Stopped in for the first time this morning. If you want a donut, Vortex is THE best spot. It’s the freshest, most delicious donut I’ve ever had. There are a ton of options, almost all of them vegan including the cream-filled ones! The chocolate cream donut filling tasted like fresh cocoa and was just the right amount of sweet (not overly sweet like a Dunkin’ Donuts). The other donut pictured is the cream cheese raspberry cake donut (non-vegan) and my wife said it was amazing. And on top of being delicious, they were big! We took ours to go, but the inside it cute and they have a full coffee menu with espresso-based drinks, so it’d be a good spot to hang out. This place is a hidden gem on Banks Ave in South Slope.

Google
This place had me hyped! I think they “made daily” donut sign might be fibbing a little. We went on a Tuesday morning at 730am, and grabbed a chocolate, mango, salted caramel and a cherry with sprinkles. Only the salted caramel tasted like it was a fresh donut. The chocolate , mango and cherry had to have been made the day before…it was dense, cold and had no life to the dough. I could be wrong….but Hole donuts are still warm and delectable when you get them. Maybe we will try again this weekend for a filled donut(only do filled donuts on the weekend)

Google
The BEST doughnuts we have ever had!! I recommend the maple flaky sea salt. And the employees were all so sweet. We are from out of town and they gave us a bunch of good recommendations for other places to try.

Google
We make Vortex a frequent stop as the pups love the walk downtown and we love the donuts! Salted Caramel and apple fritters are our staples but we are often tempted by the rotating flavors Vortex has to offer. Matt is a kind and friendly presence who’s greeted and helped us the last several visits!

Truman Gerholdt

Google
One of the best donuts I’ve had. The old fashioned is literally a top tier donut. The salted caramel was also amazing. Lots of seating available. Parking out front too. Lots of coffee and other drinks available. Definitely add to the list if you are visiting or want to try a new donut.

I came here because it is highly recommended and it is all over the Internet for one of the must try places in Ashville. With high hope walking in, atmosphere is excellent. Good job with all the open space decorations and art works on the wall. Service from the barista and cashier is excellent. Which is what you expect from a local cafe. Problem is their donuts. Why is it chewy. Is it because it is old or is it because some abnormal ingredients they use. They are big though. Next time I just get coffee or drinks. It taste so much better in a tall glass. But their donuts, I don't know. I just stick with regular donut shops. This is kinda overrated

Google
Very friendly staff and tasty doughnuts. There isn't a huge selection of doughnuts but they are all freshly made on site. I would recommend the blackberry cream cheese cake doughnut. It was very good and I have never had a doughnut like it. The doughnuts are definitely more expensive then the grocerystore though so plan to spent around $3 per.

Google
Loved the vibe and outstanding counter service! I had a wonderful “Ginger Me Timbers” ginger coffee beverage that was heavenly! I also ordered 4 doughnuts that were good, but not excellent. I don’t know if it’s because I’m not used to vegan doughnuts, but I felt that some of the usual guilt was missing.

Yelp
DOUGHNUT WORRY, the line may be long but moves quickly at Vortex Doughnuts! But please be respectful and know what you want to order by the time you get to the register! They've got seasonal coffee and donuts - but I only had eyes for the iced NOLA on their regular menu - which was a sweet and creamy chicory coffee using 1000 Faces Coffee, which I had just recently discovered in Athens, GA recently. By the time we made it to the register at 11am, they were very limited on donut options. We tried the famous Holenut, the Vortex (cinnamon sugar chocolate), a classic chocolate sprinkle and cranberry donuts. Everything was delicious but I also wasn't sure it was worth standing in a line outside in the cold for. Next time, I'll be sure to arrive earlier to get their more popular donuts!!

Chloe F.

Yelp
Some of the best vegan donuts I've ever had and a huge selection. A little bit out of the way from the downtown area, but worth the walk. I think about these donuts even a year later!

Stephen V.

Yelp
Vegan option donuts, including specialities and filleds Can't go wrong with their vortex signature, wish they had some gluten free vegan options in the future

Eric R.

