Triple Voodoo Brewery & Tap Room Review - Dogpatch - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Triple Voodoo is a small brewery and taproom that puts out a bunch of interesting beers. This is the place to come if you want to try a lot of things, but don’t want to end up drinking in a building large enough to host a New Year’s Eve ball. Grab a few seats at the bar if you want the person behind the counter to talk you through what you’re ordering, and get to it. Try an Imperial Mocha Shake made with coffee and chocolate nibs or the Anxiety pilsner." - Will Kamensky

I always feel at home here! They have trivia nights every Tuesday. They have board games, you could even bring your own board games or DND group! They do fundraisers, live music, and so many other events! Follow their Facebook to get updates and reach out to them if you want to collaborate! They’re always looking to support the community and local artists. I recommend a Voodoo Island to start if you can’t make up your mind on a drink. Even if you don’t drink, the food is so good. Pizza, mac and cheese, fried pickles, pretzels, and more! 10/10 ✨

We love going here for brunch! The food is delicious- we have enjoyed everything we have tried. We highly recommend the breakfast burger as well as the smokehouse mac. You can’t go wrong with the food here! The beer selection is also great. I love how they also have a variety of sours, ciders, and seltzers on tap. There is truly something for everyone!

Very cool spot!! I love the painted doors hanging from the ceiling - a throwback to one of their original locations in Homestead. This place has a huge selection of great beer, and the food was awesome! Highly recommend the fried chicken sandwich. SO good.

Sheriden welcomed me with great customer service. Very knowledgeable! I just moved to the area and will be returning! Thank you for the recommendations! Absolutely will be recommending to my friends.

Just had a fantastic experience at VooDoo Brewery in Houston, PA. The drink list is fantastic with 24 beers on tap, amazing cocktails (I had a margarita with ginger beer and tumeric) and amazing food. The wings were crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle. The mussels were thick and plump and the sauce was incredible! But the icing on the cake is how family friendly they are. They had games we could borrow for the table and they even had books that they said Roman could take one home (which we will bring one to donate next time). They are focused on relaxed atmosphere with a focus on community and it really shows. They use their own beer in so many of their own dishes. They even take their spent barley or hops or something and send it to Mancini and Mancini bakes it in their breads! Everything has been thought of down to the finest detail. It’s so much fun and I highly recommend it and we will 100% be going back soon!! Only suggestions: 1. The kids meal was *way* overpriced at $10 for a small bowl of Mac and cheese 2. I would have loved it if the bread that came with my mussels was toasted instead of just coming right out of the bag. 3. Mussels need a white wine sauce option. The sauces are not very good. Other than that - completely amazing!!!

Google
Great beer, good vibes and decent food!! Wasn't a big fan of the pizza but the beer mussels and the truffle fries were outstanding!! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful on recommending what beers to try.

Nice place to hang out and catch up with friends. The beer is good. I like the sours they have. Decent food menu to boot.

Had a blast at the Grand Opening!! Love the cool space, the beer selection, and the food!! We are excited to go back and try more!! Loved both stouts and the Hefeweizen! Food was really good!! Get the beer cheese! Yum!! Madison and Jimmy were awesome and super helpful!!

Yelp
The food is overpriced and IMHO, totally unremarkable. The one thing I could say I reliably enjoyed, their mussels, are no longer on the menu. Had the 'famous red pepper hummus w/ PILES of veggies' Terrible! The plate had a little plastic condiment cup of 'hummus'- which still had whole garbanzo beans in it- was choking dry, and had no tahini- with no middle eastern flavor. Came with maybe 6 small triangles of pita, slices of pepper, celery, and maybe 10 of the tiniest carrots. They should be ashamed to charge the $11+!! (Also tasted the pizza - again, worth no stars) If you go for the beer- fine, ( thus the 2stars) but remember to eat before you go!!

