"As for W Hotels, the trendy chain that redefined modern luxury, the idea was to match its super-charged energy (and its equally super-charged guests) with a fragrance that could cultivate a “fresh, chic environment.”"

How a Hotel Gets Its Signature Scent

Our experience at W New York – Times Square was disappointing, especially given the high expectations associated with the W brand. 1. Poor Service: Whenever we requested something from housekeeping, it took three follow-ups to get a response. The staff consistently cited being understaffed as an excuse for the delay, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. 2. Small and Low-Quality Rooms: The room was extremely small, and the quality felt far below the standard we’ve experienced at W Hotels in other countries. It felt more like a budget accommodation than a luxury hotel. 3. Noisy Environment: The rooms were not soundproof, and we could hear people talking and walking in the corridors very clearly, making it hard to relax or sleep. 4. Tiny Bathroom: The bathroom was uncomfortably small, and there were loud water noises at night, adding to the discomfort. 5. Lack of Assistance: Upon arrival, there was no one to assist with our luggage, leaving us to manage everything on our own. This lack of basic hospitality was shocking. Overall, the experience fell far below expectations, and we would not recommend this hotel, especially given the high cost and reputation of the W brand.

Your roommate can see you pooping. Just checked out this morning. We had a lovely time. The staff was great, the bar was great. I think it’s important for people booking here to know that the partition between the room and the bathroom is translucent. If the light is on in the bathroom, you can very clearly see whoever you are traveling with sitting on the toilet. It’s completely absurd.

This is probably the worst W anywhere! If you are considering it, find an alternative! There are plenty of far better options. The hotel is not worthy of the W name. Room was super basic, not even a coffee maker, no chic vibe, no nice decor.. a basic, bland, boring room - should not be a W! The $30 rip off “destination fee” is a joke. You are forced to pay $30, covering wifi that is free with status, then to use your $30 “credit” it is almost $60 for 2 drinks at the outdated, no view, bar! Marriott should be ashamed of themselves for this NY policy. As a “loyal” elite, in NY I would seriously consider booking a different brand. To top off the poor experience, on check out, another bar charge was added to my bill… over $200 tab, that was not ours. I advised front desk, who said nothing they can do except tell F+B manager, I gave them the benefit of doubt and said ok. Next day, I was still at hotel as my partner had a separate res, and I asked again, charge was still on my folio. I asked 3 times, and charge was never investigated. A week later my CC had been charged for the error… Now it is being “investigated” by Bonvoy. This hotel is a joke, they do not deserve the W name, or anyones business. Book elsewhere… AC by Marriott and Renaissance are far superior….

Phenomenal service! It really felt like everyone who worked here cared about my experience. Jesse & Larry at check-in were fantastic! I was concerned that this would be too close to Times Square for my comfort and it wasn’t. It’s tucked in just right and was a fantastic location to launch from each day. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again - and I would choose the W because of how well the entire staff cared for our group. THANK YOU! It made all the difference in our trip!

After going down the review rabbit hole of NY city Hotels I finally made the choice to stay at the W in Times Square. This was literally a spontaneous trip booked the day before departure. We could not have been happier about our decision. The hotel lobby is small and shared with the the bar but for us this wasn't an issue. We enjoyed a few drinks while waiting for our room. I have maintained Marriott status for a few years now thanks to my work and the Bonvoy card and as a result Marriott has taken great care of us when it comes to room upgrades and service. They did not disappoint on this trip as they upgraded us to a corner room on the 48th floor. The views were amazing and the room was perfect for a couple. The service was excellent from top to bottom.

Google
Positive: Location and staff awesome. Lounge is awesome. Hotel has so much potential if only they would invest in new furniture. Hotel was fine for me and my kid but I would never take my wife there. Negative: The furniture in the room is so worn out and old. Needs to be replaced asap. Carpet is super dated and old. Needs serious upgrading. Seriously Marriott, for the money you charge for this room you need to put in new furniture and carpet.

Google
Check in experience was a complete and total disaster. Even after getting managers involved and escalating the issue, the W did nothing to make the situation better. It wasn't until I showed them their own terms and condition did the W they kind of concede. I think they did this more because of my Bonvoy loyalty status than wanting to make this right. Although the location and views from many of the rooms are spectacular, I will consider other hotels in the area in the future. Whatever Whenever service was not on display for my stay. Two employees did do a stand out job, but that seemed to be an exception not the rule. It's a shame because I truly loved this Brand. Hopefully this is not their new standard.

