"Volumes Bookcafe, co-founded by Rebecca and Kimberly George in 2016, is a community-centric space located in Wicker Park. It provides a unique combination of coffee, tea, books, wine, and whiskey, aimed at offering a detachment from reality. The venue, initially opened with a cafe, had to close its cafe during the pandemic and let its liquor license expire. The Georges moved the bookstore to a new location at 1373 N. Milwaukee Avenue, purchasing the space as it was more economically viable than renting. They plan to reinstate the liquor license to continue offering drinks." - aimee.levitt

I usually do not like to tell people about my favorite hidden spots to relax in the City...but I do like to support Independent Book Stores! Volumes is a treasure! It has a great selection of books, and an adorable cafe. It's a peaceful, comfy retreat from the hustle and bustle of Wicker Park. Don't forget to leave with a book or a postcard from a great local Photographer!

What a fun find! Coffee is quite good and I appreciated the eclectic selection of books they had on display. I will say that some of the sections seemed better curated than others, so unfortunately I’m leaving 4 stars instead of 5 since this place doesn’t quite land on the top echelon of book stores I’ve been to. Still it’s quite nice and more interesting than the average cafe, so you should definitely check it out. Recommended!

Super cozy Cafe and bookstore, the main entrance is shared with the store next door and could be missed if you aren't looking. Inside the Cafe is to the left, fairly standard menu with a few special drinks. There are board games and a few tables. Only complaint would be that at the time we were there they were out of some staples. Book side has a cozy corner for kids in the back and one in front by Milwaukee. Selection was decent and there's definitely a few things I may come back for in the future. Worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood!

I love this shop! Great coffee and a fantastic selection of new books. I order there all the time and the books arrive so fast. The owners are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, go in just to say hi

Discovered this recently and it was such a lovely spot to crank out some work! I not only had a tasty pastry, but I was also able to browse the books there. It was calm & peaceful, and the people working there were very kind.

Great selection of books in a nice airy environment. There's also a little café area which is perfect to get a drink and a bite to eat at too.

A cozy bookstore with a little cafe! The cafe is pretty limited but there’s nice seating to work or read and a good selection of books. They have both new and used books and the used books are really a bargain! I would definitely recommend stopping in.

My new favorite bookstore. A very nice variety of books, friendly and helpful staff, and you do not have the crazy expensive pricing of most indie bookstores! I was pleasantly shockingly surprised at the fair price point for the books! Can’t wait to return! This store will be my go to! They have a rewards program, and partnered with one of the food/beverage vendors in the building to provide a little discount! Sweet children’s area, too!
