Fantastic! The spring rolls were a major win. The pho broth was great, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The service is really fast, the staff is very attentive. Lunch specials are reasonably priced and affordable for the portion sizes. The atmosphere is absolutely adorable, and provides such a relaxing mood before the meal. Definitely will eat here again.

Google
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The service was so friendly and courteous. The vibe was calm and quiet, and had an element of southern pacific island feel. Banh Mi with an egg roll was excellent. I will be coming back.

Google
I liked their atmosphere with colorful lights, pretty decorations, and clean. For lunch, I got their banh mi with spring rolls. My husband got the banh mi with egg rolls. Both our sandwiches and appetizers were really good! Our server was also attentive and checked in with us multiple times.

First time at Vo’s and we dined in. The decor was a bit strange and gave a tiki vibe. The food and drinks were good and super affordable. Enjoyed the fried pot sticker, com bo nuong (BBQ beef), and hu tieu thap cam. There was plenty of street parking. We’ll definitely be back.

Walked in and knew what I wanted. It was cold outside and I needed some Pho to warm me up. I thought it was going to be a complicated selection but found it to be a single simplistic line item to order. I really liked that. I also really wanted some Viet Coffee because it hits well for my craving at the time. My only complaint was the water wasn't really all that hot when it was steeping. I mentioned it to the staff and they took care of it right away to bring back to me a very well heated cup of hot Viet coffee.

Google
Fun place we went for date night. Quiet but friendly ambiance, quick and attentive service. The food was delicious too. Leave a fortune someplace special. Maybe it will come true? We highly recommend if you happen to be in the Uptown area!

Google
There is only one option for beef pho, which had what seemed to be previously-frozen overcooked beef knuckle, no option for bright red rare brisket, or round eye steak, as you might be offered at other Vietnamese restaurants. The broth and noodles were just ok. I would avoid ordering beef pho if you decide to go here. The booth seating does offer a very impressive amount of privacy and mood lighting if you’re out on a hot date there.

This is a perfect place to dine with friends. It is quiet, so we can actually hear each other. They were not busy, the decorating was really good, the waiter was perfect, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. We got the curry, and the egg rolls, and liked them. Excellent atmosphere, excellent service, excellent food.

Yelp
Vo's is a very cute Vietnamese restaurant in the South Uptown neighborhood that offers reasonably priced pho, Vietnamese food, and even some cheap happy hour drinks. Vo's is located pretty much in the middle of a neighborhood, but don't let that deter you from visiting. It is more than worth the visit. The restaurant is decorated sort of like a Tiki bar with fake palm trees and other tropical scenery which I know can be a bit tacky, but I found cute and endearing. The servers are friendly and kind and let us choose wherever wanted to sit. The booths are cool and each one has a bright colored light that tints the whole booth one color (red, green, etc.) which can make for an interesting experience when eating as you aren't really sure what the food looks like unless you hold a phone light to it. (Also, if you see other pictures on Yelp that are bright green or red, know that is why!) Now the pho was absolutely beautiful. At only $11.50, the bowl is HUGE - way more than enough for me so I had plenty to take home. I was brought the usual toppings (Thai basil, bean sprouts, jalapeño, etc.). The broth was rich and flavorful and was perfect with a bit of Sriracha. Keep in mind that the meat is brought over well done when you order it. I am used to it coming out rare but it was done so nicely, nothing to be worried about. I will definitely be coming back soon, and will probably take any friends or family that visit me!

Yelp
Love Vo's so much! It's been a go-to for a fun, casual, meal out or takeout. Sad to hear that it will be sold and closing soon! The lighting in here is so funny - red, purple, blue, green. But I think that's what makes it so fun :) The food is always pretty reliable. Nothing mind-blowing or outstanding but again, reliable, and tasty! They've got a standard Vietnamese-American menu, so many good options! They also serve some local beer and have a great happy hour. The staff here has always been so friendly. Thank you Vo's for all the memories! You will be missed!

Elijah W.

Yelp
It has a very different and unique set up with booths that have these led lights. There is a whole tiki type vibe going on which I think is pretty cool. The food was pretty good. The best thing was by far the egg roll. The chef was very nice and I enjoyed being able to see into the kitchen a little bit.

