Where To Get Chinese Delivery And Takeout In NYC

"Think about holding a little bowl of hot and sour soup right now. If that’s something you’re excited about, and you’re within Wa Lung Kitchen’s delivery or takeout range (this restaurant is on Grand Street), you can place your soup order online or by calling 908-922-4130. They also have a bunch of vegetarian options and catering-sized trays of fried rice and sesame chicken." - hannah albertine, bryan kim

Google
First time trying this spot and hands down best Chinese food in the area! The chicken and broccoli was fresh and perfectly flavored, chicken wings were crispy, and iced tea was super refreshing. Will definitely be ordering again. If you're in the area, Wa Lung is a must try. 10/10!!!

Google
First time getting delivery from this place. I ordered the chicken wings combo that came with 4 chicken wings and vegetable fried rice, and crab rangoon (6 in a bag). I love getting chicken wings with fried rice from Chinese restaurants and always have growing up and glad I ordered from here. The chicken wings were still crispy along with the crab rangoon. Portion size is great too and had leftovers to enjoy the next day. Delivery was prompt and followed drop off instructions. I’d probably continue ordering delivery from here and try some of the other combo options.

Google
Very pleasant takeout place. I have been coming for years and every last thing I have ever had from here has been delicious. I especially enjoy the chicken corn soup. The people are very nice and everything is affordable.

Google
Don't come here. The food is horrible. Freezer burn taste on all meats. Attitude is horrible. Owners should be ashamed. Go to may may on grand and Clinton. Much better food and way more decent.

Google
I always order just plain broccoli with white rice but today I purchased sesame tofu with broccoli and brown rice. I must say it is very good but they were a little cheap with the broccoli and heavy on the tofu. Next make it balance out! Other than that their food is good. Disclaimer: photo reflects already eaten broccoli but there were like on 5 pieces originally!

Google
They have no consistency, the food is good one day, overcooked another day and can take forever to get. The food is WAY over priced when ordering online versus walking in or calling in. Edit: I just can't do it anymore. Ordered shrimp and broccoli with garlic sauce and all I can taste is GREASE. I tried putting soy and duck sauce on my food like I typically enjoy and I despite that I could only taste grease. Won't be ordering from here anymore.

Google
Unfortunately, while waiting for my food, I watched a rat run out of the kitchen and the workers proceeded to step on. It, picked it up with a tissue and threw it out right before my eyes.

Great food and amazing service! I love how kind the employees are! Thank you!

Yelp
This is a bit less greasy than Chelsea Golden Wok but the same throwback to a good Americanized Chinese place from the mid 2000s. I wouldnt guess they've changed the recipes since. Love the red sauce and can't find cold sesame noodles like this anywhere worse. Took a while to deliver but for those noodles? I'll wait.

Carmen G.

Yelp
Haven't tried Wa Lung since I was a kid and being in the area decided to give them a try today. Big mistake. Asked for a large sweet and sour sauce and got less than what would've been in a smaller container at any other Chinese restaurant I'd normally order from. (Check attached pictures) Also ordered the crispy tofu thinking it was 8 slices of tofu for the price and it was 8 square chunks. Also less than half of what I am given anywhere else. 2 stars is for the decent portion of chicken. But overall, not worth returning.

Yelp
These guys have been delivering on consistently great sesame chicken lunch specials all week while Ive been here for work down at Pier 36. I love Wa Lung. So good I took a picture.

Yelp
This is my neighborhood spot. I called to order "chicken and broccoli, white rice, little bit of sauce over the phone. I've ordered on the phone to avoid paying additional fees from Uber Eats or Yelp. Lady on the phone didn't understand my order l, so I repeated the order again. She than asked if I wanted it on a plate? I didn't understand why she asked if I wanted it on a plate, but I said yes, please put my food on a plate. Order came out to 13 dollars. I didn't understand why and thought I'll just correct it when I pick it up. When I picked up my order I asked why I was charged 13 dollars for what was 9 dollars on the menu? She told me taxes. So I asked 9 dollars food incurs 4 dollar taxes? She than proceeded and argued that I ordered a combination platter? And I told her I told you I wanted "chicken and broccoli, over rice, little bit of sauce." Don't give me things I didn't order. The owner which I've seen multiple times told the worker to take out the egg roll and just charge for the normal order. She proceeded to roll her eyes, give me a bitch face and sarcastically asked if I wanted sauce and utensils. I said yes and I would never come back. Hire stupid people with attitude problems for your store front, and your business will suffer.

Yelp
We moved away and miss Wa Lung. Many years of steamed shrimp with garlic sauce on the side. Wish I could have it delivered tonight. Great neighborhood Chinese food!
google avatar

Andrea R.

