Google
I will confess I am not a vegan but I am trying to reduce my meat consumption and finding this place was a game changer for me. Their shrimp tastes just like actual shrimp and the Who Dat Mac and cheese is freaking fantastic. actually better than 99% of non-vegan Mac and cheese out there. Can’t forget to order Mimi’s Crab Cakes, delicious. Flavorful food and the staff is super nice.

Google
Finding authentic Creole/Cajun food veganized was very difficult! And she's closeby! I love the owner; she was very clear on what she uses! And even asking if was allergic to anything. She gave me generous free samples of her mac & cheeze, and gumbo. I was hooked from that moment. Flavorful, spicy, and cooked with attention & love. I like going to pick up with ease. She recognizes me lol when I order now. I get something different every time. I love a place with variety! She has specials and you can customize your order! The brunch options, "krab" boil, and my favorite with the loaded mac with fried scrimp. Amazing gem!

Yelp
The food is amazing! You don't have to be vegan to enjoy Voodoo Vegan! The Chef is great she knows what she's doing! I had a few things but I remember the best mac and cheese cause I never been into Mac til having this dish! You won't regret stopping and getting yourself something to eat here! 10/10

Yelp
They had the best faux catfish basket! They made those oyster mushrooms taste just like catfish with perfect breading too!! I liked the food so much, I would eat here everyday if I could...

Yelp
I enjoyed a delicious plant based taco Tuesday with this business. 10/10 recommend and will definitely come again.

Yelp
This truck is VOODOO alright! I've eaten here a few times and it is always amazing. The problem is that I can't try new things because I'm hooked on the po' boy sandwich and the Mac. Even took some to go for my friend and she loved it! Make sure to follow them on IG for events and notifications of sellouts. I've had issues with their kiosk being glitchy but a staff member has always been nice enough to help. There was some confusion with my food going to someone else but they fixed the issue promptly. I absolutely love the food from this truck and look forward to grabbing something from them the next time I'm at Vegan Exchange in NOHO!

Yelp
My friend and I tried this truck at SoCal VegFest 2023, which was a couple months ago now, and I'm still thinking about their Who Dat?! Mac. This was the one item at the whole event that both of us gravitated to, and our gut didn't lead us astray. You don't miss anything with this vegan mac. It is packed with amazing Cajun flavor, savory cheesiness, and satisfying crunch. We added all the protein and toppings, and honestly, that was probably the most convincing vegan shrimp I've had. Also the girls staffing the truck were the sweetest. Would be a regular if only I lived closer!

Yelp
1st off all of the food was cooked to order so everything was fresh! It was my 1st time here so I didn't know how to order or pay, the owner came to the window with a beautiful smile and great attitude and showed me how to scan the QR code and place my order. The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful every bite was mind blowing. I couldn't believe how similar the mushroom tasted to seafood. The tartar sauce was for sure the star of the show it complimented both the oyster mushroom and the fries perfectly. I can't wait for them to have outdoor seating because this was definitely a meal to sit and enjoy immediately

Yelp
Mmm mmm good! Found Voodoo Vegan on instagram and have been following them for a while. They recently posted photos of their hot honey oyster mushrooms so I had to try! Saw they'd be in Long Beach at the Trademark Brewing - a cool brewery with outdoor beer garden - so I took the trek to find them and I'm so glad I did! Tried the hot honey oyster mushrooms and the voodoo Mac and cheese. Hunni, let me tell you, both were slammin! H the ode hot honey oyster mushrooms were freakin delicious! Fried to perfection and glazed with the hot honey which was both sweet and spicy... yes please! And the Mac was delicious... only wish the portion was a lil larger. The prices were kind of high but probably on par with most food trucks - not exactly sure. We paid about $42 for the oyster mushrooms and the Mac but it was worth it! Food took about 15 mins and the staff and owner was extremely nice! Welcoming, friendly and flexible with the menu. I'll be catching them again soon and I think you should too! You've gotta try these hot honeys!!! Thank me later!