Yelp
One of my favorite breweries in the entire Pittsburgh metro area. I've been here many times and each and every time I fall in love with it a little bit more. Their beers are superb and especially the Lacto-Kooler. We had some of their fried pickles for the first time on my recent trip and brooo you cannot go wrong with them. Yum! Their staff is always friendly and welcoming and the entire vibe of this place is top shelf. Make sure to check them out asap!!!

Yelp
Last night I needed a drink after work and this was the first place I thought of. We sat right at the bar which was perfect for us. I tried their red lacto kooler which was very good. As an app we got the pub pretzel, loved the size and absolutely loved their beer cheese. For a main I got the smokehouse mac which was everything I've ever wanted and more. Loved the amount of crispy onions they put on top and the bbq sauce they used worked so well. I cleaned that plate. My boyfriend got their 3 little pigs pizza, he devoured that and he said he really liked it. Wasn't a busy night for them but that was fine for us as we were able to chat up the bartender who was very nice and super helpful. He was great! As always I love their decor so fun.

Yelp
I was visiting the area this past weekend for a music festival, and my friends and I decided to visit a brewery beforehand. I was happy to see Voodoo had a location in Houston, which was just 10 minutes away from my hotel. We were the first to arrive on Sunday and purchased flights of 6 each. The guy working offered to help me carry my flight to the table, which was a nice gesture. I enjoyed all the beers and seltzers in my flight, and I added on an elderberry cider taster, which was also tasty. Service in general was great, and GM Michael helped me pick out a shirt to purchase also. If you have a fear of mannequins, just know that there are at least five of them around the building. I do not have that fear, fortunately, but know someone who does. They do have a full food menu, including brunch on Sundays, but we only had drinks during our visit. One other thing is that the building is artsy, spacious, and really well done, so if you're a family with small children and there are 20+ open tables available, maybe pick any of them other than the one directly next to a group of adults, especially when you can't push your seat back and have to have someone in our party move for you. (She didn't say "thank you" either, which seemed so pretentious.) All told, if I find myself in the area again, I'd definitely return.

Yelp
Beer is mediocre but we really liked the pulled pork and nachos. Wish they had more beer options

Yelp
This is my second time going to the Voodoo Brewing in Houston, PA. It was so good the first time, we came back with my daughter and her fiancé. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. She was able to help us choose a nice variety for our flights of beers. The staff in the kitchen were really nice. We all enjoyed our meals. They have good food, good beer and a good time to be had by all!

Yelp
Food was relatively good but a bit pricey, but the overall experience is great. Staff is very friendly.

Yelp
There is a lot to like about this place. The drinks and food are good, the setup is cool, but there are some aspects that bring it down. Starting with the good, the food and beers I have ordered have always been great. The fried pickles might be the best I've ever had. The spice on them along with the Cajun ranch, amazing. The chicken sandwich and Turkey blt were also great. Really good fries and house made ranch as well. The bad parts relate to the setup and service. There are no servers coming around to the tables. This makes the place have an awkward feel to it, kind of like a non personalized Sheetz experience. It is also frustrating when you need a simple item, but cannot just ask someone. Additionally, phone service in Washington County is awful in many places. So it is annoying when you enter an order and it just does not go through because of this. I also found it very odd that there is not a single tv in the main dining area. It is the type of place that would be perfect to watch a game.
google avatar

Natalie H.

Yelp
The menu is awesome and not your typically brewery food. I love the diverse things they offer. I really enjoyed my mussels but I wish it would have come with some toasted bread instead of the sliced sourdough. The sour beer was my favorite and was super refreshing. The only thing I think that would improve this bar is having a bartender rather than ordering online and pickup your beer. It was a little confusing but the lady at the register helped us out and we will definitely return.

Yelp
Voodoo has a great atmosphere, with live music when we stopped by on Thursday night, but we weren't impressed with the food nor the server situation. As others have mentioned, there are no servers; however, there are no signs stating to just use the QR codes at the table or order at the bar, so that was a bit confusing. Once we finally figured out to order at the bar, those working behind the bar were not very friendly or helpful. Beer was good but food and staff are mediocre. I understand they've just recently opened so will definitely give them another shot.

