voco the Darwin - Atlanta Midtown, an IHG Hotel

Booked this room for a staycation for my birthday weekend. The lobby area is beautiful. The front desk agent was polite. It’s located right by a rough neighborhood . The room however was horrible. The sheets were dingy with hair upon entry. The fitted sheet was too large for the bed. The room was very small. The sink, bed, and desk was crammed into one small area. The wood on the floor was chipped up. This is not up to standard at a rate of 300/night. I decided not to stay but was denied a refund. If it’s not your only option, I don’t recommend at all. Happy Birthday to me :(

First - all the employees were wonderful - friendly and helpful. Second - the lobby and bar is a great gathering place to relax and meet other guests and staff. This was particularly important as we were snowed in for a day at the hotel. We had a great time. Third - they have a limited menu at the bar that changes based on which outside local chef is cooking that day. The food we had was excellent. Fourth - the hotel room was very nice. Really appreciate the ability to stream from our own account on the TV. No hook-ups or Roku needed. Enjoyed the shampoo and lotion products. They have 2 e bikes for use. My husband used on one day to get some groceries. I imagine that get used pretty quickly in the summer. Need a car for this location as public transportation is not great. We walked a mile to breakfast. There are fast food restaurants closer but not of interest to us.

We stayed for one night and absolutely loved it! The hotel is stunning, with a beautifully decorated outdoor area featuring lights and plenty of seating for relaxing or socializing. The beds were the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on in a hotel. The location was excellent, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Ponce City Market is just two traffic lights away, offering plenty of activities and attractions! The computers were briefly down before check-in, but the staff kindly offered us drinks while we waited, and the issue was resolved quickly. Our only complaint is that the soundproofing could be better—you can hear everything. From 5 AM to about 8 AM, it sounded like someone was walking around in heels above us, which kept us awake and was quite frustrating. If you plan to stay here, I recommend requesting a room on the top floor to avoid this issue. Overall, it was a fantastic experience with excellent service and incredibly comfortable beds!

Sheek little hotel however I'm so upset by how I was treated by the person on reception Monday 23rd February. I had just landed into Atlanta from an overnight flight and I was exhausted. When I approached the desk to let her know I was checking in she cut me off and said check in was at 3pm. I let her know that the room was booked from Sunday as I was on an overnight flight. She told me my prepaid booking was canceled as I was a no show and that she would check if there was any availability and if she couldn't reinstate my booking I would have to pay for an entire new reservation. After a few minutes of silence she asked for my ID and form of payment, which is when I tried to say that it was completely unfair for her to expect me to pay for another room when I was here and the room was already booked and prepaid. She retorted back that it was for a deposit, but the last thing she had mentioned about payment was for another booking. I felt she made issues where there was absolutely none, and really upset me while I'm exhausted and pregnant just looking to get to bed to sleep. I've heard from colleagues (also booked through the same 3rd party booking with the same corporate credit card) who are staying in the hotel that they were checked in early the morning prior to me no problem, and had a wonderful experience plus given complimentary vouchers for coffees or champagne. I was offered none of that, just attitude and issues. Very disappointing that this was my first experience walking in the door at the hotel. Extremely poor customer service.

Not being particularly familiar with Atlanta and needing a place for the SEC Championship game I booked this hotel along with some friends. Property was in an excellent location for us and was updated with a focus on functional elegance. The lasting impression of this property was the staff. Every encounter we had was excellent and very much genuine ensuring we had the best stay possible. I wouldn't think twice about booking this property in the future knowing I'll be well taken care of throughout my stay.

We loved our stay at The Darwin Hotel! The hotel is a small quality hotel that is warm and full of personality. From the cassette tape collection display when entering to the beautiful origami paper cranes that you are presented with upon check in (which you can trade in for a free drip coffee - if you can part with it …), the hotel and staff provided an easy and wonderful lodging experience. The room was very tastefully and creatively presented with all amenities needed/wanted. I will definitely be returning!! The only suggestion I have would be to drop the $30 parking fee, especially since there is plenty of on-site and street parking. Just seems kind of petty and doesn’t match the ambiance of the experience.

What can I say? From the moment I arrived at the Darwin Hotel I felt welcomed like I was a member of their family. I was here for two weeks while on business and they greeted me with exuberant hospitality. From the beginning, Dante ensured my stay was going to be as comfortable as possible. The restaurant staff knew my order as I arrived each morning and the evening staff listened intentionally as I talked about my day. They all held a true interest in the work I do, who I am and where I’m from. The nightly chef prepared meals are always a treat, photos below, kept my stomach and wallet full. The attention to detail by the cleaning staff and the overall design and vibe of the hotel made me feel like I was staying somewhere special. The gym is masterfully designed, clean, and developed for a gym rat such as myself. Overall, this has been one of the best stays I’ve ever had at any hotel in the country and I recommended anyone traveling through Atlanta do themselves the favor and treat if staying at this impeccable hotel nestled just outside midtown. Five stars.

I loved the shower & water pressure. I loved aesthetic of the entire hotel and room. It was beautiful and I wish I could’ve stayed longer. The bed was also veryyy comfortable! I wish I was informed better prior to booking my room as it pertained to having a mini fridge. I was told by customer service on the phone that my room comes with one. Otherwise I would have booked the suite that comes with one. It was very misleading. I also wish the microwave wasn’t on the second floor but instead in the room. Aside from that I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and give my experience a 9/10.
