Nashville’s Best Restaurants for Vegetarians and Vegans | Eater Nashville

"You’ll find a bounty of vegetarian (and some vegan) Vietnamese dishes at Vui’s Kitchen locations in Berry Hill, East Nashville, Nolensville, and Franklin, including tofu banh mi and pho with tofu, mushrooms, and vegan broth. And if a dish with meat catches your eye, the restaurant will typically work to make the dish vegetarian upon request." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Google
This was my first time here and it think I went overboard on the food. The menu looked so good and we decided to get a few plates to share instead of a bowl of noodles. (Most of the other people had that and it all looked so good! We had the cucumber salad, the spare ribs, the spring rolls, the Dumplings, and the chicken satay Buns. All of it was good, but not very memorable. I think for what it is and where it is located, it's a great choice for people who would like authentic Asian food. I would recommend this place and next time, I would definitely get the noodles.

Google
Located at the corner of Liberty Pike and Carothers Pkwy, this Vietnamese restaurant is a fast casual establishment. You order at the counter, and they provide you with a number for your table. They bring the food to your table. They have a great variety of options like bao bums, summer rolls, bowls, pho, etc. we had the shrimp summer rolls with peanut sauce and the Vui’s bowl with noodles and pork. Everything was fresh and delicious. There was a great fusion of flavors. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

An Nguyen

Google
It's a clean restaurant. Not a typical set up. You order your foods at the counter. There are a lot of varieties. Over all it was a pleasant experience.

This place is so delicious! I had the shrimp pad Thai and was not disappointed. I highly recommend checking them out.

Google
Wow! We went here for the first time the other day, and while we had a good experience overall, there are a few things that could have been better to truly bring this up to a 5 star review. The main difference is the quality between the vegetarian plates and the meat dishes. Firstly, if you love pho, this is not the place for you unless you like sweet pho. As we prefer a savory broth, the sweet broth was very strange and needed a lot of siracha and chili oil to balance it. Second, the tofu would be better fried to provide some texture and crunch in both the pho and the bao buns. The steamed dumplings were also okay, nothing to write home about, just had a strange flavor profile. Now for the meat portion…. Oh my goodness, the pork is SO good. Very flavorful and melt in your mouth. We had the pork on the bao buns, tacos, and noodle bowl, and it was all fantastic. Would highly recommend the pork to anyone who eats pork. As a side note, we were bothered by a couple of stink bugs while we were eating. We would flick them away, and they would come right back to the corner we were eating in. I’m sure they just came in when the door opened but thought I would mention it as it did affect our dining experience. Overall a 4/5 star place and we will come back!

Google
This place is a gem. They have great options for all ages. Food is delicious and filling. They have specials all the time, so sign up for the points system. I've been back to back on 2 days as they offered BOGO. SWEET deal. Ask for Oscar, great service.

Google
I ordered the rib eye pho and spring roll. The pho was good overall. I would like more soup though in my pho and little bit hotter (temperature wise ). The beef was good but I do wish I get more of it. They served local soda which was pretty interesting. You can also buy broth from them which is rare to see and would be really nice for a sick day at home!

Google
I come all the way from PA to have Vui's because it's one of my favorite places!! Every time I visit TN, which is often, I have to stop at my go-to spot and enjoy the most delicious and flavorful bowl of Phò!! This place is the absolute best!!

Yelp
I like this place . The food is fantastic ! Fresh and healthy .. good reset after the holidays . The employees are friendly and helpful . Bathrooms clean . I like that they have kombucha made locally in Nashville . I get the vegan options and they are good . Portion sizes are big . I like the appetizers .

Yelp
Service was really good, I loved how the dish looked. Place was clean and had good amount of seating. I ordered a Pho and it was not my favorite but maybe because I'm just not a big soup person, I'll try something different next time!

Yelp
Yup I don't get it?! People rave about the place and it's just okay. I will say this review is not a reflection of the staff who are really nice and get 4 stars! I wanted to give this place another try but it was disappointing. No Their floor gets a 1 star. Went during lunch and it was sticky and gross. Like your foot got stuck as you walked. The trash was overflowing. The place itself has a lot of seating but tables are so close together, you are in other people's conversations. The food was just okay. More of an Americanized take on Vietnamese food. I gave the fresh Summer Rolls (shrimp) another try and completely bland. Even the sauce was meh. Same as my first experience I had here. My S.O. had the regular Pho (beef) and his broth tasted like dish soap water. It did have lots of ingredients and he ended up having to put a lot of spices to eat it. He actually left all the broth in the end. Pork Belly Bahn Mi was okay, bread wasn't as good as other places. Fully loaded almost a little too much. Pork belly was good but way too much pate. The whole point is for the flavors to blend and pate overpowered it all. The slaw was good but the portion size was like a taster. Of the whole meal, the cucumber salad was the only memorable item. In the future, probably making the drive out of Franklin for Vietnamese food.

