Food Brands Are Extremely Thirsty on Valentine’s Day | Eater

"All locations are staging a special Valentine's Day dinner service with dimmed lights, candles, flowers, and tablecloths to create a more romantic atmosphere; reservations are advised, the promotion has run seasonally since 2008, and the chain's leadership describes the holiday dinner as a 'bucket-list experience' that celebrates its signature items like 'scattered, smothered, and covered' offerings." - Chris Fuhrmeister

I have came here a few times and it has always been a pleasant experience but my dinning experience tonight (7/2 about 12:30 in the am) was above and beyond. I usually don’t leave reviews but the food was cooked so perfect I had to. I always order my bacon medium and everyone either under cooks the bacon, but tonight they made it so perfect I ordered a second round ! The servers greatest is when we came in the door and were so nice. They checked in constantly and made sure we were good all through our dining experience. 11/10 !

Delicious waffles and eggs! Grits were tasty, and nice crispy bacon. Ducky was an excellent waitress, very chatty and helpful for making decisions. Great all-round experience!

The presentation of food was great, until the jukebox came on and started playing music so loud that I couldn’t hear my wife talk to me across the table, so we paid really fast and got the hell out of there.

Well now, let me tell you, this Waffle House in Murfreesboro, TN, is the finest I’ve ever laid my taste buds upon. It’s open 24 hours a day, which means no matter if you’re awake at the crack of dawn or up in the middle of the night, starved from a long journey or just in need of a good meal, this place will be there, ready to serve. And when you step inside, it’s more than just a meal—it’s a chance to share a moment with people on their own journeys, each with their own story, each sitting at their own booth, their own corner, reflecting on the road they’ve traveled. Some of them are quiet, lost in thought, while others laugh and chat like old friends. You can tell they’ve each got something to say, something to remember, or maybe something they just need to forget for a little while. And the employees? Well, they’re a special bunch. Every one of them, with their warm smiles and steady hands, seem to have their own quiet mission. It’s not about just serving food; it’s about making you feel seen, heard, and cared for in a world that’s moving too fast. They’ve got a way of making the simplest meal feel like a gift, and no matter how busy the place gets, you can always count on them to serve you with patience and kindness, like they’ve been doing this their whole lives. They don’t rush, they don’t fuss—they just serve with pride, knowing that in this little spot, they’re making a difference. Now, the food. Oh, the food. Those waffles—golden and crisp, with just the right sweetness—are as good as anything you’ll find anywhere. Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and coffee that’s strong enough to kick-start your soul. And don’t forget the chili, rich and hearty, or the BLT sandwiches, simple yet comforting, just like a good home-cooked meal. But it’s not just the food that makes this place great. It’s the people. Every customer, every server, every cook—they’re all part of something bigger. This Waffle House in Murfreesboro isn’t just about filling your stomach; it’s about sharing a moment in time, about slowing down and appreciating the simple things, and about knowing that no matter what hour of the day it is, this place will be there, offering comfort and warmth to anyone who needs it. So, if you find yourself in Murfreesboro, TN, don’t go looking for some fancy restaurant. Head straight to this Waffle House. It’s the best I’ve ever had, and I reckon it’s because it’s more than just food—it’s a part of the story we’re all telling, one meal at a time.

I used to love Waffle House, but lately, the flavor just isn’t what it used to be. Their waffles are still consistently good, though. However, with their recent price increases, it just doesn’t feel like the value is there anymore.

My first waffle house I've ever been to since I moved to the South. Staff are friendly, and I became almost a regular. You get what you pay for: Cheap food and fast service. The location by the highway is very convenient for road trips!

It's waffle house. You know exactly what you are getting when you go here. The prices have gone up, which is a shame, but the food has remained the ever reliable greasy diner fare we all know and love at 3 am.

Love Waffle House! We always stop at a Waffle House on vacation. Had the (new to me) Egg, Sausage and Cheese Grits Bowl. Was very good.

Yelp
Huddy was a great server. The food was hot and fresh. I like the chicken melt w/o bacon. I love to play the juke box.

