"Popular Waffle House location under Eddie’s Attic music venue in Decatur Square closed abruptly on April 29. The staff was notified only days prior of the closing and were not given a reason. According to Decaturish, an employee says staffers will be offered positions at other Waffle House locations." - Henna Bakshi

Google
Waffle House always sticks to their motto: good food fast. I got my usual: all star with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns covered and smothered, and a chocolate chip waffle. The waffle house was pretty empty and it was just a chill night with my friends. We were well taken care of by Shonda who was familiar with my friends, who go more regularly than me. She was great with refilling our drinks and is super friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Visited at 7am on a Sunday. My friend and I came in rather loudly, but the waitress Stacey is was ready for us. She was very friendly and happy to help us. We sat down and ordered. The cook ,Keisha, I think was her name. She did an excellent job. Perfect eggs and hash browns. My friend was mad about his steak, but it wasn't her fault. The waffle was absolutely perfect! Overall a great experience.

My fiancé and I recently visited this location for Valentine's Day. It was such an incredible experience, and we can't wait to do it again. From the decorations to the overall atmosphere, Carla and the entire team made it an awesome, unique twist on Valentines Day. All of the staff was dressed up, and even the menu was different!! If you haven't made reservations for a Valentine's Day at Waffle House, you need to do it! Awesome location.

I went here at 12am and the service and food was just as good as I imagine it would have been during "normal" resturant hours. Maybe its just because I've been eating horrible college breakfasts for a while, but my food was so good I nearly cried with delight. The server was also very nice in that southern hospitality way. It feels almost too good to be true that WH is open all day and night. I hope they're paying their employees well enough to justify the insane hours.

I love this Waffle House. It's very clean inside, and the food is delicious and comes out fast. And the service is amazing!!! I really can't say enough good things about the employees here. Everyone is very friendly from the moment you walk in, and extremely attentive without being overbearing.

DANA, my waitress at this Waffle House is a step above the rest! I went in after court to use the restroom and get a glass of water while my bf was waiting outside for me. He gave me $5 to get a drink but after walking in to that delicious smell of waffles, i couldn't resist and got myself a blueberry waffle. Well, needless to say, i didn't have enough money. Without even a second thought, Dana said she'd cover the rest. I felt bad not being able to tip her but if i ever get back over there, I'll be better prepared. Regardless, that chick deserves a huge tip. So if anyone who's reading this happens to be visiting this location, hook this Dana chick up! Oh, and the waffle was off the chain too!

Everyone has been to a waffle house in their life time... With that being said we all know how it can go either way. This one was amazing. Food was on point and service was amazing. Super clean and the playlist kept giving. It was great.

Google
This quaint Decatur W H is largest indoor W. H. I have seen. Food was excellent and on point. Waitress was a bit slow with additional necessary items . She meant no harm. My companion and I both ate All Star special ✨️. Bill = $30 even and I left good tip. I'll be back and tip of the waffle 🧇 😋

Yelp
One of the best Waffle House locations! Earlier in the day I had the opportunity to check out the Waffle House museum / original location just down the street from this Waho. So it was definitely a Waho night! First, if you never been to Waffle House, stop reading reviews and just go. The experience at Waffle House is like no other. It's a perfect place to enjoy a fresh easy meal while making memories with some friends or family. I typically go to this location to eat in because the one by my house or does Togo after a certain time. I loved that they had the inside and outside of the restaurant decorated for the holidays. I always jump on the TouchTunes machine as soon as we arrive if there's no music playing. (Gotta set the vibe) The waitress we had was super sweet and friendly. My go to ordered is a bacon egg and cheese sammy, double order of hasbrowns covered, chunked, and peppered! It was a little busy when we got there but the food came out pretty quick. Thank you Waffle House for never letting me down.