Yelp
While vacationing we were looking for something light and came across this little gem. All of the dishes were refreshing and very flavorful. It was just what we where hoping for. The food was delicious but the highlight was the level of customer service we received from Oscar. He was so sweet, engaging, and more than helpful in making recommendations for things for us to do during our visit. We will be back soon.

Yelp
Vui's Kitchen in Franklin is a family favorite for fresh, fast and tasty meals. I always order the Pork Belly Bowl--the char-grilled flavor on the pork belly is excellent, and the dish is very satisfying. The coconut pudding is also a great dessert, smooth and lightly sweet. Tried the pho with chicken recently. It was a little under-salted for my taste, but my wife had Real Salt on hand, so it worked out. I do wish they shared more details about their ingredients, like the quality of the meat, vegetables, and oils they use. If they were premium or organic, I assume it would be highlighted in their marketing. Their loyalty program is a nice perk, offering discounts that make it worth coming back. Overall, it's a good spot with friendly service and fresh options.
google avatar

Zaven S.

Yelp
Great food and great service. I always get the vegan pho, edamame dumplings and tofu Bao buns, mix up a little soy sauce and chili oil and add that on top for extra flavor and spice.
google avatar

Yelp
I really enjoyed the pho here! I've had the Beef Pho and the portion is smaller than what I'm used to, but felt like a refreshing meal for one person. The local kombucha they serve is Walker Brothers. Blueberry Jasmine and Cucumber Melon are a new favorite! Overall vibe was nice and the restaurant was extremely clean. Staff was super friendly. I personally don't think I'd buy pho here in the future because of the serving size, but am excited to go back and try different dishes.

Yelp
This is good value for the fast service, price, and taste. It is a little Americanize & marinade on the sweeter side but I love the freshness and abundance of veggies in my bowl. Ordered the chicken bowl with noodles and spring rolls. The spring rolls wrapper were a little dry like it was not made fresh & noodles undercooked which made the texture too dry & firm. Wished I would have ordered the steamed bao instead. Overall the food was fresh & good. I would come back here because it is fresh and fast with healthy options perfect for taking pick up to go.

Linda B.

Yelp
The service was pretty fast and the food was good. We had pad Thai and pho. Would recommend.

Yelp
Had a FANTASTIC experience at Vui's Kitchen today, so I had to update my review... There is a young woman who I believe is new (at least I've never seen her there) working the front counter, and she is exceptional. Super friendly, helpful, positive, and energetic, with helpful recommendations on what to order. She is a great addition to the Vui's Kitchen team. The food is always very good here. The bone broth for the pho is the best I've ever tasted. The Banh Mi sandwiches are excellent with a mix of great ingredients. We've always enjoyed our meals here. Everything is always really fresh and very tasty. They also have Christie Cookies (of Nashville) for dessert. It is great to see the cooperation with another local business.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE Vui's! It was so hard to find quality Pho in Franklin until we found Vui's! Great atmosphere, great food, and great service! Oscar is our all time fave human to see when we go in every week! Don't forget to grab some of their cookies they bake in house!

Yelp
Dear Vui's, I love you, I think of you often, I miss you when I'm away, and I tell everyone about you. Seriously, there are few restaurants that make me as happy as Vui's. My family & I have been regulars at this location for about a year now, and it never gets old. Vui's is consistently fresh, the service is reliably prompt, and the staff is above & beyond in their kindness! My go-to order is the chicken noodle bowl - it's a hearty serving of flavor, satisfying texture, and subtle spice (I like to kick up the spice with chili oil.) You really can't go wrong with your order... and I would know, I've tried the whole menu! xoxo, Lily

Yelp
Eaten at Vui's twice on a very positve recommenation. The first time was during the lunch hour. Place was busy with both inside and carryout diners. Food was served hot and our two meals were very tasty..a rice and a noodle bowl, about $30 with a drink. Our next meal was on Saturday mid-afternoon. The dining area was the same cool temperature as the food. Not an enjoyable experience for two unremarkable meals totaling around $25.

Bill B.

Yelp
We live close by, drive by this location all the time, and finally stopped for dinner. NEVER AGAIN! Fresh rolls had little or no shrimp in them. "Pho with chicken" had almost no chicken. 3 bowls of Pho with 3 fresh rolls for $50+? I'm rarely critical of restaurants but this one is a big fat "NO"!
google avatar

Mark J.

