Definitely weren’t my favorite donuts! They were over the top and quite lavish, which is the whole point. The actual donut dough was good. The filling left much to be desired - flavor was good but you had to eat half the donut to even find it, which was quite disappointing. The donuts with a ton of toppings were fun but super rich! Again, that’s the point, but I’ve had much better donuts elsewhere. The guy at the counter was really sweet and shared his favorites.

I remember trying these for the first time at Universal Studios. I'm glad they finally made a Chicago location. I wanted to try the maple bacon donut, but this wasn't my favorite. The chocolate frosting and oreo are pretty good.

I’ve enjoyed Austin and Eugene’s locations and was excited to find out that Chicago has one as well! This location is clean, pretty organized and has tasty treats. Very few seats available though. For such a huge building I feel like they could have more chairs.

I didnt want to rate this place because its a chain restaurant, but wanted to make an exception since these are some unique doughnuts. Overall, these are some of the best doughnuts especially those that are generally popular and offered in many shops. Their buttermilk bar, blueberry cake, apple fritter and chocolate old fashioned are some of the best. However, their memphis mafia was exceptional!! Its a fritter with banana, peanut butter and chocolate chip. A sugary treat with complimentary flavors!! I was a bit disappointed with their banana cream pie doughnut. There wasnt much banana bavarian cream in this doughnut, but more cake. But i guess you cant win them all. But overall, exceptionally made doughnuts!

Very happy with my first trip to Voodoo Doughnut in Fulton Market! Everything was pretty much as expected at the location from what you would expect from the photos. Staff was kind and helpful and there were all of the different flavors to choose from. Best donuts I've had yet. Would gladly return. ❤️

Delicious donut spot in Fulton Market! I was so excited when I saw that Voodoo had expanded to Chicago! They have such fun specialty donuts and also good prices on regular donuts as well. We got the limited chai spice donut and their apple fritter. Both were delicious and I’ll definitely come back for a morning donut run.

I've known about Voodoo for more than a decade now and all the craze in Portland. First, I'm not a big fan of donuts to begin with. But if I were to eat one, I'd rather it may melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Warm, gooey, etc. I find Voodoo donuts to be dry and it's often served after sitting for a while. It's a fun stop for out-of-town guests though, because of the unique flavor combinations and funky names. All in all, a unique one-time experience but not a go-to dessert stop for me.

I love Voodoo Donut so I was stoked to see they opened a Chicago location. I've gone here twice now and maybe it's my luck but my donuts have not been satisfying either visit. I've tried everything from the hibiscus to mango tango to the blunt to banana crème (seasonal flavor) and the dough has been dry and the toppings just fall off after the first bite. They aren't bad. It's still a fun donut and I'll probably give it a third try but it's not what I was excited for. They have all the classics plus they do some seasonal flavors but nothing was as good as I remember it being out west.

Went to this place due to the hype I've heard about it. The place was fairly empty on a Tuesday morning around 10 am. There's street parking which was conveniently located. Price was average. Donuts themselves were cute and definitely not the usual run on the mill ones. Taste was okay...design and names were catchy. If you like to try different donut combinations or flavors, this is the place to go!

We were absolutely ecstatic when we stumbled upon Voodoo Doughnut after a fun night at City Winery! My husband and I had heard so many great things about this place, and it did not disappoint. We decided to try a variety: the Banana Cream Pie, Oh Captain, My Captain, Maple Bar, Bacon Maple Bar, Buttermilk Bar, and Raspberry Romeo. Every single one was spectacular! As a vegetarian, I didn't try the Bacon Maple Bar, but everything else was out of this world. The maple bar might just be my new obsession, and I'm pretty sure I could eat here every day of my life. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The atmosphere was fun and full of personality--everything was pink and covered in their iconic logo. The bright lighting made it feel lively, but the real showstopper was the revolving glass case of doughnuts. Seeing all the creative names paired with their delicious creations was such a unique touch! We are now huge fans and can't wait to go back. Highly recommend to anyone who loves doughnuts or just wants to experience something truly fun and delicious!

