Vollpension – Wien, Austria - Gastro Obscura

"While many restaurants may claim to serve homespun comfort food “just like grandma used to make,” at this Viennese café, the baked goods are made by real grandmas. Vollpension, or “full pension” in German, is a social enterprise that aims to give local retirees a chance to connect with people while earning extra income. The staff consists of a squad of Omas (grandmothers), with a few Opas (grandfathers) onboard for good measure. Order a slice of apple strudel or Sachertorte, Austria’s famous chocolate cake layered with jam, and the Oma who baked it from her family recipe may tell you all about it. In 2012, Mike Lanner and Moriz Piffl came up with the idea of using food as a means to help bridge the generation gap and address growing levels of isolation and poverty among the elderly. Two years later, they were touring the country in a revamped VW van with 10 Omas. The pop-up café was such a success that they decided to create a more permanent establishment. By 2015, they had set up shop in a cozy, kitschy space that leans into the grandma aesthetic with plenty of tchotchkes and lace doilies. A second branch opened in 2019, and the founders hope to continue to expand. Guests planning to linger may wish to opt for one of the Granny Care Packages, which come with unlimited hot drinks such as coffee, tea, or cocoa, or cold beverages such as iced tea and lemonade, for a set amount of time, as well as various sweets or dishes. For homesick travelers or locals, it’s the next best thing to Kaffee und Kuchen (coffee and cake) at grandma’s house. Know Before You Go Coffee and cake may be the main attraction here, but there are also hearty Austrian breakfast platters in the morning and wine spritzers in the afternoon." - maydaydancer, raphaela, otterwhere, WhiskeyBristles, Diana Hubbell

Vollpension: Where the cake is homemade, and so is the emotional whiplash. I spent a cozy €12 afternoon here, nibbling on a slice of orange chocolate cake and sipping coffee while basking in the loving gazes of Vienna’s true national treasures — the baking grandmas and grandpas. Their warm smiles made me feel like I was back in my childhood kitchen — if my childhood included excellent branding and a coin-based cake economy. The cake? Decadent. Like grandma accidentally dropped a piece of sunshine into a vat of chocolate and said, “Oops, serve it anyway.” Worth every cent. Now, let’s talk vibes. The older staff radiated joy and purpose; they could have tucked me in for a nap and I’d have let them. The younger staff, however, looked like they were drafted into service after a cancelled techno festival. But hey, it’s a full-pension operation — balance is important. And the Grandma-Coin system? Brilliant. It’s like a Chuck E. Cheese token, but instead of games, you get diabetes — lovingly baked. 4.5/5 if I could, but let’s keep them humble: ★★★★☆

On a visit to Vienna we booked a table here as we had seen this cafe on the Joanne lumley travels through the Danube, a quirky place based on the pensioners of Austria given a chance to come together and bake delicious cakes and share recipes. Very homely!

Google
Austrian grandma-core at its finest. Cosy, wholesome, and strong coffee. It starts filling up after 8:30am so if youre dropping in without a reservation, you might want to get there a little earlier. They have a large shared table for solos and an English menu (also oat milk). You can also buy some granny merch. Definitely visit if you can!

Google
We arrived for a late lunch (or breakfast really lol) and enjoyed the ambient atmosphere with the grandmas chatting and making us feel welcome. Food was good (standard breakfast options) and lemonade with ginger on a hot day was perfect. This is a great concept and no one can argue with the food!

Google
I know the concept is cute and all but this place is about as stressful as it gets. It wasn’t cosy at all - it’s extremely loud and people are constantly rushing around you. I don’t understand this cake token idea at all as it’s part of the reason why it feels like people are walking around the cafe and standing around in line. Coffee was good and the Sachet Torte was good but the cherry cake was very dry. The prices are too high for a spot that’s outside of the first district. Overall the vibe is: money making grannies on speed!

Google
Lovely spot with a great concept. The Linzertorte was delicious and so were the various Aufstriche. Great coffee too…. as you can see on the photo … we enjoyed every last bite:)

Google
An unexpected highlight of my trip to Vienna. While I appreciate the Coffee House culture in Vienna, Vollpension is probably my favourite coffee experience. I love the concept of the business, seniors who serves patrons at the cafes with their delicious cakes, coffee and more. They bake cakes in the cafe, so as you're admiring the energy and adorable decor, you also get a whiff of the best smell of all, delicious cakes being baked. The cafe had this warmth that reminds you of a big hug and a reminder to pause and notice the details. I'd even go so far to say I'll spend my retirement working here if I could learn German!

