Where to Eat and Pick the Best Peaches in Texas Hill Country | Eater Austin

"A large roadside orchard and stand with roughly 100 acres growing more than 20 peach varieties — from Starlit White and Spring Gold to Regal, White Fresh and Southern Pearl — that sells an estimated 300,000 pounds of fruit annually. The stand offers a broad array of peach-forward foods such as peach cobbler, peach butter ice cream, preserves and peach butter, plus novelty items like peach goat milk lotion, and also carries other seasonal produce including plums, blackberries, figs, tomatoes, okra and squash; customers are advised to check social channels for updates." - Brittany Britto Garley

Wow, these peaches are amazing! We stopped by on Sunday, June 8, 2025 and picked up a bunch. We left them on the counter until Tuesday, as the young girl who assisted us, recommended. Tuesday dinner was a fresh peach & mozzarella caprese salad with a ham, Gruyère, & asparagus frittata. Wednesday dinner was air-fried pork chops with roasted peach, blackberry, and arugula salad. The rest of the peaches will be eaten before we can get to making cobbler. Can’t wait to return in a few weeks for some more.

If you are in the area you need to stop here. Family owned and operated, and they make you feel right at home. I got the peach cobbler with peach butter ice cream and it was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. I would give this more than 5 stars if I could.

We visited this place for the first time on Sunday. The young people working at the stand were very friendly and helpful. We picked a bag of peaches (freestone), okra, zucchini, and a jar of salsa. My, those peaches are DELICIOUS!! Juicy and sweet!! All the produces are fresh and very reasonably priced. I'm impressed. Will definitely go back!

Friendly customer service and juicy harvester peaches. Reasonable price relatively to other nearby orchards and stands. Recommended.

Those peach cobblers were sooooo good! Awesome customer service too!

Google
Oh man we love this place! Fresh peaches from the orchard that grew them. Then pick up a jar of homemade Peach Butter. Oh and they’ll make you warm peach cobbler and put a scoop of homemade peach ice cream on top. !!!

Just grabbed some white peaches from here, and they were delicious! They were cheaper than some of the other fruit stands, too.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, this place left me wanting to turn around and come right back after we left because everything was so good. Such a cute farm vibe as you pull in, everyone is very cheerful and happy to answer any questions you may have. They not only have peaches available, but lots of other fresh produce like okra, watermelon, squash, and others! I got the peach butter too which I have since tried once I got home on a biscuit, and it's elite. Although if I had to recommend you get any one thing, the peach cobbler with peach butter ice cream would be it. This thing changed me, it's so good. I might be getting it tomorrow again, who cares about calories, they don't count when something tastes this dang good.

Yelp
Friendly staff and great selection of fruits and vegetables. Don't sleep on the peach Ice Cream. Yum.

Yelp
This orchard is about 10 minutes east of Fredericksburg conveniently located just off the highway. The store is not large but they have a great selection of local peaches and other produce. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and we got some awesome peaches here. Great place to stop when visiting the area. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Definitely check out the peach butter ice cream! There are many homemade ice cream spots in the area but we loved Vogel's spin. It was super flavorful, packed with yummy spices.

Yelp
Stopped on the side of the main road 290 for this local farm family owned. I always forget how much it costs to grow food. There is so much work that goes into a fresh produce: the land, soil, water, waiting for harvest, bug deterrence etc. And if you buy direct from farmer you understand this based on the price! We bought a smaller box of peaches for $15. The fuller box's were between $24-26, which we declined. Cheaper in the grocery store I have tried 1 peach so far, sadly don't think it was ripe, neither juicy nor sweet or soft, hoping with time, it gets better? I tried to buy local

Yelp
Some of the best fruit in Fredicksburg when in season. Discount for cash. When peaches are in season theirs was cheaper and in better shape. Went their weekly in peach season for peaches, tomato's and fresh berries

Yelp
Second week in July, peak peach season. Try to make it out here every year; a weekend in Fredericksburg, hit a few wineries, and return to Austin loaded up with the best peaches. It's a nice way to spend the weekend. Have sampled a number of different stands over time and many trips, and find Vogel is just friendly, consistent, and convenient. They're also good on social media keeping you up to date on how the fruit is running. Peak weekend they had five types of freestones; get a sample and give them a few days to rest and you have the best peaches money can buy. Made a huge mistake this trip only getting one box of tomatoes - minimum two next time; you're not making a great tomato sandwich with grocery store tomatoes. Watermelon from Mason too. None of that silly "seedless" stuff, filled with runt white (not)seeds. It is so worth the extra effort to seed a proper watermelon.

