A Cross-Country Car Excursion

"Few auto museums in the United States are as colorful or eclectic as the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois. Founded in 1960, the family-run museum began life as a small dealership selling a handful of unrestored cars. Sixty years later, it has grown into a 35-acre attraction with exhibits ranging from classic automobiles to iconic vehicles from TV shows and movies—and many of them are for sale. The Volo Auto Museum features 33 exhibits contained within five main buildings. As you’d expect, there are hundreds of classic autos, including early cars from the 1900s, the world’s most complete Duesenberg II collection, classic cars from the 1950s, and plenty of muscle cars. Vintage scooters, tractors, campers, and snowmobiles are also on show. But you don’t have to be an automobile aficionado to enjoy the Volo Auto Museum. Alongside the more traditional auto exhibits are an array of instantly recognizable vehicles from film and TV, as well as cars once owned by the rich and famous. Among these pop culture icons is one of the world’s largest collections of Batmobiles, which includes the original Batmobile from the 1966 TV series, the Michael Keaton Batmobile, and the tough-looking Tumbler from the Christopher Nolan movies. Other famous TV and movie vehicles on show at Volo—and there are too many to mention them all here—include the custom chopper from Ghost Rider; the Flintstones family car; the Harrier Jump Jet used in True Lies (and later in The Avengers); KITT from Night Rider; the DeLorean from Back to the Future; Luke Skywalker’s Land Speeder; the Interceptor from Mad Max 2; and Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters. They’ve even got the lifeboat from Captain Phillips. The celebrity car exhibit, meanwhile, includes vehicles once owned by various stars, normally with some kind of story behind them. There’s Britney Spears’ 2006 Mercedes-Benz, for example, which gained notoriety on the streets of L.A. (and on TMZ). Another interesting exhibit is the “Trump Edition” limousine, which was designed to be the world’s most luxurious limo. Two prototypes were built, but then the project was scrapped. Donald Trump bought both cars himself, one of which now sits in the museum. Other exhibits in the museum include military hardware, antique arcade machines, horse-drawn carriages, a carousel museum, and an antique jukebox collection. So if eclectic is what you like, it’s safe to say you’ll have a good time at the wide-ranging Volo Auto Museum." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

This place is so amazing. We bought 2 day golden pass with Volo Museum and Jurassic Garden tickets. The volo Museum is superb. It has almost all the cars/vehicles you see in the Hollywood movies. The Jurassic Garden had a nice experience of seeing Dinosaurs so up close. The bus ride was fun. Sit facing right to get better view. Can’t wait to visit next year to experience the NEW ICE AGE 2026 tour. The staff is very cooperative. The Army museum is great. I absolutely love the Antique store. I bought few jewelry pieces and my son bought old coins/currency from foreign countries. Definitely a place to visit with your family. Make sure you go on time to explore everything.

Google
I brought my 6-year old and she loved it! The Jurassic Park is so cool! Next time, I would plan to give ourselves more time because they close at 5:00 and we didn’t arrive until almost 3:30 because I thought it was much smaller than it is and didn’t realize there are many things to do.

Google
Volo Museum had so many vintage cars to see. Could these even get in a garage back in those days? Not too crowded on a late Monday morning. Really enjoyed it and the Titanic exhibit.

Jessica Neaves

Google
This was our second visit to the Volo Museum, and it was just as amazing as the first! We’re from out of town, but it’s definitely worth the trip. My son absolutely loved the dinosaurs, and there’s so much for the whole family to enjoy. Always a fun and memorable experience!

Google
The Volo Museum in Volo, Illinois is a great family attraction with so much to see. Jurassic Gardens is a favorite, filled with realistic dinosaurs that look straight out of Jurassic Park, and the live reptiles were a big hit with the kids. There’s also a Titanic exhibit, along with classic movie props and other unique displays. It’s a fun and educational place where families can spend hours exploring and enjoying something for everyone.