There are so many things wrong with this hotel. First of all, The lady that spoke with us at the front desk was very rude and gave us an attitude. She acted incredibly confused on why we were here even though we were 18. We did not buy the hotel but the person who did buy it had one of our names in as someone who was able to check in and we made that sure. We told the lady that, and she looked at us very confused and told us that her name isn’t in the system even though we %100 made sure it was and she was able to check in. Also, when we showed up we asked for early check-in and she gave us the most dirtiest look and told us that check-in isn’t until 4 PM, which we knew but were asking for early check in if it was possible. It took about 40 minutes for us to check in because apparently there was a “ glitch in their system” and for some reason, my friends name was not showing up as someone who could check in. After that complicated mess, The next morning, we had a free breakfast voucher and asked the front desk where to go. They directed us to the floor with the Mexican restaurant. When we got there, we found a couple of tables with people and confirmed it was the right place. After being seated and given menus, our waiter seemed clueless about the menu items. It took her 30 minutes to check simple questions, and our food, which was just two croissants and two muffins, took a long time to arrive. We were guaranteed a late check-out because the person who booked the hotel for us made sure of it online. When we asked the front desk, they confirmed it. On the day of check-out, we returned to our room at 3:30 PM to pack up since check-out was at 4 PM. Suddenly, a manager knocked on the door and said we should have checked out at 12 PM. I told him we had a late check-out, but he said there was a glitch in the system (???) and our room didn't have it. (late check out) He assured us we wouldn't be charged and would inform the cleaning staff, but it was frustrating and weird because the hotel staff had been treating us like we were stupid the whole two days we were staying here just because we were not with a full adult. We were still 18. the last thing I would like to mention in this review is the fact that even though they had a card on file, which is the card that paid for the hotel, they still asked for a card to pay the incidentals. She did not tell us any amount of price that I would be paying, but I gave her my credit card and $200 was gone from my card. I’m sure I will get the $200 back soon because it didn’t go all the way through, but I still wasn’t able to use it. This was frustrating because they had a card on file and they did not need to use my card for this. I am pretty sure it is illegal to charge someone an unknown amount.

Yelp
We were here to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday. It was a great experience. I do recommend.

Yelp
Location Location Location. You can't beat it if you want to be right in the heart of Times Square. BUT: The W used to be the coolest and hippest hotel in Times Square. What happened? While there are a few things that are still cool such as The Library Bar with its private alcove seats, the hotel is looking tired and in dire need of an update. Upon entering our small "upgraded" room my friend and I both remarked on the blandness and the "Hampton or Holiday Inn" look of the bathroom (except for the sink). Nothing unique or "W" stood out in the room. Without a W restaurant, breakfast was served in Dos Caminos, and we were sitting on stools and at a tiny wobbly bar top table that barely fit 2 breakfast plates. We did request to move tables after figuring out it won't balance the plates, cups and coffee. Probably the best thing was our nice and efficient housekeeping cleaner. She did a remarkable job keeping our room neat and clean. In the same price range there are other much more trendy, cooler and up-to-date hotels in Times Square. Next time, Research Research Research.

Yelp
This is not the place to stay. The best place in the hotel was the lobby area on the 7th floor. I expected much more from a W hotel and found myself comparing it to others such as the W in Atlanta- which has much more going on. The hotel front desk staff were not helpful and seemed to care less about issues. They did not seem very friendly either. Our room was extremely hot so we requested a fan which took 3 calls and over an hour to receive. They brought blankets initially which was very disappointing. We had a maintenance technician come to the room to fix the air and he said there was nothing he could do. He said the type of room we had normally has 2 units and ours was only equipped with one. Reported this issue as well as housekeeping issue (bathroom and room not cleaned properly) to front desk with nothing resolved. We hoped we could get some pictures of times square from our room window which had a nice view but the windows were so dirty they turned out poor. The staff does not communicate well. We were told we could use our destination drink credit after checking out by a front desk staff member only to be told by bartender and another front desk clerk that we could not. No apology, no explanation no anything. We were also told we could check in early and that someone would call us when a room was ready yet we did not receive a call until after 4pm, received a text at 10:30 at night saying our room was ready. I did want to say thank you to valet staff especially Frank. They were very friendly and helpful. Overall I would not recommend staying here to anyone...

Yelp
A little confusion getting started the check in is on the 7th floor. This hotel is right off the main strip and everything is within walking distance. Be weary they do charge you a $30 daily charge to get drinks in the bar area during happy hour. If you're into partying and it being crazy loud all night long this is your place!!! The concierge service offers many FREE things like the Liberty cruise to see Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. There are other things we have not asked anyone about. So when you first get here go to concierge service first thing. You cannot see the ball drop from our room on 53 floor. The double window end room is really wild. But this place is right in middle of everything . This is not a Military friendly location. The worse part about staying places is when the hotel staff lie to you at check out. Sad way to end such a nice stay.

Yelp
Mixed reviews. : ) Great location : ) Clean modern rooms : ( Dodgy destination fee of $30 added per night : ( 2 elevators to reach our room. When there was a line for the elevator, we had to line up twice on 2 floors : ( Very noisy lobby/lounge. People in our room were trying to sleep so I went down to chill and relax. 10pm at night they were playing rap music full blast throughout the lobby/lounge/bar area. It was by far the loudest hotel lounge I've ever been in by far! : ( At the bar coke was $6, 75% ice and no free refills. :|The room price was reasonable

Yelp
As a frequent traveler and a loyal customer of W Hotels across the country, I can confidently say that the W Hotel at Times Square is a remarkable choice for accommodation. With its consistent quality and exceptional service, it has become my go-to hotel whenever I visit New York City. The rooms at the W Hotel are well-appointed and comfortable, offering everything I need for a pleasant stay. The price point is reasonable and in line with the value and experience provided. I am particularly excited to stay at the W Hotel for the upcoming Usher concert, and I have no doubt that it will meet my expectations. One aspect that sets the W Hotel apart is its vibrant bar scene. They have a fantastic DJ on Friday and Saturday nights, creating an energetic atmosphere that adds to the overall experience. It's an awesome place to unwind and enjoy a great night out. In terms of cleanliness, the W Hotel excels. The rooms are consistently neat and well-maintained, ensuring a pleasant and comfortable stay. The hotel itself is up-to-date, incorporating modern design elements that enhance the overall ambiance. Whether you are familiar with New York City or visiting for the first time, the W Hotel at Times Square is a great choice for accommodation. Its central location makes it convenient for exploring the city, and the hotel itself provides a fantastic experience. As a native New Yorker, I highly recommend it to both residents and visitors alike. In conclusion, the W Hotel at Times Square is a highly regarded establishment that consistently delivers outstanding service. From the well-designed rooms to the lively bar scene, it offers an exceptional experience. If you are looking for a clean, up-to-date, and economical place to stay in New York City, the W Hotel at Times Square is an excellent choice.