Yelp
Too many obscure beverages. Just give me a Coke. The sandwich, Bing Mi tasty, but needs more sauce. Great presentation. Friendly staff. Go check it out.
google avatar

Britt C.

Yelp
If you are in the market for super Americanized Pho-ish, this might be for you. Skip it if you are looking for authentic Pho. Positive: the staff was super nice and helpful
google avatar

Raven T.

Yelp
Sydney and Oscar exemplified charm and expertise in customer service. This was my first visit with my aunt. We will be back. The pho and noodle bowl are yummy and enough for take home. We sat on a clean patio with great music. Perfect spring eatery!
google avatar

Daria C.

Yelp
This is by FAR the best Pho I've ever had in my life ! A friend of mine ordered Vegan pho and edamame dumplings and I devoured everything. The service was swift and the ambiance was calm and relaxing ! I plan to return VERY SOON !
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
We had the beef pho and the chicken noodle bowl. Wonderful flavor and portion size! Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Joyce L.

Yelp
The place was so beautiful. But I think its too pricey. They would need to put more broth in their pho.
google avatar

Daisy M.

Yelp
Food is always delicious, staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It's pretty busy during lunch and close to dinner so get there before the rush. Very modern/casual feeling and very family friendly ! Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Yelp
The staff was friendly and helpful with navigating the menu. The food was fresh and delicious. We are happy to have a new restaurant to eat at.

Yelp
I used to go here all the time. Hadn't been in a while so I thought I'd go by and get some tonight. While most people will comment about the pho, I usually get the bahn mi, with tofu, because I'm vegetarian / vegan. It's nice having options like this. But, I remembered why it had been so long. It just wasn't that good. It has a lot of potential but there are three things that make it a work in progress. I will say the inside is very nice, the staff is very friendly, and the Tractor brand tea they sell is some of the best tea I have ever had, full stop. The bread is not baguette as they say, it is and always has been a hoagie roll. It is always so soggy on the bottom it falls apart. There is no way to pick it up and eat it as a sandwich - it all falls out the bottom. Second, the tofu has almost no flavor to it. Tofu is notoriously difficult to flavor but it can be done, and if you're going to serve it, it pays to fine tune the method. The creamy sauce or spread they use is great. But aside from that it tastes strongly of fresh greens and crunchy cold cucumber, radish, and carrot. The overall flavor is just cold, crunchy, slightly sweet and creamy, with no salt or umami to it at all. It's very thin flavor wise, with or without jalapeños. Thirdly, it's always burnt. Always. The bread goes beyond charred to being burnt on the inside and outside. Charred is a great complementary flavor alongside something stronger and richer, but with the vague sweet and creaminess, and the crunchiness of all the veggies - all pretty light flavors - it sticks out like a sore thumb.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
My food did not come to the table as ordered - it came out completely wrong even though the gentleman at the register wrote down my modifications on the order. Super disappointing. The flavors were lackluster, but the spot is cute.
google avatar

Hydration S.

Yelp
Just okay. I had the chicken pho. The broth, noodles, green onions, and jalapeños were all tasty. The chicken was not my favorite though. There was some flavor in it that I did not like. I'm glad I came here, but the pho just alright in my opinion.
google avatar

Hyoun K.

Yelp
I've been to the Vui's up in Nashville on Branford several times but business took me down to Franklin. I've been on a pho kick lately and was happy to see Vui's was in my old work stomping grounds. As always, the pho has a delicious full-flavored broth and you get a good quantity of it. It tastes fresh too compared to the whole-in-the-wall pho shops I go to around the area. The price is affordable for the food but the drinks will set you back since they are a la cart. I wish they'd get fountain drinks, because the amount of sambal & Sriracha sauces I dump in my pho is enough to require at least 24 ounces of a beverage. Either way, you can't go wrong!
google avatar

Lynn L.

Yelp
Not as good as it was when they opened. Food does not seem as if it is freshly prepared for each order. Specifically the spring rolls must have been fixed earlier in the day: ordered them twice in the past 6 months and the edges are hard and inedible. The pork belly boa buns are not hot, barely warm as if just reheated. Very disappointing.
google avatar

Stacey W.

Yelp
Food was great as always. Broth was good and hot. Wish they would include tendon, treet, and pork to menu for the PHO.
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
Excellent- the yumminess continues to Franklin! It is always so fresh and flavor packed! The edamame dumplings are one of my favorites! I tried the Steak Rice Bowl this time. It was not my favorite Vui's dish, but overall still an excellent experience. Try is out- it will not disappoint! Clean fresh new space.
google avatar

Amanda J.

