Voodoo Doughnut

I had always thought this Oregon based chain was a bit gimmicky. I was wrong! Great doughnuts... we tried both yeast and cake based. Chef's kiss! Fresh, all made on site, and delicious. Glad they've made their way down to San Antonio 👍 Highly recommend... cheers!

Love this place. Get your own pink box! Nariah provided great information and the best service. Our first visit ever, she answered all of questions, made good recommendations, and we never felt rushed. Unique and delicious doughnuts, you'll want to try then all! We enjoyed something to do with Elvis, Voodoo, Mango, and a traditional cinnamon cake doughnut too. All delicious. Cute atmosphere, fabulous doughnuts and great service. We'll be back next time.

OK, let me start by letting you know that I have a bias. I do not like the name of this store. Mainly because I'm a Christian and the word voodoo is not one that I would attribute anything good with.. now that I got that out of the way let me tell you that I decided to be open-minded and try the place in spite of the name. The donuts were delicious. I bought several and they all were so good. The person who was the cashier was fantastic. So for the donuts and the service I give them a 10 out of 10.

If your looking for a variety flavor of donuts, stop by Voodoo's. Especially if you have a sweet-tooth. They even offer vegan donuts. They also offer donuts with bacon and maple syrup flavor icing. Service was great, in and out in less than 5 minutes. They are currently doing surveys where upon completion, you get a fresh glazed donuts..

Loved this doughnut shop. They have a large variety and something for everyone. Highly recommend stopping by for a quick breakfast or even a late night snack. Our hotel was close by so we visited several times during our trip.

Stopped in on the way back to our hotel. Grabbed 3 donuts for my kids. One cream filled. One chocolate frosting and one with sprinkles. They do have a military discount which helps. Those three donuts cost about $8. The kids said they were good.

What a fun bakery. A little naughty, a little nice, all sweet. Exciting choices and very tasty dessert or treat. However, the price is unfairly high. Certainly not a weekly trip, but nice for the occasional trip.

First time customer had plenty of people tell me to try voodoo donuts, my family and I were walking by went in and it seemed fun and nice and the food looked very good. Service was a little rushed not quite as friendly as you would want but my main issue is when we got the donuts home some had not been cooked all the way. Actually made me a little sick from the raw dough on the inside of it. Needless to say I was disappointed.

I had some time before the opera and noticed that this was nearby and had to check it out. It was a nice walk from the opera and the outside of the building with their signs just brings the customers in. I was glad that there was not a long wait and the small dinning area was perfect to enjoy my snack and coffee before the show. I had no idea how many unique doughnuts they had with such creative names. Definitely a place I need to return to in order to fully appreciate the full array of delicious doughnuts they have.

The good - colorful & creative concepts, lots of options, large size donuts The not so good - donuts tasted stale, filling not well distributed, focus seemed to be on size at the expense of flavor. And c'mon, if you're gonna use ODB's name on a donut, it better look and taste dope enough to make me go Shimmy Shimmy Ya... but this was definitely not that.

Stopped by Voodoo Doughnut while exploring downtown and it was the perfect little treat break. The donuts here are so fun and colorful -- definitely super appealing to kids (and adults who are still kids at heart!). I went for the classic chocolate old fashioned and it was exactly what I hoped for -- simple and delicious.

Finally made it to the famous doughnut shop! Hard to choose which one....... Also love the coffee mugs

We were staying around the corner from this place for the weekend so on Sunday morning I walked over for some doughnuts and iced coffee for breakfast for me and my husband. The ambiance is fun with plenty of pink. They also have all of the doughnuts on display in two rotating cases, making it easy to see what each doughnut looks like before you order. Service was friendly and quick. I ordered the pumpkin buttermilk bar, the banana cream pie, the buttermilk bar, the maple bar, the maple old fashioned and the cinnamon sugar cake. My favorite was the maple old fashioned. They also gave me a complimentary glazed doughnut because it was my first visit. A nice touch.

