"A cozy, comfortable Belgian beer bar with a great patio. Not a rager by any means, but a place we’d recommend to grab a drink and have a low-key catch up with friends." - katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg

I've grown attached to both this restaurant and the area it's in. The place is clean and the owners are very sweet, attentive and honest. All workers approached with genuine friendliness. Their dishes showcase excellent flavor! I'm already anticipating returning to try other items.

Google
Strange but interesting little bar. Easy to miss it because it's entrance is tucked into a small alley type of situation. Beer selection is good if you're specifically looking for Belgian style; otherwise, you only have a few options. We went on a Saturday night and only a few tables were filled, which made the vibe feel a bit off, made worse by the fact that the bartenders acted like we were making their lives miserable by asking for two pilsners. But hey, the red lighting was cool.

Sheryl Emmenegger

Google
chill vibe, you can smoke on terrace, perfect! just a little expensive but that‘s the area

Google
This bar was not too busy when I arrived. I ordered a few of their Belgium-style beers and had a seat without much to do. It's a fairly minimalist place, as there really isn't anything to do and its seating doesn't really encourage social interactions. Still, its sparseness gave me something to do when everything else was booked on a busy Friday night.

Jon Hayes

Google
Came here for drinks on a Friday night with a large group of friends in January. We were able to grab a bunch of seats by the door, which was great but it was a bit cold. We had several orders of fries, which were delicious. They were served with both ketchup and mayo. The white wine selection was a bit limited, but I guess that’s expected at a beer garden.

Morton Wetherington

Google
Excellent selection of Belgian beers! Very European atmosphere at Vol de Nuit!

Google
Went in here with a friend and ordered 2 beers, bill was $25 I paid with two $5s and a 1993 $20 bill. Bartender who looked like he's 14 years old starts freaking saying the bill is fake, I offer to pay with a $100 he says it's fake too. Also refuses to even take my two $5s bills, as if anyone would fake a $5 bill. Not my fault they don't know what cash looks like, or what security features to even look for. Rude staff, wouldn't recommend.

Google
Belgian CBs are on tap. Slightly set back from the street, the entrance may cause some hesitation, but inside, you'll find a cozy and comfortable spot to drink and chat—an oasis away from the noise of the West 4th Street station area.

Yelp
Love the black current Cassis and the fries with aioli. I order them every time I come. Nice tucked away ambiance. The place remains consistently great.

Yelp
This is a temple of Belgian beer, amazing selection, FANTASTIC service (often comes to your table or where you're sitting even if only 1 bartender working), tasty French fries, and in the summer that patio is the most perfect place on earth to have a beer. Inside can be crowded on the weekends but a fun place all the same.

Yelp
Honestly was just visiting and found this place. Great beers and fantastic music. Also thank you bartender with the glasses for letting me charge my phone and recommending The Garret above Five Guys, made my night.

Yelp
A gem that harks back to "The Village" of the 1980s and 90s, when bars and restaurants in interesting locations were discovered by word of mouth. This wonderful place has that hidden away vibe and as a bonus has delightful staff and an amazing array of beers on tap, specializing in Belgian. A must-do on any West Village pub crawl.

Yelp
I used to come here quite often before the pandemic. Had a very much needed date night last night and it was great to be back. We ordered the large Belgian fries with garlic aioli and it was as awesome as I remember it. Crispy and well salted. Paired that with a La Chouffe beer which was also delicious. Can't wait to go again.

Yelp
Wowie wow wow. This place speaks my language. All Belgians. Draft and bottled. Dark, cozy environment with supreme music. Give me more. More I said.