I love how late they're open everyday. They have a huge selection of doughnuts, including vegan options, so it's honestly hard to choose one. I do wish the space felt cozier and more welcoming, it just felt a little bare with only a few tables and so much open space. The staff wasn't too welcoming, but they weren't rude at all. Overall, come for the doughnuts and that's it, I loved them!

While at Fulton Market I kept noticing people walking by with large pink boxes. I knew something was up and grew very suspicious of a close by donut shop. It didn't take long to track down the Voodoo donut shop down the block. On the outside of the entrance was a poster with a description of all the donuts being sold. On the inside was a three tier carousel to provide a visual example of all the types of donuts being sold for the day. We ended up taking 5 donuts home. Most of the donuts offered are contemporary style and my preference leans more toward traditional. I had the homer which was a raised donut covered with a strawberry icing and the blueberry cake. The blueberry cake was probably my fav. Nothing spectacular here. They are fairly large donuts and range in price from $1.50 to $4.75 depending on the size and toppings. There are some creative donut creations to indulge in if that is your thing. I do demand a lot when looking for a good donut such a dough flavor, texture, sweetness, and moisture which is why the rating is not so high.

Do we need another donut place in Fulton Market? Yes, we do. This has become my go-to spot since I figured out how to avoid the lines. Come before 8am. Parking is much better then too. The yeast donuts are fluffy and fresh. The old fashioned (my favorite) is crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and most importantly not too sweet. They have some unique flavors and some gimmicky ones (like the Homer).

I like voodoo donuts a lot and was excited for them to come to chicago! The prices are pretty reasonable for where it's located and there's a ton of variety. 1 star off because I've had them twice and they have not been hitting the same way as the ones I had in Portland - a lot of them like the signature voodoo donut and the Oreo one felt way too sweet (and I have a real sweet tooth). Maybe I need to try other flavors that are more balanced. But they may need to work on their recipe or they won't compare favorably to Chicago favorites like Stans and do-rite.

Donuts look appealing but taste was just ok. We ordered the Homer and cinnamon sugar cake. Maybe if we're in the area we would stop by again and try other flavors. Was not a wow moment.

Voodoo Doughnuts has garnered attention as the new shop on the block serving up novelty donuts- I was impressed by the variety and was excited to visit, but it didn't rise far beyond this reputation for me. Upon walking in, the employees were very friendly and helpful. The shop is pretty large, so it was puzzling that there were only three small high top tables for seating. I ended up trying the banana cream pie, maple blazer blunt, and maple cream donut. I really liked how generous the cream filling was in the first and last, and how large the donuts are in general! I was disappointed though that the banana cream tasted very artificially flavored. The blazer blunt did not have much flavor, so the maple cream was definitely the winner of the three. In general, the bread was dry and a bit tough, and the frosting was hard, falling off into large chunks. I found them to be cloyingly sweet overall and was a bit nauseated halfway through just one. The donuts were fine overall, but with Do-Rite and Stan's within a few blocks, there isn't much of a reason to stop by again.

Finally made it down to Voodoo donuts. I completely forgot there is a chicago location until we seen it at Fulton Market. We had to go there. At the spot my wife and I split the old dirty bastard. Upon the first bite regretted splitting with her. We then ordered the classic dozen to take home as we were not sure when we can make it back. We also had to share some with the kids.

I've been wanting to check out Voodoo for a while now, and so glad I was able to finally stop in. They have a wide variety of donuts to choose from. Out of the many I chose from, I loved the banana cream & maple bacon long John. Can't wait to go back!

