"Perhaps one of the coolest Halloween-themed dinners happening around town this year is at the W, which is hosting “Murder In the Quarter: Murder Mystery Dinner” on Sunday, October 30. The interactive dinner experience takes place at 3rd Block Depot in the hotel, with a specially curated menu by chef Nick Ocheltree. Reserve your spot on OpenTable for $97.75 per guest." - Clair Lorell

"Previously known as the Hotel de la Poste, the 97-room property transitioned to the W French Quarter in 2000 and has since undergone a $9-million overhaul. The newly redesigned rooms channel the city’s jazz and voodoo culture, while the new bar and restaurant, SoBou, serves modern Creole fare and has an excellent cocktail program run by Laura Bellucci. Another addition with the renovation, which was completed in 2012, is the FIT gym, open to guests 24 hours a day. Of course, one of the hotel’s main selling points is its central location on charming Chartres Street, which is lined with antique shops, art galleries, vintage book stores, and the like. And should you want a quiet corner to while away the afternoon, the hotel’s outdoor courtyard is the perfect place to do so."

"What were your first impressions? One of the few modern hotels in the historic French Quarter, the W stands out while still managing to hide its secrets beyond its forecourt. Out front, windows offer a peek into the sleek lobby, living room–like reception area, and restaurant within. In all, this is about as chill a spot as you’ll find one block from Bourbon Street. What's the backstory? There were previously two W hotels in New Orleans. The larger was converted to a Le Meridien some years ago, and this resort-style, smaller property remained as a W. Interior design choices reflect jazz and tarot cards, imprinting a sense of place. How are the rooms? Our Wonderful room—the name for a standard king—was tarot themed, with dark carpets and bright blue walls complementing the cabana-fringed pool area out back, visible through wide-slatted blinds. Large murals with tarot card details dominated the walls and the Starwood Signature bed was a welcome, cozy touch. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?Marriott Bonvoy members get free Wi-Fi; otherwise, there’s a charge. It was perfectly fine. What do they have for food and drink?SoBou, the restaurant and bar named for the neighborhood—South of Bourbon—comes from good stock as part of the Brennan group. The menu celebrates Creole and Cajun influences in an innovative way—think whimsical, seasonal takes on beignets. The cocktail program is among the best in town, and Sunday daytimes are especially lively. How was the service? The service has the laid-back formality that W does so well. The staff know what’s happening all over town and can recommend dining beyond their own restaurant. Who stays here?W seems to attract a crowd of stylish guests in their late 20s and early 30s. These are folks who don’t like too much stuffiness or fuss, but still appreciate being taken care of without any fanfare. What about the neighborhood? The modern hotel isn’t typical of the French Quarter—it's not 300 years old—but it sits between boutiques and galleries and it doesn’t stick out. Any other special features? The back patio area is the main draw for this hotel. The lovely pool itself is surrounded by a dozen cabanas—perfect for lazing on a steamy New Orleans summer day away. Beautiful wrought iron fences remind you where you are. What's the bottom line? This is a slice of resort life in the middle of the French Quarter." - Paul Oswell

Went for a quick getaway and gotta say, use the Amex Hotel Collection. Pros: We got an upgraded room, dining credit, and late checkout, which was nice. The room was big and had a balcony, which was nice at night to unwind. The pool is heated and open late, which was an added bonus. And the courtyard is super cute. Cons: The staff were very hit-or-miss in terms of customer service. They just weren't very welcoming and seemed to enjoy their jobs. Valet was great. The restaurant was also disorganized and lacking in service. Overall, I say it's worth the money if you get perks with your stay.

Google
Great hotel with comfortable beds! Came here for a night with my husband and daughters, truly a nice place! Location is perfect as you can walk anywhere from the hotel. We were able to walk to a great Cajun restaurant, stop at a milkshake place and head back. Service and cleanliness are wonderful. I would definitely stay here again!

The rooms were fantastic. Very chic ... very contemporary. Very clean. The location is right in the middle of the French Quarter. Everything is within walking distance of this hotel. Although there might be bigger / better hotels in the same price range but all of them don't have such easy access to everything. Having said that, the service got a 2 because the staff was a little mixed bag. There were a lot of new people working which was fine. But they were left to figure things out on their own. We arrived at 6 pm and we were told that they had our reservation but our room wasn't ready. AT 6 PM!! After about a 20 min struggle, a supervisor came in and sorted the issue. Similar issue during breakfast. New staff does something wrong .... supervisor comes and fixes it. One observation is that the new staff, although mistake ridden, are very courteous, very nice .. very apologetic and want to be there. The tenured staff were always a little mad ...were a little rude ... didn't feel the need to apologize for anything and always seemed like they didn't want to be there at all. This doesn't seem like an individual problem ... it seems like a site manager problem. Apart from this observation, our entire stay was fantastic. This hotel has the BEST beignet in town!!!

While the room lacked a microwave and refrigerator, the hotel's location was ideal. Valet parking was convenient, and I felt secure knowing my car was in their gated parking garage in the same hotel building. The service was good, but the room was small. The decor was good.

Google
I agree with some of the other reviewers, this hotel is not consistent with the W brand. It is not as pictured on the website- the pool and pool area are TINY, the rooms look nice online but are falling apart (things falling off the walls, dirty shower curtains, dead plants) and VERY dark. Some of staff (valet, room attendant, bartender) were great but we barely got our room serviced our entire stay. We had to keep chasing down cleaning staff to get more towels since the shower doesn’t drain properly so gets water all over the floor. However, they were banging down our door to get us out of the room at 11am on departure day even though we have Marriott Bonvoy status (I.e. late check out and had stayed there a week). Would not recommend at all- not worth the price and definitely not a 4star hotel.