Very large location with a number of unique fun flavors of donuts. It's definitely an Instagram type of spot with all pink decor and the donuts are all nicely decorated. There are big windows to watch them in the kitchen making and decorating the donuts. The display case also has rotating displays of the different flavors so you know what you're ordering. The counter service is quick and not a long wait even with a line. Cups of water are not available for free, you will need to pay even for the tap.

Such a fun place! The vibe is great, neat atmosphere, and funny donut flavors. The line was long but it went fast. We ordered the butter fingering, banana creme pie, captain crunch, a maple cream, and a cannolo. All were sweet but good. The maple cream was my favorite along with the butterfingering which is a cake donut. The cereal gets stale/mushy the next day so eat those while they are fresh!l and crunchy.

Once again Voodoo Donut kept up to their expectations. They do not disappoint. It's been a while since I've been, it was good to get a chance to come back by. Micah helped me this time. I saw the maple blazer & that's what I went in for, ended up with a few others. The staff is what keeps me happy, of course the donuts keep me coming back.

I love a good Voodoo Doughnut! I was happy to know that my moving to San Antonio would not mean forgoing Voodoo. Although I can't go as often as I would like to, the times I do are magical. This location is large and spacious, allowing for lots of indoor seating. Service has always been friendly and helpful. My favorite is the Mango Tango. Is phenomenal. Honestly, the mango filling is just amazing and unmatched by anything else. If they have it, get it!

We went here at the kid's insistence for breakfast. I know, sugar rush for breakfast is not the best idea. But she insisted so we went. Her donut was "incredible," some kind of chocolate sugar bomb. I had an apple fritter that to me did not have many apples and seemed dry. The other thing I got, forgot the name, was like a peanut and butter sandwich. It was good but really filling. I should not have gotten both a fritter and the peanut butter donut. Service was friendly and fast. No line when we went. Ambience was fine. The kid was happy so we were happy. And know I can say we went to the famous Voodoo Donut place.

My review is for an 11 AM visit on a Thursday. This Voodoo Doughnut location was pretty, but the metal music wasn't my thing that morning. The female cashier was slow and didn't have plastic bags (so I had to use a plastic bag from my luggage), but I got a couple of bacon maple donuts to eat on my flight and bring home for my father. They were good.

Loved it. Got the old dirty bastard and the cock and balls. I was a bit worried that the latter wouldn't be fresh but it was. It's packed solid with cream (bavarian), both the balls and shaft area, and they can write whatever you want for just a buck more. It's got good heft too. You'll probably want to grab the balls with both hands and go slow. It's ok to use your teeth this time. The dirty old bastard just looked good. And it was darn tasty. Staff was nice. Not crowded on a Monday morning in a June.

These doughnuts are yummy! I've always wanted to try this place out since I saw a travel show about the original location in Oregon. The atmosphere is really cool in the shop and they have so many different types of doughnuts available. They are a little more expensive than a typical doughnut shop but these are pretty large and the ingredients are high quality. We ordered a banana cream and an Oreo chocolate doughnut. The cashier told us to get the app and sign in so we could get a free doughnut. So cool of her...thanks! Both doughnuts were excellent, but they are so sweet that I can't imagine eating a whole doughnut myself. The banana cream tasted like pudding but with fried dough. Yum! The Oreo one had a chocolatey taste with crunchy cookies on top. Both were very different but equally delicious. Can't wait to stop again.

National chain; however, excited to have this right in front of my hotel during my stay in San Antonio. The staff was friendly, location was prime for indoor and outdoor seating, and the donuts/coffee did not disappoint. Highly recommended.

A neat place for a sweet treat! I'm not normally a donut person but what I've tried from Voodoo has been pretty good! The service is quick and easy despite the long lines that have been present in both of my visits, the merch is cute and funky, and the shop itself is a total vibe. I didn't think crystal chandeliers, hot pink, and a giant taxidermy longhorn could work together in the slightest but for Voodoo's aesthetic, it does. Even the bathroom, which was in decent but not the cleanest condition this last visit, goes hard with Pepto Bismol pink wallpaper bedecked with the wackiest assortment of donuts you would not normally imagine. Shop aside, Voodoo's donuts aren't all that greasy which means that those with sensitive stomachs, myself included, won't have to suffer after eating said donuts. They have a pretty decent sized vegan menu to choose from and they taste really good. This last time I ordered the Apple Fritter and it was MASSIVE. I ended up splitting it with someone who doesn't eat vegan and they really liked it too! It was very sweet, the dough was soft, and there were actual pieces of apple in the Fritter which I enjoyed immensely. If I'm in the area I'll probably stop by to try more of their vegan treats. Everything I've tried so far has been fun, so I'm looking forward to seeing what's next!

