Waffle House

Very poor service. Tables were dirty with leftover food and dishes, no greeting or acknowledgment from staff despite several employees present. We waited with no attention and left. Went to another Waffle House nearby and had a great experience there. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had at a Waffle House. When we arrived, all the available tables were very dirty — with leftover food, dirty dishes, and cups still on them. We sat down anyway, expecting someone to greet us or at least acknowledge us, as is common at other Waffle House locations. There were at least five staff members visible in the kitchen, walking by multiple times, but no one greeted us, cleaned the table, or told us they would be with us soon. We sat there for quite a while and received no attention at all. It felt like they simply had no interest in serving us. It was disappointing and frustrating, so we decided to leave and went to another Waffle House nearby, where we were warmly greeted, seated at a clean table, and served without any issues. This location could definitely improve its customer service and cleanliness.

Great food as always. Everything was tasty. Good coffee and nice staff. It was very busy. Waited for 40 min. Reasonable prices!

Visited from Hawaii and was greatly impressed by the attentiveness of the staff. I love Waffle House and felt at peace while eating my hash brown bowl and chocolate chip waffle. Coffee had a great temperature too.

Great staff, our waitress Sam clearly knew what she was doing, called back our orders, and gave quick friendly service. Our drinks were never empty and the food was served fast. I didn't catch the name of the person manning the grill, but everything was cooked to perfection. Even the new girl in training was bubbly and friendly. I also liked how the trained her kindly on how to call orders rather than scolding her. Seems like good management.

Food was amazing. The wait was long, we waited half an hour to get a table then another half to get our food.

Delicious food and great service. Lexy (Twist) was the best! I saw her interaction with the people next to us and everyone felt welcomed, hard to find. Grits were delicious and of course waffles were on point! Was here for 8am breakfast and man, great start to our beach trip. Thank you!

My son and I drove from Baltimore 7/30/2025 to see Lil Wayne @ Jiffy Lube Live. We stayed over night and made a special trip to Waffle House on the way home and man o' man am I glad we did! Our waitress "Samiaha" was EXCELLENT! She was polite, attentive and all over a pleasure to deal with. My son got the Sausage muffin and said it was delicious. I got the breakfast meal with eggs over easy (perfectly cooked), bacon (again, perfectly cooked) and a waffle (for the last time, perfectly cooked!). I have no complaints whatsoever and would definitely make it a must to visit there if/when we are in the area again.

I love Waffle House and this location did not disappoint! I went on a Friday morning around 0800. Some tables needed to be cleaned but they were hopping with customers. The two of us sat at the counter and were quickly served. The food was great, bacon and hasbrowns SO crispy! Hub's waffle steamy and yet crispy. I can't wait to come back because we don't have Waffle House where I live (St. Mary's County, Md. and that's a travesty).

The food as awsome as you can tell only left half for the photo lol..the service was fast the was a older women in her 60's helping us and she was quick and she even made our food I think this is the best Waffle House I ate all year ..will definitely recommend come here 10/10..

Beware, from 830pm-600am they only have TO GO service. You CANNOT sit in! The 'waitress' didn't come to the pickup window after I knocked thrice. I witnessed a man walked up to the pickup window and she didn't respond to him either. By the time I pulled off, he was waiting at the order window and she still hadn't turned around. Unless it's before 830pm, DO NOT seek out this location.

We're from FL where there are Waffle Houses everywhere, here in VA, not so much. We drove 30 min for this location and were NOT disappointed! From the service, the smiles, the energy and of course the food, we felt like we were back home!! We will definitely be back! Thank you to everyone there for making this pregnant woman and her hubby happy!!

I had a decent experience at this Waffle House. My experience was more or less on par with other Waffle Houses (primarily in Hampton Roads, VA), which has been good, that I have visited over the years. Our waitress, Tammy, was pretty good with taking our orders and following up with us. Our food came out pretty fast, and it was everything that we expected. I wonder if this is a super popular Waffle House location in the Dumfries area. When we arrived around 11 am on a weekday, we were a bit surprised that pretty much all of the seats were occupied. Fortunately, for us, we managed to grab the last booth so we did not have to wait for seat. During our next road trip, we hope to visit this location again...especially since it's the closest one to us (even though it's about 30 miles away).