Yelp
My sister and I spent a weekend in Manhattan and stayed here. We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel so I can't speak to the bar or dining area or other amenities. The staff was friendly and helpful. We asked for a late checkout and asked for them to hold our luggage while we saw a matinee, and they were very accommodating. The location is good, convenient to everything, and the bellmen were very willing to help us get cabs, etc. The room itself left a little to be desired. It was a little on the small side. The bathroom was tiny and had very little counter space, which was a challenge for two women sharing a bathroom. And the wall between the bathroom and main area was plexiglass! It was not clear, but it provided very little privacy.

Travis C.

Yelp
We stayed here for our daughter's 18th birthday. Rude, and no hospitality. Found bed bugs on our last day. Reported and asked for an update. No reply. Called and they stated they found no evidence of bed bugs. We saw them. Nasty place and rude management.

Krystal R.

Yelp
My family stayed here and it was a huge disappointment. The staff that we dealt with were nice, but even when I told a woman at the front desk that this tray had been out all day on the floor and she wrote the number of the floor down, it was still there well into the next morning! This is just an example of the lack of care of cleanliness for this hotel. I don't recommend it.

Trevor K.

Yelp
We were really excited to stay at this location as we have really enjoyed the brand in other Cities. Not sure if this is due to the purchase from Marriott but this property was not the brand we know and love. The hotel is not up-kept well throughout and the staff is not hospitable. It's impossible to get some water and room service is mediocre. The lobby bar was a cool space but it was pretty quiet during our stay. The views from our room were incredible but not enough to get us to stay again.

Sarah M.

Yelp
I've stayed in this hotel multiple times over the last two years and it's become one of my favorites. With rooms overlooking time square and the hustle and bustle of the city streets, amazing room service, and comfortable rooms, this is definitely a great pick every time.

Andrew M.

Yelp
The poor W brand. 20 years ago it was hipper than hip, catering to the young, tasteful and affluent. Now it's kind of like one of those old hotels in Vegas like the Rio or Ballys where you can tell maybe at one time they had something going on now but everything just feels a couple of decades out of place. The W Times Square represents the overall state of the W hotels perfectly where everything is relatively well-maintained but the style feels considerably past its prime. There are some good things here. As a central location for tourists it can't be beat; it's litearlly next door to Times Square, there's plenty of food around, and once you're inside, the A.V. spectacle of the nearby surroundings is blocked out enitrely which is very welcome. The rooms are fine, everything is clean, nothing is worn or in need of repair. But, as a hotel that's technically a 4 star operation, the rest leaves a lot to be desired. I've complained about the design of the place enough but other aspects like food, service, and general attention to detail are more business hotel than luxury resort. A good example of this is in my room where instead of nice tasteful design details you'd expect from this brand there are instead paper print outs taped to the cabinents with QR codes for you to grab a bite - it looks really, really cheap and just colors the entire impression of the operation. Normally I wouldn't stay around here but my business office was close by so I thought I'd give it a try. From now, I'll choose elsewhere.

Yelp
The Marriott brand tends to shine with its warm and helpful hospitality. This location needs some TLC from Marriott execs. Room service dining - on point. View from room - stellar. Price - market. Squeaky, slamming closet door - happens. Spoke with hosts Friday and requested maintenance address - I was told it would be handled promptly after checking in. Checking out now (Sunday) and it is still not addressed. See video... Requested coffee machine and a razor from hosts - no delivery... to be a hotel and not provide coffee is just a pitoyable management decision to save cost, which ends up leaving morning memories that will have us staying elsewhere next time. At checkout when I asked about the undelivered items, I was told "it looks like there is a note here indicating they never got the request." Curious.

Yelp
We vacillated with booking this but we wanted a location in midtown Manhattan for we wanted to see shows at the Theatre District (loved Hadestown and got to meet the amazing leads Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney ) explore Central Park area, NY Public Library, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Chelsea Market, Little Island, Hudson Yards, The Vessel, High Line, Guggenheim, MET, etc. and everyone suggested Times Square area. So for the location and proximity to "my places to visit list", this was the perfect location! I scored it down (not that they can help it) for it is crowded (a block from Times Square), noisy, I can hear the subway especially when I am in the bathroom (not sure why I can't in the bedroom area but not complaining), bright so we had to use the shades (worked like a charm), and coming from LA suburbs, my family and I are spoiled for all we can hear is the owl hooting but in the city that never sleeps, we heard the hustle and bustle of the city all night. I told my family, part of the NY experience. Would I recommend this location, absolutely for it was so convenient to everything but beware of the downsides above. I just had my Airpods on and listened to audiobooks so definitely blocked the noise so after the first night, the city noise never bothered me. Again, part of the fabulous NY experience!