Yelp
It's a beautiful place! As we had our dinner we saw 2 tables of guests sit and wait for service and then get up and leave because they weren't waited on.. Not everyone knows about the self service app, it may be good to have a greater talking to the visitors. Also, I don't want to comment on the food since it is a new place and probably has to work out some bugs, but I am hoping the 3rd time is a charm when we return or it may be our last visit.

Yelp
We've been to all of the local voodoo breweries in the Pittsburgh region. Still haven't been to the original in Meadville but one day. This location is sharp and nice looking with lots of space to sit inside or outside. If you're a dog lover it's perfect for hanging outside and having a beer. The beers are always decent as they're not made on site but shipped from the original location. That's a little bit of a downer, but I understand the model of the business that they have in place. The food is good. I like that this location like some of the others have food. You order everything from your phone with a scan of a QR code which is awesome. The fried pickles were the best, maybe the best that I've ever tried. They give Sienna Mercata in the city a run for their money on fried pickles. I had a pizza which was good. I didn't have a beer today but settled for an old fashioned honey with Liberty Pole Spirits bourbon. You can't go wrong with some of the best local bourbon.

Yelp
I work just 2 doors away from this place, so my husband and I decided to walk over and have a late lunch to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We were a little concerned by the perceived need to use a qr code to order our meal. We aren't the sort of couple who use phones for such things, but the woman behind the bar made us feel comfortable by providing familiar physical menus. She also turned down the music without our asking as we were the only ones there at that hour on a Wednesday and we were pretty much shouting at one another while we sat at our table. (Thank you again!) I ordered a burger and my husband the "Not a Philly Cheesesteak". He said it was very good, but the roll fell apart immediately. It was very messy! As for my burger, it was delicious, but it was not a "Smash Burger". There was no sign of searing or the crusty edges you'd get from a real smash. While it was a thick, juicy patty, don't get your hopes up. We were very happy with the absence of tv sets adorning the walls. Very refreshing! We'll be back.

Yelp
As much as I wanted to love this place it was very much meh. You're pretty much on your own as far as figuring out how to order. Once we ordered our food it took a really long time before it was ready. Whenever we did get our food it was pretty awful. We tried to order a variety of items from the menu, but literally everything was equally bad. The pretzel was burnt and rock hard. The nachos had hardly any pulled pork on them, the salsa was more like a marinara sauce, the cilantro was old and wilted, the tortillas chips didn't seem to be fresh. The wings were so bad that the person who ordered them only took 2 bites because they didn't want to get sick from them. The meat that was in the cheesesteak was like chewing rubber. The only reason why I gave the 2 stars that I did was because the employees whenever they did actually acknowledge you seemed friendly enough and the decor was fun to look at.

Yelp
I went here with a few friends on a weeknight. We ordered the Houston Caprese pizza and the tortilla burger to share, we found the pizza to not match the description that was on the menu, but it was alright and the crust was very good. The burger was alright, but could have used some sauce. We also ordered 2 beers, and they were poured well and tasted great. The situation with the lack of waitresses/waiters was not ideal. We ordered from a QR code and had to go pick our food up at the food window, along with our beer which I found to be astounding, considering that you go out to eat so you don't have to do those things for yourself but maybe they're adapting to the new era? The problem with this model is that it limits the customer experience along with creating a very niche environment for people who prefer that type of "service". Unfortunately, we do not (and we were all under 30). If your phone is dead, or you do not own a smartphone, you may have a problem ordering anything here and your experience may be limited.

Yelp
Great service by all. Friendly management. Bartender was very helpful. Food is good. Drinks are even better. I couldn't ask for a better brewery in this small town. Who would have ever thought I could get a Kim chi burger in Houston pa.

Yelp
So I gave Voodoo a second chance, this time going to their Tuesday night trivia. This was a much better experience!! I just got a few drinks and appetizers with my friends and we played trivia for a few hours. Definitely more chill and less hectic this time around. I'n part cause it wasn't a Friday night and two that there were no technical difficulties. Still the biggest hold up with this place is still the QR ordering. I like it but at the same time not really? It's fine when it works but less technology inclined ppl might find it annoying. Also, it is pretty expensive for what it is, especially the speciality drinks. This is Houston, not the Strip. Also the high top chairs are soooo uncomfortable. They really should rethink those. Goto the trivia nights!

