"Arriving as the city's first five-star hotel in 20 years, this property injected giddy glamour and a nightlife-driven energy into the local scene. Nic Graham themed the interiors around “A River Dreaming,” using reed-like timber fittings, neon-lit elevators, reflective walls, iridescent lighting and rich-patterned carpets, while propulsive dance music animates the public areas. Rooms carry the theatrical approach with birdcage-like wardrobes, outback-style bathtubs and VJ-board walls inspired by traditional Queenslander bungalows, most offering views over the Brisbane River and cultural precinct. Practical luxuries include preset lighting options, GHD hairdryers, Bowers & Wilkins Bluetooth sound systems and 55-inch LED TVs, and the complex houses multiple dining and drinking outlets plus an on-site spa with city views." - Matt Shea
