Food was great! Atmosphere was nice and cozy, very home-y vibes. Service was nice and speedy. Definitely recommend the gumbo, I had the chicken gumbo which was delicious. Also had a seafood platter which was solid, and boyfriend had the hamburger steak which he really liked. Overall a great experience and has definitely improved since Kitchen Nightmares! Will be back again!

Google
What a lovely small, family operated, seafood dining. We’ve got fishermen’s platter, flounder lafitte (special), fish platter. Fish was fresh and delicios, with thin and crunchy breadcrumbs. Flounder tastes amazing. Service was quick and friendly. Jambalaya sides were rich, with solid chunks of sausage.

Google
Very authentic look and atmosphere, Family owned and operated. If you’re coming to Louisiana I believe this is a must stop to grab a delicious bite. The salad was a good portion, it was my first time trying hush puppies so it’s hard to compare but they tasted very doughy. The BBQ Shrimp was amazing but the bacon could have been a little more cooked. Now for the two entrees, starting off with the shrimp and crawfish fettuccine was cooked to perfection, a nice pasta with a flavorful sauce, the toast was an added bonus. The chicken and oyster noodles were as well delicious but came more watery than the pasta almost like a soup but rich with flavor. This establishment made me feel right at home and very clean with amazing service. I look forward to coming back.

Google
Was in town for work and stopped by for lunch. I got the Bayou Trout and it didn’t disappoint. It was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. The service and food was great. I have no complaints.

Google
Voleo’s seafood restaurant is a great Mom and Pop’s type place. Definitely a hidden gem. Food portion was huge. The shrimp pasta was delicious! It even heated back up very well later on (since I couldn’t finish it and one sitting). Honey mustard on the salad tasted homemade. I can’t remember the name of the older woman who served me, but she was very kind and helpful. Things to note: This place is small and confined, but don’t let that deter you from their wonderful service and food! If you don’t like small places, I recommend takeout. Unlike some place that never answer the phone, their phone was ringing off the hook, and they were answering every call! I noticed this when I walked up front. It was really cold inside even with a coat. I wish it was a little warmer inside. My overall experience was great. I will return if I’m in the area!

Google
We had a very fine experience here: seafood was fresh and flavorful, service quick and friendly, and we will recommend this place to anyone. Very very good!

Google
This place does it right and has tasty, fresh food. Family members still working the business (awesome and genuine). Has the seafood pasta dish. It was very good. I strongly recommend this establishment and like that it is not snotty; rather, it's for Americans that love N.O. culture. These folks are authentic and their food is, too. Loved it.

Google
Cute little family run restaurant. May not look too inviting from the outside, but inside is a different story. The server Janet is incredibly nice and welcoming. As for the food, took a while to decide due to a large menu, but I went with the Flounder Lafitte, a dish that Gordon Ramsay tried when he visited for the show “Kitchen Nightmares,” which this restaurant WAS featured on. Don’t let that fool you… The food was amazing and fresh. I sampled other menu items that my guests ordered… no complaints at all. Portion sizes are large, so be sure to come super hungry! Highly recommend!!!

Larry H.

Yelp
Tried Voleos for the first time after watching the TV episode for Gordon Ramsey, and the did not disappoint! Reservations are recommended, and they had our table ready on time! Very casual and family friendly dining atmosphere. It is family owned and I had the opportunity to speak to them, and you can tell they absolutely care about their customers and their restaurant is their passion! They are absolutely some of the friendliest and sincere people I have ever met. When the food came out, looked great. While my son just had a children's grilled cheese and fries (looked great), my wife had the eggplant Parmesan and I had the fried catfish with Jambalaya. Portions were excellent, so much so we had to take food home. The fried catfish was wonderful and tasty and the eggplant Parmesan was a huge amount and my wife loved it, of course I snuck a few bites too! While we did not get it, they have very large portions of onion ring appetizers which I'll definitely try next time. We will be back and highly recommend this family owned restaurant.

Yelp
I have never had a bad experience or food from Voleo's . The food has always been very good.