Brittany A.

Yelp
This place is great. The beer and food are fantastic. It does have a very west coast vibe with the service being at the bar. I love it and Washington county should too. The food is solid and above average brewery food. If all you have to complain about is walking to the bar to get your beers, don't leave a review. That's silly.
google avatar

Eric M.

Yelp
...I've been a few times and am still confused as to the flow of the place. You can order off the "squirrel" code and there is also a sign near the bar where you can order. There is a pick up window for food and you can order at the bar. IMO - it would just be easier to have wait staff. I'm old but the place just doesn't have a flow to it. The beers are good though I hate drinking out of a goblet; it makes me feel like I should be wearing an ascot. The pizza my grand daughter got was almost inedible but the "chitty chitty bang bang my wife got was good. I'll give it one more try...
google avatar

Yelp
BEST Smoked Wings that I've ever had, you shouldn't leave before trying them, they are a must!

Rachel M.

Yelp
We keep coming back because it's local, food is always consistent and we love the beer. It's a great place to bring our kids, when we get lucky enough to find a table. When we arrived, almost every high top was open and all 4 low tops were taken. We can't sit young children at high tops and it seems many people prefer the low tops as well. Our kids were content playing games and listening to the guitarist for a while until a table opened. Again, we waited it out and enjoyed our time. Burgers, beer and seasonal items are always good.

Yelp
I want to love Voodoo but there are a few things that keep me from giving more than 3 stars. There is ample parking out back and the venue is large. There is bar, high top, and outdoor seating but I wish there were more normal height tables and chairs with backs. You must use a QR code to view the current beer menu and the QR code is always spotty for me. They had food and other drink menus at the table but then you have to order using the QR code or go to a checkout location at the bar to order. The entire.process is cumbersome and frustrating. We sat at the bar in order to get service. I understand that this model may be efficient when it is packed, but early on a Friday when there are a handful of parties it is frustrating. The fried pickles have a bite to them and if pickles were stuck together in the fried, the batter will be raw. I am a fan of their pizzas and while the margarita pizza had excellent flavor, I would have appreciated more fresh mozzarella and basil. Thankfully, Voodoo has excellent beer and an expansive drink menu so we keep coming back.

Yelp
A newer brewery in Houston, Pa. An interesting first impression walking in. Plenty of people walking around, standing around behind the bar, but no one to assist in seating or ordering food, or starting a tab. We eventually guessed you seat yourself, and after having to go to the bar to ask about the situation, you can only order food by QR Code on your smartphone, then you're texted when your drinks are up, and when your food is ready at the counter. I'm all for a different approach, and using technology, but they really need someone at the door to greet you, and explain how they run their business. Ok, now to the food, I got the Smokehouse burger, a grain bun, pretty good, well cooked burger, juicy, good, topped with brisket, which was ok, I added bacon, which was extra. Almost enough bbq sauce, smoky, good taste. Lettuce and red onion finish it off. A good burger overall, would get it again. A side of good, crispy fries, instead of housemade chips, which is extra, i'm not keen on having to pay another 2.50 for fries, whereas you should be able to choose either with your burger, but i did this time, made for a good meal. I'll give this place another try. They do their own brand of soda, I got the Cola, it was pretty good.

Carissa A.

Yelp
My husband and I went in today and had the worst experience. Service was terrible and food was too. We were only able to order one beer each because the bartender never came back over to us. The place was nearly empty and our bartender disappeared after we ordered our food. Will not be back after such a terrible experience. Beer was good, as always though.
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
Brand new place with a few bugs to work out. Burger was okay but not outstanding. I like the beers from Voodoo Brewing so that is good. The learning edge is using your smartphone to place your orders and pay your bill. You will need to use WiFi cause T-Mobile has lousy reception. Keep this in mind the provide password is printed in CAPS but type in all lowercase. Most important is a friendly and helpful owner plus a staff that seeks to be helpful. Place is a bit pricey but is a good addition to the neighborhood.
google avatar

Emily A.