Mariella R.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVED the atmosphere and service here. Troy, our bartender was so hospitable and gave us great recs for where to catch some incredible live music near by after we finished our drinks! He ended up PERFORMING THERE later that evening and was an absolute legend! Great bartender, great drinks, overall great spot! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Spent some time at Vol De Nuit on Friday night. A tremendous beer bar focused on beers from Belgium that also offered a few tasty snacks and a very cool atmosphere. Quality: I loved the approach Vol De Nuit took towards its menu. They only serve iconic and delicious old-world beers, and make sure each one is poured as it is meant to be. I enjoyed a Delirium Tremens, as well as sips of a LaChouffe and a Saison Dupont during the visit. The Small Frites with some Aioli Garlic was a perfect compliment to the beers. Quantity: Pours are dictated by the specific glass for each beer. Value: $8-11 for Draft Beer. $6 for Small Frites. Ambiance: Vol De Nuit is a beer bar located in Greenwich Village. The entrance has you walk through a small passageway and into a patio. The patio has a fair amount of seating. Venture further to get into a darkened indoor space, which utilizes neon red lighting. The bar area is small and highlights all the old-world beer available. The many corners inside all offer seating with a level of privacy. The space has a very intimate and European feel. Crowd: Busy, but plenty of seats for all guests. Service: Excellent, knowledgable bartenders. Parking: Difficult street parking.

Yelp
Recommended by a friend after attending a show nearby at LPR on Bleecker. Low-key bar with a calm atmosphere to grab a Belgian beer, or a glass of wine. The "Palm" was excellent on tap - the hints of caramel were subtle and not overwhelming, sweet and noticeable yet not overpowering. A really well made beer. Will definitely be back.

Doug F.

Yelp
What a delightful hidden gem! Anyone who loves Belgian beer should make this a priority.

Yelp
I popped in here for a drink before dinner on Cornelia Street. It's tucked in from the bustling street with a patio space before entering bar. Great selection of Belgian beers. For a Tuesday night, the crowd grew steadily. Worth dropping in if you're in the area and want a different scene.

Yelp
Friendly service. Quiet bar. All Belgian beers. What more could we want. Had a lovely conversation with the owner bartender who's been there 20 years. Great stories were shared. We will be back!

Reade B.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed this bar. It really is a great place to go solo and have drink in the courtyard or inside at the bar. I went recently and was a bit peeved. I ordered a beer that was $8. the bar tender charged my $9. Didn't let it bother me. Maybe the menu was outdated. Second beer- same thing, but a different beer. I asked why they were charging me (cash) an extra $1. They replied tax. I said, huh that sounds like an oddly square, disproportionate percentage (not to mention fraudulent statement.) What can I say, I love bars. I've never experienced this anywhere. If a beer is $8 and you're paying cash, it's $8. Super shady and lame.

Aaron M.

Yelp
Great service and high quality Belgian beer at average, or even below average prices for Manhattan! Fries are very tasty, and they have a nice outdoor space in front to sit in good weather. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Brandon is an amazing bartender. So cool, calm and collected. The wine has a little bit to be desired and Brandon made everything fantastic.

Yelp
Lovely little hidden nook, that I can only hope I continue to find when in the Soho area, over and over again. It's a bit offset from the street/sidewalk, but a business associate assured me it would definitely please the foodie, beer/wine pallete of mine...and boy were they right. From the cozy feel of grabbing a seat at the bar, to a wonderful selection of IPAs listed on boards overhead, to neatly, clean handles to draw the golden pour. I opted to give the La Chouffe a try and it hit the spot, so much so I snag another to go along with a small fries with garlic aoili dipping sauce on the side. All were great happy hour snacks after a long work day. Can't wait to go back and try a bit more of their menu. Bartender was super sweet and attentive, cleaning glassware prior to each pour and making sure that any excess foam was rid of before served. If you can find your way in, it's worth it as the products and prices are just right!

Yelp
Stop 4 of our culinary 'eat and drink through NY' self guided tour. Already a few beers and breweries in, we went here as it was a favorite hang out from my sister in law. Old dark place (not in a bad way). Just the mood was too mellow, especially after hitting the other two. We each had a Belgian beer, but I almost wished I never heard of the beers they served. Ordered two medium 'pomme frite'. They were fine but nothing to write home about (hmmm....was that just irony?) Good enough.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is easy to miss! This hole in the wall features only great European style beers on tap. We simply walked in, grabbed a table, and the wait service swooped in to grab our order. Drafts ranged from $6-9 per draft but most are $9. They are worth it! I would love to drop in again.