Yelp
Wish I never ordered from here. Subpar on all levels. Order was 10 mins late for a pick up. Order was missing eggroll. Online descriptions of the food are misleading, they skimp on things for lunch specials. Took it back, and was met with attitude instead of proper customer service expected when fixing an issue on their part. Young counter lady had an attitude. Boss didnt apologize for issue. All of that, to come home and discover the food was over priced for small portions. Will never order from here again.

Yelp
The food tasted of old oil ! Nasty taste due to that old reused stale oil !Don't ever go there again .

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Wa Lung and savoring their chicken wings, and let me tell you, it was an unforgettable experience! As a fan of Chinese cuisine and a chicken wing enthusiast, I can confidently say that Wa Lung has perfected the art of creating SCRUMPTIOUS wings.

Yelp
So looking at the reviews I decided to give them a chance. I placed my order @ 7:48pm the young lady tells me it's going to be about an hour wait , I said on no problem , my delivery guy gets to me at 10:35pm the food ice cold and they forgot my large order of pork fried rice. I tried calling them no answer . Called the delivery no answer ! Called all day the next day no answer !!! $59.00 worth of food that was totally ice cold !!! And incomplete . I would at least expected them to pick up my call so that we could have settled this in a more civilized way . But I guess she saw my number on her caller ID and didn't want to deal with me. So disappointed !!!!! The ratings fooled me!!

Yelp
Solid takeout Chinese. Ordered spring rolls, ma po tofu, sesame bean curd and shredded Szechuan beef. Everyone enjoyed the food. The most amazing Chinese food ever- no. Will continue to order from them.

Yelp
If life was like an anime, my experience at this fine establishment would be like food wars. The immaculate flavors that exploded throughout my mouth left me wanting more and salivating.

Jed k.

Yelp
The crack sauce. Highly recommend the chicken wings! Asians do em the best! The muscular worker with the snake tattoo is a bonus too;)

Ching H.

Yelp
This place was recommended to me because i was craving for spring rolls. I ordered the veg spring rolls, veg chow fun, and my date had the spicy chicken with broccoli combo. The spring rolls was eh.. typical chinese take out spring roll. Chow fun was heavy on garlic sauce, scallions, and onions... not much of the veg. We ate all our food but i would not go out of my way to eat here. The price is twice as much as a typical chinese take out place but the food is better than a lot of other chinese take outs.

Yelp
Wa lung kitchen is the perfect example of moms cooking. That first bite leaves you hungrier and wanting more while giving you heartfelt emotions. After the first bite of the Skadoosh special, I remembered what it felt like to eat a tasty meal after being in the trenches.
google avatar

Curtis C.

Yelp
Cooked with care. Every dish I ordered was done right. The place is always clean and the service prompt. The price is high compared to most places when compared but it's reasonable when the quality is there. Can't go wrong with Wa Lung.
google avatar

Glinda E.

Yelp
I ordered the fried rice and shrimp a small order it was delicious and a order of spareribs although the ribs could've been cooked more but it was good I also ordered my grand children chicken wings and fried rice they said it was good so yes I will be ordering in the future

Yelp
Tried to order from here through one of the partner sites. Waited 80 minutes for the food. Eventually after three calls to the restaurant someone picked up. They had not even started my order. Never again.

Yelp

Yelp
Everything was delicious and fresh. Recommend the orange chicken, string beans, & best wings.

Yelp
Wa Lung is an old school neighborhood favorite, and I was not disappointed after eating here after some time has passed! I got a shrimp with lobster sauce combo platter, along with some steamed dumplings. I was so happy that I did, let me tell you!! The lobster sauce was light, had nice pieces of meat, and some scallions in the sauce, and it was so good - you could totally eat it like a soup!! The fried rice had decent pieces of pork with bean sprouts and mixed well with the shrimp and lobster sauce. There were 5 nice-sized shrimp, and not a lot of oily residue in the rice. The egg roll was crispy and had a fresh taste. Dumplings were tasty with not too thick skin, and the dipping sauce was flavorful, and on point!! Would definitely order again - and SOON!!

Yelp
Not into Chinese food but went to take some family members. Service was not welcoming. Asked for a cup of ice for the seltzer water was told they didn't have cups, this day temperature was in the 90°s and they didn't have air conditioning . Felt apprehensive about asking for extra napkins...the chicken lo me in was okay, the steamed broccoli was good. Tasted chicken wingsthere was no flavor, no salt, no pepper just chicken in flour. CASH ONLY!

Ted G.

Yelp
The food is tasty, but customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Folks working the counter are very rude and dismissive, and never willing to extend kindness or answer questions. A smile goes a long ways, especially these days. Maybe their staff should consider it.
google avatar

Mark Y.