Alright, most of us have heard of Voodoo at this point and I'm so glad they're in Chicago. Voodoo lives up to the hype! A friend and I stopped by on a Wednesday evening and there was no line. However in 20 minutes there was a line out the door! Not sure if it was just the timing, but they were out of some of the donuts on display. That was a bit frustrating. I stood there for about 5 minutes watching the donuts go around even though there were pictures of options posted outside. I went with the traditional voodoo donut and the old dirty bastard. Honestly, I liked the old dirty bastard a lot more. The voodoo wasn't bad, but I was surprised when it was filled with jelly. The combinations of the flavors weren't groundbreaking, but the quality of the donuts are what makes them special. The names of the donuts and the theme of the place is pretty hilarious, if your mind lives in the gutter. When I'm in Fulton Market, I'm definitely going to stop by! I also noticed the drinks and would be interested to try their coffee with the donuts. I can't wait to try more flavors and their coffee!

9/10 old dirty bastard- very good but honestly it's just kinda a dry donut. What makes it good is the Oreo cookies and caramel drizzle on top. I feel like anyone could make this donut. Came here solely the chocolate, peanut butter cream that they had on special and got two of those which was a letdown.. the donuts were kind of hard and dry, and not very sweet. 9/10Portland cream I think was the name - huge, delicious ! I was so excited to try this place out after hearing so much about it. $25 got us about 5 assorted donuts to try. We arrived later in the evening, no like no wait. It was very bright, woke me right up; didn't even need caffeine. We ordered our donuts, and they were packed in minutes. Every donut I tried was delicious. I love the jelly filled ones the most, especially the vodoo doll. The donuts were cute and tasty. I will be back.

Pretty pricey donuts but great for people with a serious sweet tooth! A little too sweet for my taste. Some seating available inside. Line moves quickly. Staff is always friendly! Have given me an extra treat occasionally!

I don't know that Chicago really needed a doughnut infusion from the West Coast, but if you haven't tried Voodoo Doughnuts at their original locations, it's nice to be able to try them in Chicago. We grabbed a few to try and prices ranged from $3 to $4.75 each. It was nice that they were all on display, so you can easily select what you are interested in. They will have stiff competition with Chicago stand-outs like Do-Rite and Stan's.

I've always seen so much hype for Voodoo donuts and it's nice that there's a location in Chicago! I got the Dirt, Smores and Blueberry raised donut. The dirt was great and I recommend it for those who enjoy oreos/cookies and cream. The smores donut was so indulgent, filled with marshmallow cream. The blueberry one was also good but probably not the best in the city. The service was pretty quick and I love that your donuts come in a cute pink box. If you're in the area and need a donut fix, this spot is a great choice!

Tried this place with my girlfriends on a Sunday. My girlfriend ended up ordering a sprinkle cake donut which was just delicious. The vibe inside the store was chill. The staff were super friendly and warm. I would highly recommend this place! Must Try!

I might be biased because I LOVE donuts, but Voodoo is NOT overrated. One thing I love about Voodoo is all of their different donut creations that you can't find anywhere else. Another amazing thing about them is that the have cake donuts and yeast donuts!!!!! I hate cake donuts, so this is the perfect place for someone that has a strong preference for one or the other! I tried the classic chocolate ring, glazed, strawberry go-tart and the homer. My favorite was the strawberry go-tart and the homer. It was so hard to pick which ones to get, so I can't wait to go back and try more.

Love donuts, you have to try the hoo-doo of the VooDoo Donuts! I have had the pleasure of visiting the one in San Antonio, Texas near the River Walk and the one in Orlando, Florida on City Walk. Now on to this one in my favorite city! Every employee is so friendly it's almost scary, like they are working some of that hoo doo to get you to purchase more of their VooDoo. Donuts are huge, unique and creative; some of their most popular shapes include the blunt. The voo doo doll and the large cock and balls. Love the pink decor and crystal chandeliers.