Yelp
I can never drive by without think long about the pecan waffle. It's my guilty pleasure. Hey pecans are a good source of protein so I don't feel guilty actually. lol. I should probably try other items in the menu but I always order a pecan waffle and sausage. I ordered online and my order was ready when I arrived. The staff were very nice and full of energy. The restaurant was decorated for the holiday season. The vibe was very festive and upbeat.

Yelp
Love this Waffle House location! It is the first waffle house in United States. The facility is clean and well maintained. There's always rush here so coming earlier or after lunch hour is recommended. The staff is friendly and helpful. The service is great but usually takes longer to get served here, it is worth the wait. The orders are accurate and coffee is made to your liking. They serve combo platters and a la crate. They offer dine in and to go. There is ample of parking in the standalone lot. They're open 24/7 however they only do to go after 9 pm. Highly recommend visiting this location.

Yelp
Love this Waffle House. Best one in the 5 mile radius. Got here just in time before the big rush on Wednesday before Thanksgiving morning. Order the regular (not that we eat at Waffle House that often)...Grilled Cheese, Sausage Patties cooked well, and order of Hash Browns covered. Nothing else needed. Ordered the hash browns crispy and they were perfect. Right amount of onions covering the potatoes...smothered not needed this time with the perfectly grilled cheese sandwich. Service some of the best ever. Sad part that we learned was that Waffle House employees don't get time and a half hourly wages working on Thanksgiving Day. They only get two holidays that they get extra pay. Please tip these great, hard working people well. Will definitely return to Avondale Waffle House.

J David H.

Yelp
I do love Waffle House, but keeping it real. This was very average. The cool factor is that it's within one mile of WH #1 which is now a museum. Unfortunately it's not open much of the year. Parking was spacious, however minor debris Service was average with needing to ask for refills of coffee Food was above average with an All-star Cleanliness was below average with dirty counter and minor debris Checkout was above average as took card at the counter as opposed to stabs at the register. I would skip this one as they are every where in Atlanta.

Zach C.

Yelp
Been to this location several times now. Being right down the street from the Waffle House museum probably plays a part in the quality. The service and food seems to be much better than at other locations, but it is still Waffle House after all.

Laurie D.

Yelp
Went to waffle house for the first time today! Visiting my niece for a couple days in Decatur. Greeted with a smile upon arrival. Kisha was our server. She was warm, kind, and treated us so well. The food was so good we enjoyed watching the staff work so well together. Many families there with little kids.

Daniel A.

Yelp
Ok, yes it's not super fancy food but it was fun enjoying a Waffle House right next to to where it started. The food is what you would expect but the staff was super friendly and the food came out super quickly. Was very happy with my Waffle House experience, it's consistent and the staff are always some of the nicest people

Jaz'Min L.

Yelp
The cashier waited for like 20-25 min between each person in line JUST TO PLACE A TO GO ORDER cuz the cook was moving slow as POND WATER. I will go to the other nearest location moving forward before I ever step foot in here again. Ridiculous to wait forever for an order of FOOD at a fast food joint. Customer service sucks and the owners should reconsider who they have working laste nights. It's 3am and everyone walking in and walking right back out after waiting for ages. Cashier has not budged since I have been in here. Only option for food outside of the other Waffle House location up the street. Never again. Do better. We are leaving now. I'd rather starve tonight

Tanisha B.

Yelp
This staff at this location seems to be over work and unmotivated at this location. This may be my last time going to this location. They also had ants crawling around in that window Seal/ table and it freaked me out. The only reason I ate at this location is because one person in my party was starving and they offered to pay fir everybody meal.

Darren H.

Yelp
Well this place can be a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde, the morning crew is really good and on it. Orders get put in quickly and out to the customers. The staff is friendly and things are bright. Now if you have to stop by at night it's an entirely different animal. skeleton staff (that's to be expected these days) but wait staff acts like they don't want to be at work & you are bothering them by coming in and ordering food. For breakfast this is my spot but to pick up something quick for dinner not so much.

Chris E.