Google
Our stay was from 12/29-1/2. We realize that with NYE and the CFP game the hotel was going to have an influx of people, but for the amount of money we spent, the service we received just didn’t match up. We arrived at 1pm and the room wasn’t ready (no issue since we knew check in was at 4pm) we were able to leave our bags and walk around for a bit. We came back at 4:15pm and the room still wasn’t ready, again not a big deal since we knew there are a ton of people here. We go to the bar next door and have a few drinks and 5:30pm rolls around and I still have not been contacted about my room being ready, so I go to the front desk and ask, but it is still not ready. At this point I’m visibly agitated. I walk back to the bar and 15 minutes later someone from the front desk comes up to me to let me know that the room I booked would not be ready for another half hour at the minimum, but they have another room on the same floor that is ready if I want that. I asked him what the difference was and he said there was no difference. At this point it was almost 6pm and we had dinner plans at 7pm so I took the room so we could get settled and ready for dinner. The next morning something wasn’t sitting well with me so I went online to look at the room that was given to us vs what we booked and prepaid for and the room they gave us was a lower tier. So not only did we not get the room we booked, the person at the front desk lied to me when I asked what the difference was. I then had to go back down to the front desk and ask them to refund me the difference. There wasn’t a manager in to approve this so I had to wait until later that evening and check with the front desk again. In the end they were able to do it, but it was just a hassle. That night there was also no hot water in our room, so we had to take cold showers before we went out. My friends also tried to order champagne and strawberries to our room one of the mornings and she told me she had to reach out to the front desk several times the day before since no one ever called her back. If this wasn’t branded as a “luxury” hotel I would be able to look past most of this (except the front desk associate lying to my face about the different rooms), but this was a special trip we planned for my birthday and it was just not up to the standards we expect from the W brand.

Google
My partner and I travel a lot and are pretty loyal to Marriott hotels, and we wanted to splurge a little during our short vacation in New Orleans. The location of the W was perfect, it was close to everything in the French Quarter but it was quiet and secluded at the hotel. We had a few disappointments. There were some sneaky fees- several extra were added to my reservation including an “optional” donation that I did not approve. We were also told that we had a $60 credit for the restaurant because of the “resort fee” we’d paid (which I also did not knowingly sign up for) and then they tried to only credit us $30 of that for the mediocre and overpriced dinner we had there. They said they'd adjust it but as far as I can tell, they have not. Lastly, our room was pretty nice, but we reserved a king room months in advance and they gave us a double queen. It was also extremely moist in the room (all my clothes were damp upon leaving), and we found ants in the bed. Overall, the great location made me look past a lot of these issues but I'll likely try a different hotel in the area next time.

Google
This hotel should not have the 'W' name on it. It doesn't even feel like a hotel. The tiny, non-existent lobby sets the mood. It's more like a motel. There's no where to sit in relax on the property unless you are in the restaurant. You'll notice a rundown tiny motel looking pool in the middle of the hotel. The rooms are extremely small...and I mean small, with very low ceilings and no drawers whatsoever to put your clothes in. Other than a tiny closet with no shelves, there is no place to unpack your clothes. Also, when the A/C ran it smelled like mildew and mold in the room. It was not air that you wanted to breathe in. We called the front desk to complain, but they offered no solutions other than letting us leave early, which we did! We actually checked out of the hotel and went to another one that was actually half the price and much, much newer, cleaner, roomier and what you would have expected from the W, which they were charging over $600/night. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here!

Yelp
QUICKIE REVIEW Clean, comfortable, and convenient. PARKING No self-parking. SERVICE Didn't use any. ROOM Arguably one of the smallest rooms I stayed at in America--or at least felt that way due to the room layout. That said, it is a great stay. Bed is super comfy. Shower had nice, strong pressure. Room was clean. PRICE Around $200-ish (I came off season back in August) OTHER THOUGHTS Location, location, location. This hotel is located in a prime location of French quarter where you can easily walk to anywhere within 20 minutes. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
This is not the typical modern/cool W Hotel nor experience. The building is historical, so it does not have modern architectural features; unfortunately, the inside is lacking and old. It appears very little has been done to bring the interior up to date; there is an old/damp smell in the hallways, 2nd and 4th floor. My original My room on the second floor was great, but the bathroom was dated with orange tiled shower walls and peeling paint in the ceiling from moisture. Again, not rhetorical typical W Hotel experience because the service was severely disappointing- the only redemption was the hotel manager and the 2nd floor housekeeper; they were great. The front desk and restaurant staff were doing the bare minimum to assist.

Kerra S.

Yelp
The staff was amazing, but that was the only good part of my experience here. (I usually love W, and stay often in Austin.. but this one was not the same ) We paid $375 a night, and were incredibly underwhelmed. The room was tiny, outdated, and should have been priced around $120 a night. We ended up leaving and getting a new hotel. It was $160 a night and twice the size. I would not advise staying here unless you want to bleed your wallet dry for no reason! Tons of other great hotels in the area for half the price.

Yelp
We stayed here for 3 nights on our recent Memorial day weekend trip. Our flight got in late Friday night and we were quickly checked in by the very pleasant front desk staff member. She was so sweet & considerate, she made the process quick and pain free. We stayed in a king balcony suite with a view of the french quarter. We loved the room. Aside from the room AC being very loud, we were pleased with the room. The room was clean & well taken care of during our stay. I echo what a lot of other reviews say, the hotel is a little underwhelming amenities wise, in the sense that the pool area is tiny, there is no bar, and aside from the inside courtyard, there is no areas available to socialize and enjoy the hotel.

