Oversized Shawarma Sandwiches in Williamsburg — and Other Cheap Eats | Eater NY

"After closing in 2016 and later reopening in East Williamsburg above the L, WaFa’s expanded its menu and dining room; I now recommend its outsized shawarma sandwiches of lamb or chicken rolled in pita and dabbed with garlicky toum, and vegetarian combo platters that might include makdous (pickled eggplants stuffed with walnuts), moussaka (eggplant, chickpea, and tomato casserole), and little spinach pies." - Robert Sietsema

I recently visited Wafa's Kitchen and had a wonderful experience that I wanted to share. The owner, Wafa, is clearly passionate about her restaurant and it shows in every aspect of the dining experience. She takes the time to interact with customers personally, which creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You can tell she genuinely cares about ensuring guests have a positive visit. The customer service was excellent throughout my meal. They were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu items. They made helpful recommendations and checked in regularly to make sure everything was satisfactory. The service felt genuine rather than scripted, which I really appreciated.

We had a wonderful experience at Waffa’s Kitchen. The beef wrap and chicken shawarma wrap sandwiches were fantastic, with delicious and delightful flavors. The French fries were crispy, crunchy, and golden, cooked in clean oil, and tasted great. The berry smoothie was a different story—full of flavor and energy. The atmosphere is very friendly, and the staff are kind. Their hospitality and service are excellent, making us want to return. They truly know how to make their customers happy.

YOU BETTER COME TO THIS PLACE! I come here every morning for my breakfast before work, and it is exquisite! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the smoothies here. Their breakfast burritos are my favorite to eat! They do have really good specials for Lunch. If you ever stop by or near by I HIGHLY recommend stopping by and giving it a try! The owner Wafa is such a sweet and kind soul! <3

I had a Cuban sandwich which was $12, a fair price for the portion and quality of ingredients. The filling of the sandwich was spectacular, but what kept it from being a 5-star for me is that the bread was a non-toasted, thick sliced rye. Maybe it’s just a personal preference, but I like a thin, toasted/pressed ciabatta roll on a Cuban sandwich. That being said, you still get a good helping of pork and ham, the Mustard is great, pickles were crisp and sliced thick, etc. The substance of the sandwich was exceptional, but I found the bread underwhelming.

There aren’t many places downtown with the great taste and consistency like Wafa’s. Omelets are fulfilling and made with fresh ingredients. I’m now a regular. On top on great food the staff is very friendly and always able to address any issues I’ve had. Their online ordering also makes it easy to order ahead, pay, then pickup without having to wait in line. I’ve also had their burgers and they are amazingly delicious but I don’t think many people know about them. Fries are crispy and good too. Give them a try!

Stop at this little place in downtown Allentown on Hamilton Today. What a great little gem this place is. I grabbed a Cuban Sandwich which was pretty close to the style I used to get on Miami Beach, outstanding. My son had a cheeseburger which he said was really good. The customer service it phenomenal. Prices are unbelievable cheap for this high get district. Cuban sandwich ($8) with fries ($2) and a coke ($1.75) . I’ll definitely try this place out again next time I’m in downtown.
