The location of this hotel is its only real advantage. Being beachfront was nice, and the beach chair and umbrella amenities were good. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
The service was extremely disappointing. As a Marriott Gold status member, I am entitled to a 2 PM late checkout, yet this was not honored or even offered. Instead, I was forced to check out at 12 PM, which was frustrating and made us feel undervalued as loyal Marriott guests. To make matters worse, at 11:30, the staff came into our room unannounced, expecting us to be out, even though they told us 12.
There were two incidents with the staff as well. We were simply taking a picture in the lobby and a staff member yelled at us and told us we had to ask for permission to take a picture. We had also door dashed some food and as we walked by a staff member, they made an extremely racist comment to us saying “oh did you get your curry and chicken tikka masala” just because we were Indian. We were left completely in shock.
The room experience was also problematic. At one point, the toilet stopped flushing due to a clog, which is unacceptable for a hotel that advertises itself as a luxury 5-star property. Even worse, when we first arrived, the room smelled strongly of cigarettes, which triggered allergies for my wife.
The cleaning staff was rude and intrusive, attempting to clean the room while we were still inside. Communication was very difficult, as the staff member was rude and did not speak English, making the interaction uncomfortable and unprofessional.
One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the Wet Deck, which was advertised as a highlight of the property—yet it was closed during our stay with no clear explanation.
Another inconvenience: there are no ice machines on the guest floors, something even basic motels provide. You have to call the front desk to request ice. When I did, no one showed up for over 30 minutes, and I had to call again—only to be asked if I could come downstairs to get it myself.
For the price paid, this hotel is absolutely not worth it. Aside from the beach view, the service, amenities, and overall experience fall far short of what’s expected from a luxury Marriott property. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