Kim T.

Yelp
This location of the hotel was very convenient. Two minute walk to time square. Close to restaurants and public transportation. Friendly staff. Beautiful lobby and cute bar. Here are my cons, the room is small. Very little counter space in the bathroom. There isn't a hook or bar hang your towels! They do not have qtips, cotton balls, or a shower cap lol. They charge a destination fee for each day. Now, a "destination fee" is like a resort fee. Well its far from being a resort, because there is no shuttle service, no free wifi, and no free parking. Room: Spectacular Double beds

Deepak S.

Yelp
I stayed here for 2 nights in January and had a great time. For a solo traveler that didn't spend great amounts of time in the room, this hotel was perfect. The entrance to the hotel is not on Broadway, it's on 47th St, you take the elevator to the hotel on the 7th floor of the building. 4 stars instead of 5 because check time was pretty late (4 PM), and the room lacked basic necessities like a full size body mirror, drawers [which forced me to live out of my suitcase], mini fridge, and counter space in the bathroom. The location can't be beat, the heart of Times Square with plenty of shopping, restaurants, and Subway stations that took me to the airports and all over the city. My room had a view of a huge electronic billboard that illuminated my room with ads about Thai tourism and JP Morgan office, I got to see finance bros doing their thing across the street. I highly recommend this hotel for solo travelers and youngins.

Yelp
On arrival, our front desk agent was barely audible, mumbled, spoke in deep tones and very quickly. He went on and on about a destination charge that is not very prominent on any booking pages to someone who books frequently perhaps it should be in red font to draw attention to it and away from the nauseating banter and Cancellation restrictions that are awash all over standard booking pages. This destination charge is $30 per night. It gets you two coupons to the Statue of Liberty (already seen) or some show that 14 year Olds are t going to go see, gym access if you are over 21 and a snack bar in your room(ordered Uber eats two days prior to arrival) He did not greet me by my name or my Bonvoy status and he did not mention anything about where and when to get breakfast. This hotel has no concierge lounge or service. He had to be asked and when we went to the dungeon for breakfast the next day we were asked if we received a voucher and so I showed him the only thing given to me upon check in and I'm sure it doesn't suprise you to know that it is a lengthy description of the destination charge He said that would not be helpful and told me to go back up to the "living room" to get a voucher. The living room, by the way is this We returned my broken armed son and I to be told to follow him and we were directed to high chairs facing a side street. Someone else came and mumbled something so I finally made him explain to me the delineation between large and small menus. Disappointed to find that the smaller bread and water menu was for us. Status I have spent time and money to achieve has afforded me breakfasts and nightly receptions(including at other W properties) that dwarf this handout The room did not have blankets for the twin sofa bed and the lounge chair so we were made to call someone to get them brought to us if we wanted them. Of course we want blankets commensurate to the number of people sleeping. And two people cannot fit in that sofa bed especially if one of them has a long arm cast, which was the whole point of the four phone calls and two emails I put out prior to our arrival Charging people to sit in the lobby is a crime. How do you get away with it? The rooms are dark and the lighting is from the 70's Most W properties have centralized whole room lighting controls Why don't you go ahead and join the 21st century You only have 75 years left of it The windows are filthy The floor is tilted in the room away from the bathroom. We do like the sink and faucet fixture in the bathroom. The rain shower head has minimal pressure The staff, in general is not very friendly and none of them look happy, AT ALL That is something that is fostered from the top Another high priced and well placed property that is still trying to live on the laurels of its location only When the physical presentation and amenities(of which there are none for 14 year olds) fade towards decay, and you don't have good customer service, you become one trick pony in the hospitality field. And what is the issue with the Tvs and connections The service keeps going in and out, mostly out, and I heard someone in the complaint line in front of me getting a $50 credit because of it TV out all day today as well. $50 just doesn't seem like enough for what this hotel charges Why do you not have apps where people can actually watch what they want when they have some recovery or down time? We had planned to stay here for our next trip to the city on the 26th of July, but there is no way I would recommend this property to anyone Also, please take off any tags that suggest that this property is kid friendly with no pool and the rampant Marijuana use and exposure, is not something I would have wanted for my kids Perhaps the other property you manage is better, but I'm not willing to take the chance. And the smell of Marijuana in your Dos Caminos is wholly pervasive and an abomination to have to experience in your main eatery If you want a good hotel in the times square area, THIS IS NOT IT! Yelp
While I normally love Marriott properties and will continue to stay at them. I will not stay at this one and would recommend staying across the street at Edition, instead. For one, there was a cockroach I found in my room the night of check in, and trapped under a cup. I tried calling the guest service and no one answered. I then went to the lobby but only one person was working the desk and I waited close to an hour and she still wasn't free to talk to, not her fault, decided it was trapped under a cup and left a note on my desk and slept through the night and hoped it would be cleaned up in the morning. It wasn't. Finally got ahold of someone on guest services the second night and they came and picked up the bug. Did not offer a room change or option to change hotels. In addition, what's possibly worse was that the bathroom has no amenities like soap or that anyone came in to even clean as there was stains all over the floor. I unfortunately only do write reviews when negative, however this is truly disappointing especially after being a previous Marriott employee. I am in New York two weeks a month for New York and work in time square. I will be staying from the future on in the edition, it is the premiere Marriott property in time square.