Yelp
Nice vibe inside and lots of seating outside at the picnic tables. I'm not a a GenZ person looking for donuts with feelings, vegan, gluten-free blah blah blah. I want a great tasting with all the extras (milk, gluten, Sugar) that make a real donut a real donut... not something in disguise to make me "feel" good. So obviously I got the non-vegan donuts. Pretty good, not like Hendough (off the charts amazing), but solid donuts and located near some great breweries which doesn't hurt.

Vincent L.

Yelp
Ample space for lines and a few places to sit. The big plus is the non-dairy options for my bro who's allergic. The staff was amazing! So helpful and informative. Plenty of amazing options (but not Too many to choose)

Alyssa A.

Yelp
We came to visit, and this was the one place we were told we had to stop at during our trip. The donuts are INCREDIBLE - some of the best I've ever had. I'm used to getting cake donuts, but we were told we had to try the yeast donuts. Loved the light, chewy texture. The cream cheese cherry was the big winner - perfect frosting to donut ratio with the perfect amount of sweet. Also loved the espresso donut. They make good coffee as well, and I enjoyed my chai tea latte. Staff are super pleasant, and I love the big, open vibes of the shop and how they incorporate local artists. One of the best donut shops I've ever been to.

Bryon M.

Yelp
Leave it to me to find a donut place. And like most I encounter, these did not disappoint. The flavors were offered in both yeast and cake. I went with the yeast apple fritter and cream cheese cherry donut. The apple fritter wasn't my favorite. It was soft, and not as fried as you would find with a typical fritter. And the apple taste was a little weird. Almost like they were fermented. The apple chunks were big, though. The cream cheese cherry donut with a basic donut with the icing. The cream cheese icing was really flavorful and sort of messy. You can tell the icing was fresh as it didn't solidify. It could have used more cherry, but I would get this flavor again. The gentleman who helped me behind the counter was pleasant. Greeted me right away with a smile on his face. Nothing fancy about the inside. Typical coffee place. So, yeah, I would try it again.

Sylvia T.

Yelp
I was visiting Greenville SC, and my daughter mentioned this place for donuts. So, I said I'm game, let's go. Once we got there we were bummed . They were completely sold out. Hence I don't have a review on them But when I do try them I will let you guys know. We did get some yummy coffees. They do have milk alternatives and the donuts are Vegan . The girls making the coffee were pretty friendly and they did feel bad for us. The place is cutesy and chill ambience. They have parking across the street too. So if your in the Asheville NC area. Come get some donuts, BUT call 1st to make sure they have them

Sara A.

Yelp
These are mediocre and expensive doughnuts. They are mostly vegan and are probably higher on the scale up against purely vegan doughnuts. There were a good amount of people there on a Sunday morning so some people like them. I've had stellar vegan baked goods before though so I know it's possible to be good enough to appeal to non-vegans, but these are the kind of doughnuts that you try and are like, oh yeah, definitely vegan. Do not recommend for people willing to eat non-vegan doughnuts. Also, they are very messy and sticky so not a good choice if you're trying to eat in your car (we picked them up on the way out of town).

Katie G.

Yelp
Had a great time this morning trying out the bakers dozen with my family! Personally, I prefer the yeast donuts, they were amazing! I really enjoyed the cream cheese one. The apple fritters are a must try as well. We all enjoyed our coffee too, the nola was my favorite.

Alexandra M.

Yelp
I was looking for vegan donuts in Asheville and yelp brought me to Vortex. It is an open air space that has high ceilings but still feels cozy. The young gentleman behind the counter was great and asked if we have been there before, giving us the run down. The donuts are divided by "decadent" like a cake texture or just doughy like a donut. I chose the classic doughy texture and then this was divided from vegan and nonvegan. I chose the raspberry donut which was nonvegan and a coffee donut that was vegan. For some reason they looked a lot smaller behind the glass because once they were put on a plate I was like whoa they are huge! I felt guilty having them both. The raspberry donut has the pink frosting blanketed with rainbow sprinkles and was really good. Sweet but not too artificially tasting. Actually tasted more like raspberry than the frosting. And the dough was light and airy just how I like it. The coffee donut one was pretty good too. I think the 2 downfalls of this visit was that were was not many vegan donut options left. We came later in the day so might have just gotten unlucky. And my friend ordered a rather small glass of milk for $3. For that price you can get half a gallon.