Hoa N.

Yelp
First time here. The atmosphere is pretty casual. The interior seemed like it was a Mexican restaurant that had been converted to a Vietnamese restaurant. When we arrived for dinner, they were a little busy and I believe there was only one wait staff taking orders so it took a while before we could places our orders. Once we placed our orders the food came out pretty quick.

Yelp
Vo's is a homey Vietnamese spot that labels all its vegan items and has great options. The special vegan pho ($11.50) tastes good when mixed all together, but the broth has an odd flavor without any basil or onions added to the mix. That said, I'd get it again. The vegan egg rolls ($6) are large and above average. While the interior is slightly mushy, it's nicely seasoned. The mock duck with black bean sauce ($14) tasted good, even though the sauce weren't as savory as I would have hoped. I still liked it, though. The hot and spicy tofu ($13.45) was tasty and moderately spicy. I liked it. All told, Vo's has some of the better vegan Vietnamese food in the Twin Cities. I'd also recommend Jasmine 26 and My Huong Cafe.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Vo's after living near the area for a year, and I am mad it took me this long to go! It's a cool little spot with great, inexpensive food. The vibe of the inside of the restaurant is kind of weird. There are bright colored lights in all the booths that make it interesting to eat your food when a bright red light distorts the color of the dish. The food was good. I got a barbecue combo dish that had shrimp, beef, and chicken. All were great and was served with a spring roll and rice. Overall a nice dinner and I will be back!

Apollonia P.

Yelp
Very tasty. The spring rolls are fresh and the service is great. Rice not too salty but flavorful. Nice ambiance inside.

Chelsea P.

Yelp
I love Vo's! They have a great vegan selection and I love their vegan pho!! We've enjoyed everything we've tried and they have great prices. Parking is on the street but there's always spots. Something for everyone!!

Burton Z.

Yelp
Vietnamese that seems to be healthier than many other restaurants in its class. Reasonable pricing and a kitschy atmosphere makes it a very comfy choice for a good meal in uptown. The beef brochette is to die for -- add it to your appetizer platter for sure

Sadie L.

Yelp
I have loved this place for a long time! Delicious food and I really appreciate the customer service from Eric! Eric makes the experience very nice and hospitable even when I am just placing an order to go :) five stars :)

Mikayla K.

Yelp
I ordered takeout from here and got the bahn mi + spring roll, and an order of egg rolls. The spring roll was stuffed full of meat and shrimp and the oversized egg roll was crunchy and delicious! I highly recommend both of them. The bahn mi was classic and satisfying and all together, this was the perfect lunch. This is clearly a well loved family business and it is 100% worth going to. It's a great place!

Erica P.

Yelp
The waitress was kind enough to seat us even though the kitchen was closing in 20 minutes, but my experience was completely ruined by the chef. I ordered the shrimp curry with four stars to receive a regular curry with a shit ton of chili flakes on top. The spice wasn't incorporated at all--just the chili flakes. I pointed it out to the waitress and asked if they could change it. She politely brought out some chili oil and said that I could mix it in. Not even five minutes later the chef comes out and instead of apologizing yells at me. He tells me that my curry is "just the way they do it here" and that it "tastes the same anyway." I'm not sure why he felt the need to come out of the kitchen and yell at me for asking to change the food, but I'm never coming back.

Lyle O.

Yelp
Such kind and speedy service! We stopped for a quick takeout lunch - Bahn Mis and egg rolls. The owner was super nice and the food was amazing! The Bhan Mi was on a fresh baguette, with juicy roast pork, a great sauce, and lots of fresh veggies dressed in a tangy vinaigrette. Wow! The egg roll was also one of the best I've ever had - hand made and fried to crusty perfection. Even their fish sauce was standout.

Michael L.