Google
We had to find a place for a breakfast for 4 adults with 4 children and I found a review about this place from a local food blogger. We were seated inside despite the large number of guests, in cozy home atmosphere, where cooked and served by grandparents. We ordered oatmeal and eggs for the kids and shakshuka for the adults, homemade pastries and traditional desserts. At the end, the hostess treated us to homemade egg liqueur 🙃 The prices were reasonable, the service and atmosphere were great, so this place is now in my notes.

Yelp
This place was so cute and homey and run by sweet ladies. .The decor was lovely, kinda vintagie with an Oma and opa kind of feel :D Lots of outdoor seating and it was bustling. We grabbed a cozy table outdoors. I ordered their special for 13.90 Euros- .5 L of homemade lemonade, choice of hot drink, and choice of a slice of cake. My server gave me a cute Oma coin to go indoors to redeem a slice of cake of my choice. They had about 4 cakes available at the time and I chose the vegan carrot cake. The lady behind the counter was so sweet and happy to cut a fresh slice and asked me if I wanted a small or large slice. I said large pls : D It was delicious and I really enjoyed the icing. Loved decaf latte with oat milk, esp the milk foam on top. The homemade lemonade was nice and light- sparking water with a hint of lemon and mint, and not meant to be super sweet. Really enjoyed the vibes and it was a beautiful day to enjoy a latte with cake!

Yelp
Looking through a lot of reviews it seems apparent that the atmosphere and environment take top spot in the high praise - the food we found to be very forgettable. We had excellent service, our waiter was quirky - but didn't really have any suggestions after the dish I wanted was sold out. I really wanted to try buchteln, and they said they sold out yesterday of their rolls... which sounded odd, aren't they making fresh rolls in house? I settled for a lemon cake that was made the previous day, had decent flavor but wasn't anything memorable. Cafe au lait was solid! We also did their pretzel, sausage, and mini beer dish. Again, nothing to really complain about but very middle of the road, pretzel was a bit dry. I think we'd skip the novelty of Vollpension next time.

Yelp
The cutest, coziest spot in the city Lovingly described as "granny's public living room," Vollpension is a space for the elderly to combat loneliness and find purpose. If that mission alone doesn't draw you in, come for their wide array of homemade eats! Start with Aunty Paula's Pure Savoury Delight (€13.9), a plate of spreads, cheese, veggies, and a basket of bread. Rly simple and light, essentially girl dinner but Viennese And for something sweet, try their famous buchteln (€9.9)! Yeast buns filled with plum jam & served with warm, sweet vanilla sauce Tastes like pastry cream.

Yelp
Love this place! 10/10 vibes. It was recommended by a friend whose family member studied abroad in Vienna. It is run by grandparents giving this a homey feel. Make sure to try their cake - you'll get a token and get to redeem it at the cake counter where a grandma will ask you which slice you want.
google avatar

Lila L.

Yelp
Great cute concept to support the elderly but cakes/drinks were not up to par. Perhaps it was towards the end of the day (5:30pm) when I dropped in but there were not many cake options left. I got a chocolate cake which was quite dry and a hot chocolate that was lukewarm and tasted like it was from an instant packet. Interior is cozy with lots of picture frame decors which definitely gives you that feeling of being at your grandparent's home. Happy to have supported, but quality of cake was absent for me.

Maria A.

Yelp
Enjoyed the food and ambience as well as their warm and excellent service! Price was not bad either!

Yelp
My friend and I were in search of breakfast in the area, as it was very close to our Airbnb. After passing a couple spots that were too crowded, we got lucky and were able to squeeze into one of the big tables. They were very busy, but it took a while for our order to get taken. They all seemed to speak English and have English menus so don't worry if you aren't up on your German like me. We got the breakfast platter for two which had all manner of delicious eats. It seriously kept us full for the entire day. My minus one star is because one of the eggs Benedict was like a hard boiled egg... and unfortunately the one that I got! My friends' egg was perfect. I'd have asked for a new one because that drives me crazy but it would've been too long I think. Would eat here again. Can recommend.

Yelp
Warm and efficient Oma style service. I needed a light dinner so the small breakfast set had just enough protein and carb intake. It's really good as you get refills on your drinks which is why the crowd was very young. A great hang out place. If you only wanted drinks, there's a menu item for that too. Pretty glad I dropped by this social enterprise. More for meet ups and catch ups!