Karen M.

Yelp
Terrible Hospitality, quality of rooms, service, and availability. They gave us a single bed room when we ordered for a two bed room for our children. It took forever to fix then they booked our new room for only a single night instead of a week which kicked us from our room. Terrible hospitality in their part.

Karen O.

Yelp
I stayed at the W for 3 nights and it was very comfortable and convenient. The room was clean and modern. I enjoyed using the Nespresso machine in the room. There's a $27 daily resort charge but you can use it in the restaurant (which I DO NOT recommend - it's the worst food I had on the trip). I recommend using it on the Joieful Tour gift cards which were very fun. The only downside of this hotel was the restaurant, which you can avoid.

Yvonne R.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay here. Taylor, the bartender, was a vibe. The rooms are small and outdated but the location is good. I think it used to be a Springhill hotel. It was a within a good walking distance to everything we wanted to do, if not, we used uber. The food was so good that I willingly tried boudin with cracklin. the gumbo was was good also. really everything we ordered was very good. We had several hiccups ..... we found a dead roach in my glass of alcohol the next morning. THE manager stated roaches are normal in NO, lol. I obviously didn't believe that because I've been to NO numerous of times without seeing a roach in my room. Oh, they had a gnat problem in the dining room and bar area. I was swatting during the entire meal and even changed locations within the dining area each day to no prevail. Jasmine and Mark were very helpful.

Yelp
I was staying with a friend of mine in New Orleans for JazzFest when I visited another friend who was staying at the W. on Chartres in the French Quarter. I've been here 17 times for jazz fest so I'm long past the way people here mangle the French names. My friend liked her room and we had a fantastic meal at SoBou which I have previously reviewed. The location is great, the courtyard and pool is lovely and we spent some down time relaxing from the normal mayhem of the quarter before resuming our journey through this wondrous but hectic city. Sitting in the courtyard was an oasis in the Quarter and deserves its five stars.

Janelle J.

Yelp
Thai W was very disappointing, I've stayed in quite a few in different locations and this was by far the worst. They're getting 2 starts only because the staff was kind, but if I could give 0 based on the room I would. It was just dark, I'm not sure what style they were going for because it wasn't modern and it wasn't Nola chic. I'll be at Virgin hotel next time I visit Nola, my friend stayed there and I was so jealous of her room when I visited

Mel M.

Yelp
I've stayed all over the French Quarter and outside of the Quarter. The W is an awesome choice. Why? Coz you are footsteps away from all the action. If you're a platinum member then you can choose to have breakfast at Sobou which is so delish! Walking around most likely tipsy from morning to night the W is a great place to go back to and unwind. The pool is a welcoming sight especially if it's been humid all day. It's the W so expect nothing but trendy modern sleek design. Quirky at times but still nice ambiance to be surrounded by. My room was very comfy. Lucky enough to be able to be in New Orleans again and again and lucky enough to be able to stay at the W. Check in and check out was flawless. The front desk was professional and nice people to chat with. Look forward to staying at the W again. Mel M Yelp 20:24

Yelp
Let me start by saying I love the W hotel brand and was really excited to book a romantic anniversary kid-free stay-cation in the French Quarter with the hubby. We reserved the suite for our special weekend, a 1 bedroom studio suite in an historic carriage house with a private courtyard and private hot tub. So you can imagine our disappointment when the hotel called a day or two before to let us know that the water was out in the carriage house and all the suites were closed. We still went ahead with our weekend at the W in the quarter. You can't beat the location for a weekend in the quarter. The hotel is so close to everything making it so easy to spend the weekend walking around. When we got to the hotel, the front desk receptionist was warm and welcoming and apologized for the water being out. She had to get a manager to approve a different room and a different rate which took a bit longer than expected given that they had called two days previously to let us know that our room would not be available. We popped our head into the hotel bar/restaurant Sobu and got excited about our dinner reservations there later in the evening (get the tuna cone item!) The hotel made up for our disappointment by providing a surprise bottle of champagne which was a really nice touch. The room and decor seems a bit dated compared to my other W hotel experiences but we enjoyed the inner courtyard and pool. The mini bar made it seem like the hotel was a place for people to come to the quarter and party hard so we were pleasantly surprised that we were able to sleep through the night without noise disturbances. We would come back but would love to see the hotel updated to match other W hotel experiences before we return.

Vanessa R.

Yelp
The hotel bathroom was very outdated and dirty. We asked for another room to which they said they would let us know and never did. The fire alarm went off after I turned on the water to shower and it went off for over 5 min. I attempted to call the front desk to ask them to turn the alarm off or to come and assist with the issue and the phone did not work. We had to personally go down and let them know our alarm went off, this was after the fire alarm was going off for over 3 min at this point. After WE told them they let us know someone would be up to check on it. No one ever came up. The room decor was nice but the sheets were stained upon arrival.

Pat B.

Yelp
This hotel is right in the middle of everything in the French Quarters. My very first night I had a warm welcome by Brett. My room was spacious, air conditioning was fantastically cold. The housekeeping can use a few more eyes and hands. If I can see the dust, so can they but I didn't allow this to ruin my trip. I would recommend this hotel as the good far outweigh the small things. However I would encourage the OWNERS to inspect what they too expect. I only stay at Marriot properties when traveling domestically and internationally.

Chet M.