So many donuts to choose from! I had their blueberry donut and it was crispy on the outside and soft inside. Their donuts are huge and are perfect for sharing.

In case you've been living under a rock. Not to offend rock dwellers, my favorite star fish lives under one. Voodoo offers a variety of spooky doughnut options for the hungry and twisted of souls. I love this place. Though it can be hard to decide which one is the one for you. Stopped in this fine Halloween, rain, chilly weather (for Texas standards). This cold brew is smooth and delightful. Patio was junk free and smell free. It's downtown, iykyk. Service was cheeky and delightful. All in all, compared to the other 4 Voodoos I've been to in other states, this is a great one. Thanks voodoo San Antonio!

Unfortunately, it looks like the restroom has not been cleaned very long time. There's no soap in the bathroom.

Great little stop, we waited in line for 5-10 mins and ordered easily. Just fancy donuts a little overpriced but fun for the experience. Good tasting and a cute aesthetic place to visit. Donuts were big and we've always wanted to try this place out! We visited on a Sunday and earlier in the day we saw the line out the door. We came back later and it was only 2-3 people long.

A really cool place for that sweet holed favorite. The humor displayed in the doughnuts is awesome. But not only is the vibe cool but the doughnuts are fresh, soft and sweet. I would recommend if you find yourself standing next to one or start feeling a pain in your belly you stop by the voodoo doughnut, to ease the stabbing feeling.

Love the ambience my first one I ever visit was in Portland Oregon with my dear friend who's passed away Gloria we had so much fun every time I go into this establishment or any of them I think of her and the fun times we had! I miss her so much

I love the atmosphere and vibes of the place, but the donuts just did not taste fresh. We got the Voodoo Dozen which is 13 donuts for around $30. They all look really cute, but just didn't live up the the hype I guess. For the price and the popularity I expected them to taste a lot better.

When ever I'm in the area I always stop in for a vegan donut. I love that they have a good selection of vegan options to choose from. I adore that they're open late! The location is in a very walkable area to the river walk. This is a great stop to make when showing your friends around SA

Go to say yo went. If you like cake donuts, you'll find plenty here. The staff was silently apathetic - not a word spoken. Maple Bacon bar: 5/5 stars Apple fritter: 2/5 Old fashioned: 2/5 Not nearly worth the hype.

If you're staying in downtown San Antonio, this is a great place to get a doughnut. The wait can be a bit long, but staff is friendly. Lots of doughnut varieties to choose from! They always have a giving doughnut that gives proceeds to a given cause. We chose the apple fritter and the churro and both were delicious! Coffee was OK but nothing special.