Google
A pretty neat place if you're into old cars, which most are for sale. The museum is spread out over 5 buildings, with several other buildings with other collectibles. However, it is a pretty penny to get in. With a discount, it cost my wife and I $50. At that cost, it's a once in a lifetime experience for me.

Bill Llib

Google
This place is incredible. Buildings full of amazing classic cars, plus vintage campers, motorcycles, scooters, and autos that appeared in movies, as well as one of a kind, and concept vehicles. And if that's not enough, it's enveloped in a multi-faceted theme park. I highly recommend!

Google
Very cool place with a great car collection. Does seem to favor one brand over all the others, but so worth it to see the collection. Lots of items from all different eras. Museum pieces were very nicely restored or refurbished if you will. The antique mall are was massive and lotta to see. Plan on spending the better half of a day here to take it all in.

Yelp
Really great museum with a massive antique mall attached. If you love cars and American history, this is definitely a place for you. There are 5 buildings full of cars and, as a bonus, they have exhibits of old snowmobiles, motorcycles, tractors, train cars, and even RVs. I have to preface it and say their navigation is so well thought out unlike many other outdoor museums. You can't get lost here - the arrows are literally painted on the ground, everywhere. As you go through the museum, you can see old canestoga wagons, traveler's cabins, and... even jukeboxes. But the most impressive and memorable part is all the classic cars restored to perfection and their cinematic car collection. Batman, Back to the Future, Mad Max, Miami Vice, Knight Rider, Terminator 3, Fast and Furious, Gone in 60 seconds, Ghostbusters, Star Wars, James Bond, Ford vs Ferrari cars... I don't think I've seen so many movie cars even in LA at the Petersen Automotive Museum! A cherry on top is celebrity car collection like Britney Spears's Mercedes CLK, Princess Diana's Rolls Royce, or Elvis Presley's Cadillac. Pretty impressive! If you're an adult, you probably don't need Jurassic park pass, but get your Titanic add on. Really interesting stories and exhibit. Lastly, there's a big antique mall in the end. Like 3 buildings worth of stuff from the last century. From household items, to clothes, to gaming consoles. I think I spent 2 hours wondering around the mall out of 4.5 hours total at the museum. All in all, a fantastic museum and worth a visit and drive 1 hr north of Chicago. Highly recommend!

Yelp
If you are in the area, this is an attraction worth visiting at least once. Large variety to see here. Definitely a lot of cars, but also tons of vintage things to see. A whole display of vintage Disney items, and even an old, Disney Molderama machine that actually works. The real highlight of our visit was all the vintage rides. Our toddler had a blast riding those. Each ride actually lasts a while too, gives your kids a good value for the token. Everyone we interacted with was very kind and friendly which is the most important thing. Our toddler had a nice time!

Yelp
The breadthe of things here is breathy! Lots of stuff! Too much, so much so I found an old airplane machine pop a quarter I rode as a kid at Chucky Cheese/Showbiz Pizza that still worked and the kids were jumping in it flying around! F ING AMAZING! Carousel, cool pipe organs, train cars, there's just SO MUCH to discover here it's neverending like a story. Go here and have fun, and they have a lil bake shop that's okay but presentation is off the chain! Cool cars of course it's their real thing as famous Youtubers about cars the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Speed Racer custom cars were the coolest, but I'd like to buy the Munsters carriage and Dragula to ride around in in style.
google avatar

Marq L.