Yelp
Never again. For the price I paid per night around $450 (stayed 2 nights). Horribly underwhelmed, I have stayed at other W's and this did not feel like a W. In my opinion I should have been $120 a night for the room I got. Place is run down, old, and in my opinion a two star hotel at best. Four words, underwhelmed and over priced. It is my fault that I booked here, but I was basing it on my stay at other W's. I will never stay here again at this specific W. I would not recommend any staying here, unless you want to over pay to stay at a two star hotel. This hotel gives W a bad reputation. Book elsewhere for the money.

Raquia D.

Yelp
Recently I booked a five night stay at this hotel based on my previous experience at The W New Orleans. Initially, my expectations were met or exceeded by the front office staff, namely Rashad. The welcome drink is also a nice touch. (You can request those drinks throughout the day!) My party and I were also pleased with the service we received from the valet staff, namely Mark and Jeremy. Beyond those departments, we found our experience mediocre and below average at best sadly. The Bad/Ugly: Though we requested that our room be cleaned, it was not--in a five-day stay. We were actually told on one day that there would be no one to clean our room one hour later when we left at approximately10:30AM when we asked the young lady to return but saw several housekeeping staff persons on our floor throughout the day. So we decided to make a request When we specifically requested that the room be cleaned, the front office staff person we spoke with used a condescending tone and scoffed when stating that of course our room would be cleaned, and as I have stated, it was not. Allow me to also point out that the state the room was in upon arrival was subpar at best. There were large, old wine stains on the floor, lipstick stains on the shutters, and the cabinet for the refrigerator did not close properly...(see pics) just to name a few cleanliness/room issues. We accepted that, but became more and more infuriated as our stay continued by the lack of respect shown to us by the staff. The housekeeping staff uses the same elevator as the guests and makes no attempt to yield to the guest or hold the elevator as they exit with huge carts...allowing the doors to close. They were also not pleasant or appropriately attired--often wearing scarves used to sleep on their heads as they worked. We also were approached on one evening by a young lady who was not wearing a visible name tag to take our keys for the vehicle during shift change. I could actually go on, but feel that this should illustrate the terrible stay and experience we had. For the price...the experience should be on par with a four star hotel...and it is NOT. The location is ideal but you will not receive what you paid for.

Yelp
I loved my stay at the W Hotel! It is the definition of Dog Friendly which is perfect for us since Laquita in the quarter decided to ban dogs. The W has some of the friendliest staff, and wonderful service. Every night in December they served delicious hot chocolate and cookies. They had the most adorable dog gift basket for my little guy as well. The rooms are obviously older but remodeled and clean. We will be back for sure.

Yelp
Since New Orleans can be hot as fire in the summertime, I'm always looking for a pool to cool off in and get some sun. We purchased the resort pass online for $20 per person. Make sure you buy them before 10:30am because the website stops letting you by them after that time. The $20 pass included access to the pool and a $15 food and drink credit which can be used at the restaurant located next to the lobby and right next to the pool. This was great because that gave us $30 between two people to use on drinks. We went ahead purchases a pitcher so we didn't have to keep going inside. I'd recommend bringing a coverup that's easy to throw on since you will have to go inside the restaurant/bar to order drinks and food. The pool was small but there were only about 4 or 5 other people at the pool. There were enough loungers for everyone. The pool has a relaxing atmosphere and we enjoyed our day!

Yelp
Do not stay here. I wish I would have really paid attention to some of these reviews. This is my first night here and I already want to check out. The beds are very firm and pillows awkwardly large. I couldn't use them to sleep. I used my travel pillow to sleep and woke up with body aches. The rooms are dingy and hotel is outdated.

Jen F.

Yelp
I'm staying here right now. 1) looking at the bathroom from the bed: it is floor to ceiling frosted glass so if you are sharing the room, it offers barely the minimum privacy for relieving yourself. 2) the bedspread has holes in it. 3) there were Mardi Gras beads in the corner of the room. Mardis Gras was last week.

Doug W.

Yelp
I hate to see the low star rating but some reviews do make valid points on the matter. My experience differs greatly however. I pulled in from a very long road trip from NY to a four day weekend of camping and not showering at Bonnaroo. The weekend was fantastic so why not continue down and hit 'Nawlins'... of course stopping at Jack Daniels distillery on the way and making it to town around midnight. We hit the room and were quickly impressed with the vibe. The hotel was slick and cool. The room was great and the beds were a god send after those brutal tent nights in Tennessee. The shower, it was fine, but each one of us felt it was the best hot shower of our lives. (I've got a few naked pix in the bathroom since they had a grayed out bow-tie embedded in the mirror; I won't post them but I was entertained) We Instantly headed out to the bars during the city's off season. First stop was around the corner where we got expensive drinks, we hit the town hopping from bar to bar, sparing you the crazy details of the night as it's a review for the hotel, my buddy and I got split up, neither of us had operable phones anymore, i stumbled out of a bar with some girl after the sun was up and not a single place was open to grab breakfast or ask where my hotel was. Finally around the corner I saw the blue lights of the parking/pull up area. I made it back where the front desk greeted me nicely and promptly made me a new key... I lost that one in the way to the room somehow but remembered our window to the courtyard was unlocked- how convenient. The courtyard of this hotel was gorgeous, 3 levels, a pool level with a free vodka tasting at the time, a 2nd level with a fire featured water fountain (badass) and a third level with loungers and a couch (we enjoyed our bottle of jack here as it was right outside our room window.) There's a conference area to the rear past a few sets of double doors and a guy from Texas joined us for a shot. The hotel just breathes that jazzy southern energy. If you stay at the W all the rooms are designed a little different, every floor a different theme, I love that kind of stuff. Go to the restaurant attached! Trust me. They may be pricey but wow! We got the Foie Gras burger which was to die for, a short rib dish with ghost chili cotton candy and a gentleman down the bar hear us talking about the gator sausage, cut his in half, and slid it down to us. That guy was awesome and so was this gator sausage. Omg! What an amazing trip amplified by The W hotel.