Yelp
This place is so cute inside and the service menu is a very interesting concept I've never experienced before! The place is designed to be like the inside of someone's home, a grandma's home to be specific. There is furniture and coffee tables and lots of interesting pictures on the walls and grandma trinkets tastefully placed. There are even grandma like servers to create a whole atmosphere. The service was EXCELLENT! I came here for breakfast and ordered off the small breakfast section. I got the Striezel breakfast which was 3 slices of brioche, butter, jam and honey. This includes two unlimited drinks so I picked a black coffee and iced tea. I also added an upgrade of Grandpa eggs Benedict. The breads and spreads were good but the eggs Benedict was a tad cold and not was I was expecting. It was served in a jar with triangle shaped toast. Next time, I will stick to grandma's cooking instead of grandpa's! You have a total of 90 minutes to enjoy your meal but you can also add on more time at 5,90 euros for 30 minutes which includes a beverage flat rate.
google avatar

Ruben Q.

Yelp
I loved the service and friendliness of everyone who works here. I can't wait to return. I'm a little disappointed that seating time is limited to 60-90 minutes. You pay a flat rate for all you can eat and drink during that time. It's a good idea but I wanted to linger.

Yelp
DO NOT TAKE KIDS. If you're an adult and have no kids or would go here without kids- yes by all means. Pretend this review is 5 stars then and go. Just not hungry. Portions are very small and options limited. The concept of this cafe is visiting granny. Local seniors act as hosts and do the baking of the famous cakes. I'm told they're delicious. As a gluten free person I couldn't try any which is understandable! Flour in the omelette was disappointing though. The decor is precious. Antiques all over the walls. Antique furniture- the theme is carried out perfectly! Here is where we get to the no kids recommendation. I'll just spell it out so it's clear: 1) grannies does not = friendly. Especially in Austria. I say this as an Austrian (we are low key proud of our unfriendliness). This played out upon arrival already. Our granny host let us know that had she known we had two strollers- she would not have granted us a table. 2) the granny did an aggressive "shush" with hand motion at my toddler. Incredibly rude and condescending. She then brought him a toy. An antique arabesque. He played with it for a bit. The toddler was then intrigued by all the antiques hung at reaching distance. Again, lovely decor. Do not fault this. It is an impossible scenario with a curious toddler though. 3) our order was brought out inconsistently. Drinks came 15 min after the food. Not great with kids. 4) service was... well passive aggressive. Friendly but in a the person was annoyed way. More passive aggressive than regular Viennese table service. We found ourselves desperate to pay and go trying to wrangle the kids around the antiques. They have a no phones program which we could have easily forgone but really all the antiques were too interesting to the toddlers regardless! In conclusion, by all means go and enjoy the lovely theme with a social mission of supporting seniors. Please do. Just don't take kids.

Yelp
Super super cute place. Despite Austria priding itself on its unfriendliness it's actually quite nice/not rude despite cafe culture sometimes being that. I really enjoyed my 60-min seating with unlimited drinks (hot/cold) and the cake. Will definitely recommend this to my friends and possibly come back for another meal before I leave. Many people say they don't take card but they do now!
google avatar

Colin H.

Yelp
Amazing idea where you pay it forward! Fantastic idea where you pay what you think it's worth. It's worth a lot because it's awesome! Traditional Austrian breakfasts and pastries. I would definitely come again.

Yelp
When Yelping places to dine in Austria, I never thought that I would stumble upon such a cute and unique establishment like Vollpensipn. The places is run by grandmas (called "oma") and some younger workers. The grannies do all of the cooking and baking while the younger manages the cashier. The decor is oddly adorable as well, mismatched furniture and dishes. You never know what you're going to get. Their bathrooms are clean and also adorable (all of the women's restroom fixtures were pink!). One thing to note, Vollpension is a cash only establishment.

C R.

