My brother recommended I try out W Brazilian Steakhouse, so I decided to go when I had to make a trip to LA anyway to drop off someone at UCLA. They offer lunch on weekdays for a slightly cheaper price, $32.99 instead of $39.99 for dinner as of December 2022. Great value overall, and still all-you-can-eat.
There is a small parking lot nearby, but I was able to find metered street parking in front of the restaurant. The interior is quite small, with only 7-8 tables total. It was not too busy when we went at 1:45PM on Monday though (last seating at 2PM, they close between lunch and dinner with lunch ending at 2:30PM).
Service was attentive, not overly friendly but okay. The Asian (Korean?) owner must have spent a good amount of time in Brazil, as he conversed in Portuguese with some of the guests.
As others have mentioned, there are only a handful of cuts of meat, 8 during my visit (7 on the menu + bonus Tri-tip). However, the quality of the meats was excellent, with all the meats super juicy and not overly salty. The edges were also nice and crisp without being too charred. Baby beef was the thickest cut, and one of my favorites, but all of the meats were very tasty. The food was definitely 5-star, better than a lot of the meats I have had at the bigger Brazilian barbecue chains.
The side dishes were also decent, especially the creative cheese bread waffle, a unique shape for pão de queijo. Side dishes came around on a cart and were served at the table, with unlimited refills. I was missing my grilled bananas, and the stroganoff and creamed corn were definitely on the sweeter side, but the pickled onions, sauce, hot sauce, and chimichurri were flavorful and showcased a hint of Korean flavors. The water also came in a carafe typical of most Korean restaurants.
There was only one gaucho for the whole restaurant when we dined, but he was working diligently to get around to all the tables.
Highly recommend for a different Brazilian barbecue experience, and to support a smaller mom-and-pop place. Just be forewarned that it's a tiny place!