Yelp
I bought a $20 lunch and first they said a drink is free but then seems like a Boss lady said no free drink. I mean c'mon, I spend $20 bucks...no cash lest, at lease include the drink. That's why I was not recommended this place but still came it. It will be my last time here
google avatar

Yelp
I had Home Style Tofu and the Gen Tso Combo as well as the Hot and Sour Soup. EVERYTHING was delicious and superior to the average takeout spot. The tofu, especially, was full of delicious exotic mushrooms that were amazing. Will def order from here again. Prices and quality are great!

Ira S.

Yelp
I ordered yesterday a delivery for $19.32. I left $ 30 by the door and asked for $5.00 back in change, There was no $5.00 back. I called the person who took my order and she said she'd send the delivery guy back with my change. It never happened. The delivery man is a crook and stole from me during the coronavirus crisis. I wonder how many others he's cheated. Today I spoke with the manager. She was rude and hung up on me. I called her back. While she offered to send me back the $5.00, she wouldn't hear me out and began to lecture me on how many people she feeds, She hung up on me again. This is a dishonest place. Who steals during this health crisis? After many years of patronizing Wah Lung of Grand Street, I will never buy from them again. A former long time customer.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I use to order from Wa Lung Kitchen at least four times a month. Never had a problem, we told our friends from the neighborhood to order from them and they liked the food. But one time my boyfriend ordered a shrimp and pork fried rice meal and got food poisoned. When we got the food we thought something was up because it was not the usual service. He was throwing up and had diarrhea for three days.

Nilda R.

Yelp
I made an order of five crab Ragu 15 minutes before I got there they charge me, I was waiting for my order as I was waiting the lady who works there was massaging her face all over and then working that got me sick to my stomach, then the guy comes back and tells me he only has two orders I cancel he also had me waiting because he did not start the order until I got there I will never go there again bunch of pigs.

anna G.

Yelp
There general toso chicken is delicious. I used to order it all the time. I would ask for 1/2,spicy hot and they would accommodate me snd it was yummy. Delivery came within 25 minutes which is good. I'm glad wa Kung is only 1/2 a block away from my apt.
google avatar

Yelp
Seems like I was sitting there forever waiting for my order but I have to admit the food was good. Not to greasy. My only issue is the young lady at the counter. I wanted to know how a certain dish was prepared and she glared at me and barely opened her mouth to answer me. I observed her interaction with other customers in person and over the phone. people want to support our local businesses but not if they have to deal with unprofessional behavior.

Yelp
The pandemic has provided an opportunity to rediscover neighborhood Chinese take out. Very reasonable ($7.50 for small chicken curry with brown rice) courteous and efficient service, and ample portions of tasty food. My meal was loaded with water chestnuts bamboo shoots onions and cabbage as well as chicken and nicely spiced not four alarm hot hot hot.

Christina H.

Yelp
Ordered from here about three or four times in the past month, and the food is always so good! We've been ordering General Tso's chicken, and it's been consistently well done and delicious. There's only one other place around the LES that has good General Tso's chicken that I've known (I've tried ~6 different places), so I'm glad to have found this place. During the recent two times we've ordered from here, we've noticed that their deliveries have been coming late (around 30 mins later than the latest projected delivery time on Seamless), but understandably in recent circumstances, they must be short staffed. We've called to check on our order, and it took quite a few times before we could reach anyone. The poor lady on the phone sounded frazzled, but she was still helpful in letting us know the status of our delivery. I'm so thankful that everyone there is working as hard as they can and still make fantastic food despite how difficult it's been these days. It's always been worth the wait, and the delivery person is always so nice, too! Thank you, Wa Lung Kitchen!

Yelp
Never ever again, stopped in for a small order. Chicken lo mein. Where was the chicken and very dry. Eggrolls Very bland and loaded with grease. Soup, didn't come with noodles, had to pay extra for them. Don't ask them anything because if looks could kill and the person who gave me the food got very agitated when I asked her if she put duck sauce in the bag, which there wasn't. She proceeded to put 2 packets in for two eggrolls. What is that one bite with sauce? When I asked for a few more she told me I had to pay for them. Fortune cookies are gratis either. Girls were inappropriately dressed and terrible customer service. Two men in back were cursing. Only giving one star because i have to. The food was disgusting. Never again.

Jan84sam ..

Yelp
After reading some of these reviews I felt I needed to put my 2 cent in. The food here is pretty solid. Only wish the white rice is cooked a little softer. For a convenient take out Chinese food it's decent. I see reviews here about bad customer service and charging extra for extra stuff.....HELLO??? This is a Chinese take out place...not a 5 star dinning restaurant. Sometimes human mistakes happens or delays of delivery but that's everyday life. Life is never perfect but to crucify a business because of minor errors is completely wrong. Give a small business a break!!!...especially when they're catering to our neighborhood. It's hard running a business and trying to pay bills and salaries and provide good food to customers but then to have people here to give 1 star because of little stupid mistakes is just not right.
google avatar

Rose T.