Yelp
Every time I give a bar/lounge a subpar review, I always preface with...maybe it was an "off" night. Let's hope so. We were looking for a bar to get a drink before a comedy show in the surrounding area, and Vol de Nuit popped up as a beer-centric and cool place to kick it. My boyfriend and I walked over and immediately liked the entrance. It reminds me of those small towns in Italy with their cobblestone floors, where some customers sat (outdoors) chatting in privacy. We walked indoors and the famous "red lights" made the ambiance feel very intimate and warm--so far all great signs! The old school wood and older walls could use an update, but that's the vibe of the place. The beertenders that night weren't very friendly or responsive. We looked up at the beers on tap that are handwritten up above the bar, and were sad to see that they really weren't a "beer bar." There were only 5-6 selections on tap, with options like Blue Moon, Chimay, and Delirium. I could find any of those at my local dive bar, but I thought Vol de Nuit was different. Apparently not. That's fine, we went with two beers on tap which came out too foamy and a bit colder than lukewarm. There were zero sweat drops on our glasses even when we sat down. I guess that was the beer snob in me, but I expected more from a "NYC favorite" according to other reviews. Plus, the two ladies did not seem like they wanted to be there (on a Wednesday night) which was a shame. A light smile or a "you're welcome" would be enough. Not sure that anything about Vol de Nuit would entice me to come back. I can see how this cozy, memorable space might be a major attraction to some, but not for us. Thanks anyways!

Yelp
Toto, we're not in NY anymore... This little piece of Belgium brings me right back to my trip to Brussels in college. Rustic, intimate, top-notch beers, pretzels and French fries. Transportive. My favorite is the raspberry Belgium beer. Grab a seat in the back on a cozy winter night, or a table on the front count yard on a hot summer night. 5 stars!!!!!!

Yelp
This place is nostalgic for me... been coming here since college days at NYU - 10+ years. The great thing about it - atmosphere and drinks\food are always awesome. The bad thing - it's popular and can get packed pretty fast. Why I love Vol de Nuit - this is a great place to get with friends, have some beers and chill. The beer selection is excellent and they do a great job with Belgian classic - Leffe or Chimay is my usual go to beer. They use proper glasses for different beers. With few Chimay Rouge glasses - you will get happy :) The food is also great (granted there is just 2 food items). Fries are well executed and come with multiple sauces (like done in Belgium) - classic Mayo and Ketchup are both good simple choices. Mussels are excellent and usually what I order with beer. Prepared in a nice hot pot, mussels infuse the flavors of stock and taste delicious. My only complaint - sometimes they don't have food (run out of mussels early in the evening). In those cases - I can usually bring food from outside (there is a pierogi\pelmeni cart on 6th ave around the corner). Been here a hundred times and will be here a hundred more (although at some point I may look out of place and old compared to all the NYU kids here)

Yelp
I've come to this place a few times now and it's the perfect spot. It has moody red lighting and it's tucked away from the street through a courtyard. It's a great spot to meet up with friends or a casual date!

Lynn W.

Yelp
A wonderful little find. Charming decor. Delicious Belgian beers on draft. Helpful bartender and owner. Will return.

Yelp
Great atmosphere with red lighting and an excellent selection of Belgian brews. Would definitely return!