Yelp
Not really a museum, more like a resto-mod showroom. All the cars were restored some rotisserie restorations, others frame up restorations, and all for sale. A lot of the models I haven't seen since high school. Mostly Mopars as well as some original TV/Movie cars. The place had some other interesting collections, tractors, jukeboxes, and other period pieces.
google avatar

Yelp
I visited Volo Auto Museum for the first time Saturday and WOW was I impressed. Volo Auto Museum is a pretty massive museum that has a ton of cars that were used in famous movies and TV Shows and a ton of other older throwback memorabilia from various points in American history. It's so awesome that a place like this exists to preserve these items - you will certainly recognize a ton of cars if you like movies. There is also a showroom of nice, expensive cars for sale as well (but not the movie cars). They also have an actual carousel and a dinosaur area for kids with mini golf, and a titanic exhibit. Right outside of the museum is an old antique shop as well which is massive. You can realistically spend about 2-3 hours here to see mostly everything in full. It's definitely worth a visit and is a lot of fun - highly recommended.
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
Was a fun time with kids but they were not in to auto so that part went fast lol. We would have taken longer. The kids did like all theatre and Dino's and neat things to see the playground was a hit also lol.

Yelp
As a long time car/truck wannabe collector and automotive junkie, I love car museums. I've seen the car collections in Deer Lodge, MT, Tacoma, WA, and Murdo, SD, but hands down the Volo Car Museum is definitely the best of the ones I have seen. Allow yourself plenty of time because there is a LOT to see!
google avatar

Marie N.

Yelp
I've lived in the Chicago area for 40 years and never had the inclination to attend the Volo Car Museum. I'm just not a car person! However, today was a beautiful day out and I wanted to go for one specific purpose: to see the car that Johnny Depp drove in the film "The Fugitive". The museum and all of its offerings blew me away. It is not just buildings filled with fancy cars. There are high quality museum exhibits depicting everything from films to exhibits honoring the military from WWI through the U.S.'s current involvement in Eastern Europe. The museum's grounds are very clean. Parking is free. Admission fees are reasonable. This is a place for all ages.

Yelp
The DH had been asking about/whining/begging to go to the Volo since he first learned about it. I finally had the chance to make his desire a reality. We're about an hour and a half away, so this was a nice little day trip. It's hard to believe how big this place is until you start walking around. 5 warehouses of classic cars and movie cars, a Titanic exhibit hall, Crime and Punishment museum, antique trains, RVs, snowmobiles, and bikes each have their own smaller warehouses. And while we didn't visit it ourselves, there's also a dinosaur park called Jurassic Gardens. In addition to the paid exhibits, there is also a huge antiques mall which covers an additional 4 buildings. We spent a solid 4 hours wandering around and reading descriptions and watching video clips. DH is already talking about going back with his brother and nephew. He also has a group of friends wanting to go.

J P.

Yelp
We went today to see the Ghostbuster's exhibit and what a crazy let down. The actors sat in their chairs and didn't move and they walked around and did nothing. They don't even pull the car out! They made a lot of money and under delivered. We wasted our money!! I'm sorry for those who paid to expect this, my son.
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
There is literally something for everyone here and we only did the main museum- which is several buildings and showrooms. You'll see vehicles used in movies and shows. Vehicles made for parades. Used vehicles in the showrooms that are actually for sale. You'll see many collections that aren't really related to cars but are definitely related to nostalgia. Definitely recommend if you or a loved one loves cars but also if you're just looking for something different to do

Yelp
Heard a lot about this museum, so we had to come here. It sounded better than it was is a nice way of putting it. The Volo Museum is what this town is known for, better or worse. Best part is maybe not having to take a long time to look around. This certainly isn't worth the money though. Crap ton of old cars are the main exhibits. It has tons of these from ordinary to those in movies. There's some of these even worth looking at and paying the high admission price. Most of these look like old junk. There's lots of overpriced classic old ones. Who appraises these? A lot of them are actually just replicas. They pass these off as classics though. Had a "1957 Bel Air." The fine print said it was recently built from scratch. Has famous customers who have no problem shelling out for overpriced cars. There's a few highlights along the many vehicles. A few pretty familiar ones to people who watch movies. Yes they have the Griswolds' station wagon from National Lampoon's Vacation. Beyond that, it's pretty boring. Too high of a price. It's about $25 for adults. Then add more to see the Jurassic Gardens, and even more to see the Titanic exhibit. Basic exhibit with a few artifacts. This is like a single room, and it's just way to get money. Got to visit it at least once and see what they have. It's basically like a used car garage and lot. There's a few other events like going around on a train or whatever.
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
I took my 8 yr old nephew here since he is a car freak! Oh it was so cool I even got into it! They had tons of movie cars (my personal favorites) my nephew loved all the interactive displays and that day they even had a reptile show free for all quests of the museum. I loved how they had so much for the littles to do. Seriously something for everyone. It was so much fun my husband and I booked the paranormal trolly ride for the end of the month!
google avatar

Amy F.