Yelp
Pho without Bean sprouts and lime . and the meat dish is like the photo with to thin slice of meat . Been waiting for 45 min since we been seated and half restaurants empty . The chef is super rude . Came out yell on us . Told me this just way it is. He said if there no sprout then you can go to ask for it . I said pho come with this garnish is stander. I should not go to ask for them . And two slices of meat small like this . Is not normal . Chef super mad with us and rude . I showed him the photo other people got before . He said that's before now is now . Covid blah blah . Maybe you should change a job . Open a restaurant and be a chef maybe not fit you . Those pho soup just taste like MSG with sugar soup . Read other people's review . We are not the only one been yelled.

Yelp
Yes yes yes a million times yes. This is one of my favorite Vietnamese places in MPLS (okay, they're ALL my favorite Vietnamese places). First, the decor. It's kitschy, it's fun, it's like nothing you've seen before. The place is a spectacle. Green exterior with neon signs, you walk in and feel like you're on a Vietnamese beach or jungle. The poles are humorously decorated as palm trees, and the ceiling is lined with grass skirting and colored lights. There are little pieces of Vietnam everywhere, giving it a truly authentic feel. The best part of the design: the BOOTHS! Get your own booth when you come here. Each has a different light, and it makes you feel like you're in your own intimate little cubby. Very cozy and private. Next, the service. This is a tightly run operation. Who I assume to be the owner runs the front of the house--greeting guests, running food from kitchen to table, and checking to-go orders out at the front. Who appears to be his mom and dad run the kitchen. There is a younger man who out of the 4+ times I've been here, has been the only waiter. He's super efficient, polite, and very kind. Sometimes we do wait a bit for food because it's such a tight ship, but never an abnormal wait time. Next, the food. Their Pho is my comfort food--like chicken noodle soup for the soul. Pho is a little lean on the chicken, but very good broth. I've also had a few of their main dishes, like the chicken stir fry and the Vietnamese Lo Mein. Both are very good and just the right portion. Both come with rice. I really really need to try their Bun (vietnamese noodle salad) sometime, as it's one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes, but haven't been able to say no to Pho. For appetizers: their barbequed chicken is super moist and flavorful--get it! I also really like their spring rolls, and the peanut sauce that accompanies it is delish. Check this place out! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
One of my new favorites! This is probably the most reasonably priced Asian food in Minneapolis with perfect portion sizes and amazing vegan options. The vegan banh mi and egg roll combo is one of my go-to's. Staff is super kind as well. Thanks for being awesome Vo's!

Tony G.

Yelp
the vegan items like eggrolls are not vegan. they are fried in the same fryer as the pork. everything else was great.

Wiyaka ..

Yelp
Vo's is the only place to order Lo Mein. The flavor isn't over salty like many other places we have tasted. The noodles are how they are supposed to be, not flat and bland like others. Plus Vo's doesn't over-do it on the sauce. If you want lo mein and not saucy noodles with vegetables, order from Vo's. Always friendly and easy to order.

Leena C.

Yelp
Vegan and college kid budget friendly! Portions are more than enough as well. Quick service and knowledgeable staff to assist with the "tricky" dietary restriction needs

Carol C.

Yelp
Vegan pho was delicious! Have been here twice and I love how many veggies and tofu are in this. Will come here again.

Steph T.

Yelp
So I was looking for a tasty lunch spot and decided to try this place with my husband. It was such a disappointment. We called in to order the bun with grilled shrimp and he got a lunch special sweet and sour chicken with plain fried rice. The location was easy to find and the place inside had a nice authentic ambiance. The worker there was also friendly and professional. When we opened the food it didn't look that great and the taste was just not authentic or delicious. The food was very bland, had no flair and did not impress. One star for location and one star for kindness but I would not return here for food. It is not authentic Vietnamese or Chinese...

Abbie F.

Yelp
We went here based on a recommendation from a friend. We ended up getting the Bahn Mi lunch specials with mock dick and the other with bbq pork. It was SO GOOD!! The bread was perfect! Amazing flavor on the pork and a great ratio of meat and vegetables. The carrots were nice and crunchy, little bit of heat with the jalapeños, refreshing cucumber and my favorite herb-cilantro! Everything tastes better with cilantro. The owner was super friendly and helpful. Oh yeah and their spring rolls are stellar! The mint was so flavorful along with the shrimp and pork and noodles. I didn't try any of the egg rolls and that looked good as well. Really filled me up and those of you who know me know that I can eat! Looking forward to dining in there in the upcoming months. Until then I'll continue to order take out!