I was prepared to be thoroughly unimpressed with these "overhyped" doughnuts. Passing by one night, I saw the long line and thought "Oh, why not?" Okay. Truthfully, they were better than I expected. They tasted very fresh even at 10pm that night. They were unique with their flavor combinations. They were better than many doughnuts I've had in this city. Not all by any means. But many. I only wish they didn't stack them in the boxes the way they did. Too crammed. Made a mess of the doughnuts on bottom.

Finally!!! I have visited VooDoo in Portland and Austin and at last Chicago!! #VEGAN options available and they are bomb! Best vegan doughnuts Ive found in my 13 years. Only recommendation: more seating needed Although not directly in the downtown, they picked a great location, very hype spot. I was in and out quickly, was fairly busy but they are quick and seemed friendly. Ive read many of the other reviews, maybe they arent anything special but what I think it cool is the vibe, the fact that they are open until 3am and the vegan donuts. I cant hardly go anywhere at 2am to get vegan fast food. HERE I have an option:)

New kid on the block and the hype for three is still high. Usually I'll see a line out the door when I walk by. A friend had some donuts Uber eats to us, and they were great. All the seasonal donuts were delicious - and massive. I want to try their regular flavors.

Was around the area for shopping. I saw a line outside the building and was easy to spot. We waited about 5 minutes in the cold but decided to step out of line and try online ordering after seeing a sign for online pickup. The line was quite long out of the store and it was cold on a December lunch hours. I went shopping and tried to order online for pickup-- and online ordering was closed. =( big fail. After shopping, went back to Voodoo and to my surprise, there was no line. This was about 3pm. I am glad I didn't have to wait in the cold for what I could've gotten without a line. There were many workers and very friendly. I loved the inside decor and pink colors. It is very welcoming. They even have a donut decoration station where customers can watch employees put on toppings of donuts. The bathroom had sewage issues so they were allowing all to use 1 bathroom. Bathrooms are split by gender (not gender-neutral). You'll need to ask for a code from am employee. We ordered 5 donuts and it wasn't anything special. It definitely was not worth waiting in line. was beyond thrilled to give the Voodoo Doughnut in Fulton Market a try, especially after falling in love with it during my visit to Colorado. Let me tell you, the Chicago branch lives up to the hype! Despite the long line snaking out the door, the wait is totally worth it. I snagged some must-try flavors including the Oh Captain, My Captain (a cereal lover's dream with Captain Crunch), Ring of Fire (served/topped with a chili pepper), Sprinkle Cake, Maple Cream, and Mango Tango (bursting with delicious mango flavor). The interior boasts a seriously cool vibe, decked out in black and pink. Plus, the staff is incredibly patient and friendly, helping customers navigate the extensive selection of delectable doughnuts. Trust me, a trip to Voodoo Doughnut is an absolute treat you won't regret!

Voodoo Doughnut has opened in the Chicagoland area, and I spent New Year's Day seeing where the magic happens. Before entering the doughtnut haven there's a banner of donuts on the window so you can plan ahead what you want to get. Sometimes the lines can get pretty long. Upon entering, you're greeted with a mesmerizing carousel of doughnuts. Luckily, I planned ahead and went to the website and read every doughnut description and made a list of each donut I wanted to purchase. There's yeast and cake type donuts. I like them both. There's so many donuts and it will take a few visits to taste all of them. I was pretty happy with my choices, which included Oh Captain, My Captain, Butterfingering, Chocolate Coconut Cake, Double Chocolate, Mango Tango, and Maple Old Fashioned!

Even after living in Austin for 5 years, I never got to try the famous voodoo doughnuts. We came in Saturday night to order a couple of different flavors. I liked the Homer slice and the old dirty bastard the best. We also got the Diablo Rex, sprinkle cake, and ring of fire. I'm glad I tried these, and they were all a good price point; however, I like the other donut shops in Chicago overall in terms of taste.