Yelp
We love cars so we loved the Volo Museum. Huge variety of fun rides from those in movies to classic muscle cars for sale. That being said, we will never return because of the neighbouring Village of Lakemoor's lucrative red light cameras. Beware if you drive to Volo. We never saw a sign, but the cameras are at Rte 120 & US 12 monitoring NB, WB, & EB--all on the way to and from the museum. This ruined our one and only trip to Volo. Word to the wise.

Amy I.

Yelp
This place is an overpriced tourist trap. We used half off museum passes from our library and still paid 60.00! That didn't even include the Jurassic park. We saw the cars and the Titanic museum. To watch some of the movies or do "extra" things they charge you tokens. There are some interesting and cool cars to see but the cost is outrageous!
google avatar

Bruce K.

Yelp
It's a showroom. It's a museum. It's both! Yes, many if not most of the vehicles on display here have prices on them. Whether you're looking for a 1957 Chevy Bel Air or a 1968 Pontiac Parisienne, they have clearly displayed prices. That's pretty awesome. And there are quite a lot of other vehicles that aren't for sale. The hearse that was used in the Terminator movie. One of the Back to the Future Deloreans. The racecar from Ford vs Ferrari. The Flintstonemobile (that you can actually sit in and get a picture!). A General Lee signed by the Dukes of Hazard cast. A Batmobile signed by Adam West. Yes, this is legit stuff. It's almost overwhelming. I will tell you, you need to get here early. Expect to spend at least three hours peacefully walking through the galleries. It's one of the largest car museums (see https://www.yelp.com/collection/0cY-NQxr4PY3Wntj3uA-xw) I have visited and I had a grand time. [Review 20640 overall - 187 in Illinois - 1621 of 2023.]

Yelp
Enjoyed all there is to see! Sooooo much to see and do!!! Really enjoyed my time there. 4 hours and didn't see half of it!
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
Every time I go to the museum I have a great time. I love going for the cars as I'm a big car enthusiast and you always have a great selection. Staff is always amazing they remember me as I go a lot and are so great. Highly recommend. They have something for everyone.
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
First things first- It's a big Auto showroom. Everything has a price on it. There are sales offices galore. Some of the "specimens" are of questionable provenance. It's a bunch of small buildings very crowded with cars. If you're not into cars, there ain't much for you to look at. There's a big snack shop/souvenir stand you go through on the way in, and on the way out. Of course. As far as the assortment, it's a bit puzzling. There are a bunch of really cool cars/vehicles that's for sure; and there are a bunch of "why is THIS thing in a museum?" I'd recommend to go on an "off" day, 'cos I'd hate to see this place when it is crowded. Is it worth it? Sure, if you're into cars. You'll see some things you ain't seen in a long time. You'll also have to endure some stuff you probably won't give the slightest interest to. I'm glad I went, but I'll not be in a hurry to return.
google avatar

Carm A.

Yelp
Volo museum is beyond amazing. 5 buildings full of cars! It is a bit confusing getting out of here if you just purchase the car tickets. BUT it's fun. I need to come back, you really need the full day to see everything. The pizza joint is yummy btw! Anyways highly recommend this place. Loved everything!! Especially if you're a car enthusiast.
google avatar

Heather B.

Yelp
4 stars. Has more for younger kids. Easy to find, a little bit of a maze to find the entrance but once inside it's easy to follow: a lot of old cars and cool movie vehicles.