Many people have celebrities they "know of", but have never met. The ones you see online all the time, performing at awards shows or being discussed on a recent podcast. You know their birthday, birth place, who they're dating, maybe even their cocktail of choice. But have you ever seen them in real life? Shook their hand? Gave them a side hug while taking a selfie? Nope. And in the foodie world this is also true of restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, wineries, breweries, and more. We follow them on social media, know their Michelin Star rating, who their new sous chef is. But we have never set foot even near their entry way. Such is the story with me and Voodoo, until recently. I love pastries, with muffins and doughnuts constantly competing for the top spot in my foodie heart. But often doughnuts win out because of 1) their high level of availability and 2) their many, many options. Cake, glazed, seasonal, creme filled. Have you ever walked into a doughnut shop when they first open? The ovens are still warm, the display case glass is steamed up, the aroma is from a time and place only accurately described in some foodie fantasy novel written by a James Beard award winning chef while residing in the depths of a ancient wine cellar for 38 days and nights. And this, all this brings me to my first fateful visit to Voodoo. A short visit to San Antonio and quick search on Yelp had made this life changing experience possible. I was staying but a few blocks from the brown and pink many already know well. I was grateful that day for the line as I needed time to select what I could only hope would be the "perfect first" doughnuts. Banana cream pie was definite. Then I saw the pumpkin pie cake doughnut. Now I'm not a big fan of cake doughnuts (just being honest), but if anyone could change my mindset on this subset it would be Voodoo. Having already consumed two cups of coffee and a homemade pop tart, I had to stop at two. (Listen, this wasn't the most prepared foodie journey I've ever had, but at least I made it there.) Within a few minutes I had ordered, paid, and sat down (to take photos then eat). I'm not sure which took less time. I ate the pumpkin first, thinking the sweetness of the banana cream might overpower it. That doughnut was somehow a mix of air, dough, pumpkin, sugar, and your 8th grade kiss at the Spring Formal all warped into one. Seconds later, the banana cream followed suit. My only regret? Not buying more and not returning. But mark my words, I will be searching for another in the months ahead.

I love getting a special treat from here. I really love their raspberry filling. If a donut shop can get that filling to taste right it's heaven. I also enjoy the different shapes and themes of the donuts. The mango one is actually surprisingly delicious as well. All of their fillings are really good. The donuts are a good large size. It takes me about three sittings to eat one. I will divide it up before I dive in. One of my favorite places for sure.

This place is always a little difficult to get to since the parking around it is atrocious but once you get your hands on that raised glazed, it's over! Super delicious. The service is chill, everyone's always relaxed there and laid back, not like some places (Dutch bros) lol. But anyways, the prices for everything is a little more expensive than your regular place, but hey, it's funky and different and good! I gave it four stars this time due to the parking always being really bad.

These donuts are gigantic!!! I did eat one all on my own and I don't regret a thing... I'll do it again. Made fresh daily and throughout the day. These donuts are soft, fluffy and delicious. Went tonight around 9pm and little to no line, customer service is amazing. You can tell the workers enjoy being there. The inside of the building is really nice.

Have you been here several times? I'm never disappointed. My favorites are the mango tango and maple bacon. Highly recommend this doughnut shop. All good things come in pink boxes.

Been waiting to try this place since we moved to Texas. I think I was overly hyped - this location is found down in Riverwalk area. Obviously very busy- they stay open until 3 am on Friday and Saturday for the drunks after the bar closes (smart business!) . The decor is awesome - the customer service was alright... I guess I expected a little more "uniform" appearance from a place so very well known- like a tshirt that says VOODOO or something but the crew were all in laid back street clothes. The Operations Manager in me says " EYE OF THE CUSTOMER WOULD NOT BE IMPRESSED" - nothing wrong with having crew be a little more put together. The gentleman we got was just basically there to ring us up - no interaction or greeting. We ordered 4 different donuts. I myself got a Maple Bacon bar and Apple Fritter. My daughter got a Maple bar and The Homer - I got a bottled water she got a coke. We sat outside to enjoy the cool breeze and people watch. It was about 10 pm so the streets were starting to fill up. I have seriously been so excited to try these donuts- haven't found a Maple donut that even compares to back home in Boonville California at the Redwood Drive In- and I was just let down :( the donut was obviously not fresh. But... it was 10pm.. it felt like it had been made yesterday or early that morning. So I decided to try the Apple Fritter - it was better - sweet apple taste with little chunks of apple and great cinnamon taste. My daughter enjoyed her Maple Bar but she realized she didn't get the one with the cream so that was on her. As soon as we had sat down they got slammed - so people obviously enjoy them or maybe hear all the hype and want them. I will try again in the early AM. But.. I realized this is not an easy location to get to for a GRAB AND GO.. it's literally in the very busy part of Riverwalk area and no parking spots - if the location was near more parking AM GRAB AND GO would be much easier. Overall - for 24$ I'm not that impressed.