Misti M.

Yelp
So... I didn't even realize the donuts were vegan until I came onto yelp to leave a review and saw the others saying they were vegan. What a treat! There were so many options to choose from on a Friday morning, but we went with the Peach Molasses and a Salted Caramel. Both were winners. The space itself was nice - plenty of seating and there was a great art selection to look through on the walls. All that, and a friendly staff -- that gets 5 stars in my book!

Christian C.

Yelp
Friendly spot in downtown Asheville. I got the vortex cake donut and the espresso yeast donut. The cake donut was a bit denser than I would have liked but the yeast donut had a nice chewiness to it.

Jill H.

Yelp
Delicious donuts! Cute shop. Quick & easy stop this morning for a selection of donuts to go. I like that they offer flavors on cake or yeast, depending on your preference. I haven't seen that before. The donut flavors change weekly. The blueberry lavender w/ almond was amazing- the glaze was heavenly. Just the right touch of lavender- not overpowering. I recommend getting the almond option for an extra bit of crunch. The espresso cake donut tasted terrific, too. The espresso came though well. My donut-eating companions loved their choices. Recommend for those needing a donut fix, especially if you prefer donuts with creative flavor twists.

Vicki M.

Yelp
Vortex Doughnuts was voted #2 best doughnut in the 'Best of WNC X Awards' booklet so we had to give it a try We went on a drizzly Saturday morning there was no line when we arrived but it got consistently longer during our visit. We got the pistachio cream cheese honey and Espresso doughnuts and 2 drip coffees, with tip it was $15. They have 2 types of doughnuts cake and raised. Our doughnuts were good but the pistachio and espresso flavors were very weak. The restaurant is very clean. There is street parking in the area and Vortex is within walking distance of downtown.

Amy A.

Yelp
Delicious - good cappuccino and excellent yeast donuts fresh from the oven. The raspberry was super flavorful and our favorite.

Karolina K.

Yelp
Oh my, these were probably the best vegan donuts I had so far. Went there while visiting Asheville last week. It was around 12:30pm but they still had a pretty good selection. I was so excited! Almost all of them are vegan, except the ones with a note "NV" and they had two sections, one for yeast donuts and one for cake. I'm definetly a yeast donut person, so got 3 flavors and one cake donut just to see how they are. Cake one good but I had better vegan cake donuts, but the yeast ones were amazing! Very fluffy and moist. Not to sweet either. Just the right amount of sweetness. Unfortunately, they were already out of the apple fritter which I really wanted to try. Never had a vegan apple fritter. One star less due to the service, the girl working there was a little unfriendly and seemed bored.

Yelp
Believe it or not, I have been coming here since 2014 when they opened! What I love is that the quality of this place hasn't changed a bit. Vortex doughnuts is a cosmic wormhole of deliciousness that if you're lucky enough to stumble upon you will find yourself returning to again & again. Their doughnuts are made fresh daily using locally sourced ingredients and come in three varieties: cake, yeast, and gluten free. Get here early for the best selection and plan on getting your caffeine fix here too because they have great baristas! They have inside and outside dining so you can stick around and enjoy the cute decor or you can grab them to go. I usually order more than what I'm eating that morning and enjoy them throughout the day and into the next day - but they're definitely best fresh. Personally my favorite are the cake doughnuts. They're light and fluffy with a cake consistency that has the old fashioned doughnut vibe. Their espresso flavor has been a go-to for me for years now and they use locally roasted beans. If you see a funky flavor on the line-up, get it because you won't regret it! This last time we ordered the sweet potato curry with green curry coconut and lime and it was outrageously good! I also love just a plain old fashioned if I'm not wanting something overly sweet. They used to have a flavor that had local beer and pretzels and something else that I can't remember but it was delicious! If you're in the area 100% doughnut miss this local gem!