Yelp
My friend Corrie likes beer. My friend Corrie likes good beer. My friend Corrie can drink beer. I really like my friend Corrie. Unfortunately i don't get to hang out with my friend Corrie that often, but when it happens it is usually at a place I like. Tonight she picks Vol de Nuit, which is one of my favorite places in the city. Awesome, awesome way to spend a Thursday night! The place is pretty packed, a bit more than I would have expected/liked for a Thursday night. It's ok, since we manage to score two seats at the communal table at the back, right in front of the bar. Palm on draft is a nice, recent addition to Vol de Nuit's beer menu. Unfortunately they were out of it tonight. Ok, I haven't had Leffe Blond in a while, that will do. For the second round I feel like a Corsendonk[1]. Unfortunately they're out of this one too. I get a Leffe Brown instead. you could do a lot worse than a Leffe Blond and a Leffe Brown. Still, being out of two out of two of the beers that I wanted to order, that is not going to impress me. On the way out there's a group of people by the door, one guy is blocking the door with his chair. "Excuse me..." "EXCUSE MEEEE...." Finally the guy notices Corrie, apologizes and moves over. "I am sorry, my friend is a bit of an asshole" says one of the guys in the group, jokingly. "I know", I reply jokingly. "Fuck you guys", says the "asshole" friend. I love New York. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1] I can't help but notice that in their online menu this is listed as CorsenDORK. As a scientis, you gotta love a beer with "dork" in its name...

Yelp
Dimly lit bar in the Village with an average beer selection. Great for a date night, music isn't loud at all so you can actually have a conversation. They lost my credit card here, I think they gave it to the wrong person. After leaving it at the bar the night prior, I come back the next day. They spend 10 minutes looking for the card - it was evident they recall seeing it at some point - but told me they couldn't find it. They then printed me a receipt with an auto-charge tip. This is standard if you leave your card behind at a bar... but, they fully admitted to losing my credit card. I was a bit shocked that they thought this was in any way acceptable. After complaining they removed the entire charge, which I appreciated. However, there was no apology for losing my card.
google avatar

Mel T.

Yelp
Vol de Nuit is a hidden Belgian bar in the West Village. It's got that dim, red lighting that most other NYC Belgian bars have. It's also got the pricey drinks. But with this price tag, you do get quality Belgian beers. You also get the comfort of a seat and no crowds, which is hard to come by at bars in this neighborhood. It wasn't packed for a Friday night, but I imagine it's because a majority of the population frequenting the bars in this area are broke NYU students looking for Off the Wagon type places. Bottom line: Pros - good beer, no crowds, Temptations-era playlist Cons - pricier than average, too much heat
google avatar

Christopher V.

Yelp
Great, old Belgium beer bar. Beers from framboise to delirium tremens. Dim, local, hole in the wall vibe. Popular amongst NYU students, but off hours generally open for the taking!
google avatar

Phil G.

Yelp
Very enjoyable. I would have gone here a long time ago but went in search of E4 Street and have missed out until unexpectedly finding the friendly, quasi-underground shrine to Belgium's greatest social contribution which I call "draught ale". Will return with an emptier stomach and more time.
google avatar

Mihael K.

Yelp
The staff is knowledgable and can offer many suggestions. The bar is beer and wine only, with obvious emphasis on the beer. The wine is incredibly limited and not what I would ever drink otherwise, but for a place that specialized in beer, it was good. For wine, the Pinot Noir is the best option. For beer, there are many selections depending on what you like. The atmosphere is like a divey pub. It's a place you can hang out in groups with friends. While it is casual, it is pretty quiet, much more so than I expected from a beer bar which is a plus. On the bad side, it is so dark in here to the point where you can't even read the menu.
google avatar

Edward W.

Yelp
Hidden spot that you'll easily walk by if you blink too long. This place is more divey without all the grime, so it's a great hangout spot. It was quite loud on a Friday night, but they also have a lower seating area that's quieter. Lots of Belgium beers here, some bottles some tap, but unfortunately doesn't have a quad ale.