Yelp
Waffle House is good old fashion morning (or middle of the night) goodness, whichever you prefer. When you step into a Waffle House, you pretty much know what you're getting into, and this one is no different than any other one I've been to. Same design, same menu breakfast/lunch items, same type of service. During a recent trip to the ATL, we just HAD to visit a Waffle House because Atlanta is THE home of Waffle House after all. In fact, the very 1st Waffle House, which is now an abandoned-looking museum, was located just a few blocks down the road from this very location, the 1000th Waffle House ever. Nothing at this location was surprising during our visit. The menu was exactly the same as all other Waffle Houses. Since it was the day after July 4th at 10 AM, the restaurant had plenty of customers inside and had a steady stream throughout. When we walked in, we weren't greeted, nor directed to a table, so we took the initiative and planted ourselves down by the counter. The service was meh during our time here. Nobody was going out of their way to be friendly to us, but the waitress did her job as needed. Our food was prepared quickly and brought to us when expected. I ordered the All-Star Special (2 eggs, toast, hash browns and waffle) with sausage, while my wife ordered the Two Egg Breakfast (eggs, toast, hash browns) with sausage. Everything was pretty typical. The breakfast was a solid cheap meal. The one thing that really did stand out though was the waffle because I changed it to a peach waffle. I don't know if it was a nationwide promotion or just a Georgia thing, but the peach waffle was available for a limited time only, and it was without question probably the best thing I ever ordered at a Waffle House. The waffle was so simple. It had some peace filling inside and the peace sauce added on top made it even more delicious. Mind you I was sober during this meal, but if I had been drinking, this might have been the greatest thing ever. Like I said, this is a decent Waffle House location. I'm sure there are "better" ones out there, in terms of cleanliness and service, but if you're looking to go in and out quickly, this location does the trick.

Yelp
I have been coming to this waffle house for many many years, although every time those experiences have varied will keep continuing to come back much as I can. This Waffle House Has always been a place I can come and joy at any time.

Brent N.

Yelp
I was there this morning. I had already ditched one because no one offered to take my order... This one started better, however they slipped in the rating quickly. After I got my food at the counter, service ceased. The 5-6 staff members could not distract themselves from their screaming (not kidding!) conversations to spend any time on customers. They were having fun, but this was very unprofessional. I had to interrupt the conversation to get a coffee refill. They also overcharged me on the check. Food was the usual. Not sure I would come back here. I certainly would avoid the counter. I felt like I was in the way of a party.

Juli F.

Yelp
Left hungry after 10 minutes at the counter of being ignored. They don't say hello to anyone, so it wasn't just me. It's weird when they are close enough to touch but so busy talking to each other that they can't say hi. As I could see how disorganized it was behind the counter and I was sitting next to a dirty dish the whole time - well, there is a way better location on S Columbia. Kafenio is immaculate, 2 blocks away, and I can look at the museum. Hope they cheer up and get in gear, as the whole chain was founded here, and I feel nostalgia for it.

Britny J.

Yelp
I never enjoyed Waffle House until I ate at this one. It's my mine and my husbands go to breakfast spot on the weekend. The coffee is strong, and the crew here is always friendly and the food is always good. My husband is a bacon snob and said their bacon is always cooked to perfection. Yes sometimes you have to wait but the service and food is worth it. Honestly, compared to just about everything g other place we've been to in Atlanta this place has good customer service.

Articulate M.

Yelp
God, I wrote the wrong review about this Waffle House, but it wasn't no better than the one I wrote which belongs to the one in Downtown Decatur... This place is SLOOOOWWWWW. Went on a Sunday morning. NOT BUSY. SERIOUSLY. Ten people behind the register gossipping and fighting for room, since they were overstaffed and not enough service being handled. It took two waitresses not changing shifts forty minutes to take me and my friend's orders. Granted, all we got were two All Stars with extra eggs. It took thirty more minutes for us to get HALF the food, since the 2 cooks decided to play Kitchen Hell and forgot parts of our orders. It took another forty-five minutes to get the bill because they were wrapping silverware and gossiping, and we sat dead smack in front of the register. #ANOTHER WAFFLE HOUSE FAILURE.