J S.

Yelp
The coffee was okay and the donuts were also just okay. Our friend was raving about this place, eager to lead us to it on vacation day #2. As a donut lover I was let down and didn't finish either of my choices, with help. My partner and I shared three, actually, and didn't get the hype at all. This was just after 10:30am so everything was pretty fresh, too. Sweet location, clean and friendly, and the donuts LOOK good. Seating wasn't crowded but I can't stand a solo lap-topper that feels the need to occupy a four-top during regular/busy hours. There should be rules against this because my party had to split and perch on stools. Yeast and cake donuts, that's cool, but the flavors were very mild. Chocolate cake donut was crunchy around the edges and had a bitter chocolate profile, didn't have that sweet romantic chocolate thing I was hoping for but the texture was nice. Cinnamon Apple fritter yeast donut was dry but better than the other. I enjoyed the large apple chunks and soft interior. Vortex yeast donut was meh. They were each a bit messy and kinda sour if I'm being honest ( and I don't mean that in a bad way, just not sweet for donuts). If this place is your jam then power to you! If you've got a sweet tooth for donuts then I've said my peace.

Emily M.

Yelp
I got one cake doughnut and one yeast doughnut, both vegan. The cake doughnut was delicious, 8/10, but the yeast doughnut was out of this world, 11/10!! AMAZING flavor and texture. I will be dreaming of these doughnuts !! Also staff were really nice.

Hannah H.

Yelp
This is one of the original well known donut spots in Asheville. Their flavors are really unique and super sweet! They have a fix of yeast and cake donuts but they are super expensive. A dozen donuts can run you close to $40-50 depending on the flavors. Lots of their popular flavors are really sweet so I usually go for the berry (pictured here with purple frosting). They do have gluten free options which is a nice alternative!

Olga A.

Yelp
The yeast donuts were amazing!!! We tried the cream cheese donut, salted caramel, chocolate frosted, glazed, espresso and the vortex donut. The espresso had to be our favorite!

John B.

Yelp
When I dropped by, they had an appealing menu of doughnuts but were out of a few, slowly replenishing stocks. I had no trouble selecting four good ones though. I generally bring them back for the office, and unfortunately they're not as good as they would be fresh, but the flavors delivered, including the basic chocolate and cinnamon, but also the blueberry and cream-filled indulgences. They offered beverages but were out of most of them when I dropped by. It seems like they might not have been having the best day, but the quality of the product, with both cake and yeast doughnuts available, was sound, and they're vegan-friendlier than I would have guessed.

Susan B.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Best donut I have ever had. So fresh and the flavors are great. Service is great too. Kind and patient workers. We'd never been there before and they were very helpful.

Sonia P.

Yelp
I first learned about Vortex Doughnuts when they were features in an issue of food network magazine, and I knew I wanted to visit when I was in the area. I first tried them in 2016 and was back in Asheville for the first time since then to enjoy a weekend away with my husband. We got multiple donuts, and they also advised us which we could get for our son with an egg allergy. The place is clean and the service is friendly. Overall, you can't go wrong with Vortex Doughnuts.

Aspen M.

Yelp
Customer service was excellent! Atmosphere was clean and welcoming. However, the donuts were no good. We tried six different ones and both my friend and I agreed that we would not go back. Specifically, their take on the vegan apple fritter was obviously not in vain but definitely tasted that way. After conversing with my friend about what exactly we did not alike about these donuts, we came to the conclusion that it was about the dough. The dough was rather thick and there was just too much of it. And this seems like a common theme with various versions of their donuts. If you are one of those types that really loves eating dough, then this is your spot. But if you prefer more of a even balance between the other components of a donut and the dough itself, then this probably isn't your spot.

Sefali P.