Yelp
Good Vietnamese food. Fresh ingredients, tasty, but definitely not the best Ive had. Being from a town w/lil to no Vietnamese food...I make it point to sample out of town spots. I definitely thought its was good & better than none at all, but really found it quite lacking. Id give it a 3-3.5 stars. Not to be mean at all...just truthful. There are definitely more authentic spots w/a more diverse selection for those of us w/a diverse pallet. Would lobe to hear ur thoughts too.

Yelp
Covid-safety-careful Yelpers in search of convenience, this re-Vui's for you. Ups and Downs on the Star Scale of CSoSQFV First Up ...(Very Up)...is their rating for Convenience with a fast-loading web site containing great photos and a quick easy link to online ordering. Definitely 5-stars for us. Second ... 5 stars for Convenient Curbside pickup with 2 designated "Pick-Up Orders Only" spaces right outside the side doors to the restaurant. Make and color of your car on the receipts also helps server deliver your order. Third ... Speed of Service (SoS) perfect. Order on line and choose your time for pickup. I arrived 10 minutes ahead of schedule (not knowing how traffic would be)...BUT my order was delivered curbside within just a few minutes of my arrival. 5 more sparkles here. Quality ... First-rate high quality very fresh ingredients provide the base for the Pho add-ins. 5 stars. Pork Belly was nicely grilled and rich. Pate - ok. However, the baguette for the Bahn Mi was very disappointing. Even the looks gave away the "submarine sandwich-hoagie-hero-whatever" bread. It was definitely not a true-to-tradition, crunchy and crusty mini loaf. Would have been perfect for a Philly cheesesteak, but not for a Bahn Mi. 3 stars for this one. Flavors - Spot-on for the most part. My wife was very disappointed with the generous portion of Pho broth. For her it lacked any depth of flavor, while for me it was more of a meh, s'ok. I simply boosted mine with Hoisin and Chili. (And I liked the add-in sliced fresh jalapeños too.) Note: the add-in-at-the-table rice noodles got a little gummy packed on the bottom for the ride home. No biggie.) So, altogether, this dish gets 3 or "Pho-ur" of our stars. Tofu Spring Rolls with peanut-style sauce....very good. 5'er. Value - again, all things considered this was a pretty good deal. About 40 bucks plus tip for a filling, double order of Pho, good Spring Roll, and so-so Bahn Mi.
google avatar

Yelp
Vui's is great! Loved everything we ordered: the kitchen was doing some adds while we were here so everything was top notch I will be back to try it again. Tofu in Bahn Mi was a little thick but that's just my preference; it was a generous portion. I loved the pickled veggies and was glad I ordered extra! Kids loved the Bao buns, chicken/rice dish and Christie's cookies!

Melanie B.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! The food is amazing and you have a wonderful staff! The price is high but you should be prepared for that in a Franklin, TN area.

Alex L.

Yelp
I have been to Vui's Kitchen twice. Once a year ago when visiting and another today. The first time I went it was good. It felt like something that was okay but not as good as what I had back home in Houston. Today, it was excellent. I am unsure if they had changed any recipes or anything at all, or maybe it was my mindset but I can assure you that their banh mi is great. The pork belly is almost candied and has a nice melt in your mouth quality, I'd put that on any of their dishes to be honest. The bao was amazing as well. I doused mine in chili oil and it was very savoury with sweet undertones. The bao bun itself was not overly chewy nor too hard. It was a great appetiser. I do wish they had cafe sua da rather than the Vietnamese cold brew, though I understand the reasons behind it. The trend is nice but I much prefer the bitterness of the coffee with the overly sweet condensed milk over the cold brew and condensed milk, but it's a minor complaint. The staff have been nice and friendly both times and have kept the store clean both times. I haven't seen the store busy, so it is a great afternoon spot to visit for lunch. It is a bit pricey, but after eating there I can see that it's a little reasonable.

Esther H.

Yelp
Very good, fresh ingredients, I order the beef Pho! Not a fancy restaurant, but clean, good service, easy access, and most importantly, good food.
google avatar

Jazzy D.

Yelp
Good but be prepared to see nasty crusty sauce spoons and. Feel sticky bottles. The location is nice and people always nice.

Joe M.

Yelp
I really really really really really really really really really really really really really love this place! Great food, service and ambiance!! I always order the superb chicken noodle bowl. Solid beer selection, too. Edit: they should bring back trivia ):
google avatar

Dillon M.