Yelp
We visited this restaurant after watching Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares Super Bowl... The staff was so nice and service great. We didn't want to order too much food, so we shared onion rings, fried chicken with a side of jambalaya and sweet potato fries. The onion rings were so good, and the fried chicken was outstanding. The restaurant was busy with the lunch crowd. If we lived closer to Westwego, we would be regulars, as it's always good to support local.

Anthony M.

Yelp
I will start off saying that when we entered the restaurant, there was only one table available. Which to me gives the appearance that it's pretty good food. We sat down at the available table and we immediately asked what we would like to drink. We were told to just ask any server for anything we needed as they share responsibilities in the dining area. The service was excellent, and both the ladies that waited on us were very good natured. We chose to order onion rings as an appetizer and they were very well cooked with the proper breading and a good size. My companion for lunch who is a salesman for one of my vendors chose to have the breaded veal with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, and the entrée also comes with a side salad. I decided I would have the same thing without the potatoes and wanted to choose a different vegetable however, there were no other vegetables on the menu. Overall the food was good. The veal was delicious and properly cooked. My companion said the mashed potatoes and gravy were excellent. In my opinion, this is a great place for lunch and the locals are fortunate to have it there. I would eat here again if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Great atmosphere I really enjoyed their seafood platter. Will definitely be back again

Yelp
Had dinner there tonight and as usual the food and service was exceptional! The food here is always cooked to perfection and very tasty ! There was a homeless man hanging around the restaurant and the owner ran him off. We have always enjoyed dining with these folks. Have been away for a while and after dining there again we were not disappointed. Superb food for a fair price! Keep up the great job VoLeos!! And I missed my Westego's smallest waitress Ms. Lilly. Thank you for being one of the best restaurants on the westbank.
google avatar

Susan J.

Yelp
So Good!! Friendly and quick service! Little spot off the beaten path, but the food will bring you back! He had the shrimp and fries platter and it was great. But the star was the Pasta Diane! A butter and garlic sauce with pasta and shrimp and crawfish and oysters and mushrooms! A large and delicious portion!

Yelp
We were hungry after visiting Jean Lafitte National Park. Quick search led us to Voleo's which is located in an open-air theater along the intracoastal canal. The staff was very friendly! Ordered the creole gumbo, crab boudain balls and a muffuletta - all were amazing!!! It was so nice to sit outside under the shade and take in the waterway. Voleo's is a hidden gem!

Yelp
It's been a long time coming but it felt so good to be in Voleos restaurant again (they have been closed since Hurricane Ida destroyed their business). They are now located in Westwego. They were very busy so we had to wait a bit for the food But make no mistake....the food is definitely worth the wait. We started with the crawfish enchilada followed by shrimp & crawfish pasta and their eggplant pirogue with a crawfish pepper sauce over angel hair pasta. Amazing! And the staff, though super busy made sure we never went thirsty and checked on us often. Everyone is always super friendly. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. You won't be disappointed

Yelp
We had service instantly by a really nice waitress. We asked if they served fried catfish and that's what we got. It was delicious and served with a really good tarter sauce and fries and a salad. Then she brought out a big scoop of pecan caramel bread pudding, everything was very good. This was our first time eating there but won't be the last. The exterior of the building didn't look like a restaurant in my home area and I drove right past it, but we saw a sign somewhere and pulled in. The place filled up quickly as it's not a large place. I definitely recommend this place for fried catfish filets.

Ed K.

Yelp
We have been fortunate over the years to enjoy the food and service from Voleo and family. His location in Westwego is easy to find, and there is plenty of parking, which is really convenient. Everything we ordered was fresh, cold sides were ice cold, and anything fried was spectacular. Voleo has always maintained high standards, and it reflects every time we visit.

Yelp
My husband and I shared a seafood platter (to go). The food was very good and fresh. We will definitely be repeat customers. I would like to try other dishes on their menu.

Kim P.

Yelp
Wow - we had a very large group so we sampled about 15 different items and every single dish was delicious! The staff was so nice! Definitely stop here!!
google avatar

Bill M.