Well, apparently after 8:30pm, I shudnt try to eat here. 8:30pm-6am is To Go Only. Someone was at the window, and 2 other persons were inside whn I drove up; however, the one disappeared as I walked up to the window. I stared at the menu in the window for several minutes and I am ready to order. Subsequently, no one was present to whom I cud give my order. I counted down 5 more seconds and walked away. I opened Yelp and, to my surprise, 4 more ppl came out of the bk in uniform. I have rarely been so disappointed and ashamed to attempt to quench hunger & thirst only to be silently ignored. This was actually a second visit to this particular Waffle House; we were disappointed that the indoor dining doesn't open until 6 AM, considering it's open for 24 hours. I'm thinking it's because the chain is trying to avoid all the craziness that occurs during certain hours! Waffle House offers breakfast plates, hashbrown bowls, waffles, biscuits, breakfast sandwiches, Texas melts, sandwiches, burgers, and eve lunch/dinner options. We ordered: +the Two Egg Breakfast - eggs with toast, jelly, and a side of hashbrowns or grits; the hubs opted for scrambled eggs with hashbrowns +built-your-own hashbrowns - I had it 'smothered' (sauteed with onions) and 'double covered'(with melted cheese), adding in jalapenos; the cheese was a bit coagulated, and both the onions and the diced jalapenos were just super minimal; edges of the hashbrowns were crispy, but could have been more crispy overall, as I did request this to be extra crispy There is a separate order and a pick-up window; orders took about 15 minutes, and the staff is pretty good in recognizing you/your vehicle if you're waiting for your order. Don't forget to request ketchup and/or hot sauce; these come in individual packs. Plenty of parking. +order and pick-up windows available +indoor dining doesn't begin until 6 AM +parking available

This is always a staple whenever we travel down the southern coast. This is basically fast food comfort food. There is limited seating but we were able to get a few seats at the counter which is totally fine with me. Service was excellent and our orders came out with minutes. It was borderline amazing. And the food wasn't just sitting around pre-made; I watched them prepare everything. Everything is fresh, waffles are very good and the price point can't be beat. Just remember to get some onions, peppers (which are jalapeño... my kid found out the hard way) or cheese and you have an excellent breakfast during your drive.

This is the closest Waffle House location to Washington DC. This has always been my go-to location for the convenience. However, the quality of the food, the cleanliness, and the customer service can be hit or miss depending on who's working that shift. Wait times can be elevated, tables can be sticky, and servers can be unintentive and rude. However, my most recent visit was for a to-go order, which took a bit, but it wasn't too bad. The food was typical. I always expect more from this location, as I'm sure they're making money from all of the people who are traveling on the interstate, as well as those who are from the Washington DC area looking for that Waffle House, the traditional Waffle House experience.

It's a Waffle House. If I need to review it for you don't go!! Simply a delicious, inexpensive, perfectly greasy, Navy mid-watch coffee, breakfast joint.

Terrible experience!!! We have frequented this location for years, experiencing good service and food. That was not the case this morning! We were completely ignored and eventually left! There seems to have been a whole sale turnover of staff which probably means new management and previous staff left. We believe that we were likely snubbed because we are caucasian. What a shame.

What could improve? Hairnets, sanitation, more training. We sat and watched one of the cooks sweep food off the counter with his hands, with the same gloves "he never once changed in our time there" he resumed to cooking & touching all over the food, touched someone's to-go orders with those same gloves. Food quality: The grits had chunks the size of golf balls. When returning it's like they had attitudes. Meat was undercooked had to send that back. How do you serve undercooked porkchops? Pork bacon, chicken sausage all good on grills at same time. They had one young cook "guy with braces" who could definitely use a raise. He was tentative to everything. Kept his gloves changed, cleaned..they definitely need more like him there. Then you have the girls with no hair nets, rubbing through there hair, not washing there hands or putting gloves on before touching plates.

Clean & Friendly. I stop at this particular Waffle House every two weeks when I come to visit my grand kids. There is normally a long line and a packed house. But I never wait too long for my carry out order. The staff is so friendly and "Twist" is an absolute joy to interact with. I've never had to return anything, EVERYTHING has been perfect for me each time I go. The food is good the grits are seasoned perfectly. This Waffle House reminds me why I miss them so much when I moved more north!