Yelp
What makes this hotel great is its location. It is inside the French Quarter but outside the high noise level of Bourbon street. Its the best of all worlds. The staff were very welcoming to me upon my arrival and my room was quite nice. That said, the hotel needs some updates as it feels like a W that was trendy ten years ago and now is just dated. However, I would return for the location alone.

John D.

Yelp
So disgusted and dissatisfied and disappointed. First night discovered dirty sheets under the covers... wth??? I came back at 3 am and just had to sleep... And worse, second day they didn't even clean it but just tucked it under the cover again. I had to call front desk to exchange sheets.

Matt B.

Yelp
STAY AWAY! So so so incredible disappointed in this hotel. I have stayed at W Hotels all over the world and this hands down was the worst. Call ask about the room and the guy on the "Ricky or Jeffery" can't remeber the name. Couldn't care less about who we were or when were checking in and extremely dismissive. We go to check in. "Ricky or Jeffy" a bigger Asian guy gives us the WORST welcoming in existence. Come in and mention I'm here to check in. He asks the normal questions and is very obviously letting us know it's below him to check us in. Next asks if we have stayed at W hotels before let him know many times and he's says "well I won't waist my breath with you explaining anything" WOW. We ask him to explain where everything is and such. He rolls his eyes then rails through it like he doesn't care. Just so so so disappointing asking where to eat and anything and he doesn't care at all trying to get me to go away. Get to the room. A smells of mold. Then the desk and the drawers are falling off the wall. Then there is a empty condom wrapper left on the left side of the bed that we get to throw away. Go for a water and the Voss was already opened and def was not going to risk that. Towels had black marks and another had a blood stain look to it. GROSS. For $275 a night this was the WORST experience at a hotel I have ever had. We asked VERY VERY VERY VERY basic stuff with the worst responsive staff we have ever had a W in the world. Stay anywhere else this was such a bait and switch and you can tell the team DOES NOT CARE!

Yelp
The three stars I'm giving are for the hotel aesthetic and the staff, which were all so wonderful. The valet service was so kind and quick, the front desk was great; but there were too many little problems for me to give higher than 3 stars. There were no bathroom products in our room. Initially, that wasn't a big deal, we're all human, sometimes we space out; I tried to call down to the front desk, but the phone was dead. So I had to go physically go down to the front desk to get basic supplies. The thermostat was totally off; normally I like it around 70 degrees because my blood is not, but the temperature was so off I had to turn the thermostat down to 55 to get even remotely cool. The WiFi wasn't working the entirety of my stay, so not only was that just a basic inconvenience, but I could only watch the average live TV channels as opposed to the preferable On-Demand. The pool was strangely dirty; not as in naturally (there were a couple leaves on the bottom, but that doesn't bother me, it's impossible to keep an outdoor pool 100% clean), but there was some weird film on top of the water, it looked like saliva across the surface. The water was way too warm. At first I didn't think anything of it because again, my body temperature runs hot; but at one point I was reading on one of the lawn chairs and some girls came out to test the water; both dipped their hands in and went, "Ugh, no, way too hot." I understand having a heated pool, but in August, it's got to be relatively cool. I really wish I could give a good review because again, the hotel is very aesthetic and the staff is so great; but there were just so many little issues, I won't be returning.

Yelp
This place is okay. I'm not a high maintenance traveler, but the experience at this hotel is kinda sorry. Positive: -Cute little boutique hotel in a very convenient part of the French Quarter. -Close to Canal St as well as Bourbon, but located in a part of the Quarter that is not as rowdy, but still in the action -The Courtyard, pool and restaurant were all neat distractions when you are trying to relax -The Service of the staff was above average - I Liked the patio that overlooked the street. The Not So Good: -When I checked into my room the heat did not work. I took a nap and for the first 4 hours I was freezing. They did send someone up to fix the heater and offer me another room...but not the best start to a stay. -The bathrooms are way too small. -The interior of the hotel is kinda dated. -Seems like this place could be in line for a renovation -They overcharged me for the mini bar, by a pretty large amount. Was not that easy to call back and get the charge removed. This place is not bad, and seems like it would be a fun place during a festival......but overall this place is kinda average.

Yelp
I had THE most pleasant stay ever!!! I am soooo looking forward to being able to go back. The courtyard is lovely and the staff is pleasant and professional.

Yelp
Stayed here more then a few times when we come into New Orleans to visit family or when we bring too much family, this is a beautiful hotel we always have fantastic service beautiful rooms basic room still very good size and the breakfast is wonderful all sorts of southern breakfast items my favorite sausage and cheesy grits we all loved this dish so much we ordered it every morning all of us we just couldn't get enough. The location is perfect just a block or two away from bourbon street. And it's across the street from the Harris casino and hotel and it's in the French quarters so convenient to everything you want to see, Jackson square the French Market, moon walk, garden district and of course too many spectacular restaurants here that are some good y'all cheers SYOY