Diana T.

Yelp
ZERO rating if I could. ..My Sweetie and I went in around 9:30pm this evening just to get a grilled cheese sandwich and cup of black coffee....when we walked in, there were 6 employees standing behind the counter, looking at us- no one spoke...There were no other customers in the place...We sat in a booth close to the grill...10 minutes went by and NO ONE came over to our booth...NO ONE!...We got up and left!! HORRIBLE SERVICE...NO SERVICE ACTUALLY!!

Andrew S.

Yelp
Best Waffle House I've been to, and I've been to them up and down the Southeast. Waitress was on point, food was immaculate. Extremely clean and quiet. The perfect southern diner.

Jim H.

Yelp
I was there 11-11:45 a.m. approximately for a waffle, bacon side, and coffee with three creamers. Service was atrocious, to put it mildly. After shouting for service a worker asked around to find out who was covering my area. I had to say my order twice, because the waitress kept forgetting the particulars. Then I had to ask for a spoon and then, later, for a knife. From where I was sitting I could see the entire back area of the work space. A worker opened a refrigerator and out dropped two creamers. She picked them off the dirty floor and put them back in the refrigerator. The waitresses were wearing masks, but not the line cooks. There was loud irritating tinney sounding "music" emitted by an overhead speaker. I've heard better from a K-mart. No one put a ticket on my table. I was invisible? So I waited at the register until someone noticed. That someone knew my bill price even though she had not been my attendant. My indifferent attendant was, I think, Sarah, but she didn't give a rat's behind if I were a fire plug or a dead body. She got no tip.

Julia G.

Yelp
This is the best Waffle House I've ever been too!! They are so nice and it is so clean!!

Chris C.

Yelp
Never been to a Waffle House before, so I was a bit hesitant before going in. This place did not disappoint! Now, the food was good, not great, but I'm judging this one mainly in the level of service we received... Our server's name was Curtella (not sure on the spelling), and she was awesome! Super attentive, constantly checking on us and reassuring us that the things we would ask for would be there very soon... Just overall excellent service with her. I think she refilled my coffee like 5 times without me having to ask. Score! I was not expecting such great service from this place, being unfamiliar with the chain (or the south, in general). Oh, and coffee to go at no extra charge? Yes please!

Diamond H.

Yelp
Went after renovations was done, 10 minutes before I was greeted, another 10 before my order was taken, I ordered the all star breakfast my order was taken incorrectly, wait time for my food was way too long, My bowl was dirty, and didn't get my waffle until the very last minute.

J. N. M.

Yelp
Horrible service. Took About 15 minutes to get coffee, staff was arguing in kitchen with only 5 customers in store.

Khryshtal H.

Yelp
The hash browns are to die for!!!! I can't wait to go back!!!this is the original one that first opened. The girls in there were very nice and the waitress was very sweet. When I go back to visit again....I will be going to this Waffle House. FOREVER A CUSTOMER

Mark T.

Yelp
IT TAKES EXPERIENCE TO APPRECIATE THE WAFFLE HOUSE, to notice differences in perfection, variations among meals and what is truly good from what is claimed to be excellent by under-achieving foodies who give bad food a bad name simply because they don't know any better. Myself being an under-achieving know-it-all, going to Waffle House is difficult. Enjoying one during the day is impossible and never an option, but dining there in the dead of night is the best and only time to attend these yellow shacks of butter-infused-bacon-waffle goodness. At 1:30 a.m. after writing all day with a brief disruption of beer, beef, and more writing, I sit here thinking, counting the minutes and contemplate waking up my girlfriend and dragging her to a 3 a.m. meal. Sure it's always an option when you're coming home from the bars or a night out at MJQ, but really - and I mean this with the seriousness of a bitter twenty-something... go somewhere else. Waffle House is best for the serious, for those who work overnight, or their shift starts at 4 a.m. The better ones, the ones just off highway exits or in bad neighborhoods, those are the ones you want and that no group looking to soak up their alcohol bloodstreams should choose as their after hours food spot. Sitting at the counter, eating my perfectly balanced plate of a greasy sandwich variation with absolutely perfect hash browns and bitter coffee puts me in a mood not happy to see them. Sitting there with the 3rd shift of every job filling the seats and booths is comforting - even if I am only an occasional weekend visitor. The food is excellent. It's what you should expect and if you expect anything different from the food or the service, then you're not there for the same reason as the rest of us at 3 a.m. Find a great location and the food rivals any breakfast spot, seriously. It's not for everyone. It's not for the happy-customer-service-oriented diners who want to be treated 'right' - and that is exactly why I like it.