Maggie H.

Yelp
I've ordered in from Vo's a few times but just recently had the pleasure of dining at their location. The decor is interesting and cheap but nothing that would turn me away. The bathrooms are odd, they are right off the dining area and have one stall from one castle like door. Doesn't feel very private, if someone opens the door the diners can see right into the bathroom. No thanks. Anyway, I've always been please with the food as they have plenty of vegan options including vegan egg rolls! They are small but crispy and flaky. My sister wanted pho and was pleased by what she got. She said it was on the sweet side of pho that she's had but both bowls of her and her partner were emptied. I had the veggie tofu chow mein which was great and my Mr had the fried potatoes which he loved. The Jasmine tea was ok, not too flavorful. Vo's is a safe bet if you're looking for good Vietnamese fare and want to please everyone

John E E.

Yelp
Some of the worst service I have experienced here in Minneapolis. The restaurant wasn't even that busy and we waited 45 minutes and had not been served. Walked out. Never again.

Valerie S.

Yelp
Soooo kitschy cute! Grass huts and twinkle lights...what's not to love? The Waitress recommended the coconut curry chicken, man o man...amazazing! Everything was yummy tho! Warm heart full belly :)

Alice C.

Yelp
0 stars what the fricken A? Walked in and were immediately seated. There is one big party but they are not full by any means. There was one person at the door and another person serving the big party. After 15 minutes of no one coming to take even a drink order and we're watching person after person get to go orders I went up the the front. "Hey do you have any servers? Because we've been here for 15 minutes!" I asked the person I had seen serving. He came over then but stood awkwardly far away from the table. He had no apology for not coming over earlier. The host person came over and apologized saying I'm sorry we'll make this as smooth as possible. Cool. It was not smooth. We get our sodas and Vietnamese coffee. There is barely a 1/4" of sweetened condensed milk and the espresso is so weak it is see through! We asked for another saying it tastes like water. The next coffee but was no better. FORTY MINUTES later our food hasn't come out and we see 12 more people get their to go orders. I put down enough money for the drinks and we walked out. The host watched us go without a word of apology. We went to Quang where they have service and food that actually appears

Logan M.

Yelp
The bun salad was heavy on rice noodles and light on chicken and vegetables. Very bland. The table didn't even have the sauces you would expect at a Vietnamese restaurant to have. The dinner menu was pretty limited and overpriced. There are too many great Vietnamese restaurants in uptown to make me consider coming back here. The service was not great either. Disappointing.

Maggie M.

Yelp
Not entirely sure how this place has 4 stars. If you like bland, under seasoned meals. This is your go to spot. Our table ordered the chicken fried rice, beef & potatoes sauté, pho w. Beef, chicken chow main. Everything came out looking like it should have some flavors. But it missed the mark. Service was decent. I just wouldn't go back cause when I think Vietnamese Food i think flavor and this place had none.

Kathrine M.

Yelp
Efficient with my order and so friendly when I can to pick it up! I got the cold salad with grilled pork and it was so delicious and refreshing. It's always the meal I start with when trying a new Vietnamese restaurant. I'm very happy I work nearby so I can stop by more often!

Jennifer K.

Yelp
We love vo's- we never have to wait to sit down - they seems to always have drink specials, and the food is fantastic, so flavorful, perfectly cooked, great for any night. My favorite currently is the noodle dishes and stirred veggies - just wonderful.

Naomi O.

Yelp
Lunch Specials menu #L1 banh mi with BBQ pork with side of veggie egg roll. Nice portion, all crispy and tasty.

Cary E.

Yelp
Good food - poor service. Only 2 tables inside rest look dirty and like abandoned building. Once the said they had no tables available asked three times for a table outside before they said "Go find one". The kid waiter paid hardly any attention when I ordered. It is like self service. Siagon Vietnamese is only 3 blocks north on Lyndale and has great food and great service.

Liam S.

Yelp
Vo's is a special restaurant and Francois (owner) is a very nice and dedicated man who makes me and my friends feel very welcome every time we go. Stop by Vo's! They recently added many new vegan options to their menu

Marcin C.