Yelp
I had an amazing time at the W this past weekend. It's true, the rooms could use a bit of a refresh - but it's totally fine considering all of the other great things about this place. First off, I need to give a shout out to the amazing Debbie at the front desk. She was so nice and answered every request and really went above and beyond. I will return on my next visit just for her! All of the other staff were super friendly as well. A really great team. Second, the location is perfect. Far enough from Bourbon Street, yet close enough as well. Lots of cute shops and restaurants within walking distance. Talking about restaurants - SoBou right in the hotel is wonderful. The bar has an amazing happy hour, the food is delicious, and it's just a great place to hang out while waiting for the rest of your group to arrive. I had breakfast and several room service meals from there as well - all delicious. The pool area and courtyard are also super cute with plenty of spaces to relax and have a drink. Loved it. So the only negatives - which clearly weren't enough to even knock off a star: my room faced Chartres Street, which I thought was fun because I saw a bunch of parades go by, but if you need a really quiet room then ask for one in the back. I heard a couple of stragglers from bourbon street late at night once or twice. Also, I had no hot water in my last morning there and the really weird thing about my room was that I couldn't plug the hair dryer into the bathroom plug. The plug was too close too the back of the toilet that it would fit properly. Bad design. Nothing big, I still had an amazing time and will definitely be back here.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay here. My experience with the staff was top notch. Thanks to Alba, Leslie & everyone else I spoke with who did their best to get to 'how can we help you' from coordinating car service to recommendations to whatever else I was looking for. Rooms are cute & the court yard is beautiful. Perfect location & in the heart of French Quarters proximate to all sites.

Yelp
Fantastic Location! This truly is a great address if you want to be close to the action but still far enough removed to fill like you've escaped Bourbon Street:) I also found the staff to be on point and super friendly! Only downside are the Carriage house rooms...super neat rooms, balconies on the front and the back...but good luck if you want to sleep in. The French doors that lead out to the balconies on the front and back are old...like super old, hard to open and for sure not sound proof...what's that mean? Well you can hear everything outside your room...like everything. Now they do supply foam ear plugs in the room but seriously, it's the W just put new's and that's it, problem solved! I know you would lose some of the old character of the place but really...it's the W, everything else is super modern, just switch those old doors out and sound proof this joint! Also the heated pool looks huge online but folks that thing is a postage stamp...but you aren't coming here to swim so who cares:) I did a full walk through video of the my room, it's on YouTube, just search "W Hotel, French Quarter New Orleans, Carriage House Suite."

Yelp
The whole set up is odd and confusing, hard to find your room, lots of walking. We got the most expensive room with a hot tub in room. The hot tub was nasty, just didn't seem clean. The room was absolutely NOT worth the ridiculous price we paid for the room. It was just a plain old room, nothing too fancy. We could hear the people in the neighboring room having sex all early in the morning and we couldn't sleep. The premises were just not very fancy for what you pay. This was a terrible experience. Noted - this was back in like 2015 or so. Nonetheless, I'm not going back here because of that experience.

Yelp
As a big fan of the W brand, it's hard to find any attributes this hotel exhibits which speak to the brand. To try to be as fair and balanced as I can: Pros: 1) Location in the French Quarter and upstairs from the delicious Sobou 2) The porter was lovely Cons: 1) The counter staff are inept and rude. I called this hotel the day before to ask if we could check in early. The man who answered the phone said he would put down 11A but never mentioned that MOST likely, we wouldn't get the room until 3P. As I was traveling with a French Bulldog who overheats, if I was told this, I would have made plans to keep her comfortable but since I didn't, I arrived at the hotel with an understanding we would get our room around 11A. Once I realized that this wasn't the reality at all, I expressed frustration at which point another woman was called out. I would have though, for a hotel of the W's caliber, this woman (Tiandra?) would have expressed some understanding but instead she made it appear that I misunderstood. I didn't. She then added that I would have to be in the room at all times with my dog at a moment which was so incredibly insensitive. Nothing was done to help me or my overheating dog. So, I took matters into my own hands and called the Sheraton down the street. I checked in immediately and for a hotel 5 minutes walk away, the staff were extremely pleasant, the room spotless and the view incredible. That's right, because of the issues with the W French Quarter, I booked ANOTHER room. For the record, no one even called me about my room until after 3P...which was supposed to be the latest time the room would be ready. At the end of our stay, I called to ask for my suitcase to be ready at the front because I had gotten caught in a flood and they promised it would be. I arrived at the hotel and they couldn't find my suitcase at ALL at first! 2) If you have a dog, please don't make the mistake of thinking this hotel is dog friendly. 3) A pool the size of a large hot tub. 4) Low-functioning room service as many times you will call down to the front desk and no one will be there. 5) Cleaning staff that will give you attitude when you will try to get by their cleaning carts that they have blocking the hallways 6) Teeny tiny reception area

Yelp
The W hotel is intimate and very well appointed. The lobby is small and beautiful. The rooms are beautifully decorated and their courtyard is one of my favorites in the whole Quarter (I adore many of the numerous courtyards that the Quarter has to offer). The staff here is wonderful! From the valets to the desk staff to the housekeeping staff...all of them pleasant, helpful, and professional. My friends and I rented a room during Memorial Day weekend for three nights and we were sooo glad we picked the W! Brian and Staci were amazing during our time there! The nicest employees in the Quarter are the W staff!! This may very well be my new favorite French Quarter hotel.

Yelp
There is a consistent theme in my travel life and that is SPG hotels. I travel almost every week for work and, when I get a choice, I stay at an SPG hotel. The familiarity, the products, and the service are all consistent enough to make the travel fun. I got a chance to go to New Orleans a day before a work meeting. New Orleans is one of my top three favorite cities in the US, so I was in a good mood before even landing. Knowing that I was feet away from beignets also didn't hurt. At the time, this hotel was going through renovations. The front desk was warm and funny. So, I thought it would be a fine visit. I assuming that these points have been fixed by now, but while I was there: 1. It sounded like people were trying to break into my room regularly. In the middle of the night and during the day, there was A LOT of giggling to my door handles. 2. There was a large leak in the bathroom, so when the guest upstairs flushed the toilet, the ceiling moved and leaked. 3. They offered a late checkout and the cleaning staff came three times to see if I was gone before noon. I will definitely come back here; I just hope it is a little smoother next time. The courtyard is beautiful, the rooms are nice and the service is excellent. I would give it a try.