Yelp
Voodoo Vegan is absolutely amazingly delicious !!!!! The food is stellar. I have always been hesitant with vegan food thinking that it isn't "real food" but once I found Voodoo Vegan, I can't stop recommending this place to all my friends. Their menu is extensive and full of choices that will suit any palate. The food is flavorful and makes me come back time and timeThe variety of selections makes it hard for me to decide what to get. I want it ALL!!! Voodoo Vegan is the absolute bomb!

Yelp
Voodoo Vegan has been on my list of places to try for a WHILE so when I saw they'd be at Vegan Playground on a night I had free, I got dressed and headed out! And I really want to give them 5 stars, but based on this first experience, I cannot. Let's start with the good: They are clearly popular as I arrived not even an hour into the event and they had the longest line... but not the longest wait which I loved! Ordering was easy and the staff was friendly. THE SHRIMP PO'BOY IS DELICIOUS, YALL!!!! I love po'boys and every vegan one I've had up until now has let me down. The bread is incredible, the inside is flavorful, and the portion is generous. Loved it. Now for the not-so-good: The main reason I wanted to try this spot was for their vegan mac 'n cheese. I didn't enjoy this one. I think there's a difference between heat and flavor. This mac had heat but not a lot of flavor and definitely not a lot of cheese vibes going on. This was very disappointing. Also, I understand inflation is wrecking all of us right now, but these prices felt a bit steep! I'm the first one to step up to support a black owned business, it was just a bit much tn, regarding the cost. Overall: I will be back to try other things... maybe one thing at a time at these prices.

Yelp
Shady business practices! I went with my partner and a couple friends to the Vegan Exchange in North Hollywood. We had to order our food on a tablet in front of the truck (probably so it's easier for them to pull a quick one on people and hide in the kitchen). We ordered the "Seafood Platter" for $13. The tablet then prompted us with a REQUIREMENT to add an extra $5 to our "Seafood Platter" for shrimp. When we got our order, it was just fries, a slice of bread, coleslaw, and four shrimp. This is not a Seafood Platter. Was the $13 just for fries, coleslaw, and bread? When I brought this concern up to the lady at the pickup window, I was greeted with immediate hostility and defensiveness, so I'm sure this is not their first time having a customer call them out on their unethical business practices. In hindsight, I believe my $1 tip was overly generous. We will not be coming back, and I plan to contact the coordinator of the Vegan Exchange event regarding this incident.

Yelp
I gotta be honest, I was SO excited to try this and was SO let down.. I tried the Voodoo Vegan food truck at Vegan Playground in West Adams. I got there as soon as they opened and was 4th in line. I ordered the vegan seafood gumbo which cost $25 and the voodoo fries for another $15. After spending $50 (with tax and tip) on just two items, I was expecting something amazing or at least certainly worth the cost. FIRST, it took 35 minutes to come out which is absolutely absurd for a food truck. SECOND, the gumbo was no more than 6oz of soup. It looked like an 8oz container that was very less than full. $25 for a couple spoons of gumbo was disappointing. The fries were fine, but really just fine, nothing special especially for being their special fries. Overall, neither were very flavorful. Super disappointing to spend $50 and wait 35 minutes for just "ok" food.

Yelp
The famous donut shop we stoped just for one and left with a dozen never experienced a donut so delicious.

Yelp
I got the Sunday Brunch plate, it was Amazing...Oyster Mushroom, Grits and 2 Hunny Biscuits..One of my new favorite Vegan spots in LA..Don't let me get started on these Hunnyy Biscuits I need a dozen lol..

Yelp
Great food and service! New Orleans ambiance and the chef is phenomenal! I eat here multiple times a week!

Yelp
They know they're stealing from their customers with their false advertised food options. Sad cuz I was really looking forward to try this food vendor. Who sells a "seafood platter" that's $13 then MAKE (won't let you checkout otherwise) you pay and extra $5 for shrimp. When I got the "seafood platter" it was only fries a slice of bread and a tiny Kale salad plus the shrimp I was forced to pay extra for. It was over $20 What was the seafood platter, just fries? They should just call it for what it is $20 shrimp and fries. What a disappointment !! Needless to say I won't be buying anything from this vendor ever again.