Shannon T.

Yelp
Everything went smooth even on a busy day. The most amazing, random museum I've been too. My two young kids enjoyed it as well.
google avatar

Sheila C.

Yelp
Interesting place. Wonderful for kids, as long as you can keep them from touching all the amazing items there are to look at. We visited the the "museum" only, not Jurassic park, so I can not speak to it or the "package" of doing both. Volo Museum 1 Day Pass Adult - $22.95 Children 5 to 12 - $12.95 Seniors 65 and older - $20.95 Military - $20.95 4 & Under - Free For me, I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of "stuff" in just the museum. I had anticipated only cars, which we did see both "sales" (see other review) and display items, but there are all sorts of other things to look at and read about. Sadly the path is not chronically by any stretch of the imagination. Meaning you go through cars, antique jukeboxes, boat motors, steam engines, covered wagons in no particular order. Very odd sequencing but worth the cost of admission and time.

Catie G.

Yelp
This place is fun. Great for people of all ages. If you Che k out Lesser Known Adventures on YouTube you can get a look inside why this place is so cool. You get exercise from walking and a look at history. Just a cool collection of things.
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
The museum was pretty massive. There are different kinds of tickets. We did the combo with the Volo museum and Jurassic gardens for $35. The Volo museum by itself has a lot to see so you can easily spend a few hours with that. You will see many classic cars as well as cars from movies. Jurassic gardens is a lot smaller and kids will enjoy that. We spent like 15-20 mins in there. It's worth checking out.

Tom A.

Yelp
To the owner of Volo Classic Cars. This is a response to your response to me after my review. I know that your business does not restore cars. I know these cars are sold in as is condition. I know these cars are 50 years old and you guys can't guarantee them. I have towed many cars to many states. I never had a tire sidewall fail on me. The transporter used a bridal type hold down that evenly distributes pressure over the tire. Yes I had 2 tires that were produced in the year of 2024 and 2 tires that were produced in 2001 with o-zone cracks on the sidewalls. The 2024 tire is the one that failed. If you guys are doing PDI's on these vehicles. I don't know how these old tires passed. Now the fuel leak you told me that you guys replaced the sending unit. I'm guessing you had to replace the gasket that comes with the sending unit. You can replace the sending unit without dropping the tank. You can replace the sending unit with less than a half of tank of fuel. This looks like how this was done. Why wasn't fuel added to the tank to check for leaks? It is leaking at the gasket you guys replaced. How was this allowed to leave the shop without testing? I know you cannot ship with a full tank. The fuel could have been siphoned out before transport. So I was very lucky after I filled up that no fire occurred during the drive after. It literally poured out. We are still looking into the suspension problem.Maybe you guys should stop telling people about your safety inspections unless you guys could be clear what that inspection entails. So about your inner communication problems. I am not the only one who has complained about this. I am sure you have read the reviews of people not so happy with your company communication skills. For example today I received an email from your sales manager. He told me he wasn't aware of any problems. I guess he was told to just reach out to me? When did I leave my last review? This just makes my point. Back to the tire I don't know how you guys did not see the suspension problem. Since you guys had to jack up the car to replace that driver side front tire. Maybe there was damage done when you guys jacked up the car to change the tire? I don't know still looking in to it. I will let you know when I know further. Thanks..!!

Yelp
Dinosaurs and cars! A little boys (girls too, but I'm a mom of 4 boys)... dream museum! I gave it 4 stars because there are some broken seating areas and litter. We arrived at opening, so, at the very least, the litter should have been cleaned and the chairs should have been taped around. Very cool playground! Nice sales floor. Loved the Disney room.