Yelp
Adorable, fresh food. The staff is super sweet. The ambiance was great!! Can't wait to come back!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Lots of people love this but not me. We called them the Granny Grifters. The food is overpriced and you are uncharacteristically rushed. Love the concept but hated the execution.
google avatar

Yelp
I like this establishment because it serves as much cup of coffee as you'd like. Very cozy interior atmosphere with vintage couches and loveseats strewn about

Yelp
My favorite cafe from my short visit to Vienna! This is a down-to-earth sort of place, with mismatched furniture and a casual, vintage style, and it comes together very beautifully. Vollpension states on their menu that they are an 'intergenerational' cafe. They have both old and young people working, and it shows. The cashier was a young fellow (spoke excellent English) and took my order efficiently. The woman behind the bakery counter as an old but spry grandmother (also excellent English) who advised me about the different cakes and pies available. The food and drink seem to be very good quality. The decor is awesome and hilarious. There's a lot of vintage elements, but also some hipster ones. Like, the ovens used by the grandmothers to make cakes have neon lighting of different colors! The patrons were a great cross-section of Viennese society. There were couples with young babies in strollers, small children, young students, as well as old men and women. Really awesome! Wifi password is on the menu that's on every table; you may need to hunt for it. Order at the counter.

Yelp
My friend and I came for dinner, ordered our food and at the counter, picked up our apricot cake and awaited our warm food. Food ordered: 1. Weibwurste: 5/5 - this came with 2 veal sausages (note that they are white and come in a broth), a pretzel and sweet mustard. I liked everything! The sausage was tougher to cut because of the sausage container/outside but it was delicious paired dipped or drank with the broth. 2. Apricot cake: 5/5 - this was a light vanilla cake with cooked apricots. The cake was fluffy and not dry, while the apricots were obviously fresh and sweet.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
Super kitschy, super popular brunch haven in Vienna. Be prepared to eat cake. Be prepared to see the cakes being baked right before your eyes in ovens on levers that come down from the ceiling to the counter to be set out and served to you by the women who make them. Yes, you feel like you're at grandma's, and she's invited the whole neighborhood to join the party.
google avatar

Hande J.

Yelp
Great concept and amazing value for the money. It is decorated like a living room of a grandma, thus instantly feels cozy :) Make sure to book your reservation ahead of time since this place is very popular. My friend and I tried one of the breakfast plates and it was tasty. I will definitely go back when I'm in Vienna next.
google avatar

Geekar L.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in here after dinner and my friend suggested it because she wanted to see what the deal was with all those grandmas baking up pies and cakes. Are they amazing? Nope. However, at the very least, it's an interesting spot and a nice place to spend some time during the day or after a meal. When we got in, the place was packed, a good mix of mostly locals? We were lucky to grab some seats right by the front nook. The decor is...different, hipster? Rustic? Either way, you won't uncomfortable here. It was a little chilly outside, so I wanted a hot chocolate. There was hot chocolate with rum on the menu, but sadly, they didn't have it. The hot chocolate itself was pretty good, milky and not overly sweet. Both of my friends got tea, which came in these ginormous mugs; it was just the right amount of tea according to them. We also ordered an apple and grape pie to share. It was a tad on the sweet side, but still good! We were there for a little bit, just to stay warm and toasty before walking back to our place. It was worth the 15 min. walk, check them out!

Yelp
A really cool cafe with great atmosphere and nice grandmas taking care of you ;)).... I like their comfy couches and the home-made cakes with their cappuccino....hmm...the perfect afternoon snack. Definitely try their breakfast assortments...loved the Opa Pikant!

Yelp
Went to Vollpension on a Saturday morning for brunch for 3. I reserved a table 2 days in advance and would highly recommend. Inside are comfortable chairs/couches and tables. It has a super cute homey vibe to it. They had english menus and were great at communicating in english as well. All three of us got the "Spicy Grandpa" which included a crusty roll and a slice of dark rye bread, butter, a muhammara like dip, cottage cheese, mountain cheese, fresh horseradish, pickles, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, a soft boiled egg, Viennese ham and pork salami. ⁣So so good and would highly recommend. This dish was €11.90. Also got a coffee for €3.6 ish. There were also cakes being baked FRESH by actualy geandmas in the kitchen! I cannot wait to (hopefully) go back!!
google avatar

Chantelle T.

Yelp
Super funky atmosphere, awful coffee. What a shame. It's like kitsch-hipster-boho-i don't know, but each seating area inside is like a mini loungeroom, each styled differently. Lots of space inside and ample outdoor seating too. I didn't try the cakes but they looked really appetising. But, I can't get over the coffee. It's really bad. Maybe that's how they think it's done, but no. Burnt, overly frothy and not at all smooth. Service was a bit slow and this isn't one of those cases where I'd be prepared to wait.