Yelp
Very disappointed in @voodooveganfood we have tried two Sundays in a row only to find out each time they are waiting on the chef and who knows when the chef will arrive. It's one thing to serve a poor meal because you can make up for it the next time. But the one thing people can't get back is time. And when you make the time to go somewhere and they're not ready that's time they can't make up for.

Yelp
The food is soooooo good I ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture ! The oyster mushroom po boy and lasagna were delicious ! Will absolutely be back!!!

Yelp
Decent food, terrible business operations. Just the food itself would be 4 stars, but the operations detracted from the rating. We were the first ones there and ended up waiting 1.5 hours for our food. We checked in around the 1 hour mark to see what's going on and we were told that the food was be out "shortly." Twenty minutes after that, we were told that the bread for the poboys "never came," which would have been good to know when we checked in at the one hour mark. We were refunded for the poboy, but it felt like our order was being held hostage as they waited for their bread to come in, because folks that showed up after us got their food before us. This is extra concerning because this was during a day where they had a very limited menu selection. They could have just taken the poboy off the menu that day, when half of the menu was already not available. Instead, they made us wait for 80 minutes before telling us they didn't have the main ingredient for the biggest item of our order. I do think that the price is very fair, considering that vegan proteins are hard to source. The flavors are great and the business concept is lovely. The good: the mushroom tacos were fantastic. Extremely crispy and flavorful. The vegan shrimp tacos were also very flavorful, although our tortillas weren't warm. The less good: the vegan sausage taco, rice, and beans.

Yelp
Food texture- great. Taste: Very salty. VERY Although I can imagine the cost of creating such food is time consuming and costly, $$$ Portions to price are absolutely lacking Staff could benefit from business training and customer etiquette. Not at all great on that front. At all. The Mac n cheese in particular is heavily oily. Stomach churning almost. Cleaning from time to time would be awesome. New Fungus called Candida Aura floating around...got me shook. So let's work on cleaning your ordering kiosk, and the inside of your food truck for starters. 2.5 Stars go back to the novelty of having this type of food. Otherwise no special trips on behalf of VV. It's clearly got its Stans. Good for them. However, seeing my concerns echoed by previous visitors, but with no reply from the proprietor gives off the impression they are one of those "get popular via Instagram without truly understanding the fundamentals of good business at all" kinds of businesses.

Jas N.

Yelp
Purchased $15 worth of mac and cheese today and it was inedible. The description stated that it was shredded cheese baked to perfection. It was not. It was made with some sort of processed cheese product and not with a rue. When we asked to exchange it we were met with an attitude. Probably because they are disgracing the ancestors and theres no excuse for that. The mushroom poboy was great. But the energy and clear confusion on what mac and cheese is why yall shouldn't patronize this establishment. Pics dont match actual food.

Yelp
Randomly found this place after looking for vegan food but man lemme tell you...the best vegan food I have EVER had in my life, hands down. The Mac is bussin, the "shrimp" is phenomenal...the mushrooms are the best though, to be honest. Plus the people are really cool. If you want some vegan soul food packed with flavor...do yourself a favor and check them out. Food so good make you wanna slap your momma

Yelp
BOMB! ERRTHANG HAS FLAVA! The gumbo , red beans + rice, voodoo mac + the voodoo fries are my personal favorites! The po'boys are what I came for initially when I was first introduced to this place when I first went vegan. I was SO overwhelmed for that one item in the best way... oyster po'boys, scrimp (vegan ), sausage, Mimi's jackfruit cakes... delicious and customizable. I am still on a mission to try everything on the menu! And I love the fact that there is experimentation on the menu; (i.e. cheesecake, king cake, Creole , Creole pierogis ) Usually taking a crack at something new! The owner and her family are welcoming, dedicated and humorous! There is love, care, and attention in this eatery/food truck. They WORK HARD! I love them!

Jazi V.