Yelp
Terrible hotel. Service is non existent we arrived early from a redeye but purchased a room the night before. When we arrived they said our room wouldnt be ready until 4. Well we paid for last night. They said there was nothing they could do. After speaking to a very surly manager we were able to get the room we had already paid for. Checking out we called 45 minutes in advance for a bell hop to help with luggage. No one showed up. We called again. No one. We struggle down with 4 bags. 3 bell hops were standing at the door not one opened the door or attempted to help us with our bags. They stood there and watched us cross the street. They also do not have coffee in the room. If you want coffee its 25 dollars for room service. Stay anywhere else!! Terrible location too. I wish i could give negative stars

Yelp
Lost laundry bag in the room@@ Poorly managed W hotel, not your standard W hotel. Make sure you lower you standard. During my 2nd day of my whole 6nights staying in W hotel time square. My laundry was lost in the restroom, informed the hotel immediately in the evening, no response. The following day I was in the phone with the lost and found manger. They can't find the bags ( full of my clothes) it's missing in the room!!! They asked to offer $150 and call it a a day. The value is not even closed to my lost belonging. filed the claim and till now it's been almost 3 mos. No response.... Be aware!!! This is not you typical W- hotel, shame on Marriott hotels. As a frequent traveler and loyal Marriott customer, this is unbelievable terrible service!!! Time to move on to iHG.

Yelp
This is my second visit to the W Hotel Times Square. For the good, I really like the location if you plan to see Broadway shows. It is also extremely close to the half-priced ticket booth and easy access to the subway. The room was clean and well maintained each day. The bed comfortable. All staff I encountered from the front desk, door staff, bartenders, and housekeeping staff are friendly, engaging and want to help you. I made a few requests over our four-day stay and never had to follow-up. I found staff much friendlier for both visits at the W Hotel compared to the Times Square Westin. The hotel is a little worn, and I can see it in the plumbing fixtures and on my last visit in the carpet, but the room this time was really well maintained, but I think much of this may be just luck based on the room you get. I believe you should be mindful of a few things though. *Bonvoy Benefits Breakfast. If breakfast is really important to you and you have elite status, you will be disappointed. I've attached a copy of the menu. It is a very basic continental breakfast in Dos Caminos. I don't know if the staff are directly employed by the W Hotel, but this is where service did slip. It was really a mixed bag of who you got regarding attentiveness. Some were good, more were not : - )Of course, I'm sure top servers do not want to work the breakfast shift where most customers have free vouchers. Also, the food served really only the basic purpose of ending morning hunger. I knew breakfast would be a let down based on my last visit (but it was in Blue Fin), so I was prepared for that but want to pass along to others to consider in your own calculation. *The Destination Fee. Some of the bloggers indicated the destination charge had been removed at the W Hotel. Well, it's back : - ) (the front desk staff indicated it was re-implemented about two weeks ago), so plan accordingly. While I know there are mixed views about the charge, I believe, the W does a better than average job of offering amenities for the fee, compared to many of the other Times Square hotels. BUT, we were told the charge was $25 a day and the attached picture shows what you get for the destination fee indicates $25. But, in reality, the bill had a line item closer to $30 a day, if you want to challenge the hotel. I did not, but I'm sharing for your consideration. If you are using the bar anyways, you get $25 back a day, but I argue it is a bit of a trap because a single cocktail with tax/tip will easily hit that amount. We did use the free Guggenheim Museum tickets. Despite these annoyances, the W Hotel Times Square is still a repeatable destination for us, and I think even slightly better than my last visit.

Yelp
This place is trash. I'm a Bonvoy Member and usually love staying at the W. But this location is probably one of the worst now. It used to be hip with a fun vibe. But now the rooms are outdated and the entrance is boring and the rates aren't even competitive. There's way better hotels in the area without all the traffic and damn pedicabs. I'd avoid this location at costs. It's a hassle to access and exit these days.

Yelp
The W hotel was awesome! My husband and I stayed one night last weekend while we were exploring New York and it was perfect for what we needed. We decided to drop over to the hotel to ask them to hold our bags early (around 10AM) while we explored the city. To our surprise, our room was ready!! And they upgraded our floor number to a direct view of Time Square! We popped into the room to set our bags down and it was definitely a little smaller than I was used to being from Florida, but we were only there one night and didn't anticipate we'd spend a lot of time in the room. The bed was comfortable and it was very clean too! So props to them. We headed downstairs and headed out for the day. Upon our return, we stopped at the hotel bar and had a cocktail. There was live music and it was a really relaxing atmosphere to dial down for. The location could not have been better for walkability purposes, too.

