I'm from NYC, and I gotta say, Volturno is easily one of the best meals I've had in Worcester. Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to hit this hard. The vibe is super chill despite the place being pretty massive, and once it filled up, the energy kicked up without ever tipping into chaos. Everyone who helped my boy and me was genuinely welcoming, you could tell they knew we weren't locals, but they made us feel right at home.
We started off with their burrata, and wow--silky, creamy, and paired with just the right accompaniments to make every bite sing. That alone could've been the highlight of the night... but then the pizzas showed up.
We grabbed a couple of well-crafted beers and ordered the fichi and margherita pies. Both were perfection: fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and a flawless balance between crust, sauce, and toppings. None of that greasy heaviness that makes you regret life choices after. Instead, I left full but still feeling great, which says a lot for a carb-heavy night.
The space strikes a sweet balance of laid-back enough to relax, but polished enough that it feels like a proper night out. Volturno clearly takes their craft seriously. Their pizzas are *googles* *clears throat* "APN-certified and baked in a handmade, 100% wood-fired clay oven built in Italy by Gianni Acunto, blasting at around 900°F so they cook in just
60-90 seconds, giving you that perfect airy crust with a whisper of char."
Special shout-out to the bartender--she's a master of her craft. The cocktails aren't just there to fill a menu; they're thoughtful, creative, and executed perfectly, elevating the whole dining experience.
One thing to keep in mind: they don't take reservations, so if you're rolling in during peak hours, expect a short wait. But with the great music, friendly service, and food that'll have you thinking about it the next day, it's absolutely worth it.
Happy Eating.