Yelp
I really really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately that was so far from the case. The food is beyond overpriced for the portions you get. I know this has been voiced by numerous people and based off that alone I thought I would offer some feedback to them about it. Bad idea. Because not only did they not care, they were rude, defensive and unfriendly in their responses. But anyone with common sense can see it's ridiculous to pay $20 for a few pieces of shrimp, a piece of bread and a couple fries... like let's be serious. I won't even get into the wait times for the food on top of that. I won't be back and wouldn't recommend this place to any of my friends.

Yelp
I stopped at their food truck at the Sunday boho vegan festival... boy am I glad I did. This food right here was excitingly good. I had their plate that included sweet potatoes mash, macaroni and cheese, squash and I saved the best for last... the shrimp. That shrimp was so Slap your momma good I questioned if it wasnt real seafood. They mastered that taste and consistency..it was so good I had to have it after sampling it. The 2nd best thing I must mention is the hibiscus agave juice for $4. I woke up the next day thinking about that juice trying to figure out how they made it so I try to recreate it at home! I am trying to hunt down this truck tonight for taco Tuesday!

This is the place to be if you want soul food cooking with a blend of nutrition! This is my new favorite spot. Vegan Voodoo will get you hooked on the sauce! Thank you for being so damn good & tasty! -Kaya

Yelp
UPDATE: I received this message from the owner in regards to my review, which I only just discovered (didn't know you could DM people on Yelp). Speechless.

Yelp
This place met my expectations. Their food is as good as it looks. I've had Avocado Mama, Midwest Soulfood, Compton Vegan, the Veggie Grill, Doomies, Native Foods...and let me tell you, Voodoo Vegan without a doubt has the best vegan mac n cheese, easily. The shrimp was good, I wasn't crazy about the crab cakes. I enjoyed the cabbage and sweet potato hash but the mac is where it's at. And the chefs are fine AF
google avatar

Callie B.

Yelp
I ordered catering from Voodoo Vegan for a party of 20 people, only 4 of which were vegan or vegetarian. Everyone LOVED the food and had a hard time believing it was vegan. There was creaminess where there needed to be and crunch where there needed to be, somehow mixed with the perfect amount of spice. No wonder they call it voodoo, because there must be some magic in their food. Not to mention, Cheff Whitt was so sweet, she even sent along a birthday card and gift for my brother when I told her it was for his birthday.

Khia J.

Yelp
I tried this place at Vegandale on 10/28/23 and hands down, one of the WORST vegan dishes I have ever tried. For $21 you would think that they would at least season the oyster mushrooms and include fries or some sort of side. I feel really jipped. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Mushrooms were rubbery and no flavor when they fried them. Shame! Native foods "Po Boy" tastes much better. (I had the oyster mushroom po boy by the way).
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing vegan food truck. I'm not vegan... at all. But it surely gave me my fix. I ordered the vegan vodoo shrimp and it was banging. I like how you can order by using a kiosk. Additionally I was able to use Apple Pay although card and cash was both available. I can't wait to try other vegan menu items.
google avatar

Autumn N.

Yelp
Everything was fresh & tasted better then expected. The crab cakes were my favorite. I don't know how she got jackfruit to mimic crab cakes but she did it well. The Mac & cheese was really good. The shrimp was my 2nd favorite. The texture was exactly like shrimp, and tasted just like the real thing. I'll be back for more.

Yelp
Fresh and made to order. Definitely kicks those seafood craving that show up from time to time. Affordable prices and large portions.

Yelp
So first I wanna say there oyster mushroom po boy is great! Now let's talk about there Mac and cheese. I had the opportunity of trying their food out at the taste of soul Inglewood on Father's Day. I paid 15 for a cup of Mac and cheese which is high but I believe in black owned businesses, even left a tip! Now when I crack the lid to bite into this supposed cheesy goodness it was everything but! It was completely inedible to my adult tastebuds so instead of taking a loss I gave it to my 6 year old who loves pasta! Especially Mac and cheese. He was overjoyed until his first bite! Spit it out and handed it back. So I nicely went back to there truck after only 2 bites missing and asked if I can add the difference in cash to get another po boy instead, one of there workers said sure no problem. So I waisted in line to pay and that's when a rude young lady stepped forward to say she has no idea why they would say they would swap it out but this ain't McDonald's you can't just sample things and say you don't like it. Then asked if I think McDonald's wouldn't swamp something out, she proceeded to sing the McDonald's theme song but changed the words to "butta bup bup bup IM NOT LOVING IT" absolutely thrown off at the abrasive rudeness on a day supposed to be special to fathers I gave her her kudos on her poboy and said it's fine I wouldn't want to further patronize anywhere that would compare their home cooked food to a chain like McDonald's.