I'm surprised by some of the low rankings! We walked right in at 7 pm on a Saturday for some snacks to bring home after dinner and they had all the varieties we wanted! There's lots to choose from and while I do wish they had descriptions somewhere, it's easy enough to pull up your phone and read them online. I highly recommend any of the fritter types (Memphis Mafia is a banana fritter with peanut butter and it is DELISH) as well as the vegan peanut butter and jelly! You wouldn't know it's vegan.

Welcome to the West Loop, Voodoo Doughnut! My partner and I have been here more times than I'd like to admit these past few weeks! After seeing constant lines out the door, we knew we just had to try it! First of all, I really enjoy the theming of this bakery! Such a fun nod to New Orleans! I also like how they aren't afraid to be bold with their doughnut names and flavors! I'll be honest- my favorite doughnut is a good old raised glazed (Can't go wrong with a classic, right?). That being said, everything we have tried is yummy! Highlights include the Portland Cream, Magic Roast Doughnut, and Banana Cream Pie! And yes- we did try the Cock N' Balls. It's good, but quite large! Five of us split it. My one complaint: the coffee was just okay! With such fun and inventive foods, I'd hoped for a better coffee! If I could change one thing, I wish there was a water station. With such sweet doughnuts, I'd love to be able to have some water!

I've been to the original location in Portland, OR so I'm familiar with Voodoo Doughnut. The new West Loop location is similar. Donuts are fun, but are way too overly sweet and quality, texture and tastes of the actual donut is on par with Dunkin. There is nothing special here other than the atmosphere and fun donut shapes. Thee service was fine. The cashier was friendly and I received my donut quickly. If want to spend $5.00 on one donut you and get your money's worth, you should patronize a high quality, local donut shop like Do rite Donuts, Fire Cakes or Doughnut vault. There're not even the best donut shop in Portland, OR, that's blue star donuts. In sum, leave this place for the tourists and your donuts some where else.

So excited I got to try voodoo! Very cool place I love all the pink! Staff was friendly as well, I was able to bring my doggy in! Ordering was a bit stressful, all the donuts are displayed on a rotating shelf and it's hard to see all the flavors until they rotate in front of you. I felt stressed because of the long line and panicked. I would order ahead next time! Besides that, these are my favorite donuts in the city! They are so big! My favorite was the Boston crème, they were not skimpy on the crème! The banana crème pie was also very good full of flavor! Even a day after I got these they were still fresh! Can't wait to try more!

Stopped in the other day because the outside of the building caught my attention. There are so many different types of donuts to pick from and are pretty tasty and don't cost a bunch of money. The only downfall is they only take card payments and no cash. I bought two donuts and was going to pay cash because it was so cheap but had to pay card. There was one gentleman working when I stopped in and he was friendly.

Funny and unique donuts with many flavors including one that that is part of the male body :-). Everyone gets a kick out of that one. The display for the donuts is so colorful and you want to try each one. They have tables here and they have drinks as well and the decor inside is really a lot of fun to look at. This one is in the heart of west loop near all the restaurants and there is diagonal parking right in front but you have to pay through the app for meters about $4 per hour or so.

What a great way to end 2023 by having Chicago's own Voodoo Donuts location!! My first time trying Voodoo was in Colorado and I fell in love. Upon entering, you are immediately greeted by their high energy staff which really sets the mood. They have their donuts on display via a revolving stand. They have so many flavors to choose from that it can be overwhelming but exciting. My choices were - grape ape, maple bacon bar, Go-tart, and Portland cream. Mind you these donuts are HUGE so its perfect for sampling & sharing with friends. I bought the Portland cream for my bf because he likes cream donuts and I don't. The grape ape is sweet and tasted like grape kool-aid. The Go-tart is supposed to be like a pop tart (my only criticism on it is that the jelly filling was only on 1 side of the donut).

