Where to Stay in Brisbane When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"As a five-star option in the CBD, I find W Brisbane stylishly designed with three restaurants and bars, a spa and fitness center, a river-view pool, and spacious funky rooms with deep bathtubs, rainfall showers, Nespresso machines and large flat-screen TVs." - Matthew Kepnes

Review: W Brisbane, Australia - SilverKris

"Arriving as the city's first five-star hotel in 20 years, this property injected giddy glamour and a nightlife-driven energy into the local scene. Nic Graham themed the interiors around “A River Dreaming,” using reed-like timber fittings, neon-lit elevators, reflective walls, iridescent lighting and rich-patterned carpets, while propulsive dance music animates the public areas. Rooms carry the theatrical approach with birdcage-like wardrobes, outback-style bathtubs and VJ-board walls inspired by traditional Queenslander bungalows, most offering views over the Brisbane River and cultural precinct. Practical luxuries include preset lighting options, GHD hairdryers, Bowers & Wilkins Bluetooth sound systems and 55-inch LED TVs, and the complex houses multiple dining and drinking outlets plus an on-site spa with city views." - Matt Shea

I tell everyone about this hotel. We stayed for a staycation for our elopement in the city in September. We did not expect to have such an amazing time. The team surprised us with balloons, chocolate, and champagne in the room when we came back. They also upgraded our room for free. It was so thoughtful and surprising. Everyone was kind and polite. The facilities were incredible. We enjoyed the Wet Deck and spa facilities. We also really loved buffet breakfast. The decor of the hotel is adventurous and the artistic choices are unique. This is the best hotel I've been to (which includes other countries) and I have such fond memories here.

Absolutely beautiful — I absolutely love it here! The reception was 5-star. The lady at the front desk was so lovely, welcoming, friendly, and really represented the hotel well. She was also very kind and chatty. The rooms are beautiful — I enjoyed every inch of the room 🙂 The room service was excellent and the food was brought up professionally. I even loved the breakfast 😋I look forward to coming back, hopefully for 3–4 days next time! I also love the location — it’s walking distance to everything, with attractions nearby. And the views from every corner of the hotel are just stunning. Highly recommend!

What a truly wonderful hotel. The type of hotel that see in exotic movies and wish you were there. A place of sophisticated pleasure. Unmatched service, cleanliness and luxe extraodinaire. Impeccable service, delightful and delicious food, imaginative drink creations, ahh. Your accommodation needs are addressed to perfection. Spotlessly clean rooms many with fantastic views overlooking Brisbane's best sights and not just the city views. For the perfect stay in Brisbane this is the place you choose, enjoy yourself.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ W Brisbane Stayed here recently and honestly had a fantastic experience. I booked a Spectacular King Room with River View (around $589 for the night) and it absolutely delivered. The view over the Brisbane River is unreal — especially in the afternoon and evening when the city lights come on. Easily one of the better river outlooks in the CBD. The room itself was spotless, well laid out and felt genuinely premium without being over the top. Everything worked, everything was clean, and the space felt calm and considered — exactly what you want after a long day. What really stood out though was the staff. Every interaction was smooth, friendly and professional. No forced niceties, no attitude — just good, confident hospitality. It’s clear the team is well trained and supported, and it shows in how effortlessly the hotel runs. Check-in and check-out were seamless, the building is in a great spot on North Quay, and the whole experience felt easy and well managed from start to finish. This is a very well-run hotel with a strong team behind it. I’d happily stay again and would confidently recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality Brisbane stay with a great view.

I really enjoyed my time here. The customer service was exceptional, and the breakfast at the Lex was unbelievable. Location was very walkable. The only thing I’d say is the bathroom doesn’t offer much privacy, you can see a figure through the glass. If you don’t mind that, this is definitely a hotel to make you comfortable.

We had an amazing stay! The staff were all incredibly friendly and professional, and they even added a surprise plate of desserts for my husband’s birthday. I had arranged birthday balloons through the hotel, and they placed them beautifully in the room prior to our arrival — such a lovely touch. The AWAY Spa, with its steam room, sauna and spa, was a peaceful escape and felt like a real treat. The wet area, pool and bar were super trendy, and we loved sipping cocktails while watching the sun go down. The bar food was reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. Our room had a fantastic view and lots of fabulous touches, like electric curtains and mood lighting controls right by the bed. The only minor downside was that room service didn’t come until 5:30pm, though the hotel appeared to be at full occupancy, so it’s understandable. Overall, a wonderful stay — highly recommend!

It seems like one of the best hotels in Brisbane and has a great view. The breakfast was not as good as expected, with nothing particularly special. The restaurant staff were friendly, but we didn’t really feel the same level of friendliness from the reception staff. The pool is small but convenient to use, and the pool bar food was quite good.

I booked two rooms in the same category: superior river front. One king, the other two doubles. Both are on the same floor. The king room has large floor to ceiling windows with sweeping river views. The double room has a rounded, obstructed window that partially faces apartment building next door. I addressed the issue with the front desk staff but no solution was offered. The front desk claimed that the assigned room is considered river front. Please see the pictures and judge for yourself. IMO there is no way this room should be characterized as such. There was no turn down service either. Also, if you like W hotels and are hoping for your standard stylish, relaxing, adult experience, know that this place is overrun with children. The pool this afternoon was worse than your regular Disney hotel. There was no DJ, no cocktails, just a ton of kids in diapers🙄