Yelp
I've been following Voo Doo Vegan food for a while. I haven't had the chance to try their food when they were at LBMeatLessmondays because there were other Vegan spots I wanted to try. When I was ready to order from them, we had the stay at home order called upon us... so I've been continuing to stalk them on Instagram until they delivered in LB when I'm there. Today was the day! I ordered through text. I ordered the Cheeseburger Po Boy combo, which came with regular fries, sweet tea, and a mini adult rice Krispy treat. I also ordered the Voodoo fries with sausage just because I love food and want to try everything lol. My girlfriend ordered the Shrimp po boy combo. It took a long time to receive my delivery order because they've been out and about all day delivering food. We weren't a fan of the sweet tea because it was way too sweet for us! The cheeseburger and the shrimp po boy were totally worth the wait! Wow my cheeseburger po boy tasted so good! It tasted like the real thing! I loved that it had a little spicy kick to it. The shrimp tasted like the real thing too including the texture and the flavor. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the shrimp po boy because my girlfriend devoured the whole thing. Lol. The veggies that were in the sandwich were nice and fresh. I love the sauce that was in the Voodoo fries. I'm not really a fan of beyond meat but I don't know how the seasoned the sausage but it didn't taste like beyond meat at all! The adult rice Krispy treats were delicious! Next time we will order more! Make sure to check their Instagram on where they'll be next and where they are delivering to. Can't wait to order them again. Totally worth the wait!

Yelp
We got the Voodoo Mac and cheese with fish and shrimp as our secondary option. It was delicious, fresh, and a good size proportion. Keep up the good food Voodoo Vegan!

Yelp
I was so disappointed with my experience here. I've been wanting to try this truck for a while but they're always located further away from me. I had the opportunity to try them during a vegan festival and this was the reason I came in the first place. The customer service was extremely poor. Not one person smiled, engaged in conversation, or spoke to the customers. Everyone had a stale (I don't want to be here) face. I got to the event and we were one of the first people in line and they were not up and running. The first person didn't place their order until 35 minutes after the event started. They didn't acknowledge anyone waiting in line or let us know they're running late. I ordered and walked around for about 20 minutes and came back to check on my order. I asked the young gentleman in the front if they called my number bc I walked away. He asked me what my name was and I told him and he said "no" and turned away and begin stocking the drinks. The customer service here was absolutely absurd. We got our food and we're both highly disappointed as we waited almost an hour for mediocre food that was very bland and felt rushed. I would have given this place another chance and ordered something different but I can't get past the customer service.

Cindy O.

Yelp
The burger I got was really good, the Mac n cheese had no flavor!!! not witty the price..

Yelp
The only reason that I'm giving them two stars is because the food was good but the service was atrocious. I ordered some sort of bowl that included mashed sweet potato, cabbage, macaroni and cheese and then a protein which was one crab cake from their truck during the Juneteenth festival. I received a text saying that it will be about a half an hour. About 28 minutes later I walked up to the truck to check the status of my order and was told my order was coming up and it would be three minutes. After about five minutes later, I walked up to the window to get my order and she told me that it's going to be about 5 to 8 minutes because the generator stopped working. So then I asked very nicely, without an attitude, "Are you sure that it's going to be 5 to 8 minutes?" I think that was a valid question because they initially said it would be be three minutes and now you're telling me it's five to eight minutes and also that the generator wasn't working. Then another woman (I don't know if it was the owner or manager) replied with a nasty attitude and said "What you need to understand is there are things that are going on that you're not aware of." Her attitude alone made me want to cancel my order. But I kindly responded that I understand that but you said that your generator isn't working so I just wanna make sure that I'm getting an accurate time frame. And she just responded "No it's working now and it'll be 3 to 8 minutes." .... again in a very nasty tone. I've never been so put off in my life; but I was hungry and my friend talked me down. So I walked around came back in about 10 minutes, just in case it wasn't ready and I walked up to the window to get my food, the girl at the window said nothing to me, handed me my food and that was it. Didn't speak a word, no apology for the delay, thank you....nothing just handed me my food with an attitude. Then I get my food and the crab cake that cost me $7 that was about two inches in diameter. The whole small bowl cost me about $35 with tip. I probably would've been okay with it being so small but the horrible customer service made me feel cheated. I will not patronize them again. I wish I had never tipped them. Stressful situations will arise but you should never take it out on your customers. Do better!!!