Yelp
I ordered jelly and was unknowingly overcharged on the freight. I received an email telling me I had been accidentally overcharged and they corrected the amount and credited me. Not only is this great jelly but the service is wonderful to. I would never have known had Vogel not contacted me. Service doesn't get better than this.

Yelp
Love stopping by this place and loading up on some really BIG peaches. They're usually pretty good in terms of size and sweetness. There's always a few kids (I think they're part of the family) that are running the walk up operation and it's great to see them out there (so nice, polite and helpful). Definitely also try the cobbler - it's good (toss some ice cream on there while you're at it).

Yelp
I love this orchard. I will highly recommend this orchard. I will totally return. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I love how they have crops to buy.

Yelp
My mum grew up in the Hill Country and her mother lived there her entire life. They knew their peach stands. This was their favorite. I trust their judgment and, after my own investigation, I concur. They offer their own homegrown veggies (like tomatoes) as well as fruit (like peaches and pears). Plus, they have peach butter. I'd heard of apple butter after living with a good Southern girl, but I'd never heard of peach butter. It's a unique experience that's worth trying -- they give out free samples by the way. Do yourself a favor and stop on your next trip to parts west. Sample, as we did, the peach jam vs. the peach jelly vs. the peach butter. Then message me and tell me which you prefer. :)

Yelp
Simply amazing! The orchard produces the perfect Fredericksburg . My recommendation is to ask if Autumn or Will are available as they were able to assist me in selecting the type of peach that I was looking for. I of coarse left them a pretty nice tip in gratitude if there service and knowledge of peaches. We'll for sure be back!

Yelp
A few weeks ago, I was in Georgia driving down the interstate. I saw sign after sign advertising the "Greatest Peach Ice Cream in the World!" I dreamt of homemade scoops of vanilla folded with chunks of fresh peach. On my way out of town, I decided to stop. After parting with $7.00, I was handed a 4oz styrofoam cup with some orange soft serve situation. Needless to say, this was not the ice cream of my dreams. Since then, my wife has heard daily about my peach woes as I craved the nostalgic experience I was robbed of. I could barely sleep. On a recent business trip to Kerrville, we pulled in to Vogel's. Standing behind a table full of baskets of freshly picked peaches, we were greeted by smiling faces ready to offer any peach treat we needed: the fruit itself, lotions, soaps, cobbler, and ICE CREAM! I ordered the cobbler and ice cream and was greeted with the exact dessert I had hoped for! Delicious. In that moment, the world got a little brighter and my faith in humanity returned. Thank you Vogel's!! We bought the peach infused soap too, also recommend.

Yelp
I love Vogel's. If you are not from the Hill Country area, please give me the pleasure of informing you that Texas Hill Country peaches are better than any California, Georgia, or other location grown peach you will ever eat. Yes its a bold statement but i know I am right. Vogel's peaches are the best of the best. I am also a huge fan of Nelda's Peach Preserves sold at Vogel's. The Peach Preserves are a little less sugary than jelly or jam, a little more chunky, and go great on either pancakes, or toast, or even in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. its like sunshine in a jar for when the peaches inevitably go away until next year. Vogel's also grows a great tomato. Red, juicy, perfect, not some hothouse pink tomato garbage. Real tomatoes. If you're in the Hill Country in June, I strongly recommend putting Vogel's on your itinerary. Vogel's peaches are more important than stopping at yet another winery, trust me.

Yelp
We make almost annual trips from Houston to Stonewall to buy peaches from Vogel Orchard. They are helpful with selection and are always happy to answer questions. Their prices are good and in line with all the competition. We don't mind seconds so usually buy a bushel of them, as well.

Yelp
We enjoyed our second peach stand stop here at Vogel Orchard in Stonewall. The peach cobbler topped with peach ice cream was scrumptious, a word I rarely use, but this dish was worthy. Service was relaxed, informative and very helpful. We bought some of their fig jam and find it delicious on muffins and toast. The peaches looked great, but we were stocked up by the time we got to Vogel. We'll be back.

Yelp
A wonderful family of multi-generational peach growers. I suggest stopping at their stand first if you are looking for peaches, veggies, or berries.

Yelp
Awesome peach cobbler with ice cream ($4.50)! I'll definitely be back for more. They also have a little store attached that sells jams, jellies, salsas, and more.