Yelp
Stopped by on my way to the Tanger Outlets for some quick bites and a beer flight. Really fun and clean atmosphere, nice selection of beer, nice variety of food options. They utilize a QR code for ordering which I love! I can even close my tab using that code which I love. If you're out in Washington, don't skip this place!

Glenda M.

Yelp
This was a recommendation from the bartender Shelly. Shelly is very well versed in what is available to eat and drink. Take her suggestions she is Excellent! I think the beer cheese makes it(the Cheesesteak). We also had the Chef Special Fish n Chips melt. It was also excellent. The pickled onions made it! Had voodoo love child(my favorite) and other half had the Lacto-Kooler (he really (he really Liked this one). The space is very welcoming and cool vibes for sure. Now about parking and actually getting to the entrance. This is another story entirely. The front of the building says "Main Parking in the rear of building". However, parking in the back does not have an entrance. You still have to walk to the front of the building. The front of the building does have parking spaces, but you take your own life in your hands to get into the front parking lot. Once in the front parking lot, all the spaces are "Reserved" for basically First Responders (police, fireman, EMS, etc.) which is fine but a warning would be appreciated. And get this Expectant Mother's and New Mother's. Not certain that is necessary to reserve 2 spaces at a brewery for expectant mother's. Maybe call it Family Parking. So all in all excellent service, food and of course the drinks! Just need to tweak the parking and/or signage. Hence the 4 stars.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and drinks. Ordering is a bit challenging through a QR code linked online ordering, but it is intuitive and ultimately does a great job. Phenomenal wings, fresh and flavorful mussels, and better than average burger. A bit of Mac and cheese completed this excellent meal for two big eaters. We will be back for the best food in the immediate area.

Marvin C.

Yelp
VERY limited selection of beers, lots of handles but only about 9 offered. NOT a brewery, just a beer bar. $9 a beer in insane, a litter more will get a six pack at total wine. Food is way overpriced, too.
google avatar

Yelp
We liked coming here to support our local business, but experienced the final straw this week and will not be returning. It's a real shame, because it has so much potential. The service is just not there. They always manage to screw up food orders and the kitchen is sooooo slooooowwww....The place was EMPTY and it was like this! I asked for no sauce on a sandwich and fries instead of chips. It came out (one eternity later) covered in sauce and with chips. Not to mention there was an up-charge for the fries that was not known when ordering. When an employee asks "chips or fries?" Its probably a good practice to inform the customer of any up-charges involved. To top off this (not so) lovely experience, the food made me sick and I almost had to call off work the following day, which would've made for one very expensive meal! (Side note, their food is very expensive to begin with)

Elaine B.

Yelp
First time here and I was immensely impressed with the food and service. Our server, Shelly, was so friendly, helpful and gave excellent recommendations from the menu. She also did a great job of checking in to make sure everything was good. And it was SO good! The Voodoo dry rub wings were incredible - I've never tasted anything like them before. They alone are worth the visit, but we also enjoyed the fried pickle chips (very tasty and a generous portion) and the pulled pork nachos! The pulled pork on the nachos was so tender and juicy that I'm already planning a return trip to try the Pulled Porker sandwich. And I definitely need to come back to sample to bar offerings also! And I was told that they now do takeout too! Another big plus! Great place - we'll definitely be back soon.
google avatar

Krissy S.

Yelp
I love this brewery! It's always a good vibe - friendly staff, good music, nice people. They have a lot of beers but they do run out of certain ones if you go later. If you stop in, try the pretzel with beer cheese! It's spectacular!!

Rick D.

Yelp
I generally love Voodoo location, but this one was disorganized. We were sitting at the bar and were told we had to get up, go get in line to order and hope we still had seats when we got back. We left and went to the brewery next door.

John V.