Yelp
Wonderful food, great options for vegetarians (well prepared mock duck). And prices are reasonable.

Hien S.

Yelp
My sister recommended this place when I was in town. It was a nice mom and pop Vietnamese shop. The atmosphere was interesting but cute. We were seated but it was weird we only got 2 menus for 3 adults. The service was ok because there seemed to be only one waitress for a Saturday night. She was super Friendly. I was surprised by the number of vegan dishes, which was great for vegetarians. The menu was very oddly placed as soups were at the top, which to me seem strange since appetizers are typically at the top, and entrees are below, so I completely missed the pho. I ordered the rice platter. The pork was amazing and plenty! It was extremely flavorful and not chewy that I didn't even need the fish sauce. The dish lacked your typical sides that comes with a traditional Vietnamese rice platter, which was slightly disappointing to me. The spring rolls were huge and good. The peanut sauce was ok. I also ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee. It was good but lacked the sweet taste that I am used to from a Vietnamese coffee. Overall, this is a nice and yummy place to eat but compared to the many Vietnamese restaurants in the Twin Cities, it wouldn't be my first choice.

Sierra F.

Yelp
Really feels good to support local during the pandemic! The owner was very happy for the support. Great fried rice and pho!

Joseph R.

Yelp
Great authentic food, larger vegetarian menu, and wonderful service! This restaurant is a gem in this area that you have to visit of your in town.

Anna S.

Yelp
Had this for dinner last night with my husband. Greeted warmly and got seated right away. My husband I loved that the booths were numbered so they could just tell us which to sit at. There was one waitress for the place who was super nice and worked really hard (however it was too few once it got busier). We got a delicious appetizer: Vo special II, which my husband and I loved! We then got the hot and spicy and stir fry with black bean sauce. Both were decent, but wouldn't crave them. Loved the funky decor including the light with old fortunes. Worth another try maybe but not something I'll be craving

George D.

Yelp
This is the 3rd time I've gotten food here, and all 3 times have left me overwhelmingly dissatisfied. This last time compelled me to finally write a review, it was that unappealing. I can honestly say the only reason I've been here this much is because I live less than a block away, it's a convenient choice - I say with 100% certainty I won't be coming back. Today I got pho. - The broth was bland, and overly sweet. It contained a few green onions and white onions. Nothing else. The white onions were arguably inedible - most were the outside layer of the onion that aren't good to eat. - The beef was over cooked. Some pieces were so chewy that I refused to eat them. And flank isn't supposed to be fatty, some of the pieces were half fat. - The meatballs sadly were the best part, although again bland. I had to pay $1 extra to even get the meatballs though. So that's $10.25 for an average sized portion of beef and meatball pho. - The pho came with the expected condiments, and I was happy they could fulfill my request for chili oil. - For those who want different kinds of beef, tripe, tendon, brisket, etc - this is not the place for you. It's only beef and chicken. And of course $1 extra for underwhelming meatballs. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the employees are very kind and treat you well. Next time I want pho, I'll be getting in the car and driving to eat street. Vo's is overpriced, inauthentic and serves sub-par Vietnamese food. Several of their menu items aren't even Vietnamese, i.e. Almond ding. Disappointed.

Lisa P.

Yelp
I recently moved to the area and ordered a bunch of Vo's lunch specials to feed my movers. Unfortunately, I was not very impressed... The meat in the banh mi was not like the meat I've had at other Vietnamese restaurants and it tasted a little off. The spring rolls were chewy, like they had been sitting too long. I did enjoy the egg rolls (as others have mentioned) and the chicken and beef brochettes. Prices were good and service pleasant, but I just did not think the food was on par with my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the city. Maybe I'll try it again sometime, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Natalie V.

Yelp
This place rocks. We went here by accident when some friends were in town from San Francisco visiting. It was FANTASTIC. Our Cali friends even said it was better than places they had been to. We have since gone here as a family, for birthdays and with other out of town guests. Consistent quality fresh food, consistent service. The place has a cool bohemian vibe and outdoor seating. My favorite dish is the coconut curry chicken. I'm Dairy free and GF and they have said this works. My family has given a Thumbs up to Lo Mein and several other dishes.