Yelp
My love and I had the opportunity to visit the Volo Auto Museum as we were camping at a nearby site last September. The town of Volo is quite a distance from the big city, but the campground was conveniently located a quick drive to this sprawling campus of cars. You can easily spend a couple of hours checking out all of the cool vintage cars, specialty vehicles (campers, snowmobiles, boats, etc.), and displays of celebrity items and old-time memorabilia (pinball machines!). The admission is $20 a head ($13 for kids) but it's a fun visit for young and medium and old. The vehicles will bring back old memories and create new ones for you. I must have taken over a hundred photos during our visit. Not sure if I have a fave, but I did enjoy seeing a bunch of classic Corvettes, a few versions of the Batmobile, and wheels from movies like Back to the Future, Blues Brothers and Ghostbusters. If you really have a favorite and have the cash to burn, then some of the cars are available for purchase.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
It's awesome place for kids. We have been there like 20 times in Dino park with my 3 years old. It is small, but really cool. And if you into cars, there is a huge collection of old cool cars.

Paul C.

Yelp
I purchased a 1966 Chevelle from Volo, it was advertised as a Body off Frame RESTORATION. The car wouldn't start when it was trying to be driven off the trailer, once fired up and off of the trailer I got in the passenger seat and told the delivery guy to go ahead and drive it around the block to see if it just needed to be warmed up. It kept shutting off till we got back to the house so I told him to go ahead and just pull it directly into the garage. When we got out, I noticed that the trunk lock was missing. I got in my other car and drove around the block and found the trunk lock laying in the road, so I got out, picked it up and drove back to my house. The delivery guy was about packed up and then shortly after he drove off. There was NO paperwork with the car that was supposed to be delivered with it. I started checking to see why the car wouldn't run... Vacuum advance hose disconnected from the distributor. I reconnected it to the distributor and then disconnected the other end of the hose and reconnected it to its PROPER port on the Carb. I then noticed that the PCV hose from the valve cover was not connected to its proper location either so I reconnected it. I now tried and the car fired up and ran. The engine that was said to be rebuild isn't properly cammed for the engine. Inside the car (4 speed car) I noticed WTF there's no parking brake pedal and release assembly. I got out and looked under the car and there are NO parking brake cables except for the cables hanging out from the rear brake drums. I drove the vehicle around the block a couple of times to warm it up and then back to the garage. I now checked and found that the heater didn't work, under the hood I saw the heater hose was kinked and not allowing coolant to flow but upon feeling the other hoses with my hands i found that the thermostat was not opening either. I decided to check the car over a bit more. Grey non-GM seatbelts for the front seats and they were improperly mounted to the seat mount rails. I then noticed that the driver's side seat was mounted on passenger side seat rails which places the seat adjuster between the seat and the shifter console. The shifter boot is torn in half. The heater controls are not functional and the blower doesn't work. There is body damage on both doors because of misalignment of both fenders and doors. There was spot paint on the lower corners of both doors, to cover up the body damage. Rust is on both doors where the cracks in the doors and the cracked paint is peeling off. Dry rotted body to frame mounts and door weather stripping. I find it personally difficult to properly adjust a fender that's NOT even bolted to the frame... (see the video) and yes, I have many, many pictures of all the BS that's wrong with this restored car... And the appraisal that people are charged for when purchasing a car from Volo is nothing more than an inhouse, Volo created checklist that's complete BS when it comes to a proper appraisal, it's filled out by none other than Jay Grams... I bought this car so that I could have fun driving a completed car without having to do a load of work on it in order to drive it, it's STILL in the garage until it can be safely driven which might be after I replace the broken exhaust manifold!!!!! All of this can be yours too for only $63K, which is what I paid for this train wreck.

Yelp
Go to the Grams Family Volo Auto Museum where you will spend the greater part of the day wandering aimlessly and drooling of all the cars from yesteryear and modern muscle as well.
google avatar

Brandy H.