Yelp
Will not return. Confusing food and drink ordering system. Only one person behind bar for drinks and non-app food orders. One guy cooking. We received a buzzer device for alerting us when our order is ready. Our order was sitting at the window until I decided to check to see if it was ours. Cook just said he didn't know the order was configured with the alert device. I guess he thought we were supposed to somehow know when it was ready. My cheesesteak was about six inches long. Tasteless meat, sparse onions and peppers. The fries were about 1 inch long. Seemed to be the dregs at the bottom of the bag. My wife had the chicken sandwich. It has an excessive amount of condiments on it. She ended up eating the chicken and very little bun. Her fries were a little bit longer than mine. She had a bottle of cola, no glass, no ice. I had a glass of beer. My 6 inch cheesesteak cost $18, the chicken sandwich was $12. With fries and drinks, it totaled nearly $50. Will never return to this place. I understand why there were very few people in there.

Yelp
I really like the atmosphere and it is awesome to have a brewing place so close to home. For new customers it is very confusing with how to order and such when you've never did it before. It would be helpful to have some kind of hostess or someone manning the door to see if anyone has questions or is lost. I know you want to cut costs by having as few working for you as possible, but not everyone is hip with the QR thing. And with the cell service, it didn't work half the time. Please try and fix this. Other than that, I love it!!!
google avatar

Yelp
First impression.. not impressed at all. My wife and I came to try out the new brewery location. Walked in and stood at the bar for 15 minutes. Several employees all standing behind the bar, no one would engage us or talk to us. After 10 minutes my wife made the comment to leave. That is when another person slid a paper over and said we need to scan the QR code to order. No help, no one to assist in beer suggestions or anything. After setting up my profile, everything is ordered through online ordering, then a text is sent when your drinks or food is ready. None of the employees standing around run food or drink. While eating, no one checks on tables to see if everything is ok or if we need other drinks. Basically, a lot of employees hanging out while customers all wait in themselves. 3 stars. Atmosphere is great. Entertainment is good if there's a band, food is ok and drinks, if you are aware of Voodoo beers are good. But no one will help you and you will be your own server.

Jim W.

Yelp
Great set up good beers. But... What ever happened to ordering from a the bartender right in front of you!!!! Put the correct wifi password if you want the QR code used Have enough QR code placards so you don't have to play where's Waldo. Prices. Guess what guys you're not in the city. Your in Houston,PA Just plain frustrating to try to get a beer and serve yourself your own food. Won't be back. So... is this place just that plain arrogant? Gave it a second chance. Saturday night 7/23. Not only having to deal with the f'ing QR code and having to serve myself. As I was in the parking lot trying to closing my tab for the evening. It pop up that they so nicely closed it for me giving themselves a 20% gratuity for at best a barista and busboy. I already tipped them as I picked up my own beers. Hey management. Look for my Amex dispute. Get you sh!t together.

Katelyn R.

Yelp
The Voodoo burger, potato chips, and beer was ok. Overpriced in my opinion a couple of the IPAs tasted bad. The vibes are what you make it, they play music and have great artwork on the walls and hanging up.

Nick P.

Yelp
Very good beer and food to match but just not worth the price. Very overpriced for the area and better options for the value close by.

Tim G.

Yelp
Overpriced mediocre service and beers. Its on the water which gives it an extra star.

Herb T.

Yelp
Stopped by for a beer and some food on Saturday evening (June 17 2023). Place had a nice vibe with live music. Problem was we were looking for a beer and food. Stood in a long and slow line to get a beer; some confusion on where to line up if you just wanted a drink. That instruction changed as the evening moved along. Then came the food issue. Ordered two cheese burgers and pork nachos - took over an hour and the place was not all that busy. Heard similar complaints from many patrons including even longer wait times. Add to the fact we had to clean off our own table before seating and the fact our food was just slightly warm (fries were cold). Not sure if it is a staffing issue or poor management issue but you have to wonder what is the problem. We had a similar experience the last time we stopped. So much good about this place but there are far too many good places for craft beer and food that have a much better handle of service to accept this place.