Yelp
Came here to grab breakfast for the road as we made our way down to Pigeon Forge. Got the Green Monster, maple sea salt, espresso and the peach cobbler. They were rather dry which is odd considering we got them in the morning so I'd think they were fresh. While the espresso lived up to it's name, the peach cobbler did not. If we had to pick a favorite it'd be the green monster which had an eclectic mix of flavors that went well together. The shop was cute but expect to wait, and pay up as these are on the pricier side.

Tessa M.

Yelp
They have cake donuts, yeast donuts, and vegan donuts. I get burnt out on cake donuts, so I like that they offer their flavors on a yeast donut. They've got their case clearly labeled with descriptions on the difference between a cake and yeast donut. Yeast donuts are lighter and fluffier where a cake donut is denser and more filling. The flavors/glazes/toppings were not overly sweet, which I can appreciate. I don't like overly sweet because then I can't eat as many (haha). Everything we got tasted just as the flavors were labeled in the case. Now, where this place really got the 5 stars for us was with the drinks we got. We got a dirty chai latte and a chaider (chai latte and hot apple cider). Clearly, we are fans of chai! We've been plenty of places where the chai drinks are more sweet than they are spice forward. And in a good chai, you want those floral spices to be very present. The place has a few tables inside of you're there early enough and plenty of room for a line of people waiting to order their donuts. Definitely stop in and get a donut (or 4).

Jenny J.

Yelp
A rad donut shop tucked into the fringe of downtown Asheville. The vibe is super cool to hangout for a coffee. The staff was super friendly and shared all their recommendations! We got a 4-pk. I'm partial to cake donuts and the Old Fashioned was great, but their yeast donuts were unreal! They have a knack for creating killer frosting, which was more like a dessert sauce! Highly recommend!!

Joel H.

Yelp
We rolled through Asheville on "Donut Friday". A quick search for vegan donuts brought Vortex to my attention. I fully expected vegan options to be limited to like two or three choices. Oh heck no, Vortex states at the door that unless otherwise labelled, the donut is vegan. Normalize this please! Vortex offers two styles of donuts. The traditional yeast and fried version and cake style. A lot of the same flavors are available in each style. I wanted the traditional fried yeast donuts (as did the rest of my family). We grabbed half a dozen. Two chocolate iced, a strawberry iced, chocolate vortex, blackberry vortex and a strawberry, chocolate, peanut and banana. Delicious! The texture was right on. The icings were less sugar and more fruit/dark chocolate flavored. I was so on board. My kids, eh, they wanted more sugar. Oh well, that meant more for me. I also grabbed a NOLA Cold brew. Vortex uses 1000 Faces coffee. Their NOLA contains chicory in the cold brew. Oat Milk is an option that Vortex offers. The drink was slightly sweet and licorice like. It was a great drink. Vortex is definitely not cheap. But I'm ok paying up for incredible vegan donuts and coffee especially when the business features them front and center instead of seeming like a last second addition to the menu.

Lauren M.

Yelp
The doughnuts were amazing. That espresso dusted doughnut? Probably one of the best I've ever had!! Very hip vibes, and the folks were nice. Definitely recommend I'd you're in the area!

Sophie S.

Yelp
If you love doughnuts, Vortex is a must visit when in Asheville! Absolutely delicious!

Abby M.

Yelp
This is the perfect spot to stop for a quick breakfast. We ordered the 4 pack and got the vortex, blackberry sprinkle, cream cheese, and apple fritter. The Apple fritter was the best I have had! Real apples throughout the entire donut and it is so filling. The others were very good too! Reasonably priced and quick service.

Blair S.

Yelp
Delicious!!!! I would recommend getting a few and sharing. The staff was very friendly and very helpful! It was in a very cool part of town. I loved the vanilla, coconut, blueberry cream cheese, and apple fritter. I don't think you can go wrong here!

John H.