Yelp
Clean, reasonably priced hotel in the heart of New York's Times Square. This is actually a Marriott Hotel. My wife was there on business, and I piggybacked on her trip to visit my Mom and Stepdad who live on the Upper West Side where I grew up. The hotel, the rooms were clean. The building itself is quite tall, 58 stories. We stayed on the 40th floor. However, this is not, your Father's hotel... Although they have maid service, clean fresh towels, a full service check in counter (on the 7th floor) bell service and a full bar. There is no kitchen, no room service. And to top it off, there is no coffee maker in the room! So, you can't order coffee, (No room service, no kitchen) and you can't make it yourself. So my wife and I have drag ourselves out of bed, and one of us has hoof it over the the Starbucks across the street. The rooms themselves are clean and modern, even reasonably spacious. We had no trouble placing our suitcases in convenient spots along with our backpacks. There was also a closet, and the bathroom was not small. That said, even though we were quite high in the sky, we could still hear the sounds, noises, ruckus of Times Square below. Which we found annoying. And forget about taking relaxing stroll around the block. Times square is constantly packed with people. You have to go down to 8th or ninth ave to even begin to see space between the throng. So, I guess if you're a tourist, this might be the place for you to stay. As for us, we both swore to never stay in Times Square again. BTW, if you enjoyed my review or found it useful funny or cool, please don't hesitate to click the little button to say so, or better yet, go ahead and friend me! I Just moved to the Seattle area last year, and need all the friends I can get. So go ahead, press that button, and never miss a single one of my epic reviews in the Seattle area and beyond. Excelsior!

Yelp
Its always a pleasure to stay at the W Times Square. This time I got upgraded to a suite and the this was the most glorious room I have ever stayed in at the W. It was a gracious upgrade and I couldn't thank the staff enough for such a wonderful spacious room with a great well lit view of Times Square. I was able to par take in the complimentary breakfast at Dos Caminos. Very simple but filling enough to start the day. The Lobby Lounge was rocking with a nice music vibe but maybe the perfectly made Old Fashion I had was helping to set the mood. The bartender was on point and very friendly. I definitely recommend The W Times Square. I stay here at least once or twice a year and every year it seems to get better and better. Thanks W ! Oh yes and kudos to the 2 staff members I spoke to while checking. They were very cop to chat it up with. Sorry I didn't get a name but one soek with and accent and one mentioned it was her birthday as we spoke of December birthdays. Very friendly staff.

Yelp
I am delighted to share with you our recent experience of transferring from another hotel to the one we are currently staying in. Words cannot express the stark contrast and sheer delight we have encountered here. From the moment we stepped foot through the door, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of genuine kindness and warmth. The tantalizing aroma that greeted us upon arrival instantly hinted at the care and attention to detail that permeates this remarkable establishment. Every corner of the hotel exudes a captivating scent that simply uplifts the spirit and adds an extra layer of sensory delight to our stay. But it is the exceptional staff that truly sets this hotel apart. Their unwavering commitment to hospitality is a breath of fresh air, as they consistently go above and beyond to ensure our every need is met. From the front desk to the concierge, each member of the team possesses a remarkable combination of professionalism, efficiency, and genuine warmth. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and it feels as though they are genuinely thrilled to have us as their guests. As we entered our room, we were greeted by a sight that took our breath away. The stunning decor, tasteful furnishings, and meticulous attention to detail created an ambiance of elegance and comfort that instantly put us at ease. Every aspect of the room, from the luxurious linens to the well-appointed amenities, has been carefully curated to provide the ultimate in relaxation and indulgence. What truly touched our hearts, however, was the thoughtful gesture we received from the staff member who assisted us during check-in. Upon learning of our unfortunate experience at the previous hotel, she took it upon herself to extend a heartfelt apology and a personalized gift. This small act of kindness spoke volumes about the dedication and compassion that define this establishment. In every interaction and every moment, the seamless experience provided by this hotel has left an indelible mark on us. The attention to detail, the genuine care, and the extraordinary level of service have transformed our stay into an unforgettable journey. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to be guests in this exceptional hotel, where every element conspires to create a haven of tranquility and luxury. In summary, our transfer to this magnificent hotel has been nothing short of a revelation. From the enchanting ambiance to the outstanding staff, every facet of our experience has been elevated to new heights. We cannot help but marvel at the stark difference between our previous ordeal and the sheer joy we now find ourselves immersed in. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking an extraordinary experience filled with warmth, beauty, and impeccable service.

Yelp
As a Marriott Gold Member, I prefer to only stay at Marriott locations. This hotel is a Marriott. It is perfectly located in Time Square right next to the red steps. Recently stayed here Christmas week. Upon entry of the building are a set of elevators to bring you up to the 7th floor where the lobby is. Before you enter the elevators to the left are doors to two restaurants, Blue Fin, which has shut down and Dos Caminos. I definitely recommend Dos Caminos, it's really good. The lobby on the 7th floor includes pods to sit at and work or hang out with friends. There is even a nice bar that is open to the public as well as hotel guests. The front desk staff were really nice and helpful. They even provided free bottled waters. From the lobby there are multiple elevators to get you to the floor your room is on. We stayed on the 49th floor in a double bed room with views of Time Square and of the west Manhattan skyline. As most NYC hotels, the rooms are small. I'm pretty used to the room sizes. The fridge was stocked with alcohol and drinks however they were expensive so we didn't take any. I think it's pretty cool for those who prefer the convenience of the drinks in their room. We stayed for 3 nights and opted out of room service so I can't provide a review on that but we did talk to our floor cleaning lady. She was really nice and provided us extra pillows and towels as requested. Overall, I really liked this hotel. It wasn't super fancy or budget friendly. The staff were nice and the other guests were nice. The hotel had great vibes. Children friendly as we had our kids with us. It is within walking distance from everything and easy access to subway systems.