Ethan H.

Yelp
The lunch "specials" are really only less expensive because the portions are smaller, so not a benefit for the customer. That being said, the food is great and fair prices overall. Staff is nice and friendly.

Sanchez B.

Yelp
Okie-Dokie, let me take ya on a little trip. Well, not really. Ok fine, I'll get to the point. We went to Vo's before going to see a movie. It was recommended to us by a few friends as a great option for vegan food. That was more than enough to sell us, seeing as we like......food. I had the barbeque chicken appetizer and my wife had the fried dumplings. For the entrée I went with the sweet and sour chicken combo and my wife got the veggie Pho. Firstly, the barbeque chicken was stupendous! I loved the glaze on it, it was delicious. Definitely one of my favorite things there. my wife loved the dumplings, but said they were a little short on filling. My Sweet and Sour Chicken combo consisted of sweet and sour chicken, white rice, and an egg roll. Egg Roll was scrumptious, if a tad bit over greased. Sweet and Sour chicken had too much sauce. Like, WAY too much sauce. The flavor was outstanding though, I'd definitely order again. Just tell em light on the sauce. My wife enjoyed the Pho, just would've liked more veggies. All in all, this is an above average restaurant with an extremely helpful staff and very fun atmosphere. We came by again and each tried different things and still enjoyed our food very much. Definitely recommend a visit here if you're in the area. But why, what do I know? I'm just a Yelp Elite.

Slade K.

Yelp
Our favorite Vietnamese place in the cities. The Pho is top notch as well as their other dishes, but check out their bahn mi. I wish they served it all day because it's so good. Service is also great and the people there are super nice. Plus they serve beer!

Mary N.

Yelp
Fantastic food! I've been following Francois since 1989, when his restaraunt was at Washington Avenue and Oak Street. His brown sauce on stir fries and fresh spring rolls are the best they have ever been!

Julia M.

Yelp
We came here for pho, unfortunately they only offer beef or chicken, $8.50 a bowl. The pho was pretty plain, not much veggies, and the soup was pretty gross. :-( the plus is they did give alot of beef, but unfortunately the beef was chewy and not tender. Definitely bring tooth pick or floss because they don't offer that either. I gave them three stars because the service was quick and the server was nice and did come and check up on us.

James C.

Yelp
Love the food here. Be warned that Yelp says they deliver but only though apps, not via online or telephone. I've eaten in here and had take away and never been disappointed with the food. However, they're often understaffed and so the wait in restaurant can be long. Be ready for a leisurely dinner.

Matt F.

Yelp
This was our first time eating here it was a great experience! We did carry out, the food was ready quickly and boy was it good. Nice quality food lots of meat and veggies in the fried rice, the wonton soup had fresh ingredients not doughy. The spring rolls had lots of cilantro which some people may not like but we thought it was great. And we also got chicken with vegetables. All quite yummy!

Jamie S.

Yelp
This place could be the perfect neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant if only the food was a little more consistent. On my first visit here I got the Chow Mein with beef. The meat was tender and juicy and the sauce was flavorful. Plus I'm a sucker for the crunchies! My boyfriend agreed to go with me for the $3 Saga. The service was so-so. I had to call the waiter over twice to get a refill and it wasn't even busy. But overall a pretty good first visit. My 2nd time at Vo's I opted for the takeout. I figured the Chow Mein wouldn't be so smart in a takeout box as the crunchy noodles would probably get soggy. So I went with the BBQ pork/chicken with an egg roll. The pork was tender but the chicken was pounded thin and incredibly dry. The barbecue sauce was tasty but I could have gone for more (probably because the meat was so dry). My egg roll was perfectly crunchy. My boyfriend got the curry and loved it. It was spicy and the vegetables were fresh.

Anita C.

Yelp
We got the beef pho here. The broth was good but there was only one type of protein and the beef was a bit dry. I'm used to having tendon, meatballs, etc. Moreover, I was hungry after finishing my bowl! It seemed super small. I'm usually so full after pho but not here. I don't think I'll be coming back here for pho.