This Waffle House is located on Route 234 in Dumfries, VA - right off I-95. It's the closest Waffle House to where I live - the next closet Waffle Houses to Haymarket are Fredericksburg, VA and Charles Town, WV... I stopped in for a late breakfast. As others have noted - this is not the cleanest place. I sat at the counter area - on the left hand side - which is lower than the rest of the counter seats. I ordered coffee, plus a Sausage, egg, and cheese bowl over hash browns, and a side of bacon. The food took about 15 minutes to come up - the bowl came up first. BUT - the bowl they delivered to me was not what I ordered. The bowl I was given had bacon in it - not the sausage I ordered. But I was so hungry - that I did not want to wait another 15 minutes for them to correctly remake my order. The hash browns on top were crispy - but the potatoes farther down were a little on the gummy side - they needed to be crispier. I asked for hot sauce and ketchup - the only hot sauce they have is Tabasco sauce - so I added some of that, salt and pepper, and ketchup to the bowl. Overall, a tasty bowl, even made incorrectly. They had music playing through the overhead speakers - that was turned up so loud - I had to speak very loudly to my server. I then asked if they could reduce the volume. I was told apologetically - that they could not turn it down - as no one could find the remote. I almost left - it was really loud. Eventually someone managed to turn the music off about halfway through my meal. I was done eating the bowl by the time the side of bacon arrived. Service was average. Paid with Apple Pay, tipped in cash. #WaffleHouse

Best experience I had in a long time, I went to Orlando recently and that experience was terrible here it was perfect hardly anyone in the diner food was right I missed having this kind of experience in years.

Love this place. Spent my "unique" twenties, going here after the bars shut down. Nothing solves a potential hangover like Waffle House. Was so happy when Anthony Bourdain, spoke so pleasantly about this chain. The employees here continue excellence. This past visit server was phenomenal. Love how the staff sing beautifully, while they cook waffles, hash browns, bacon, and other dishes. Truly a friendly group of ladies, whom made me feel right at home. My only complaint is minor. There aren't a lot of parking spots. Other than that, it's what I remembered it. Good food made in front of you, for a very reasonable cost. This is a true diner environment. Come as you are, and the coffee still is strong and tasty. Enjoyed the meal and time here. Will be returning soon, as definitely was a stroll down memory lane. Definitely go here.

Came here on Saturday morning, the ambiance was crowed but tolerable, ended up waiting about 10 mins until I got a call saying my table was ready . I ordered the all star special with sausage, my waffle was a lil burnt but still tasted good . Definitely will be back .

The one Waffle House to avoid. Slow service, no drink refills, cold food, bad attitudes. Waited almost and hour for drinks. Food came a little while after. Order was somewhat wrong (eggs all came scrambled). Had to ask for condiments (had to get up and approach waitress, Sylvia). Waffles were cold and not served with syrup (grabbed a syrup container off the diner/bar). Other customers were pretty unhappy as well. Odd, as there were no less than 6 employees about. Will not return to this locale.

The food was great there was a lot of people here there was a lot of staff, the music was loud I told them to it down but they didn't couldn't even hear myself, the waitress was nice.

Ambiance, action, thrill, theatre. This is Waffle House has it all. Although I've occasionally (less than 5% of the time) gotten the odd wrong thing in my order, I've never once minded. The people are incredibly hard working, kind, and courteous, and deserve the world. I come here so often that I'm starting to learn the names of the staff, which just goes to show how delicious and affordable their food is. I cannot sing their praises enough!

My son Troy loves chocolate chip Everything. Especially chocolate chip pancakes at IHOP or any where they're served for that matter. In all this time he's never had chocolate chip waffles. So we stopped in at this waffle house. All waffle houses are pretty much the same for me, however, the team at this waffle house specifically Ms.Lexie our waitress, Uncle Boo grill master and Mr. Tristan, the Manager made this visit great. Ms. Lexie was attentive but still showed great multitasking skills and professionalism, Uncle Boo was a whirl on the grill and Mr. Tristan was a team player ensuring that everything ran smoothly and this teamwork was readily apparent. Needless to say anytime my son needs his next chocolate chip breakfast craving, this waffle house will be our go-to.

I got here at 2pm, seated at 210pm, got a menu at 215pm and it is now 249pm and I got my tea and place my order and that's it. Everyone else here at the low bar is still waiting on their food. There are 7 people working in the kitchen. What in the world are they doing back there? Is anyone in charge here? Completely clueless! I got my waffle at 253pm, bacon at 257pm and hash browns finally at 307pm. There were 2 ladies that got seated when I did and they still didn't have ANY food in over an hour. There were at least 4 tables that had plates on them that needed clearing and people were waiting to get seated. When I went to pay, there were only 3 people working in the kitchen. There was no one that appeared to be a manager or in charge anywhere. This Waffle House used to be good with great, fast service. No idea what has happened, but I won't be returning any time in the future.