Yelp
This is a fun family experience for all ages. I'm not a 'car guy' but always enjoy new things every time we come here. They are always changing displays, getting new cars, selling others, and you just can't do all of the experiences in one day. One of our fav displays is the series of RVs. The Titanic exhibit was fairly small, with interesting displays and very tactfully done. Nicely clean for the large grounds and various types of buildings. We got lucky that it wasn't crowded today, but the property is so big, I don't remember the crowds ever slowing us down. I was looking forward to eating lunch there to see all the decor in the general store / cafe, but was disappointed in the food which is why this is only a four star review. It was insanely overpriced dried out pizza and hot dogs - all carbs and unhealthy fats - the only healthy option was the bottled water. You would think for the amount of time people spend on property, they could offer some healthy options. We will pack a lunch next time - poor food offerings will not keep us away! Two tips, understand that the general store cafe is basically a hub for getting from one building or display to another, and, if you want to play mini golf - Platinum doesn't get you a ball and club - you still have to pay extra!! Have fun!

Yelp
Date of visit: 11/7/21 A visit to Volo Auto Museum was a gift from a friend and it was definitely an interesting place to see. Really calling it an "auto museum" doesn't quite do it justice as there is a fair amount more, from tractors and motorhomes, to models of classic Disney movies and riding attractions like you used to see outside of the grocery store. Even those with just a passing interest in cars will find something of interest to them here, with the large selection of classic cars to restored vehicles featured in television shows and movies including "The Munsters," "Gone in 60 Seconds," "Terminator 3," and "The Dukes of Hazzard." Also sprinkled in are random exhibits, such as military history and Crime and Punishment. These are where I am less enamored with Volo. These exhibits are random and not well-kept; the military exhibit had a ridiculous amount of cobwebs and spider webs (and Halloween is over, so that's not an excuse, ha ha). Some of the buildings also had bad smells to them. Yet those are relatively small complaints for such a massive place that really takes a good 2.5 - 3 hours to fully explore.

Yelp
Tram tour for Halloween is not scary. It is history and looking at blow up figures. They need to add elements of suspense or fear.

Yelp
Hi there Volo museum and car sales. I l9ve all your cars for sale and really enjoy "going for a spin" with Jay , Michael with "let's see what's she's got" and recently Shelby filling in for Jay. My nieces name is Shelby too. Great job from everyone doing a fantastic job. Thanks again from Canada and all the gearheads up here. Steve.

Yelp
A little pricey 19.95 per person to look at cars they are going to have for sale. sorta paying to buy a car. Car prices were a tad higher and did not buy anything. if you have kids you have to buy tokens to play the machines so admission plus plus plus. They did have many many unique things all over the place one of a kind vehicles and campers it was a museum after we kept going we felt it was worth it after all. huge anitque store so dont wear yourself down before going to that alot of nice things but compare it to ebay we found prices lower and higher than ebay. one thing missing was FOOD the area is missing out on a bbq joint or something. alot of stuff under construction or stuff in storage they just have too many things to get out in the public.

Yelp
This review is strictly for the Jurassic Gardens area and not Volo Museum as a whole. For the price alone it was not worth it. It is 15.95 a person, kids under 5 are free. It's a small area that can done in 15 mins. I wish it was bigger because it is a cool concept. They could've installed an indoor playground or more fossil and artifact areas just so the kids could be preoccupied a little longer and make the price worth it. The dinosaurs were realistic and my sons enjoyed them. There is also a small arcade inside and a gift shop. It would be best to do Volo and Jurassic Gardens together Vs. Jurassic Gardens by itself.

Yelp
I heard about this place while listening to talk radio, WRMN 1410AM, the radio hosts have been saying many positive things about this auto museum so I decided to take a ride up there with my nephew. It's a 38 minute trip from northwest side of Chicago but we'll worth it. Plenty of parking, wheelchair accessible and they rent out motorized scooters for the handicapped but I brought my own. The place is huge, with numerous showrooms of beautiful cars. Photography and video of the cars is allowed. I especially liked the cars from tv shows and movies such as "Ghostbusters", "Vacation", "The Blues Brothers", "Knight Rider" "Beverly Hillbillies", "Back to the Future", "Star Wars", "Terminator 3", "Die Another Day", "Fast and Furious" and "The Munsters". An outstanding collection of cars for a film buff like myself. There are also many other vintage cars and trucks, many are for sale. There is also a military section. Many historical items make this place a wealth of information, especially for the younger generations, I saw quite a few families visiting here today. Highly recommended, Five stars.