Very good donut shop. We all got donuts there on three days of our stay in San Antonio. Yeah, we liked them!!!!! What's funny is we got fresher donuts late at night then during the day. I had the old fashion chocolate and the chocolate ring. Great chocolate flavor. Our group tried the old fashion maple, and the Portland creme. All of them were good. Really, you can't go wrong with any of them! I can't even remember the names of the other ones! They sell some cool coffee cups and shirts.

First time and stopped in to see what all the hoopla was about. They had some unique donut names but nothing spectacular. The donuts were not fresh, they had been sitting and had started to harden a bit. They are pricey, we spent 21.00 for 4 donuts and 2 waters. I could have gotten triple that at one of the Mexican bakeries. It's downtown so I saw lots of tourist coming in. Locals I don't think would be coming here. I wouldn't go back. Too many other options that are fresher and cheaper in this city.

Doughnuts that are overloaded with flavor and sugar and (in most cases!) everything but the kitchen sink! Plenty of seating inside and outside but you don't sit down for long as the doughnuts are so delicious- they are finished before you can blink. Definitely a special treat kind of place. If they had a coffee bar / barista serving nothing but expresso - then I would be back every weekend

Voodoo is always a fun experience, and this was a good location made great by really friendly service. My friend and I went in to get doughnuts for her birthday breakfast. The woman working the register listened to what we liked, and when we were about to check out, she threw in an extra doughnut that she thought we'd like as a birthday present. All the doughnuts were, of course, delicious. My favorite is always the voodoo doll. It can't be beat!

They were aight. The donut itself, minus the topping, was a perfect donut. The toppings were fun though for the kids. Line was long and out the door, but moved rather quickly. I wouldn't have to go back, just more of a novelty place to say yup I went. The kids got a kick out of the cock and balls donut... that we found out was cream filled when we got home (insert eye roll lol). This used to be a bomb pizza place, I wish I could remember what it was called... located in the heart of downtown, so there were a lot of homeless people in and out.

We received a special treat for our birthday boy at this location, and it made his day even better! Lol... He originally had his eye on the largest doughnut he could find, which happened to be a giant penis shaped one, but settled for an apple fritter (the second largest doughnut type in the display) after a little dad guidance. After the kids picked their treats and sat down, I asked the man at the register if they did anything special for birthdays. While he said it wasn't standard, he went above and beyond to surprise my son with a birthday hookup. We chatted briefly about how this is the second year in a row my son has chosen this VooDoo Doughnuts location for his birthday celebration. He absolutely loves coming here, and to top it all off, he won a hat outside at the spin-the-wheel game! Thank you so much for making his day extra special--your kindness and generosity didn't go unnoticed! PS: His friends thought it was hilarious and the doughnuts never disappoint!! Absolutely delicious!!

Absolutely, unequivocally the best doughnut I've have in my life, without exaggerating. I tried the banana cream pie doughnut while feeling adventurous, and I tell you, I was out of this world. The service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was just perfect for a break while touring the city of San Antonio.

Voodoo Doughnut never misses! Staff is always helpful with recommendations and service. The raised glaze is a classic--light, fluffy, and perfectly sweet. The Raspberry Romeo is another must-try with that perfect balance of tart and sweet. The vibe in the shop is fun and quirky, and I love the merch they offer--definitely adds to the experience. Coffee menu is simple, which I actually appreciate when grabbing something quick with my doughnut fix. Always a solid stop!

BIG SHOUT OUT BRANDON!!!! We came on a Saturday night and the foot traffic was steady but not too busy. We had questions and thankfully my man Brandon had answers!! He helped us make our selections and turned regular visit to a doughnut shop into an experience! Our doughnuts were good. The kids loved their selections. Look forward to coming back next time we're in the area!

One of my favorite donut places! My donuts yesterday though were not fresh my grape ape was dried out and not as tasty as they should be for the price! A little disappointed especially since I took 2 newbies to the donuts. Love the vibe in here but again, need donuts to be fresh. Service was okay, nothing special but the line wasn't too long and moved swiftly.

So much to choose from and they are all wild. Take your time and bring a friend because you are going to want to try multiple but your tummy will really only hold 2. Grab what looks good and split them so you get to try as many crazy combos as possible.