Yelp
The Poutine is very good. The Crawfish platter was good. In general all the fried fish we had was tasty because the breading is great. The Crawfish and shrimp pasta dish was amazing. The gumbo was decent, the jambalaya was average. The portions are a little small for the price. The sweet tea was quite good and the service was friendly, efficien, and attentive. I haven't tried other places in the area but I would before I'd come back here.

Yelp
While on an Airboat Adventure Swamp Tour, our boat operater told me about this place. I asked him where he likes to go for seafood in New Orleans and he said that he doesn't go into New Orleans for seafood. He said the best seafood is right here in the bayou. I took his advice and turned to yelp for some suggestions. When I found this place on the yelp app, I was a bit hesitant because although they have a 4.5 star rating, there was only 40+ reviews. All my skepticism vanished once I read that the reviews were written by travelers and not local folks. The food here is exceptional. The seafood comes from local fisherman and their boats are right next to the restaurant on the water. Take a look at my photo. The recipes are authentic cajun and the place is family owned and operated. Inside has a lot of character with trinkets and other sea worthy items adorning the walls. The staff is super friendly and personable. Our server was super cute in the way she communicated and her upbeat personality. Here's what we ordered: Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, 5.0 stars This was theeeeee best gumbo I have ever tasted! I always thought that gumbo was made with a roux to produce a thick stew like consistancy, but not according to our server. Apparently, real cajun gumbo is like a soup, not a stew. This gumbo was full of tender, shredded chicken, andouille sausage, shrimp, tomatoes, onions, black pepper and rice. It was so flavorful with the consistancy of a soup. Almost like homemade chicken soup with lots of black pepper, fresh poultry and seafood. Simply put, it was like a big ole hug from my momma. Seafood Platter, 5.0 stars This blew me away! I came to New Orleans knowing that I would eat some of the best seafood dishes in the world. I never thought that my best seafood ever eaten would be from the Louisiana Bayou and not from New Orleans. I have some friends that gave me suggestions on where to eat during my trip. Evidently, none of them have gone to the bayou to eat the freshest stuff possible. The batter was super light and crispy. It held no heavy oil, so the platter was light with the flavors of the seafood coming through with each bite. I was in complete Seafood Heaven with the fresh oysters, shrimp, fish, crab-stuffed shrimp and crab-stuffed crab! Green Salad with Bleu Cheese Dressing, 3.0 stars This was your run of the mill, ice berg lettuce house salad with packaged bleu cheese dressing. The lettuce was fresh, but the dressing was less than stellar. Well, it was okay, but not on pair with the main entrees. Simply Wonderful find in the Bayou! I will be back on my next visit to The Big Easy and so should you!

Alea C.

Yelp
I had the seafood platter. So tasty and flavorful. A Cajun classic. The owner was so nice. Loved the food will def be back.

Fred D.

Yelp
So happy we took the ride. Glad to support local businesses and the food was delicious. My Blacken Flounder with a shrimp and crawfish sauce was great. Wife's seafood platter was full and all were served hot. Chantel was such a great ambassador for the restaurant and her service was amazing. If you looking for a locals restaurant this is the place.

Yelp
Sometimes when a girl is on a quest for some good grub, a girl finds herself in the bayou. My quest for tasty food took me to deep Lafitte where I had heard raves about a little local spot called Voleo's. Walking in, I could immediately tell that this was my type of place: the smell of good food filled the air, there was cool local memorabilia on the wall and everyone seemed to know each other. My dad and I took a seat and the waitress came right over, handed us some menus and told us about the specials. The menu is packed with all kinds of seafood choices as well as a selection of sandwiches and even German food. I got the Flounder Lafitte, which is fried fish topped with a yummy sauce and served with a side salad and fries. Well, the food lived up to the hype: not only was it delicious, but the sauce on the fish sent the whole meal over the top. There was A LOT of food here and it was super- well priced, definitely my kind of joint. The waitress made sure that we enjoyed everything and she just couldn't have been friendlier. I can tell that this is a family spot and everyone here takes pride in their food. I would absolutely recommend this spot- it's worth the drive and the food is fantastic.