Yelp
Been ordering here for years but today will be the last of it. After 2 hours of waiting for my food and 3 follow up phone calls, I won't order here again. The ladies here the one that answers the phone and in the background argued with me that they didn't forgot my order when my first follow up call she said 'we're working on it now' with a complete tone that they forgot!! Their excuse, that they're backed up --- yeah okay! Tell that to a rock!! U can have your cold food back! FYI I DIDN'T YELL AT THE LADY, the lady on the background was the one doing all the yelling. LIES!

Yelp
Best general Tso's chicken and pork fried rice I've had in the lower east side, and I've been living here for three years now. Haven't tried anything else since I'm very content with this order
google avatar

Nora T.

Yelp
Wa Lung is one of the worst Chinese restaurants on the Lower East Side. The restaurant itself is situated on the opposite side of a loading bay. I've seen many rodents gather there looking for food in the late hours of the evening. That should immediately raise a red flag! In my experience, the staff is not attentive whatsoever. They will usually deliver at least one item in the order wrong, and get pissed if you send an item back. The sesame chicken is basically fried fat. Tough to chew without spitting out 85% of it. Not to mention it is drowned in a sauce that tastes no better than slime. Save your wallet (and your stomach) from this nightmare of a restaurant.
google avatar

Ben W.

Yelp
Really bad customer service. They got my order wrong and then tried to convince me that chow mein was something other than what I've been eating for twenty years. Wouldn't exchange, wouldn't refund. Won't order again
google avatar

Andre C.

Yelp
Food is decent but customer service sucks! Always rushing my phone order. The young girl picking up the phone need proper customer service training. Besides that all is great.

K I.

Yelp
I don't usually review Tried this place twice and horrible both times. Tofu and broccoli had gelatinous sauce that was extreme, extremely salty (msg?) yet had no flavor. I ended up removing food from sauce and putting duck sauce on it. Usually tofu and broccoli has the tofu cooked somehow... This was soft broken up tofu thrown in raw. The white rice tastes like Uncle Bens rice. My coworker also tried but couldn't eat his fried rice entrée due to how salty it was. The can of gingerale was good though.

Osvaldo B.

Yelp
The most delicious food I have ever had. Order from Grubhub and it came fast and hot. General Tso Chicken was to die for. Really great The best I ever had and the chicken with garlic sauce was to die for. It was so good I called them up and told them thank you.

Vicky Z.

Yelp
THE BEST CHINESE FOOD RESTAURANT IN THE LOWER EAST SIDE! I love this restaurant!! The food is so affordable and so delicious. I love the chicken and broccoli & the general tsos chicken This is my new go to spot and I for sure will be back. I didn't seem to have a problem with any of the workers. They were all super welcoming and nice when I came in. Yummmmm
google avatar

Yelp
They have the best wings in New York. Ask for their special "salt n pepper wings". They now even duck which very good too.
google avatar

Phoebe J.

Yelp
Have you ever been sick, in bed, bent over in pain, from food poisoning? Welcome to Wa Lung Kitchen. I admit my food was OK- I had a simple corn soup. But there was something up with either my boyfriend's crab rangoon, egg roll or entree. He was in so much stomach pain, for days, that he couldn't sit up without a struggle or my help. Fever, chills, living in bathroom for hours a day. He could barely drink broth or even tea. It hurt to laugh out loud for 3 days (and I'm a very funny, silly housemate.. so this was the saddest part). Don't take a chance. Golden Forest over on Grand is perfectly fine (and safe) cheap chinese! http://www.yelp.com/biz/golden-forest-new-york
google avatar

Yelp
Best Chinese takeout in NYC! Best of the best! Been coming here for years. My favorites are General Chicken , Hot and Sour Soup, Chicken Wings and more.
google avatar

Lucy C.

Yelp
Let's not even talk about the extremely unappealing restaurant itself. Who knows what creepy crawlies were inches away from my food. Didn't want to think about it so I got take out. Luckily, the food wasn't that bad. For an american-chinese place it was actually kind of good. Good sesame/orange chicken. Wasn't a fan of the beef in the chow fun. Friends loved the egg foo young. String beans were probably the best here. Food alone, 3-4 stars. But taking into consideration the terrible state of the store and its sanitation, 2 stars overall.

Yelp
When I see the food, I nearly faint! Their food is simply amazing. Once the aroma of the food meets my nose, I just wanna cry out of happiness. I highly recommend the chicken and broccoli. It tastes amazing. And let's not forget about their chicken wings. In my opinion, it's one of the best in the lower east area. The food is spectacular and I wouldn't mind if I had to eat it everyday.