Service here for sale is terrible. The employees seem to hit their job matter what day. I realize that they have to put up with a lot of crazy people and that's unfortunate for that but I feel like it's waffle house they have the best waffles in the world get it together Waffle House managers. for the waffles.

This location is extremely slow for the amount of workers. This is coming from someone who worked food service for four years. They have a lot of people there, but they could be better employed to get things moving faster. They were often standing around, crowding, doing less than they could be. Wait to dine in was 45 minutes so we chose to order to go. Stood in front for 15 mins w/o anyone taking our order. Then ordered online, with a 20 minute wait. The order wasn't ready for an additional 30 minutes after.

It's Waffle House what more can you say having pecan waffles and a burger patty hot coffee! Have not eaten at one in at least 12 years. If you are traveling through a southern state find a Waffle House

Great waffle house experience. Super nice employees and quick food. Everything was great and came out correctly. The waffles had some black on them from the waffle iron, but that is OK and to be expected. Great experience.

Personnel are constantly shouting, arguing and dropping equipment loudly. One particular comment went like this: "your Waffle House people are your enemy" to another coworker. Restroom smelled of cigarette smoke. Food was as expected.

I have lived in Dumfries , my whole life. And I have overlooked a lot of stuff at this place for years. The uncleanliness The bad service, most of the time All because the food was OK But tonight I arrived at 9:30 PM - coming from the Chick-fil-A across the street. Hoping for a better experience. But this place does not take dine - in Guests after 9 PM Which is crazy because it's a 24 Hour Place ! I've literally never been to a waffle house that doesn't seat you. So I stood outside of this place until 10:20 PM It took almost an hour to get 2 waffles & 5 Scrambled eggs. I will never be returning to this place, and it was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant so far

Drove 45 mins to Dumfries,VA location just for them to only do to go orders from 9PM-6AM. Okay thats fine but what's not okay is I got here at 5:30 AM...waited til 6AM just for them to say we don't open till 6:30-7AM...like what?! They turned down 6 customers. I tried to call before walking up to the door to ask this question because its cold and I'm pregnant. I see the girl look at the phone ring and put it down to proceed to hug the other male employee in there with here. Maybe its a good idea I didn't eat here because I did see him smoking inside while cooking to go orders which is disgusting af. Waffle House should be ashamed!

Just as sticky and greasy as ever and as crazy as it sounds... I would'nt have it any other way. On our trips down south we make it a tradition to have breakfast on the road at a Waffle House and this one was the first for my wife many years ago so along with a true southern breakfast a bit of nostalgia. Bustling with locals and road warriors we sat at the bar and had the grits with extra whipped butter and a dash of hot sauce, Pancakes,white toast,hash browns,over easy eggs,sausage patties,bacon, coffee and a large orange juice.....so basically a light breakfast in the south. Everthing was as remembered and so comforting, service was friendly and I even got called Hon in true Waffle house fashion and all was right with the world. I love this place.

Waffle House is what it is - a place to get good food fast. Nothing fancy. But good. The staff are friendly and the service is pretty quick. The place could use a good cleaning- maybe shut down for a few hours a week and actually clean it. But overall, we had fun and got what we paid for.

Otherworldly atmosphere, clean interior, and respectful staff. Rolled in at late evening, obviously my order was taken quickly and prepared quickly, those were some damn good waffles.

The Waffle House is the best breakfast around It's simple! Eggs, Bacon, Toast & Waffles. What more can anyone want?? We need more of them in NOVA. Please one to Fairfax!!

Waffle House locations are all pretty much the same as far as food goes. What sets them all apart is the service. There are some servers who have worked there forever and some who are rather new. The long time servers are fast and efficient but it is clear that this job takes a toll on them. I truly wish a smile was a mandatory part of the uniform! Our server was not very attentive. We had to ask for refills and the food did not come out at the same time. It was frustrating since I could see her as she walked past our table without checking in. As for the food, the waffles were good. The hash browns were cooked perfectly! I always ask for them well done so they are crispy. As a side note, the day we visited the server informed us that they had no running water. Hmmmmm..... She told us we could have milk or juice to drink. Considered leaving because I really wanted coffee! She essentially said that was fine but it would be a really long way to another WH. We stayed. Other people were getting coffee so I asked and she said she had some. Well that would have been nice to know! Ended up sending the coffee back because it was strong enough to put hair on the most hardened sailor. Will I go back? Probably. It is the only one close to home. (it is over 30 minutes away!) Will I still wish the employees were consistently happy, welcoming, and attentive. Maybe a present manager would have helped to keep the pace.

