The Vancouver location of Voodoo Doughnut is by far the nicest of all of their four locations I've visited. It is big, bright, colorful, well-lit, and doesn't feel like a typical Voodoo location, which some may find disappointing, but I'm fine with it.
I went on the day of their grand opening, and waited in line for approximately 40 minutes to get my doughnuts. Most of this was wasn't because the employees were slow or too few in number, most of the customers ahead of me seemed to be ordering enough doughnuts to feed an army (several customers were walking away with two, three, four or more full boxes).
Voodoo's doughnuts are generally HUGE, and as I've said before, the plain "raised, glazed" doughnut is what I use as an acid test for any doughnut purveyor. Voodoo is hands-down the best I've had! The complexity of flavor is deep, and Voodoo's doughnuts do not taste like they were made from a bag of vendor-supplied doughnut mix like many, if not most, donut shops use. All of the doughnuts I ordered were outstanding, a particular standout being the blueberry cake variety.
The only reason for four stars instead of five were a couple of the employees touching and adjusting their face masks with their gloved hands, and then grabbing donuts with those same gloves. Most at least grabbed tissue to then grab the doughnuts, or put on a fresh pair, but better attention to health and safety practices is needed.