Yelp
Major points: Beer & Wine only. Meatballs are alright. Fries are garbage. Manager is an obnoxious and pompous idiot. Mood is dull. My partners wallet was stolen from this place a few weeks ago when a homeless man walked up to our table and swiped in. Cameras couldn't see it and the manager was insanely unhelpful. Prior to this, the manager (also our server) explained to me how food works. We asked for aioli which he wouldn't provide even though they had it. We offered to pay for it and still he wouldn't let us order it for dishes not having it already. I asked him about the beer selection and he stared at me with a look of contempt. Then immediately pushed me to order, so I had a glass of red. A little annoyance? Fine. Not everyone was born with a winning personality. However, when my partners wallet was stolen and he was hardly helpful? Ignoring my concerns along with those brought to the conversation from other tables? Unacceptable. No security at the door and was unfazed this happened. We won't be visiting again. Wasn't a fan before or after our night took a turn. Had he been less busy at the bar sharing instagram likes with the bartender, I fully believe this wouldn't have happened.

John G.

Yelp
This is such a weird bar in that's it's awesome and not too crowded on the weekend. I almost wish more people knew about this but also didn't. It's a gem. To the owners, you should prob put up an actual sign outside that the bar that shows this is bar. You could easily do 3x what's you're doing now but I don't care because this means more beer and service for me. L'chaim.
google avatar

Liz S.

Yelp
For some reason, this place induces a strong nostalgia in me. Maybe it's the soft red lights or the warm summer air-- somehow, it almost feels like being on the front porch of a Texas ice house. Feels like a locals-only spot without being too divey. Beers aren't cheap here, but they are Belgian and not an insane markup. I had a Lindeman's Framboise for $9, and bottles of that (maybe double the size) are usually $12. Order at the bar and take it outside. Snagging a table at 9:30 pm on a Saturday was no problem, although it was decently populated, mostly with a mid-twenties and older crowd. Great place to escape the sometimes fratty atmosphere of Greenwich. Overall, a very pleasant place for a beer, with a unique patio situation.
google avatar

Yelp
Vol de Nuit is one of those bars that if you walk in with your backpack right off the Wide Eyed Express to Penn Station when you're 22, for your first drink as a citizen of New York City, it will probably hold a special place in your heart. I know that for me, it was a haven for good beer at a time when you couldn't just walk into any mediocre bar in the city and order a world-class Belgian ale--a feat that, these days, seems more and more banal. I don't think you have to be an NYU grad student to enjoy it, but I do think that's when VdN will leave the deepest dent in your memory. More the a decade later, this dark bar still holds up and is somewhat of a throwback, serving the same fine Belgian ales and tasty fries it did 15 years ago. Girls still giggle in dark corners, recounting their weekend exploits, and groups still huddle at that big table just off the entrance, enjoying the halcyon days of youth. You can't smoke indoors anymore, but it still feels like it can. And, best of all, it's still just hard enough to find to keep it from being overrun by objectionable types. To the steadfast Village institutions like Vol de Nuit and Old Rabbit Club, I salute you.
google avatar

Kenny C.

Yelp
Vol de Nuit is a Belgian beer bar that's a little bit on the divey side. It's easy to miss as the entrance is pretty nondescript. Look for the wooden sign shaped like a coat of arms or a shield. You walk in, and you're still outside, but keep walking and you get to the inside area (reminds me of Mission Dolores bar in Brooklyn). There's a long communal table as well as some high tops. There's table service, but it's best to just go up to the bar. Bartender is soft-spoken, but he'll have a cure for what ails you (sobriety). Good amount of beers on tap and in bottles (though no prices on the menu). I went with their house saison, which was as refreshing as I expected. Of course, they also have Delirium Tremens, which has been the cause of many a rough morning, as well as La Chouffe. Several Duvel's and Chimay's as well. Definitely worth stopping in for a lowkey drink, though it can get loud.
google avatar

Eli G.

Yelp
Total piece of Belgium. It feels like you're there. Nice touch - they properly pour beer.
google avatar

Justin L.