Yelp
The Vollpension has everything what my style and chill searching heart is longing for. This Café has it all: It's cosy, comfortable and elegant at the same time and it's located close to the famous Naschmarkt. The name "Vollpension" is a German term and means "all-inclusive". So here in this vintage-café embodying the perfect synthesis of a chillout oasis of Starbucks and the elegance of a traditional Viennese Coffee House you get all-in-one. The Vollpension is a self-service coffee house, with very friendly staff, offering a variety of Austrian coffees, sandwiches, lemonades, Austrian cakes and tartes (which Granny made for you) all for reasonable prices, accompanied by real great music playing in the background...so the playlist is mainly full of the evergreens of all decades, the all-time favorites, and at times simply excellent chillout-lounge music. All this comes into play here at the Vollpension making you feel that "Granny Loves You"-Feeling, as the slogan goes on the menu of the Vollpension: "Oma hat dich lieb!" (Granny Loves You!). They have delicious coffees with chives sandwiches as well as a yummy almond-cheese cake. The furniture is from the old times and you feel like God in France sitting in these antique chattels and on the shelves besides news of the day you get not only magazines from the old days but also discover real postcards from real people sent to other real people from the 50ies for instance. Even the restrooms it's all vintage here supported by magazines and accessories from the old times. The only thing is that tall people once they are sitting in one of these old chairs and sofas might not get out easily anymore since people back then were smaller in average as nowadays and so they constructed their furniture. Having said that sitting in these vintage chairs and couches together with this good relaxing music you easily get into the flow leading to these white moments hard to get into in our stressful big city lives. But be aware, Granny's Vollpension doesn't open on Mondays, though the opening hours are top-notch for a Viennese Coffee House lasting from Tuesday to Saturday until midnight and on Sundays till 20:00 (8 pm). And by the way Oma (Granny) is open to new things as well. So she supports free WiFi. With Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place when walking and the concept of the place is amazing. The cafe is run by both older and younger people, with those on pensions being still able to work. Spoke to an amazing lady who was born in Austria, lived in Australia and travelled extensively. She was so friendly and made the place seem even more welcoming than it already looked. I would advise others to reserve a table as the place is so popular that we couldn't even get a table!! The atmosphere is lovely and I would highly recommend this cafe to visit!
google avatar

Cici S.

Yelp
Cute and eclectic cafe restaurant with interesting decor inside and a small terrace outside. The concept is that there are literal grandmothers that make the pastries and desserts offered. The brunch menu, however, is rather limited and VERY expensive for what you get - some bread, slices of ham and cheese, a pat of butter and dab of some "fancy" hummus or whatnot. The desserts are pretty good - we had a coffee cake and apple strudel. However, I left feeling that it is overrated.
google avatar

Joaquin R.

Yelp
We stopped in randomly for breakfast. We loved it. Great Viennese breakfast. Cool atmosphere, they played American Mo-town music. Raspberry jam is everything.
google avatar

Alex T.

Yelp
Cakes are bad to mediocre. The grandmas are an exciting idea but the main problem is lack of quality control. Very few cakes are great, most are just bad. If you ask for cream, they give you very little. The space is pleasant enough. Really overrated -- a disappointment especially given how good the idea and other reviews are. The topfen cake was just a bland cheesecake. The pear cake was inedibly dry, as were the poppyseed (mohn) and kugelhopf. Only the rhubarb was ok. You're better off going to Gregor's or Jelinek.
google avatar

Mario D.

Yelp
The smell of fresh baked bread will draw you in, the delicious dessert made fresh literally in front of you will keep you coming back. Warmly and lovingly furnished, the dining area is a comfortable and relaxed as your grandmas kitchen. Served and prepared with love and care Villpension is worthy of Six stars!.

Emma R.

Yelp
Very sweet place! Great to sit inside or outside. I would recommend going there for breakfast or lunch, since first you have to pay a price and then you can order as much as you want. At least that was the case when I went there for coffee. Nice atmosphere and staff!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
This place is SO great! Love it's social mission and had delicious coffees and cakes. Staff are incredibly friendly and the decor was positively lovely, cozy and inviting. Would absolutely come here regularly if we were in town longer. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!! The cutest cake and coffee cafe in Vienna! The atmosphere is perfect for hanging out and catching up with friends. Such sweet workers! The goulash was delicious and the aroma of baking cakes was incredible! Don't miss this stop in Vienna!!
google avatar

Nataly K.

Yelp
It's a great place! I was impressed by the atmosphere and service. Amazing concept of the coffee house. I love the decorations!! I found a lot if things that I can see in my grandparents home. Great feeling! Cakes and pies are homemade just in front of you. Coffee is very good. Definitely I will come back here!