Yelp
Pumpkin spiced doughnut to kick off fall? Yes please! Great pumpkin flavor on a light airy yeast doughnut was heaven. They have quite the selection in both yeast and cake variety which you don't often find. Their lattes are also solid because you can't have doughnuts without coffee.

Leslie W.

Yelp
Vegan yeast doughnuts. I'll drop the mic right there. I don't know about you but my hometown is desperately in need of vegan, yeast doughnuts available on the regular. Right now, it's mainly a certain day of the week at a few places. When you need a doughnut, you need a doughnut. Am I right?!? Anyhoo, I was pleased as punch to find a shop in Asheville that daily makes these delights from scratch. They offer yeast and cake varieties as well as non-vegan options and items for gluten-free folks as well. Walking in on a Friday morning, I saw the amazing display of goodness on the front counter. I had so many choices, it was overwhelming. I waited my turn, there was a line of course, and decided on two - strawberry waffle cone and maple blueberry pecan. These a really large doughnuts as you can tell from my photos. Also a lot of sugar, so be forewarned. Vegan food does not always equal healthy food. Vortex is like a gourmet Krispy Kreme (another gem of North Carolina), y'all. My breakfast was about $8 as I recall, with no drink, but worth it. This is a treat not a daily thing for sure. I preferred the strawberry as the flavor was more pronounced and natural. I would've liked the maple to be more maple and less straight sugary. The toppings were gorgeous and delicious on both. Vegan, not vegan - all doughnut lovers should try Vortex. Nice people, ginormous doughnuts, and inventive flavor combinations.

Daniel G.

Yelp
I would have to be really upset and disappointed to actually take the time to write a negative review about a place. I needed to find a dessert type item to share with 10 or so people and I thought donuts would work well because it wouldn't involve having to cut slices and all that sort of thing. I wanted something different and was looking around on Google for local businesses I could support. I have tried duck donuts in the past and they're good but I wanted something different that wasn't the usual Krispy Kreme or Duncan or Ingles. So when I saw that vortex was open till 2:00 I hurried over there. Here are three adjectives that come to mind when I'm thinking of vortex: Unremarkable, stale, overpriced. I got a bakers dozen and an extra apple fritter and a coffee and it was like $44. I knew I was getting ripped off when I swiped but I wasn't sure about how badly until I tasted the apple fritter and realized I had been duped. How is this place in business serving up these types of items for these kinds of prices? Maybe Asheville's forgotten what real GOOD food tastes like? Never again.

Theanna L.

Yelp
Go there ready to kill a minimum of 2 donuts. The donuts are fresh, made same day. They have seasonal donuts and when they sell out they don't make anymore (definitely get one of those). I got two specialty donuts and then two backups just incase we didn't like the special ones. Some advice-- go all in. They separate the donuts by cakey or doughy-- I happen to like both so I got both types. They have almost the same flavors for each type of donut. Then they have their seasonal donuts. The apple fritter donut was a pleasant surprise. It was the first thing I bit into and the last thing I wanted to savor. Even the ice coffee was delicious. They have local art hanging on the back wall for sale via Venmo which I thought was pretty cool. I probably gained some lbs but it was definitely worth it!

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
I love donuts, so this donut shop has been on my radar for a while. I will now try to come here every time I'm in Asheville. Covid-19: I don't think there's any way to order ahead. It's possible that you could call in your order, but the flavors rotate and there's no reliable place to find the current menu (I thought I found it on Instagram, but it ended up being wrong). Luckily, we could go in to get donuts very quickly. We got 4 donuts: blueberry/mango/coconut, banana/maple/pecan, cream cheese, and salted caramel. These were all yeast donuts. They also have cake donuts, but cake donuts are far inferior so we obviously did not get them. These donuts were amazing. They were doughy and flavorful. My favorite was probably the blueberry/mango/coconut. The cream cheese and salted caramel were more classic donuts, but I loved how saucy they were (literally dripping with glazed topping). Many of their donuts are vegan too. I'm pretty sure some of the ones we got were vegan, but I don't remember which ones (you couldn't tell). These are far better than any donuts I've had in Charlotte. If you're in the area and like donuts, make sure to stop here!