Yelp
Belgian bar is one of the best bars by NYU. I say Belgian bar, because until I saw this listing I had no idea what its real name was; that's what everyone I've ever spoken to has called it. You go in on there's an outdoor area with seating and a bar that's closed unless they're packed, and then there's a dark, indoors area with more seating and a full bar. All the beer is from Belgium or is Belgiam-style, as you could expect: Hoegaarden, Chimay, Lindeman's, etc. Some of the beers are fairly common in the city now a days, some are more rare. Between the tap and their bottle selection, if you're a beer enthusiast you should be satisfied. Prices are good considering that these beers are much stronger in alcohol content than normal beers--and more satifying. I've their frites a few times which are good for bar food; I wouldn't try anything else. Service is good at the bar, less so if you're at a table outside. This place definitely has that cool "craft" bar vibe to it if that's what you're looking for. I've had some great times here in college just hanging out, and it says something that I continue to come back when I'm in the area. Good beer + relaxed atmosphere = win.
google avatar

Li Z.

Yelp
Interesting spot, you'd never know there was a nice little beer bar unless through a recommendation or from yelp. You walk down a sketchy looking corridor that opens up into a small courtyard. There is a good selection of beer. Staff seems knowledgeable about the brews, and prices are good. Wine is more limited, but you didn't come here for that.
google avatar

Sheena N.

Yelp
Delirium on tap. Umm... i dont think I need to say more. Where can you find it on tap anymore??? Delicious! The interior was very rustic with wood finishes throughout, kind of reminded me of a tavern. The two female bartenders were very friendly and helpful to my friend that needed directions on how to take the subway.
google avatar

Stephanie H.

Yelp
I've been going to Vol de Nuit for years and still really enjoy stopping by when I'm in the neighborhood. My friends and I typically saddle up to the bar once we're inside. I STILL don't understand the point of the "atrium" random outdoor area at the entryway, though, if I do remember correctly, the building beside it used to be an outpost of the main bar -- so I think it used to serve the purpose of a communal space. Either way, there's ZERO ambiance to it, so I highly recommend just going inside. That being said, I prefer to come here in the winter, since the atmosphere is dark and cozy. Beer selection on draft is impressive and there's always something there that I want to order. Prices are pretty typical for the beer type (high-end, high alcohol Belgian beers), and they always serve in the proper glasses. Bartenders aren't always responsive, but they get the job done. One major pitfall is the fact that they stop serving their infamous (and amazing) pommes frites by 10pm. BOO. When coming here at the end of the evening, I want my greasy, horribly unhealthy frites, goshdarnit! And I know I'm not alone. When I expressed my extreme disappointment to the unsympathetic bartender, I heard two other groups of people ask him the same exact question and were similarly disappointed. One other downside would be the bathrooms. One bathroom does not a good bar make. The line can sometimes get crazy stupid long here.
google avatar

Barry W.

Yelp
During the few times i come to NYC each year I always make a point to visit this place nightly. When it comes to Belgian beers, I've not had a purer spot to taste more on tap than Vol de Nuit. It is pure because this spot is all about the beer. I reckon there's dozens of draft beers available. Its inner layout is also conducive to meeting friends. It's fairly small, often congested, with a few tables and an open patio add a lil more space (for smoking mostly). I usually eat something before visiting - you really have to. The high alcohol content of belgian beer will dispose of you quickly if there is nothing else in your stomach. So drop in and try the "Houblan Chouffe" blond ale on tap. It's perhaps the best beer ever. Just stop at 2 or 3 glasses. Warning: more than 3 and your night could become a blur! ;D
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
Definitely a dark pocket of this part of town - but I really like it. You feel like you've happened upon a chill and hidden bar. It's perhaps the divey-ish Belgian bar I've been to in the city. Great Belgian beer selection, of course. The bartender was no frills but definitely was able to pick out the best beer for me given my interests. Plenty of seating. You can feel good in a small group or even a group of 5 or 6.
google avatar

Alexia G.