Yelp
This was the best hotel in town for sure! I stayed with my husband and children for 5 days (kid friendly). Rooms are up to date and very spacious. PRO: 1.Our flight got in early at 9am - When we got to the hotel they accommodated us and gave us our room before 10am, that was lovely. 2. SoBou is conveniently located right under the hotel. 3. Pool is kept clean with clean towels. 4. Staff is friendly and accommodating. 5. Located on quiet street IN French quarter but everything is walking distance. 6.Starbucks coffee in room (complimentary) CONS: 1. There's no complimentary water in rooms ($5 per bottle) 2. Low stock on toiletries (minimal) 3. Drinks and food at SoBou are a bit pricey 4. Housekeeping turns room pretty late in the day The garden area is super cute and quiet - and kept clean! I recommend this hotel if you're looking for a quiet place just a few blocks away from bourbon street and the noise. Lovely retreat!

Yelp
OMG this place was perfect for our girls trip. First Veronica checked is in. We could not get the rooms side by side but she tried to accommodate best she could. We adjourned to our rooms but there were ants in the room. We were quickly moved to another room and they immediately took care of the problem. After a walk on bourbon street which was fairly close, we came back to rest for the next day. After lunch we came back to the hotel bar where we got the best bartender ever!!! BRET!!! He was great. Drinks were on point and I enjoyed the "Hooch of the Day". We also had the Nebula, tequila Sunrises and shots. We went back out but could not make it back to Bret that night. On Sunday we made it a point to go back to the Bar where Bret was the bartender. With is attention to detail he remembered what we all had and was ready for us. This time we had lunch as well as drinks and both were on point. Taste of New Orleans, 14 oz steaks, ceviche, ad praline bread pudding. This is a place we will return to.

Yelp
One of my favorite hotels .. tucked away on Chartres Street yet walkable to everything. Stayed here for a few days, room was great, restaurant breakfast fantastic but wondered what happened to the overall W experience since the last trek .. so a downgrade on rating. Did a cloak of doom come over the W Team? The Customer Service from Front Desk, to 1/2 the bar staff, to Valet were either MIA, discombobulated, junior or ?? Was I called as promised when room was ready for check in? Nope. Was facilities around to address the bar restrooms that were beyond filthy? Nope. Did front desk allow a guest to walk their non-service dog into bar and restaurant? Yup. Was it 95% of the time the W personnel were MIA at front desk or valet (and the concierge stand was never manned during this stay) Yup. Here's what sealed the deal - upon reaching front desk the skies opened up and I asked if there's an umbrella to borrow to get to courtyard room and the answer was "no, but can we have your room key?" Huh?... umm no. (I'm the kinda girl that leaves the do not disturb sign on my door entire time). I asked why the room key was needed and it was for them to go into my room and take the umbrella out of mini bar... a double huh? Huh? Was then informed "the $14 umbrella in guest room mini bar can be used without charge as long as it's returned". I mentioned that's nice, but unfortunate it's not mentioned or written anywhere and ...front desk concurred. My interaction was the Front desk could care less.....nor seemed interested in helping any way... So, we ran across the flooded courtyard and reached our guest room drenched. Really? My experience at The W this time was disappointing and not what they're known for.

Yelp

Yelp
Stayed at the W my last night in NOLA after moving from the Omni Royal. Much more my style of hotel. Top notch service all around. I got upgraded with a great balcony over looking the courtyard and pool. Front desk even called me 5 minutes after reaching my room to see if everything was okay with the room. I ended up ordering a chicken sandwich from room service and because they were a little late they immediately said no charge. I didn't even ask for it. On a side note the sandwich wasn't very good but they were on top of it regarding service. The rooms are modern and the hotel is the perfect location in the French Quarter. Great bar with happy hour too. Lastly if you're lucky these two gorgeous guys (Evan and Geoffrey) will greet you and make sure your stay is excellent! :)

Yelp
This hotel is very dirty and worn out. The staff say they have you covered but don't follow through. After three requests in person and two over the phone (Starting from morning till evening) our room was never cleaned. A simple single phone call should have accomplished this. The beds are just gross (see photos) and the room design is very impractical. The lights for the bathroom can't be turned on or off in the bathroom, the bathroom wall is glass and not private for anyone modest. The widow shutters don't block out the light if you wish to sleep in. Expect lots of noise through the walls at night. There are many better, cleaner hotels in this area.

Yelp
Cute place. Should be described as a "micro" hotel. Not extremely clean and needs some touch ups. During our stay my husband called the concierge to ask the pool times. He was told "it's open all night." After going to the pool at 11:46 pm a staff member comes out to tell us that the pool closes at all 11pm! Embarrassingly enough the patron that must have "reported"us was watching fe his window because we were told the same ring information. This was not appreciated and very frustrating.