Yelp
Seems a lot of folks just like the location. Honestly it is one of the best locations.. except if you need a pick up or drop off, a lot of traffic. This hotel was walking distance to Rockefeller, and all of our Broadway shows. Obtw! You must see MJ & Some Like It Hot! Location, location is what this hotel has going for them. Agree with previous mentions, inconsistent service. Our room was directly in front of elevators. Heard all foot traffic, which at this point doesn't matter, as there is a lot of road rage traffic. There are basic, shampoo, conditioner & creams that is provided by the hotel. Guess it's irrelevant of your status with hotel. The chaise lounger chair had stains on it, which could have been previously wiped down. Don't think the linen & towels provided, are consistent if you previously asked for extras. Hotel staff, friendly. Wait bar staff was friendly & ensured our glasses were never empty. People this is not the place to buy rounds of drinks or shots. Room cleaning service was provided regularly & that was consistent. The room with view, was a joke. Nah I would not stay here again. Prefer midtown location, more walking, however less traffic.

Yelp
Boutique feel even if it has a few miles on it. Staff is amazing, and we loved the location. We stayed here 5 days and loved the fact that they cleaned the room thoroughly and replaced the complimentary water DAILY, since COViD not all hotels are doing that. Location, location, location... close to multiple subway stops!

Yelp
The room is very modern with an industrial motif. Sound proofing is not very good. Service nice and pleasant. Luxury room has a nice street view of the Broadway. Gym and signature green apples are available. The location is great.

Yelp
Place was convenient and staff were great from the hotel manager to the valets. They remember your name and always had a smile!

Yelp
Very disappointing. Accidentally booked at Westin and was able to get a room at the W Times Square. Last trip to NY we stayed at JW Marriott by Central Park and loved it. Long time Marriott customer. Will never stay at this W again. Staff was not upfront with me about cost. Switched us to a room with two beds. Didn't tell me they were still charging me for a corner room. Bathroom has mold/mildew, stains on floor and a shower curtain. I've stayed at Marriotts all over the world and this is the worst. I was going to get a Marriott credit card. Not going to do that anymore.

Yelp
This is a great location: in the heart of Times Square...and also next to the COVID testing van -- very convenient. The rooms are clean and modern. The bathroom faucet may be a little too modern for me, as I could never get the water to come out at the right temperature without making a giant splash on the counter, and on myself. The higher rooms have a great view of Manhattan. 1 star off: My only gripe with this hotel is that the elevators are dark and confusing. First of all, when you first arrive, you walk into a deserted room that is supposed to be the lobby. There is no one there, and somehow, you have to figure out that you need to take the elevator to the 7th (go figure) floor. When you get to the 7th floor, that is where the check-in desk is. After checking in, you go to one dark alley for certain floors and a different dark alley for other floors (go figure) to go to your room. You would think that the W would at least make visible signs, but no.

Yelp
The hotel lobby and Living Room lounge are great places to hang out. My room on the 27th floor overlooking Times Square was comfortable and very clean. It can get loud but eventually the Times Square loud dissipates into the regular NYC loud. If you come to visit NYC and want or need to stay around the Theatre District or Times Square, this is a good place to hang your hat for a few nights.

Missy J.

Yelp
Great location for sure....however... Beds and pillows are horrible, noisy people in hallways, showers are cold everyday.

Cassey R.

Yelp
This was my first time staying at this hotel and I'm not sure I would do it again. When we arrived and walked in to what we thought would be the lobby it was just a room of elevators with entrances to two different restaurants on the left and a desk that no one was at. There was no signage anywhere telling us if we were in the right place or where to go from there. Confused we wandered outside and asked what turned out to be a hotel employee. He was very nice and told us we would need to take the elevator to the 7th floor. Check-in was simple the gentleman there was very helpful but at the very end he said, "there is one more thing I have to tell you." As I listened he told me that there was construction going on at the hotel next door but they are only able to begin work at 10 and said the hotel was happy to provide us with earplugs if we'd like. Being that it wouldn't start until 10 we declined the earplugs. We get to our room and are there for about 5 mins (we checked in a little before 4) when we start seeing ropes being flung from what I assume was the roof down past our window. We thought it was window washers but never saw anyone and got ready to head back out of the room. Fast forward to the next morning...the construction did not start until 10am as promised BUT if it was happening in the hotel next to us we couldn't tell because it sounded like it was in our room. It was so loud that we couldn't hear each other talk from one bed to the other. I recorded the sound to share with the front desk but when we went to check out the guy said he didn't need to hear it, that he knew all about it. Apparently, there is also construction happening at THAT hotel too (hence the random ropes outside our window). We weren't told of any construction while booking or after until after we had completed our check in and received keys. Had we been told the construction was that obnoxious we would've gone elsewhere. The amount that we paid for the room was ridiculous for what we got. He offered us a $50 credit for the inconvenience. I'm really hoping I'm able to upload the video so you can decide for yourself if staying here during construction is worth the cost minus the measly $50 credit they may offer. Either way, since it didn't seem to be anywhere on their website I'm writing this review so that it can possibly help others. Videos uploaded - not sure if they are with this review or just in the photos sections. But do yourself a favor and listen to them before booking! Plus our city view room was all rooftops.