Yelp
Came here for DINNER AND BEER with my boyfriend. When I sat down, ordered, they only had frites. Where the bleep are the mussels?????? I was very disappointed. We ordered a medium size Frite. It was 7pm, and a waitress came over and said that she charged us for a small because it was the last of the batch, wasn't close to a medium. I thought this was DISGUSTING. We didn't even have strips of fries. It was the cold ends. We shouldn't have even paid for this. Very hot inside and outside. A lot of flies inside and outside (can't be a good sign). I decided to order a beer out of my comfort zone. It tasted like an EMERGEN-C packet you pick up in a pharmacy. We asked to close out, and added a drink to have the check with the beer. Our waiter brought the beer and asked us if he should send the bill. I felt like this was really strange. Not a pleasant place.

Yelp
The coveted five star rating is being granted to Vol de Nuit because of the unmatched selection of Belgian brews. To those non beer drinkers (I, being a former one until last year), this is one establishment that has the potential to change your view. It's a Belgian beer sampler's delight with many taps and bottled selections from which to choose. On a warm summer afternoon, the backdrop of W 4th street bball/handball courts was a complete contrast to the Belgique beer feast going on just behind the brick wall. Try the Lindemans Franbois, you'll never expect beer to taste like this with its fruity essence of raspberries that give the beer a totally unique taste and composition! Move on to the Maredsous, with subdle flavors of coffee and chocolate that you can even smell! Then try the Chimay blue that's smooth, spicy without a heaviness typical of many beers. Save the best for last...Delirium Tremens. If you like Stella, I think you'd LOVE DT. It's a light bodied, clean finished beer with hints of spices and dried fruits...almost a raisiny taste. It is really hard to describe, but I would certainly recommend you trying it. Finally, the wait staff were very friendly, and surprisingly, when I asked our waiter what he knew about Belgium, he replied that he lived there at some point in his lifetime.....and since I am going there in a few months...he was not at all, resistant in asking where we were staying and confirmed that it was a good choice location wise...and we would really enjoy ourselves...but just be ready for the classic Belgium past time...eating and drinking. He also confirmed that a trip to Bruges and Antwerp were worth the time and money. Finally, they serve food....classic Belgium frites and mussels. Try it out and don't be turned off by the decor!

Yelp
Proper Belgium Beers! Went to this place for HH a few weeks ago and I could see it being a really fun spot when the weather is nicer because of the outside patio. It's kind of dark inside and drafty, but the service and beers were good. Nothing mind blowing but it's kind of a locals spot off the beaten path which was fun. Good french fries too!

Yelp
Moules and frites. Frites were a little overfried. Mussels were good. I enjoyed my beer. Mmm raspberry. Inside is a dark, small space. Outdoor seating looks fun, but I'll wait till the weather gets nicer. Voldemort.

Yelp
This definitely should not be labeled a lounge. I don't know how to describe this bar, but my best attempt is a mix of an Irish Pub and a German Beer Garden. They serve beer and wine, but honestly, I don't think they serve wine. You can say red wine or white wine, they won't ask what kind, so they're really just "appeasing" to the masses by offering overpriced, low quality, undrinkable wine. Ok, fine, I'll let you slide, you're a beer place. Well then, please do it right. My Hoegarden was not served with a lemon and it became room temperature in minutes. I gladly left Vol De Nuit and went bar hopping down the street.

Yelp
I was expecting a bit more out of Vol de Nuit. The frites... sounded better than they really were. Honestly -- absolutely nothing special about them, and with all the delicious beers they have on tap or bottle.. you're better of just sticking to them. Kwak served in the kwak style glass - awesome. Corsendonk served in Corsendonk glass - awesome Orval (botttle) - in they type of glass its supposed to be servied - not good -- and very surprising as it's rated 100/100 on Beer Advocate If you're in the mood for Belgian beer, especially on tap... then head to Vol de Nuit. The ambiance of Vol de Nuit... at least to me is non-existent. A bit.. "too divey" for me in all honesty. If you wanna just come enjoy some great beer before dinner, then it's a great spot, but more of an in & out type of place.