Yelp
Average rating. Here on a business/pleasure trip. I would have booked a different hotel if it wasnt for the business portion of the trip. Valet: First day valet was good. Staff helpful. Second day and currently, is horrible. Husband pulled in the 2nd day and valet yelled at him, saying you can pull in like that. We rented a large suburban for business and the drive to enter and exit is quite tight. My husband asked him what other was was he to pull in and explained he was a guest and the guy's tone changed. When we went to leave later that evening, the valet was no where to be found. There was family who appeared to be very frustrated about the wait as well. They had been waiting for about 15 mins. Valet came and we gave him out ticket. When he was pulling the vehicle around, he had OUR TICKET IN HIS MOUTH. This is what really pushed me to make this review. We also called down twice for our call 15 mins prior and when we came down, no car and we had to wait an additonal 10 mins. I know the hotel is packed but the first day there was two valet staff, it seems they only had one valet for the rest of the days, even though it was All Star Weekend and the start of Mardi Gras. Hotel: Courtyard is beautiful and peaceful. Hotel rooms are good. Hate the contemporary sink. Water was getting everywhere. Decor cool. Great standup shower. There is a standup mirror by door but there is no light by the door, so quite dark. Bathroom has behind the mirror lighting and a light in shower area. Was little dark as well. Forget about bringing water or drinks for room, unless you take all the items for sale in mini fridge and it is mini. I am sure others can be patient when it comes to valet, but for this reason, would not stay here again.

Yelp
I have never had a better stay in any hotel anywhere than I did at the W hotel in NOLA. I truly felt at home and so welcomed. This staff was impeccable and never stopped going above and beyond to ensure my friends and I had the best stay. They provided me the best recommendations everywhere, even called one of our dinner reservations one night begging to hold our table since we were running late; arranged many fun events for us including a whole second line parade, helped with any amenities we needed and SO SO SO MUCH MORE. Everyone was truly amazing at the W but I would like to give a special shout-out to Debbie, Frankie, and Maria for being the kindest, most helpful, most generous, wonderful humans and employees I've come across. We will definitely be back!!! Thank you so much

Yelp
This was my first stay at a W hotel and I really enjoyed it! I had a bunch of Starwood points because I travel a lot for work and decided to book this hotel instead of Le Meridien which was formerly the other W New Orleans. Parking at the hotel is ridiculously expensive at $46 per day so I would recommend finding cheaper parking if possible. We were able to find $40 parking for two nights. I have Platinum status so I had the choice of a surprise local amenity, complimentary breakfast at SoBou, or points. I chose the breakfast. The complimentary breakfast is only for 2 people per day with a $16 limit per person. I was traveling with 4 guests so I used both of my complimentary breakfast tickets on one day. SoBou is part of the Commander's Family of Restaurants which includes other restaurants such as Commander's Palace and Brennan's of Houston. Free wi-fi was also included with my Platinum status but I didn't use it. Wi-fi is usually $14 a night. I love modern hotels and fell in love with the W. I wish I brought my bathing suit because the courtyard and pool were beautiful! Why I loved this hotel: - Iced water infused with fruit in the lobby - Complimentary Wall Street Journal or USA Today and coffee in the lobby every morning - Comfortable beds and towels - TV with all of my favorite channels - Waterfall shower that is also in Westin hotels - Bliss foaming face wash, body butter, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and face wipes (in the gym) - Friendly and helpful staff - Walking distance from almost everything! I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel if I didn't have points because it's over $200 a night but I really enjoyed my free stay here!

Yelp
I've always wanted to stay at a W Hotel. This was my first experience and it was very underwhelming. PROS: - The location is great. Close to everything and you can always stop by for a break or to use the restroom. - Staff is helpful and nice. Any questions I had they were more than willing to answer and help. - Nice courtyard area. Saw plenty of people hanging out in the area and by the pool. CONS: - The bathroom was broken and did not flush. We had to get someone to come up and fix it. After fixing the bathroom there was some splatter of water on the floor. Gross. - The rooms are outdated and old. The paint was chipped off. The ceiling had some artwork that was starting to peel. Underneath the bedding, the mattress looked like it was old and was stained. Ew. - My room had one of those doors that connected to the next room. At night, I thought someone was throwing up in the hallway. I think they were throwing up in the next room, passed that door. Hah. Overall, I would not come back to this hotel for the price. When I was taking the elevator down to the street level, two people were in the elevator with me on the phone saying they're switching hotels and how this did not live up to the W hotel name. I stayed at the Marriott down the street last time for work and would have preferred that hotel over this.

Benjamin E.

Yelp
Dear Marriott, Very disappointed, DISGUSTED with Marriot/Starwood. We booked a 4 night stay at the W New Orleans six months ago at a promotional rate and they canceled our confirmed reservations 2 weeks prior to our trip. This is how you treat Gold Elite Starwood and Gold Elite Marriott members? No wonder this property has such low reviews.

Sara P.

Yelp
I should have paid attention to the reviews saying this place has gone downhill. Some of the room furnishings are run down, and if you have a room with connecting doors, forget about getting a good night's sleep (bring earplugs). To top it off, I ended up buying an air freshener for the bathroom since it smelled like rotten eggs. Given the above issues, I tried to change rooms. But I was told the hotel was fully booked and there was nothing they could do (like I don't know, switch me with someone who had not arrived yet?). I then asked about checking out early. Alas, they charge $150 to check out before your scheduled departure date. It wasn't all bad. The staff were really nice for the most part, and the location is great. Close to all the action in the French Quarter, but not so close that you'll have drunk people parading outside your window all night. I stayed at this property years ago and loved it, which is why I ignored the other, less than positive, reviews. Sadly, I won't be staying here again.

Yelp
W French Quarter is the quintessential boutique hotel for those visitors who are in search of wild activities by night, but wish to escape the festivities by day. W French Quarter truly lives up to their Whenever / Whatever service that you will love. Located at 316 Chartres Street you will find the historic boutique hotel that provides contemporary suites to rest , renew and unwind in.