Yelp
Margaret was genuinely warm, kind, and patient with the first timers in our party. She's organically funny too (or perhaps that's a TN thing). Very accommodating, knowledgeable, and helpful especially with regards to recommendations regarding our waffles. Half blue berries and pecan was spot on, and the chocolate chip was tastey. Everything you could possibly think of or even didn't, Marge offered and that generous hospitality definitely made an impression. If there was a class or standard for waitressing in Murfreesboro she is your model/lead with regards to detail and interfacing with the public. So many waiters/waitresses at other eateries in town and the surrounding area should take note and pages from her book. It makes sense as she's a seasoned woman in life and work, something akin to inspirational... respect the greys I always say. Observing the entire team was interesting. They're professional, yet casual, welcoming, and attentive. It made us want to, and we did, tip generously as a result. Place was packed and busy. We waited at least 30-40 minutes for seating. We were unsure what the procedures were regarding seating. Fortunately the people for the most part are nice enough to maneuver seating amongst patrons and staff. Tables were promptly cleaned. Almost all the staff had hustle (minus the one plus size twenties or thirties woman whom we hardly saw hence no name to reference). All the waitresses had smiles and pleasant resting faces, except for one- Ducky. Perhaps she was hurting, or is the lead of sorts as she had the demanding tasks of keeping things flowing, and communicating to the staff corrections of procedures, perhaps. It made me feel for the staff, being on your feet bustling about it, on display for observation is hard work. At the opportunity at humor she will and cam smile though. And I wonder why do they call her that? A middle age slender gal was always smiles whilst observant; you just felt good being there in all the bustling. It's impressive how they run the entire place with one cook and no tickets in front of him. Orders are audibly relayed and he goes to work. This can cause for some hiccups on succinct delivery per table and possibly for my egg shells in my eggs! I opted to pass on mentioning it and spit those out (about 4x). Hash was warm and crispy, biscuit was soft and pleasantly moist (I was concerned they'd be dry? Why for I don't know). I expected more hash brown quantity however we left very full, content, and having enjoyed our experience. Would definitely patron this establishment frequently however the food is comforting and rich and we're not built for it. Definitely will return though- soon! The nostalgic stories of road tripping and dining at this chain is a fond tradition. Whoops no food porn this time... too hungry and too yummy to wait?! ‍

Yelp
Good as any other waffle house I have been to, friendly staff and always filled with customers. For the first time I ordered a veggie omlette and it was better than I thought. I had them put onion, jalapenos, tomatos, and mushrooms. I still made sure to get the Peanut Butter Waffle which is my favorite. If you are in the area, make sure to come here, the staff will make it worth it.

Yelp
Good and greasy breakfast!! Best hash browns around. Service is decent. If I want a good breakfast I know Waffle House always delivers.

Yelp
Thankfully the same as usual...fast, friendly service with consistently good food. I had eggs & grits for a change and was totally satisfied.

Yelp
This was our first time in a Waffle House. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Our waitress Nikki was absolutely awesome. Every employee working was non-stop working -- even when they had some down time, they were all cleaning, organizing or checking on tables. The food was really good and super fresh. Thanks for a great first experience!

Yelp
My husband & I came at noon on a Wednesday & were attended immediately. Our waitress, Miyah was super nice & checked on us frequently! The food was served correctly as requested & hot. That wombman deserves a raise!!!

Yelp
My husband loves Waffle House and we have been to a lot of them but this one is the best! Super friendly service from Hannah, lots of hard working employees, we got our food right away and it is hot and tasty. Bathrooms clean, clean booths, I am very impressed. This stop was perfect for our road trip! Thank you to everyone at this location!

Yelp
For Christmas this year we were doing something with another family that required a place to meet. Waffle House was one of the only places open. It kinda sucks for the employees (and I showed my appreciation via tip,) but it was great for us. Service was very good with Marge. She was attentive and built rapport with us. All our meals were accurate. I don't remember ever eating here before but today my good was pretty good. (I wish they had cheddar instead of American cheese.) Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. Very reasonably priced too. As for Covid, the employees wore masks. A couple cooks wore gloves but not everyone. Social distancing isn't a thing here as the to go line in the only hallway was pretty full the whole time. One non-Covid thi might my son saw was a worker going yo the restroom who didn't wash his hands. He went directly to a back room. Hopefully he washes before he serves or cooks. Minus the one bad thing, this was a great visit. I really appreciate them being open and the good service.

Yelp
I'll never understand why the cook doesn't just get a copy of the ticket. There wouldn't be confusion and asking literally, and I mean literally asking for an order clarified 8 times. And that's with only a few customers in. God forbid there be a busy night.

Yelp
We had a great dinner tonight! The table needed to be wiped off but we were quickly greeted and drinks came out quickly. They weren't very busy so we got our food in about five minutes after ordering. It was fresh and yummy! The only reason i didn't give five stars was because the drinks didn't get refilled until the end of the meal and the tables were dirty and hadn't been cleaned off.

Yelp
The service was fair considering it was a busy place for after a 3 day Holiday weekend. Staff was in need of help for better service. The food was filling and cooked decent. The parking lot had a lot of trash. The real negative has the filth of the restaurant inside. Floors needed to be moped, swept etc. tables needed more than a washcloth wipe down. (Sticky and dirty.) The staff was short handed, and it explained why there was a Help Wanted wanted sign out front

Yelp
Great service, FAST hot food, happy smiling friendly warm staff!! Honestly the best restaurant experience I've had in at least 2 years. These guys are amazing! Shout out to Elijah, our server. Just a great bunch of folks!