Sarah T.

Yelp
I am someone who appreciates Waffle House for what it is; a greasy 24-hour glorious mecca for delicious waffles, truckers, late-night drunkards, and freaks from all walks of life. I love it first thing in the morning, or in the middle of the night. Sober, or in an altered state. With a group of friends, or alone at the counter. If you don't have this understanding of Waffle House, then chances are you won't ever appreciate it. This particular one is closest to my house, and I've been averaging one visit a month over the last few months. Every time, I've had exceptional service, and the food is just as inviting as the hundred times before, at a few dozen different Waffle Houses I've called my own. For a true Waffle House experience with a friendly staff, make a visit to this great Decatur location!

Rae H.

Yelp
Didn't get to eat.... I work 5 minutes away from this Waffle House and take a one hour lunch. Two co-workers and I came for lunch. We waited 45 minutes for our food and had to leave hungry because our order still wasn't done! The store was not particularly crowded and we received not even an apology when we left, even though the sound of our stomachs rumbling must have been deafening.

Lindsay W.

Yelp
This was my 2nd visit to a Waffle House and it was great. We went without the kids on a Sunday morning and it was a packed house. The service was not super fast, but I did not mind. I loved how my coffee cup stayed full and hot. My waffle came out way before the rest of the food. Our server offered to make me a new one. So nice! How the people on the line remember all of the orders being shouted at them, I have no idea!

Frances W.

Yelp
This Waffle House has changed allot in the past years, and if you haven't been there in the past 6 months, I'm warning you, don't bother EVER coming back here again. Yes, it's gone that far down hill. In the last month I've experienced some of the worst possible service here. Here are a few: HAIR IN FOOD OVER PRICING EVEN THOUGH THE MENU IS STILL ON THE TABLE BRINGING OUT THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU ORDERED RUDE SERVICE DIRTY TABLES SLOW SERVICE AND BEING COMPLETELY IGNORED BY THE WAITRESSES Honestly last night takes the cake, though they are always rude and slow. -First the waitress makes us wait to take our order, because she's out smoking. -Second when she brings over my water she spills it all over me, I swear she must be a magician because magic must have been involved to push the glass over in the manner she preformed. I start cleaning up the water with napkins and my dress is already soaked. My mother and I our so exhausted that we just laugh and don't get mad at her. We tell her everything is okay...but guess what she's not sorry for spilling the water but pissed off at our laughter...the nerve -It took the cook over 30 minutes to make my omelet... the restaurant was almost empty. so I just sat there drinking my nasty coffee (thank god she didn't spill that on me) Finally when my food comes out, it;s mediocre just like always. - I ask our waitress for some water at this point, in a new glass because it spilled on the floor (her fault) and the only thing in it is the ice that I cleaned off the seat. She looks at me for 30 seconds like I'm speaking German. -The waitress ignores us for the rest of the experience and goes outside to smoke, she's gone for 25+ minutes and we never see her again. So all the customers start complaining and pitching fits. - NOW HERE'S THE WORST PART!! My mom asks the cook or whatever she is, for some water, (at this point 2/2 waitresses are outside smoking or whatever) and the cook just wobbles by and says "Eh...I'll get around to it" She doesn't get us water and goes outside with the waitresses. Now the only people in the restaurant are the customers and the workers stay outside for 10 minutes. We shouldn't have paid for our food at all, but we did, at least we didn't tip, not like the waitress was inside anyways.