Yelp
I'm staying at here for V day, the location can't be beat! I was in the heart of the action, with endless options for entertainment right outside my door. And despite being in such a bustling area, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel. The staff did an excellent job keeping the rooms and common areas spotless. The only downside to my stay was the size of the room, but that was to be expected in such a prime location. However, the real disappointment came when I ordered the Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned from the hotel bar. For $20, I expected a quality drink, but what I got was undrinkable. The cocktail was more like syrup than bourbon, leaving me with a terrible taste in my mouth. They made it a point to say that you get a 25 dollar bar credit for the $25 destination fee. I think by charging the equivalent of half a bottle of bourbon for an essentially syrup, they make their money back. I left the entire drink at the bar.

Yelp
Sooooo I was very hesitant as a past longtime resident of NYC and now frequent business traveler to NYC to stay anywhere in Time Square. However, stars aligned and this time around all my meetings were within walking distance of Time Square so I figured I can stay at the W, and the W is always very decent. Truthfully- I hate the fact that this locations subway options are limited and cabs and Ubers are basically eliminated as options because driving into Time Square is impossible. HOWEVER, Jonathan and Pat ( I guess Patrick? ) who work the bar at the W really made my stay. They were so friendly and not creepy. Great pours, a welcoming presence and intelligent conversation after a long day are just so..welcoming and refreshing. This 5 star review is literally just for them. I now know I'll be back and I am now telling my friends. Kudos to these boys. 5 stars.

Yelp
Not very impressive compared to miami, Scottsdale or LA venues. Initially was gi on a room on 11th floor with a view of the HVAC system. Staff very nice and helpful though.

Priya T.

Yelp
This hotel was right in the center of Times square. It was super accessible to areas like Bryant Park, Thanksgiving day parade and other attractive areas. We walked to our broadway play and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. They do charge a $25/day amenities fee but that credit can be used at the hotel bar, so it works out! The hotel was also very clean and well taken of.

Brianna C.

Yelp
Used to be a good hotel but now the customer service has ruined it. Wi-Fi does not work in the room. Front desk is extremely rude and doesn't listen. They had engineering banging on my door even though I asked for them to come AFTER my meeting was done. Then they started calling back to back. I then told them they can come anytime that day, and no one ever came to fix the issue.

Jayla J.

Yelp
We had a horrible experience. We had housekeeping come only once to restock the towels and water. I know it was not their fault because our door would not open with any keys we had to have security open it for us. However, I do think this is something house keeping should have let the front desk know while we were out. The pillows were stained and I have pictures if you want to see them. Then the front desk gave us a courtesy of $50 to use at the restaurant dos caminos and once we used it we were accused by the waitress names Hope of skipping on the tab in front of everyone at the restaurant. She made sure that she made a scene so everyone can hear her accusations Mind you we were eating breakfast there everyday paying for overpriced food but we still paid everytime. Never have we been so embarrassed. After paying so much money to have a beautiful view we got stuck with a room that was dirty and with no view but the rooftop of the buildings below us and one screen from time square. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Yelp
Great location! Room was clean and fresh. Nice size. Amenities were great. Staff was very nice. Great price for a Saturday evening!!

Vivian J.

Yelp
I haven't stayed at a W Hotel that I didn't love! Everything you need for a great adult experience: Dope rooms, Upscale atmosphere and great resturant and Bar/Club. This location gave me a disco era feel with the Christmas tree made of silver disco balls. Also, they had a colorful area with cartoon art. It was prefect for taking neat pictures. The staff was courteous and provided exceptional service. The location is perfectly situated in Times Square. Therefore, we were able to walk most places. It is very nice and convenient to have a club in the hotel for people that might not want to venture out for nightlife. The music was on point and people were having a great time. I throughly enjoyed my stay at this location.

Timmy M.

Yelp
Excellent location. Rooms a bit small but clean. I'll give the Blue Fin restaurant 5 stars because both the food and service were amazing! For the hotel itself be careful to check your billing statement for hidden or incorrect price listings on in room bar service. I was over charged by $2.75 PER drink. You would think a hotel on times square was above that.

Dave G.

Yelp
One star for decor of the lobby and bar. One star for the bell hop service. The rest of the experience was beyond terrible. I reserved and paid for 3 rooms with city skyline view for my grandfather's 80th birthday. The front desk "host" was beyond rude and nasty. He did not give us any skyline view rooms which I paid extra for. He intentionally placed us by the elevators with loud noise. I asked to move rooms. He acted like he was moving mountains for my family. The rooms were still terrible. We will never be returning again. Terrible 80th birthday experience.

Tess C.

Yelp
This was my teen son's first trip to NYC so we wanted the Times Square experience. He was super excited at our location and room view. We arrived early from a red eye and it was pouring rain outside. The angel, Janette, at the front desk checked us into a room early so our family could rest. The room and everything was up to W standards and for me what makes the stay is the staff and they did a great job even enjoyed our chat with the maintenance man when we were locked out of our room because the keyed entry battery died. I do wish they had coordinated with security to come quicker but I'm just not one to get worked up over this stuff as it didn't seem anyone really messed up. Umbrellas were provided in the rainy days which was a nice touch. The lobby bar makes a nice spot to grab a drink if you're just tired from running around the city and while they have a gym onsite (they do give temporary passes to outside gyms in the area which my husband appreciated.)

Michelle P.

Yelp
Worst hotel experience ever. No hot water during a cold march week. No one ever came to fix it. Was not allowed to move to another room. Been in a constant back and forth for over a month just to get someone to take this matter seriously. Don't recommend this hotel.
