Service: This was our first time visiting Old Town Alexandria, and while we originally had another restaurant in mind, Vola’s won us over with its waterfront location and inviting menu. We were told the wait would be 25 minutes, but we were seated in just 15, already a great start. The staff was warm, friendly, and helpful with recommendations throughout the meal, making us feel right at home. Taste: We started with the crab hush puppies and oysters, both were so flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and reasonably priced. For our main course, we had the shrimp and grits and the fish and chips. Both dishes were fresh, satisfying, and generously portioned. Every bite was devoured. The drink of the night was a summer Prosecco and passion fruit special, light, refreshing, and delicious. The best part? The refill was cheaper. More restaurants should definitely take notes on that. Ambiance: Vola’s has the perfect laid-back yet elevated waterfront vibe. The view of the water, paired with a lively but not overwhelming crowd, made for a relaxed and memorable evening. It’s great for first-timers to Old Town, date nights, or a dinner out with friends. Overall Review: Vola’s was a pleasant surprise and a spot we’ll definitely be revisiting. From the quick seating and great service to the flavorful food and creative drinks, everything hit the mark. Highly recommend if you’re in the area, you’ll want to come back too.

LOVED this eatery located on the Potomac. My friends and I rode the King Street trolley to the last stop, and walked the couple of blocks to Cameron Street and the water's edge. I would advise reservations because the place gets busy. You can eat indoors or out on the dock. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. I consider myself a hush puppy snob, lol. I ordered the crab hush puppies- the best ever!! Seriously delicious. Also ordered the coconut shrimp, which was also really good, and I especially enjoyed the creole claw slaw! Portions are plentiful! The only situation I wished to be different would be to have more space between the tables on the dock. Also, there are heaters if need be on the dock for added warmth.

In a word: Nice. Everything about this restaurant is so nice: from the views to the atmosphere of the restaurant itself and the service, all is a nice experience. It is a very big place as they have seating in different places. I particularly enjoyed the covered seating on the outside near the water. The menu was varied and offered a variety of seafood options. I enjoyed the crispy crunchy hush puppies and the clam chowder. Very tasty! The service was excellent as well. Would I return to this restaurant? Yes!

Always great for a meal on the water. Solid selection of seafood and non-seafood dishes. Upscale bar food, good cocktails

This was my first time at this restaurant. Initially there are what appears to be two host stands so it made it a little confusing where to wait for the host. When the host returned, he was abrasive. Luckily the waiter made up for the not great first impression. The waiter was laid back and helpful when it came to recommendations. The restaurant itself is right next to the water which makes for good scenery. The table and water glasses were clean but can’t say the same about the seats. Every single one of them had the previous person’s crumbs all over it. They have a big drink menu and decent food menu. They got the food out pretty fast for a table of seven. The food looks and tastes amazing! I got the seared shrimp taco and it was so good. It had corn tortilla shells and a delicious sauce on top. The blue crab chowder had a good balance of taste to it. Overall it was a good experience and would recommend to a friend.

My family and I went in with very high expectations based on former reviews. Upon entering everything seemed fine. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Be prepared to yell at the people in your party because the music was loud enough that was the only way to talk to the people at your table. Then we were waited on by a very nice gentleman who explained to us that their fryer was broken so fish and chips, as well as many other menu items could not be ordered. After a discussion we decided to stay anyway because sometimes things you can control do happen. Two of our party ordered herb encrusted baked rock fish. The sides with this dish include scallop potato, and glazed Brussels sprouts. On both orders the Brussels sprouts were so hard they were inedible. This is the reason behind the three stars. I have been told by others in our party their food was quite good though.

We had a nice time. Service is great. But …. I honestly don’t think the food is as great as others think. . The food is good. Not great. I found the beet salad was good, but overdressed. The ahi tuna is ok . Oysters selection is good. Hamburger and fried chicken sandwich were good. The chowder was very good. We had a nice time. Servers were friendly.

OK! Let me start by saying how much I love this place so my review might be biased.. Number one pro of this place, Is the view my God! Mark the view from here is beautiful if you died outside on the waterfront space they have. The the ambience is amazing and the music they play at the bar is like Etta James and soul.. That being said they have a nice happy hour menu with a couple apps all under $10 as well as a variety of drinks all under $10 . Let me start with my favorites. The peel and eat shrimp, OMG! Jim mark best peel and eat shrimp I've ever had perhaps they are steamed and served warm in a grill dry rub. Not the traditional old not the traditional obey or served chilled. I come here just for those shrimp. The other thing that is bomb is the frozen drinks on a hot summer day. The Orange crush is lovely and they have another flavor as well sometimes I get the mix of half-and-half which is amazing. The spicy mussels appetizer is it's so good, I wish they had pasta. Coz I would sure order a side of pasta to eat with it. The Buffalo chicken sliders on happy hour I have yet to take a picture of because when they come I eat them so quickly I can't even think to take a photo. Did you see Lucy sliders are good as well.. And their French fries are fresh cut and soft and hot only inside and crunchy on the outside my favorite type of French fry. They do mess up the bill sometimes because you don't close out your bill at the bar because all the tabs are shared so it can get confusing so just check your tab before you pay . More pics and posts to come next time I go there. Until then enjoy!
