VNA Texas Meals On Wheels

Today December 25, 2024 What a wonderful surprise today! We were not expecting a delivery today because of the holiday. Preparing for dinner and I hear a knock and its mow! They had brought my mother's lunch and gifts! Forgive me for not remembering the two angels that came by. I received a call from the gentleman but forgot. But they were so sweet I just had to let everyone know. Mom got some really nice things for me to add to her "spa box." Thank you both for taking time out of your schedule, away from your family to be a blessing to others. Merry Christmas 2024 Today is November 10, 2024 I was not going to say anything but no one needing assistance should be treated with such disrespect. (October 14, 2024) I called to get my mother back on MOW...she had taken ill and was unable to retrieve her meals. Fyi, she was also getting a box at the end of the month which was very helpful being on a fix income. I spoke with Dana, but missed her call and called her back. Let me add this...initially when mother was on the program, all I needed to do was provide her name, DOB, and address etc. Within 2 weeks my mom was receiving her meals daily with the exception of the weekend. When I returned Dana's call, I missed her again and shortly she connected with me. "This Dana from MOW" silence. Me: "Yes, thank you for returning the call (silence) My mother was on MOW and I'm needing to get her back on the program." She seemed as if I was disturbing her and was quite callous. "Her name, her address, phone number." I can't recall much else she said i was just taken back due to her foul attitude but what I do remember is her harsh response. "This goes through Health and Human resources and will take 2 to 3 months." Her tone was too nasty to even have a conversation with and simply told her thank you. Dana, if you don't have compassion, or care to help our elderly, or our veterans or those that are disabled why are you working there? It takes so little to be kind. I'll never understand in a million years why people place themselves in a position such as this and they hate working with people. You should be ashamed of yourself, I know I am ashamed of you. One day you'll have to help your parents and I pray you don't run into someone like you. Fyi, why are we being directed to health and human resources for approval? I did not do this 2 years ago. Be kind ***UPDATE*** I had the privilege to speak with Inga Wilson, mgt. at Meals on Wheels November 12, 2024. She resolved my issue in less than 20 minutes. Long story short, Ms. Wilson handled my mother's case, taking general information and placing me in contact with Risper (I do hope I spelled her name correctly 🙂). Risper called November 13, 2024 and was able to place my mother back on Meals on Wheels. She will begjn her service on Friday! Both, ladies were pleasant, engaged, professional, and caring. They handled my mother's case flawlessly! If I could give you two ladies 10 stars I would. Thank you both for your compassion 💐

Called the office 10/8/2024 to get pertinent questions answered for setting my father up for paid Meals on Wheels. I was transferred to Dana the Resource Specialist. Dana from the start of the call was very irritated, short and sounded as if she didn’t like, need or want her job! She was not effective at all in fact she kept directing me to just go online as I was trying to advise her tht my mother is blind and thts who would be setting up this service! My father is a 20 year Veteran w a Purple Heart who has served this country proudly! I myself have volunteered for meals on wheels for at least the last 10 years. I never in a million years expected someone to actually get paid for working here be so rude and dismissive! Without the customers/clients she would have no job! Please speak w her because I know a ton of college graduates that wld love to replace her! ***Update*** 10/9/2024 I rcvd a prompt resolution call from the Resource Mgr. Inga Wilson. Mrs. Wilson was extremely apologetic for the incident & carefully listened to the details of the call. Mrs. Wilson advised she wld speak w Dana & also be of great assistance to my parents w the ongoing application process & any future issues. Thank you so much Mrs. Wilson for taking time to reach out & rectify this unfortunate situation. -The purpose of life is to contribute in some way to making-things better.” - Robert Kennedy

We Need more Volunteers...in All locations. I have volunteered in Garland and the area near East field College. Even tho I'm nearing 70 I love serving the meals to others with disabilities. I pray Blessings to the misfortunate everyday and that Meals on Wheels will continue this Much needed service. ❤️

We love your work and the fact that we can get involved and help on any level. Service Mentors has always had great experiences volunteering with your organization. You guys are super organized and any small faults are insignificant. The fact that this happens is a God sent and we love participating.

These people are great. They volunteer their time,pay for their own gas, and provide a wonderful service. If you know someone who is a shut in handicapped or elderly and needs some help contact VNA MEALS ON WHEELS! They need more help if you're interested. Bill McK

I would like to thank the meals on wheels volunteers for the excellent work they do. During this trying time they are still friendly and upbeat. Thank you all for the wonderful jobs you do to brighten our days.

They are great help to the communities. Their new phone app is great for the volunteers that use technology. Also great for companies whose employees volunteer to deliver meals.

My mom's meals were always delivered on time for about five years when she lived in Carrollton, and somehow, since she moved to Mesquite, she gets Jo meals on Mondays and suddenly recently, the meals have stopped being delivered. What's really surprising is how she has made a couple of phone calls to inquire about this, and nobody has done as promised, which is call her back to tell her something. She just wants a phone call and tell her what's going on, and today, I called but got a voicemail. No returned phone call for me either, I have been here making her meals everyday and will be sure to add this to my daily activities for now, what I am hoping, is that my mom can get some good news about the current situation being resolved.