Yelp
it would be nice if the posted when the are closed. drove down on sunday only to find it closed even though the web site said open
google avatar

Yelp
This place is awesome. For real LA menu and made with soul the right way. If you bring you catch of redfish they'll cook it three ways. Great menu with all the LA seafood and what not and more.
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Down home Cajun cooking with some great helpers. While we were there this sweet little girl was there helping fill the cocktail sauce. She came over and took empty glasses and was just adorable. Kind staff, the locals coming in were as sweet as can be and food was incredible.
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
They arc shut down. Hurricane damage. Have not opened up again! So sad. There are other good options around.

Arthur C.

Yelp
Excellent food, This is what real Cajun food is all about. Chef Voleo and his crew make you feel like your family.
google avatar

Yelp
From the very first time we drove down to Volio's, it's been a favorite. A friend took us, and now we've shared it with plenty of other friends. Always good food! The fun, casual atmosphere is kicked-back and mellow. Not fancy, but oh-so-worth-the-drive from NOLA!
google avatar

Christopher W.

Yelp
One of the best mom and pop joints I have ever been to. In the small town of Lafite comes a lunch and dinner spot that serves some of the best down home seafood and Italian you can get. We ordered the daily special on Monday red beans and rice and it was delish. My Italian friend ordered the eggplant parm that was delish. Next to us was a group that ordered the seafood platter that looked to die for. It was huge, could feed four people easy and even had exotic items like frog legs. A great find and well worth the trip just for the food and experience.
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
After going on the Jean Lafitte Swamp Cruz we were craving something fresh and local, our guide gave us this recommendation. So delicious! We had the Creole jumbo and seafood platter. Such warm and flavorful food. The breading on the fried items may have been the best I've had, stayed on so well. Not greasy at all. Great service, lots of locals too!Go here!!
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
We wanted to experience traditional Louisiana food without the tourist experience and found this place. Is well worth the drive, the staff was super friendly and patient when we were deciding what we wanted to eat and the food was absolutely delicious with huge portions!
google avatar

Dennis Y.

Yelp
A MUST place when you're in Nawlins. Great food and friendly service. The place is a bit challenging to find, but is well worth the visit. They aerve a bit too much french fries and you can ask them to slow their roll if you need to watch your carbs.

Gaby D.

Yelp
This was by far the best food we had on our vacation. They have the best customer service. Thanks Rosa!
google avatar

Edward C.

Yelp
Don't let your first impression fool ya! This place is amazing. The service was a little slow but the friendliness well made up for it. You feel the local flare here with many local families eating here and making small talk when they enter. The food was also outstanding. I had the Voleo's Supreme hamburger and it was cooked to perfection. I didn't even have to tell them how I wanted the patty cooked and it came out perfect. The sautéed onions and mushrooms go perfectly with the hamburger. Also they claim to have the coldest bottled beer in town and they are not lying about that. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will definitely be making trips back while fishing in Lafitte.

Karen M.

Yelp
Excellent service and FOOD!! Great portions and the seafood was amazing! The Catfish was the beat I have tasted ! Homemade food with a down home atmosphere!!
google avatar

Calvin M.

Yelp
Restaurant in the boondocks that charges French Quarter price. The food was good. Seafood was well fried, jambalaya was solid, and stuff fish was good. Though the crawfish sauce had no taste. The gumbo was very watery. It was like a soup. I don't think they took the tine to make a rue. The service was very sloooowwww.... We waited an hour for our food and they tacked on 18% gratuity. I probably won't go back there again.
google avatar

Lawren D.