Yelp
Definitely great tasting and delicious pho! Only reason I went 4/5 stars is because compared to other Vietnamese joints, the portion size was much smaller. Nevertheless, certainly coming back again.

Keo R.

Yelp
I ordered the vegan pho a few times and chicken dumplings once. Each time the broth was bland and tasteless. Also, the chicken dumplings were rock hard and the dipping sauce was extremely salty. Sad that when I am desperate for vegan pho, this is my only option in this area. I definitely do not recommend this place but I know I will end up ordering from UberEats from them again when I am in one of my desperate Vietnamese moods.
google avatar

John J.

Yelp
This place is clean and hip, a little bit out of the way perhaps but very good spot to get quick Pho. I had the original and the broth was very good. Vegetables all were inside the soup when we got it except for lime, but it was good as I never use lime. The amount was just enough (perhaps on the small side, but the bowl make it look really big) and the thinly sliced meat was tender. The Pho wasn't very hot, so it was very easy to eat. I also had chicken dumplings on the side. The price is so so, but I would like to see a bit more out of it to really like the place.
google avatar

Charles P.

Yelp
Come on, So trying to eat healthy normally doesn't taste great and if it does, it doesn't look great. This place accomplishes both. The food was not only fresh as you would love to always have your veggies, they seemed to be the top of the crop. I had the shrimp and lotus root salad and while I have travelled all throughout Asia, as well as Vietnam, I had to remind myself of what is lotus root. It was combined with lemongrass poached shrimp, specialty fresh herbs, shallots and crushed peanuts, offered with fried egg as an option topped with a Chile lime dressing. Truly refreshing and the combined tastes and texture were outstanding. Again, I had a side of summer spring rolls. I have had these often. The difference is, the mix of spices and flavorings and the overwhelming quality of the freshness. This places hits on all taste cylinders. It is spotless, it has all the safety protocols in place if you are worried, the service is excellent. Oh, and by the way, kudos to my middle son Dylan who is your typical meat and potatoes guy. He raved about it until I visited.
google avatar

Falin G.

Yelp
I tried this place for the first time yesterday and really wanted to like it. The fresh ingredient concept is always a good one, but missed the mark a little here. I had the chicken pho, while my friends had the vegan pho. Let's just say, the chicken one left a lot of flavor to be desired. It appears they have scaled down their menu, as I remember more items being on it last time I looked at the menu.
google avatar

Ladan R.

Yelp
Amazing food! Super fresh and delicious. We ordered the Vui's salad and noodle bowl for delivery and it arrived just as if we ordered it at the restaurant. Everything was hot, super fresh and beautifully packed. The sauces are incredible.
google avatar

Roger M.

Yelp
The food is fresh and delicious. You must give them a try, if you haven't. Service is typically fast food fare by friendly teenagers.
google avatar

Cissy W.

Yelp
Stopped by for the "soft opening" this evening. There was a steady flow of others doing the same but was pleased to see staff very conscious of cleanliness and use of facial coverings. I ordered the Shrimp & Lotusroot salad. Outstanding! The Lemongrass poached shrimp was very tasty, not overwhelmed in the seasoning, great flavor for the shrimp. Salad was fresh, all ingredients spot on and served with a Chili Lime Dressing that was so good, I think it would brighten any dish! Husband had the Noodle Bowl with Shrimp. Also gave it high marks, Shrimp, same salad dressing but his noodles were perfectly done. Also got a Summer Roll. Loved the peanut sauce this comes with and the roll was fresh and tasty as well. Staff was very professional. Admittedly the wearing of masks by staff makes speech a bit difficult to understand but we are all learning some new things. Asking for info to be repeated is a small price to pay for a pleasant dining experience. This is an order at the counter spot and they bring your meal. Located right across from the Lifetime Fitness in Franklin, this should be a great location. I know we'll be back!

Marco V.

Yelp
Food, Service and ambiance is amazing. I always come here for some soup and sandwich. Everything I have ordered is always delicious. No complaints on my end.
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
Worst pho I've ever had. Why is the price so high for hot water and rice noodles? The dumplings were okay but 5 LITTLE DUMPLINGS FOR 10$??? Crazy.

John A.

Yelp
When Vuis first opened in Berry Hill it was delicious. The Beef quality now is like dog food quality. The soup came out cold with half the flavor it used to have. No reason to ever return to this place.
google avatar

Greg S.

Yelp
Second time in. Pho both times and my better half tried a sandwich and slaw. Pho is a full bowl of noodles and stuff. Not as much broth as others. Honestly they brag about the broth but I find it a little weak. Still a solid bowl of soup. Service is friendly and quick, so I'm a fan.