Yelp
This museum was amazing. I hadn't done any research before visiting and wasn't expecting much but was honestly a bit blown away. Vintage cars, movie Cars, trains, stage coach, planes, campers, scooters, carousel, tractors, etc. Had a blast, wish I would have allotted more time.

Yelp
The following review is based on experiences before the COVID-19 pandemic: Definitely worth a visit if you live anywhere in Northern Illinois. I'm not a huge car fan, but this museum is very unique with a huge selection of cars and other exhibits which include collectables. For the quality of exhibits, the admission is very reasonable, considering that you'll also get plenty of amazing photo opportunities. Make sure that you budget at least three hours minimum as you'll need time to fully explore all the exhibits including the very well designed military museum (and Jurassic Garden coming in 2021!). Overall, very well maintained and a great way to spend a day. Even if you don't have a big interest in cars, there are plenty of antiques, music machines, animatronic, Disney displays, movie exhibits, Warner brothers displays, arcade items, carousels, boats, bicycles, planes, and other things to see! Take a visit, you definitely will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We are members of Volo auto museum and when I tried taking my 5 and 3 year old to see ONLY the dinosaurs they wouldn't let us in at 4:08. Unknowingly to me they don't let you in past 4 and they stick to it. Unfortunately now I have 2 very sad little boys. Not sure if we'll be renewing our membership after that.

Yelp
This is only for the classic car section. We did not view the jurassic garden or titanic exhibit. Good for kids but as an adult I would skip this museum. $25 per adult is a terrible value. The antique store was free to view.

Yelp
Can't go wrong at the Volo car museum. So many cars to look at and anything that has to do with transportation. Maybe they have 20+ building with a maze of memorabilia.

Mike L.

Yelp
Our son wanted to see some animatronic dinosaurs and the Volo Museum delivered. We each bought a platinum pass and enjoyed a full day of dinosaurs, and cars. We went in and out of the exhibits throughout the day and every staff member we ran into was courteous, kind and helpful. We had a great time!

Yelp
Wow I have driven past this place for 20 years and never turned off IL 120 to see what it's all about. I thought that it would make a nice little short day trip to check it out and have lunch in the area and I'm so glad I did. This is a big green tree filled property with multiple buildings and displays inside and out so bring your comfy shoes. Plenty of outdoor seating areas if you want to bring a cooler and have a picnic with the family. The place has a pizzeria/restaurant/snack shop to fill up at while visiting the museum so you don't have to leave the property. First off the place is way more than a car museum with autos, bikes, motorcycles, trains, tractors, rvs, campers, western, race cars, scooters, gas pumps, jukeboxes, soda machines, planes, helicopter, military vehicles, construction equipment, robot, movie props, 2 small theaters, boats, boat motors, snow machines, displays etc etc. Its like house on the rock but with everything that moves from all eras. This place is very smart because most of the cars are for sale that you see, why not fill the museum with them while they wait to sell and charge admission to see them. Lots of famous movie vehicles to see, real or not they are still cool to see up close. The small military museum is very cool with the war/shooting sounds to add another level to the static displays. This was truly an unexpected better than great time because it's way more than autos and a great family fun place to visit.

Yelp
It had been many years since the last time I visited the Volo Auto Museum. They now offer children exhibits, an entire building dedicated to Dinosaurs, and a building with a merry go round and music organs. They featuring military exhibit. Vintage cars, boats and tractors. There are also many buildings offering antiques for sale. There is a museum dedicated to vintage cars and exotic movie/tv cars. If you are interested in purchasing a car of you dreams, there are many for sale.