Yelp
Met a bunch of my friends here over the weekend for some fresh seafood. I can't get good seafood in NC. I love coming here. The food is always AMAZING! The best seafood I have ever had. Much better than those busier places, like Acme Oyster House or Deanie's Seafood. My husband and I shared the big seafood platter. It was a ton of food. We barely ate half. It had fried fish, fried shrimp, fried crawfish, fried soft shell crab, fried crab cakes (my fave), fried stuffed shrimp, and fried stuffed crab claws, along with fries and toast. It's definitely worth the price!!! The seafood gumbo was okay. I'm not a big fan of sausage in gumbo, so I could've done without. This is a great place to eat and hang out. I've heard they have really good pizza, but I've never had it. Always seafood!!!
google avatar

Emerald C.

Yelp
I met one of my friends there last night. It was quit a hike to get there from Terrytown, but oooooooohhhh so worth it. The food was delicious!!!!!!!!!! Service was great. Lydia is extremely sweet and personable. We will be back! (during the day, because the roads are so dark at night) The cajun eggrolls are a MUST!!!!!!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Voleo's is worth the stop or drive, whichever your situation is in LA. Fish is fresh caught and cooked to perfection! Service is quick and very friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
I have stopped in here for lunch several times. I've had the daily specials and grilled shrimp salads - everything has always been good.

Yelp
So we just moved to Lafitte in Dec. and was looking for a place to order from last Monday night and we didnt want to go up front. Thank god this place was the only one open, i really didnt want to order since the price is a little on the high side but it was worth every penny!! My wife had the eggplant pirouqe, the kids both had the kids fish with fries, and i had the shrimp and crawfish pasta. All we could do was eat and tell each other how much better our food was that each others lol. This food was amazing i thought to myself, no way this will be any good as i pulled up but now all i can say is i cant wait to hit that lil shack again!!
google avatar

Darren K.

Yelp
Great hole in the wall seafood place. Fast service. Awesome food. Fair prices. Nothing fancy yet if you're after great seafood this is it.
google avatar

Dmitry D.

Yelp
Very click'ish. Expect good service if you are local, expect bad service if you are not. The personnel was too busy trying to close (even though we arrived 1.5 hours before close). They didn't care about us ("Nobody here, except the 2 new fowlks"). Really, nobody cared about us. I had to get up and walk to the counter to fix mischarges for 4 out of 5 items that were charged wrong. After second attempt they finally figured it ok. Avoid. Go elsewhere
google avatar

Yelp
THE FOOD IS EVERYTHING!!!!! So good and fresh!!!!!!! And great service! Great spot to go to after Airboat Adventures. Get the seafood platter!

Yelp
There are few places you can get the quality of seafood available at Voleos. Their blackened Flounder is the perfect dish. Amazing staff and even more amazing German dishes. All crafted with care and passion to be delectable and delicious. As customers of nearly 20 years we love the variety and portions are out of control!! If you leave hungry it's your own fault!
google avatar

Denise E.

Yelp
We drove down to Lafitte to see the bayou and stopped for lunch here. We were so glad we did! My favorite kind of local restaurant. Small family run place with nothing but locals. I had the fried shrimp and they were amazingly fresh , lightly battered and Not over cooked! Delicious.... My husband had the muffuletta (small) and it was fantastic. The small was big enough that I got to have several bites. Yum. Our server was friendly and took great care of us.
google avatar

Crystal L.

Yelp
Worth the drive! The food at Voleo's is delicious! I've never been disappointed when we've eaten there. Their eggplant pirogue is where its at!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
If you are close to here. It is a must. Slow service but well worth the wait. You will not be disappointed with the food.

Gina M.

Yelp
Off the beaten path type of place and 10000% worth it. Hidden gem. Looking forward to making a return trip.

Sunshinetoj R.

Yelp
We ate here after an airboat tour with my family. It was Monday and other restaurants were closed. So glad we found it. They were so sweet and went the extra mile for each of us. The kids had sandwiches, my husband had a po boy and I had fried chicken. I also had them make a strawberry daiquiri. (It was the end of July (hot). All of our food was excellent. Much better than the overpriced dinner in the French quarter last night. If we are ever back in town, we will definitely go back. PS- it is like anywhere else in the world, if you are nice to people they will be nice back.