Yelp
A fun, eclectic, comfortable place to rest in old furniture while surrounded by a wide variety of framed pictures and nick-nacks. The baking was good. The waiters were energetic and interesting to talk to. And grandma was working her buns off :-)
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent breakfast on a beautiful Viennese morning. Great coffee and the cakes are a must try.

Yelp
I purposely dragged my family here based on reviews and made sure to check they were open on not only Sunday, but also Easter. Yay for both, as they advertise weekend brunch. It literally looks like grandma's house, furnished with attic tables and chairs. We played musical chairs with the ancient plush sofa and arm chairs. We agreed to be out in an hour because we didn't make a reservation. Their weekend breakfast choices were few but tasty. We ordered The Spicy Grandpa and Peters Breakfast. The shaved horseradish was divine and the bröt was perfectly crisp outside and soft inside. The table was a little cluttered with stuff, but perfectly homey. Every hour a grandma bakes a cake, so you can take your table number up and make a selection. Water is free and self-serve. My favorite! The only reason this is a 3star is because they only accept Cash, although every listing reads card accepted. There were many people who sat down while we were there who had to step out and find an atm. Glad I had my emergency cash. Also, I ordered the vegetarian meal and received the wrong meal (second time this happened in two days, ironically also a veg dish).

Yelp
The most charming cafe I've ever been to. The cakes are delicious, the coffee strong, and the atmosphere delightful. A must if you're in the area!

Roberto P.

Yelp
Went in for breakfast, ordered at 10:30 an the food came at 12! We were almost about to leave. I also asked like 3 times for our order and they only responded: "Yeah, its coming" 1 star.

Yelp
The cutest little café you'll find. All decorated with different old sets of furniture, they serve very good breakfast. The staff is very welcoming. Very nice and cozy place to relax when it's raining. Perfect!
google avatar

Yvonne N.

Yelp
The business doesn't seem to welcome lone travellers. Was here to wait for hotel check in to attend a conference. The waiter was repeatedly rude to me even when I was sitting in a corner and kept ordering food. Pretty bad service experience. The food was good. But I am very put off by the service.
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
You know you have been a bad boy or girl and have not visited Grandma (Oma) lately! Now you can make up for it by heading to see Oma who rules the kitchen at Vollpension in the Freihausviertel. This new establishment is as charming a café as you will ever enter. With its exposed brick walls and a sundry objets d'art that Oma has collected over the years alongside comfy love seats and plush arm chairs, there's something for everyone to admire here. The selection of food offerings can prob grow a bit ... and will .... but this place gets five stars for atmosphere alone. Hey, I don't want Grandma (Oma) to be mad at me!
google avatar

Sissy R.

Yelp
Came in for lunch for leaving Vienna. Went to order at 12:10, and was told the kitchen was closed... even though the menu clearly states the kitchen is open from 12-2 Mon-Fri... very odd.

Marc B.

Yelp
We arrived and were seated by the host, after what we were sitting there for 20 min, and nobody even came to give us a menu. To have a lot of seats is a responsibility. (Edit) So it's been now 45 min, that we are here and we still didn't get anything to eat.

David B.

Yelp
For those traveling, this is a great spot to get some work done on a laptop, especially in the downstairs area. Mixture of background music, notably Dolly Parton's Jolene!

Yelp
I am Vollpension's newest and biggest fan! What's not to like! From the shabby antique chic stylings to the "Grandma's" homemade menus to the pink tiles in the bathrooms that reminded my of my grandma's bathroom, this place is a hit. It is also located in one of the trendiest parts of the city near the TU and snuggled between a lot of great cafes and restaurants. We had to carry the stroller down steps in order to sit inside, but no big deal. he daily menu I tried was mushroom gulasch with knoedel. hmmmmmmm. Coffee and homemade cremeschnitte was great too. There is also a changing table in the large women's bathroom. Thank you!!

Is a very cute little place for coffee/quick bite. Is semi self service, but all the staff were super friendly. Food and coffee was just ok, but the ambiance was very cute, worth checking it out.

Yelp
Amazing cake. Amazing Viennese coffee. Cute grannies making your pastries for you. All the staff are welcoming. Awesome atmosphere, also good for families. The owner Paulo is also so helpful! Helped us plan our road trip out of Vienna. All around one of the best cafes I've ever been to and their rice pudding is to die for!
