more!

After reading all of the rave reviews on this new restaurant and being such a huge fan of Mexican food, we were able to finally get there for lunch. It is a very vibrant environment, beautiful restaurant, and the food was terrific! I believe the manager and our waiter, Kendra's we're holding down the fort with customer service extraordinaire! I had the Chile Relleno , which my father always told me that was a sign of a good restaurant, and it was wonderful. And growing up in California, you know we had some of the best Mexican food around. So let's cheer on this new restaurant and pay them a visit. I highly recommend it!

If looking for a new spot for Mexican food, you have to give Viva Mexico a try. Place has a good vibe, was very clean and service was exceptional. We shared a single order of chicken fajitas, which were delicious and enough for the wife and I to share. We will definitely be back.

Ordered togo, food was great. Service was fast and easy. But the prices are not up to date on here, it was way more expensive than the menu says online

There's no 4.5, so l rated it a 5. Food is fresh, flavorful, generous portions, good presentation ( your eyes eat before your taste buds), good service, very clean restaurant and restrooms. I've been there many times and had to ask for the music to be turned down. Can't have a conversation over the loud music. The refried beans and Mex rice need more flavor. However, great salsa, fajitas, and Ky burrito. I hope this place does well. Lunch isn't crowded, food comes out fast. Dinner, no wait. Go give Viva Mexico your support. Thank you

Very nice Mexican meal in a very clean and welcoming restaurant, delicious "fresh guacamole" and Mexican chicken soup. All dishes were good with excellent service.

This place was amazing!! Right next to our hotel so we just walked, there were alot of options and the food came out super fast with a group 6! The enchiladas were so goodd!! Definitely would come here again.

We are staying in a hotel up the road and my daughter wanted birria tacos for dinner. After a quick yelp search we decided to give Viva Mexico a try and we are so glad that we did! Everything was so delicious! We would definitely eat here again if we are ever in the area again.

Viva Mexico is my new favorite Mexican spot in town! It's a new, spotless building. There's a large bar with several TVs if you want to catch a game. The tacos de birria were excellent as were the combo fajitas. The meat was so flavorful and juicy. Fresh guacamole was awesome too. Will definitely be back!

Excellent new Mexican option in Lexington. Food was excellent, service was great and friendly, margs were a hit. Was seated immediately. Only good things to say about the place, definitely a top 5 Mexican spot in town out of the gate. Had the seafood fajitas and they were loaded with fish, krab, and shrimp. The special house salsas were also excellent, be sure to ask for them if you like a little spice. Waiter was very friendly and genuine. Give it a shot!

If you're looking for your new favorite Mexican restaurant in Lexington, look no further than Viva Mexico. We visited for the first time tonite and will definitely be back every time we're in Lexington. The restaurant itself is beautiful with amazing artwork. They offer an extensive menu - many choices that are not the standard fare at other Mexican restaurants. We had the Tacos Al Pastor and Carnitas Tacos, and both were amazing. The strawberry margarita was also one of the best I've had ANYWHERE. Even better than the food and strawberry margarita was the service - it was impeccable. Viva Mexico provided us with one of the warmest, most genuinely welcoming restaurant experiences we've had in a long, long. Please come out and support this new, and most well deserving, business.

We were just staying overnight in Lexington as we passed through the area. Looked on Yelp and found this place had good reviews. Went here on a Wednesday night. We got right in. Atmosphere is comfortable and casual. Menu is quite extensive with the usual Mexican fare. The service was fine, nothing exceptional but still good. The chicken fajitas that my wife and I shared may be the best I've ever had. A huge single portion that we shared was more than both of us could finish. The drinks were excellent! All in all, they don't do anything particularly different that most Mexican restaurants do -but they do it exceptionally well! Try it!

Best mole sauce I've ever had- very nice server and laid back atmosphere. Glad we went to go check it out. Will go back another time to try a couple more things off the menu.

We had excellent service and wonderful food. I really enjoyed the fajita quesadilla. The steak was tender and it was smothered with peppers and onions. It was delicious and if I lived in the state, I would go back again.