Sugar coma alert! Notorious donut chain voodoo finally opened in Chicago, and let me tell you, the hype is no lie We are not wait in line people but I wanted to check it out. Pillowy soft donuts with unusual flavors that are ridiculously delicious. And the best part? So many vegan flavors. It was heavenly. Check it out for yourself. The only reason I am giving this a 4 is because of service. I asked what was in the school days and the person working the line said it's a vegan donut but some people order it anyway.....not the best way to represent when this store clearly caters to vegan patrons with it's offerings.

Their doughnuts are amazing. This isn't your run of the mill DD... These are delicious. My favorite is the chocolate ring doughnut (I know it's basic). But it's my favorite. Try the others as you see fit.

I really wanted to not like Voodoo Doughnut since it felt very overhyped. But I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. Would give it 4.5 stars if I could on Yelp. There were a lot of crazy sounding donuts which I was too scared to try. So I stuck with their classic voodoo donut and the Old Dirty Bastard donut. The voodoo donut was a good but it was disappointing because mine didn't have the pretzel sticking out as I've seen in pictures. I like the yeast donuts here because they are so fluffy. This particular donut has a great chocolate frosting though I could have done without the jelly center as I felt it made it too sweet. The real star here is the Old Dirty Bastard donut. Talk about combining all of my favorites: donuts, oreos, and peanut butter! Easily one of my favorite donuts of all time. Overall, I really liked the donuts that I tried. I would come back for the Old Dirty Bastard donut alone. Plus, the donuts are pretty big so I feel like I get my moneys worth. Would be open to trying some of their other flavors.

loved all the variety of donuts inside. they even had some specials going on. the line was going pretty quick and you can even order ahead. we got 6 donuts to try and i'd say our favorite was the cannoli one, captain crunch and the banana cream. i'd come back, the quality and sizing is good and for the price.

Okay - I have tried these twice so I didn't give a 3 star for a one time misfire, but yet here I am, giving a 3 star after the second try and I think it's warranted. First off - the staff here is wonderful. Everyone is so chill and kind and patient. I love that. Especially when I take my kids because they have a little anxiety around lots of people and they're learning how to interact in these situations and just... 10/10 for the employees. Second of all - the donut selection. Wonderful. 10/10 for options. Lastly - I do not think the donut quality is very good. We have ordered the employee selected dozen twice. And I wonder if they aren't taking the leftover day old donuts and putting them in those which from a business standpoint is smart, but from a consumer standpoint the donuts have never tasted fresh to us at all. They taste like grocery store donuts with decorations. Really frustrating because I was so pumped for this place to open, but I don't think we'll ever go again. ETA- this got a 3 instead of a 2 from me purely because I hold out hope that if you order in-person the day of the donuts are fresh.

I was very excited that we now have voodoo in Chicago. We came here later in the day and it wasn't super busy, but then people started coming in all at once. I felt a little rushed because there were a lot of people. Ordering was a little confusing because it's my first time there. The employee wasn't too friendly when I asking/making my options. I wanted to try their apple fritter, but it was sold out for the day. We ended up getting the voodoo dozen. I had tried the Portland cream one and another that I forgot what it was, but I wasn't too impressed with them. Tasted like any other place? Nothing really stood out really. I do want to go back to try the apple fritter though lol

Had the "dirt" doughnut which was the Oreo one. Toppings a little dry and doughnut had a good texture. Would have been amazing if it was stuffed

Portland crème and Maple bacon update: I went back and forth on my ratings for these two between Voodoo and Do rite and as much as it pains me to say it, Voodoo wins on fluffy moist texture and outsize portions and flavor. Still love do rite but if I'm in Fulton's market area Voodoo wins.

Some of the best donuts I've had! They are not overly sweet and super delicious! Definitely coming back for these donuts the next time im around!

The doughnuts were good! Definitely dense. Some fun shapes and flavors as well as some that could be offensive. So definitely get the phallic one for someone with (or without) a sense of humor. Service was fast and friendly. The decor was bright and clean. Not sure if I would wait in line for them though. But if you're nearby and don't see a wait definitely drop in to try them!