David H.

Yelp
Owner is defensive like the staff member I encountered at the festival. I can understand food taking time, a buggy order system, etc. but I think we missed the point here. The problem is rude and defensive customer service when an issue arises. The food taking 40 min is not the issue that brought me to Yelp. The order system texting me half a day later is a problem, but this did not bring me to Yelp. Your staff member's rude and accusatory response to us trying to figure out where our food was is why I wrote a Yelp review. Sh*t happens, but soft skills like customer service are really important. The owner's private message response and my proof of the bug in order/text system are attached (staff looked at me with disgust and dismissively told me I had entered the wrong number and that's why I was not texted - see proof of late text in attached photos). Once again, I get it is hard to run a small business during the pandemic and especially at a big food festival. If the text/order app worked, I would have had a better expectation of the wait time (again...sh*t happens, I get it). But then to have rude staff (and now owner) make me write a Yelp review when I otherwise would have chalked it up to supporting a small business that is figuring things out or who just a little tech issue (common for small and big businesses alike). Make excuses all you want, but other small businesses know how to treat customers when there is confusion or a problem. Small tech issues that affect a customer's experience doesn't have to turn into something unpleasant. Your staff member made it a confrontational experience and it soured everything.

Yelp
Had it today at a street fair. It was so good. I was left satisfied and not like I waisted money. Thank you voodoo vegan. Also they were kind and patient. Good presentation.

Yelp
This is the best Vegan soul food you will ever try! It's NOLO style and you can get anything from crab cakes, shrimp and grits, and a variety of Po Boy sandwiches! Whether you're vegan or not, you have to try this food! The seasoning is on point! The variety is great and they took vegan to a whole new level!! Right now they are usually at the Vegan Food Festival on Sunday in North Hollywood, but they also do pop ups and will cater your events! They also sell plates during the week! You're going to want to try this food, and if you're vegan you definitely won't regret it!!

Yelp
Voodoo Vegan is big on flavor explosions in your mouth! I've had their shrimp po boy and annihilated it after eating in my car. Not all Mac and cheese are created equal but when you make it vegan it can disappoint, but Voodoo Vegan's Mac and cheese can stand against any none vegan option any day!! Their hibiscus tea is life and their bread pudding is a nice way to finish your meal. I've had their gumbo and it's evident she knows how to take time with her roux because the flavors are all there. I am happy to support a Black Woman owned business that serves up delicious food, cares about their customers and is bringing it every time!

Yelp
Great quality food and service and the trade mark Louisiana style really is represented with a vegan twist.

Yelp
The mac & cheese here is to die for. I love their Poboy's and hibiscus tea! The staff are always super cool and helpful. I support any chance I get.

One of my favorite vegan popups! She definitely works some sort of vegan voodoo or magic or something with her food.

Yelp
If you are wondering if the food taste as good as it look in the pictures the answer is yes and Amen. Food taste like something you shouldn't be eating because you'll be addicted. Love it! I had the po boi and boy does it meet every expectation!

Yelp
This was THE BEST mac and cheese I have ever had. And my family knows how to throw down on some mac. My mouth is watering as I type this. It tastes baconie, smoked, cheesy, delicious. I hope they have a Thanksgiving special because I'll preorder a pan to take to my family.