Akshar P.

Yelp
If you're in Asheville, you must stop by. The quality of donuts, care by employees, and unique flavor combo will make you want to go more than once. I believe we ordered one of each donuts, most of their latte as we had our wedding party there and everything was delicious and perfect. My favorite were chai donut and lemon blueberry.

Ren F.

Yelp
Doughnuts were just okay. I give credit for the yeasty airy chew which was pleasant. Got the apple fritter and hot honey. The fritter was not frittering, it lacked the hearty heft I expect from fritters, also the apple bits seemed washed of their flavor or too tart, all over the place?? What bothered me the most was the service. I walked in, obvious eye contact, no greeting. no welcoming feeling. I thought it was just me. A friend comes in, the same thing, barista with glasses was devoid of any welcoming quality. Observed another customer come in, she too was ignored as she stood around wondering what/how?...as 2 employees behind the counter was busy talking, even glanced at her, but proceeded to finish their convo before finally saying something. I've worked at a cafe during university. The customers coming in are the main priority no if/ands/buts. To top it off, my friends and I wondered why his drink was taking forever. He finally goes up to the counter and it was just sitting there???

Anthony T.

Yelp
After trying Vortex Doughnuts for our first time, my wife and I intend on coming back every time we visit Asheville. Donuts are our favorite treat, we have then often and of all the donuts we've had--these are some of the best. The yeast donuts are soft and doughy which we both enjoy. The glazes are thick, flavorful, and sweet. And not only that, they look pretty too.

Jenni L.

Yelp
Vortex is a great place to stop for some good coffee and donuts! They have a nice selection of both cake and yeast style donuts. The holenut is a neat idea and is great for sharing!

Danielle O.

Yelp
We were very excited to try this place l as it is highly praised. When we got there, there was still quite a selection but not as many cake donuts left. Works for me, as I normally don't like cake donuts and only yeast. My partner got a cake one to try though as he likes cake doughnuts. When we tried them all, they were definitely good, don't get me wrong, but they didn't live up to the hype for me. The yeast doughnuts were a bit too chewy for my liking but I tried a bite of the cake doughnuts and it was quite good. I would say they are better at doing cake doughnuts than they are yeast in my opinion. My favorite doughnuts are Bakers Dozen in Cary, NC and it's hard to beat. Give this place a try though!

Rae V.

Yelp
This is such a good local coffee/doughnut shop. And best of all they have Gluten Free options! Even though the GF donuts look a bit sad since they are smaller and not as fluffy as the other pastries they are still delicious. Both the vortex and sprinkles I would recommend. The coffee is also pretty good. It will taste like coffee and not like syrup which is awesome in my eyes.

Yelp
A coffee and doughnut shop. The doughnut flavors are always well organized by yeast, gluten free and cake sections. The yeast doughnuts are my go to! They are so moist and thick. One doughnut alone is pretty filling since they are big. I've tried a bunch of different flavors and seasonal flavors. All of which I've liked and would order again if offered. There's plenty of vegan options and non vegan options. Some are cream filled as well. I look forward to visiting vortex doughnuts every time I go to Asheville. Give this place a try if you're in town! Your tummy will thank you later.

Yelp
Wonderful, fluffy, light, flavorful yeast donuts. We got the vortex, cinnamon sugar mango, strawberry chocolate, and our favorite cream cheese mango. Coffee was great too. Line moves quick while you debate what to get and room to eat in or take out.

Yelp
I didn't even realize these donuts were vegan! They were freshly made the morning my friends and I came in, so we got a half dozen to split and a slew of coffees to enjoy at their outdoor seating area. For any lactose intolerant folks, they do have non dairy milk options for your coffee! We were looking for something quick before heading to a morning wedding ceremony and this hit the spot. Our donut haul included the waffle cone, cinnamon sugar, and various berry donuts. Their menu changes often so I won't recommend a specific donut, but I will say anything in their display case will be a good choice!
