Extremely disappointing. We have eaten gelato at Vivoli in Florence years ago, and remember loving it. Recently we visited Vivoli at Disney Springs, and the experience was not that great...
The gelato was much less creamy, kind of icy actually in texture. Could have been an off day, I dunno, but if it was then that's a lack of consistency there.
We tried a few different flavors, and found the gelato actually sticking to the roofs of our mouths, like a greasy slick on the roofs of our mouths (the same for all 4 flavors we tried, so it wasn't a single bad batch). I think the gelato had separated, yielding an icy texture with the milk fat sticking to the roof of our mouths. It was a very strange texture, and we didn't enjoy it.
With that said, we tasted several flavors before selecting the ones we would purchase, but none of them really impressed me. Even the flavors I know I like were just meh.
I had recently eaten some of the best gelato of my life in Prague (believe it or not!), and coming back to the US to eat the gelato here was a huge let down. I had been looking forward to this visit for years, having made the pilgrimage to the original Vivoli in Italy, but it was NOT the same. I wouldn't return. I wanted to like it so much, but it was a major letdown for me.
