• We booked a premium room on the 7th floor. They allocated us one that smelled of cigarettes - we advised reception, they said they were unable to swap rooms, so they sent up a cleaner to spray some air freshener. 🫠
• We paid over £400 for a one night stay with spa access and a massage.
The spa equals 2 extremely dated pools and a non-working sauna - that’s it.
(We were offered zero compensation for not being able to use the sauna but plenty of promises that it’d be fixed during our stay; spoiler: it wasn’t)
• The spa area clearly states that phones aren’t allowed in the pool area - we thought this was fair, for privacy reasons. Most people had their phones on them anyway and no one said anything. Why have a rule that you don’t enforce?
(Also, I have a suspicion that they would prefer no phones because they don’t want guests to take photos of the outdated & grimy pool area for reviews, nothing to do with privacy - but they seem too understaffed to monitor anything properly.)
• Be aware that the spa area provides almost zero refreshments, you can have an overpriced vitamin water or a protein bar. Nothing else. Nowhere to go for food or drinks for those who’d like to spend the day in the spa - although, I guess the spa is so underwhelming that they know people will be in and out within an hour or so.
• They also allow more people in the spa than there’s beds / seats, it truly is ridiculous.
• None of the staff were great and the man with the glasses who checked us in was particularly unhelpful.
• Breakfast was chaotic and understaffed even towards the end of the morning (breakfast is until 10.30 and we went at 10.15)
Unless you get a great bargain (and I mean a HEAVY discount), I wouldn’t recommend this place. Even the “sea view” is pretty gross as no one cleans the rubbish on the beach.
I didn’t expect a super posh 5* hotel for the price we paid, but this hotel barely deserves 3* overall. So, so, so disappointed.