This location is closed for remodel. There are no notifications anywhere on the internet regarding the closure. Hopefully folks read this and/or call before driving a long distance to get there only to learn they are shuttered. Such a waste of time and gas.

Has to be my favorite Waffle House to date. They were super friendly and very nice. You can tell the crew enjoyed each other's company. I had my normal hash brown and it was amazing.

They do not post their restaurant hours properly. They close fine in after 8 and the employees are rude.

Doesn't get any better than Waffle House for late night eats. I stopped in with a friend. I had the pecan waffle and he had the patty melt. I'm never disappointed when I go there. Great service. Great food!

This has to be one of the worst waffle houses out there. This is my second time here and both times the service was atrocious! I had to ask to order and the ladies response was give me a second while she was texting on her phone! Not to mention the entire time I was there, she was playing on the phone with her toddler. There were 2 other employees just sitting across from Her in the tables that clearly heard me ask for service and just sat there. I will make sure that I never stop here again in my life and warn ever human being to do the same!!

This is exactly what you would expect from a Waffle House. Great, cheap, and quick food, okay wait staff and a homey environment. They have the best food after a long night out, nothing beats a $7 colossal breakfast. $3 waffles like nothing beats this place. The last time I came with my friends after a long night out there were people filming a rap video, and that is exactly what you would see at a Waffle House, it is more like a waffle home.

If I could I will give -5 food is ok but the people in this shift was horrible an older lady that looked like she was the manager was super nasty I as for ketchup and she screamed to the other lady that they have none I keep telling them little ice on the soda and they put tons and before I left I ask for napkins and she told me they are in the bag now get out of here I thought that was is it I have a big truck and trailer and it was no parking and I park just to eat next to the garbage can and they come out to scream at us and said bad things to us and telling us they were goin to call the police actually there was 4 employees and they were all outside I wonder who was helping the other costumers So I hope you never get treated like that they are nasty inside and out Also it was around 5:30

I know Waffle House is a chain, but there was nothing my table and I noticed that warrants anything less than a 4-star rating for this branch. Three of us were close to making a last-second ditch to Cracker Barrel a few yards away, but we gave this place a chance since we just wanted something quick to eat after a long trip. FOOD: Cheesesteak Melt Hash Brown Bowl: Good and filling! On top of a large mound of cheesy hash browns is a generous serving of grilled chopped steak and onions. No salt was needed, but I added some Tabasco for a spicy kick. Texas Angus Patty Melt: A bit on the small side, but pretty good! It's flavorful, the patty was tasty albeit a bit too "done" for our preference, the bacon was crispy, and the hash browns were just as good as my order. Texas Cheesesteak Melt: The comments are similar to the patty melt, but the obvious difference is the chopped steak--which was plentiful and tender. It also came with crispy bacon. For the price and quality, this does the job! The drinks were good too, particularly the Lemonade and the Iced Tea-Monade. SERVICE: Maybe I went on a good day, but the service was great. We were warmly welcomed when we walked in. The lady who cooked our table's entire order was really friendly, as was the waitress for our table. Our food was served hot and fresh from the griddle next to us within 20 minutes. Yes, there are at least a dozen other options in Dumfries, but this place is a solid and reliable option for a simple but good and reasonably priced meal.

Let me start first by saying I Love Waffle House! But this one is different. I mean you expect the vintage greasy look. However as I entered this one the outside was trashy in the parking lot, I was greeted by a cashier that had a cigarette behind her ear with her hood on barely wanted to open her mouth to take my order.... I was wondering if Anyone was going to wash their hands at any point from the time I was there. Not even.... could go on.... The staff period had no sense of restaurant etiquette or the hospitality industry. Not a good look for The Waffle House franchise.

Went to Waffle House this morning and the waitress was all over the place. Just clueless. The restaurant was not busy at 6:55 AM. Standing at the register for almost 10 minutes. Little old lady waitress looks at me and state, "I will be with you in a minute." A minute goes by then the young waitress passes by me two times. I'm dumbfounded at this point. The man at the counter receives his food, but send his plate back because his order was wrong. Finally the young waitress takes my order. She does not hand my flip to the cook, but places it on the counter. The man at the counter receives his order then ask for silverware, which took the young waitress at least 3 minutes to get. Did I not mention the restaurant was not busy or crowded. I go to Waffle House typically on Saturdays, but I took the day off from work and did not feel like cooking breakfast. I will stick with going on Saturdays. The line staff and waitress on Saturdays are the best