Stormtrooper H.

Yelp
This used to be my go to WH since it's basically the first one (across the street from the origonal site and museum) but when I went yesterday the service was super slow and the place was a mess with standing water on the floor. I love WH and I don't expect them the be spotless, but this place was a real mess and none of the staff seemed to care.

Rene F.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong - I know breakfast spots are hoppin' on Sat am's. But holy s**t, I felt like I was put on the back burner because I had a to-go order. I also paid upon ordering, which no one else did. So not only did I HAVE to wait for my food, I had to wait behind people who still needed to pay for their orders. I saw dine-in customers that came in after me, get their food before me. Not to mention there were 5 people standing around staring at each other while to-go people built up in one line. Not going back unless I have time to sit around and wait.

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
It's a Waffle House, they have the standard Waffle House menu and decor. It is the Waffle House closest to Downtown Decatur. I enjoy Waffle House, hence the four stars. This Waffle House is located steps from the original Waffle House which is now the Waffle House Museum (which can be viewed by appointment only, I have yet to make an appointment). My favorite memory from this particular Waffle House is when a local homeless man came in and pulled out five crisp dollar bills and put them in the jukebox and played every single song on there by Johnny Cash. It was about 3 a.m. and Folsom Prison seemed oddly appropriate.

Laura D.

Yelp
How I love Waffle House! When it's not busy in this location, they sometimes turn the music up, making a delicious experience even more fun. Friendly service, and even with all my oddball requests (one slice of cheese not two in my eggs, dry toast, and can you put, like, half the amount of oil in the hash browns?) I never get evil looks from any of the employees.

Jacquelyn M.

Yelp
This is by far one of the best Waffle Houses that I have had the pleasure of visiting. The staff if friendly and will remember you. This isn't limited to jus the wait staff, even the cooks take the time to know notice who orders which meals. I'm usually stopping in here on second and third shift during the week. I'm know for always getting my cup in a Togo cup, being the weird girl who likes chewy bacon, and liking to have my hash-browns steamed instead of fried. Not every time but I like to rotate through the menu. Its a great place where people bring there kids and even older couples come to have a simple meal. Always happy to come here and have a bite to eat. :)

Domonic B.

Yelp
Ahhhhh...good ole Waffle House! Nothing like hitting up this place whenever the hell you want! I had to give this location a solid 4 stars because they are always there for me when I need a late night, fat boy moment! I'm reminiscing over the All star special that I always get and it's always satisfying! Nothing about this place stands out from any of the other Waffle House locations but this is MY Waffle House....there are many like it but this is mine. I'll continue to frequent....Pecan Waffle, cheese eggs, raisin toast with apple butter, sausage, & plenty of syrup....yeah I think I need to visit again after writing this review....good ol Waffle House....it just makes my soul happy!

John F.

Yelp
Get cheese on everything. Cheese on your hash browns scrambled eggs and waffle. Ignore the sour mop water smell.

Karen P.

Yelp
It sucks that I have to give this location a one star because my fiancé and I used to come to it all the time and it was amazing but tonight was just the complete opposite. Upon being the only couple in the restaurant it took the cook 1 hour to give us over cooked eggs and messed up orders it probably didn't help that he was more focused on telling everyone how hungry he was and what he was going to make for himself afterwards. I asked for over easy eggs and I got eggs that looks like hard boiled eggs and then got run over with a car. And my fiancé's hash browns were not what he ordered when we told Denise our server she snatched the plate from his hands and took it back without saying a word to us. She literally wouldn't even look at us when we were checking out and anything we asked for like refills we got no response. 5 mins after we get our food the cook has made himself a plate and is sitting down eating right across from us. I'm very disappointed in this experience.