Yelp
A roach was walking out as I walked in no joke. Turnt around before touching the second door felt disgusting inside

Yelp
I recently moved to Murfreesboro from Las Vegas back in July. We don't have Waffle Houses out there so I was intrigued by seeing so many around here but for some reason never stopped in. I just flew in from a trip to collect my remaining things and decided it was high time I try it out. I am so glad that I waited for this Waffle House on this particular day. The three women behind the counter today were absolutely everything I was hoping for out of my first WH experience. Conni and Marge have a witty banter that keeps things entertaining while constantly working in tandem to make sure the patrons were served or dishes were bussed and cleaned. I don't think it's an overstatement to say it was akin to watching a diner ballet. Barbara, working the grill, was fantastic. I had the All American with scrambled eggs with cheese, grits, toast, country ham, and a pecan waffle. Every single item was cooked to perfection and all came out at the same time. Usually you can expect to get food cheap, fast, or delicious. Sometimes you can get a combination of two, but very rarely can you get all three. At this particular Waffle House I definitely got all three, plus the icing of the wonderful women serving today. I don't know that I'll ever try another location because I don't think it would live up to this one. This one on Old Fort is a sure thing, as evidenced by the fact there were many patrons they knew by name. They'll hopefully get to learn mine because I would absolutely eat that meal every day of the week as long as Barbara is cooking it.

Yelp
I do not recommend the location on Old Fort Parkway especially during second shift. We have given this place multiple chances and each time the experience has been less than pleasant. This evening my family of three attempted to dine in at 7:50 PM. Upon entering the establishment we observed two servers standing near the cooks which did not acknowledge either my family or the other family that entered the establishment. We observed 5 booths empty but full of dirty cups and dishes. Not one staff member attempted to clear any booths for either family. After 9 minutes of zero acknowledgment by either server, the cook turned to us and stated "they were going to break down the grills and it would be about 10 minutes". Still zero acknowledgment from either server. Myself and now 3 other families left the establishment and will not return. I strongly recommend that you take your service to another Waffle House in town and avoid this one at all cost if you want a pleasant experience.

Yelp
Just moved to TN and stumbled upon this place. Classic diner, casual.... was greeted when i walk in. Ordered the Sausage eggs cheese n grits bowl, very good. Staff was really nice and friendly, down to earth people which was nice being new in town. Cant wait to bring my family back, they will enjoy it too, i'm sure. Thanks

Yelp
Entered without acknowledgement. Stayed for 15 minutes without acknowledgement. Left without acknowledgement. There were 5 people working there and they were not busy.

Yelp
First Waffle House visit in a long time. Last time was a terrible visit to the one on Armory Drive. This time was much better, both food and service. The cook made my omelet in an omelet pan as it should be, the other place spread the eggs out on the grill and overcooked it. This was good at the Old Fort location. I would have preferred more ham in it, but it was good.

Yelp
Went here for a free birthday waffle and saw some very unsanitary health practices. While waiting, the cook picked up raw bacon and put it on griddle and then pushed a bunch of crumbs into his hand after cutting some bread and then proceeded on cooking more food without changing his gloves. Cross contamination everywhere. Another time went in for another free waffles and after waiting 20 minutes, the waffle was not cooked through, health department should make a surprise visit.

Yelp
Was here in mid-September, they were working with a skeleton crew as many of the regular help was down in Fla. helping put other restaurants on their feet. You would never know it was a pick up crew. Food was great, service was very good, place was packed but we were in and out in a jiffy. One of the waitresses, Denise was exceptionally good. If I lived there I would eat there 3 days a week. Try the egg bowls....

Yelp
Employees are nice food is wonderful. 10/10 recommend sitting in duckies section if you visit she stays on top of everything and is very pleasant to chat with.

Yelp
I went in there on 11/8/14 to eat and couldn't hear myself think because the juke box was so loud. It was blaring loud. Spoke To Manager and left. I don't mind music playing but this was totally unacceptable. Thought maybe I was in a nightclub somewhere.

Yelp
Not all waffle houses are created equal!!! This places is clean, great service, and these ladies ALL can cook!!!

Yelp
For a Waffle House, I was impressed with the service and food for a late Friday night. There were no booths so my boyfriend and I had to sit at the counter. Thankfully this location doesn't have the register DIRECTLY next to a seat, so there was a little more breathing room. Service was pleasant and attentive. Food was better than expected, perfectly crispy hashbrowns and a pretty tasty chicken sandwich. Of the four locations in Murfreesboro, this one is a top choice in my opinion.
