Yelp
Concept: You would think the name would say it all, but consider these waffles kicked up a notch or three.
Food: I'm in love. I mean, pure waffle love. And I'm not even a waffle enthusiast. The go-to waffle is a pearl sugar waffle, meaning that "pearls" of sugar are mixed within the waffle batter. For those staunch traditionalists like myself, a buttermilk base is also on the menu, plus a Southern waffle option.
The combinations on top of these waffles are what pushed this place over the top for me. My wife had a lemon curd and blueberry compote(ish) combination. I would have risked it all to steal a significant portion after I was allowed a single bite. (Like what the heck, lady?)
However, I had my hands full with the savory Fried Chicken and Egg Bowl. Truth in advertising: this is not, in fact, a bowl. It was an epic adventure, however. The buttermilk fried chicken was amazing. Like work of art amazing.
Important note: the gravy with my meal was a cream gravy, sans pork. They serve a sausage gravy as well, but non-pork country gravy is rare to find around these parts. I wallow in pork, but my wife does not. This is a great find for her.
Service: Given that the place was packed two days before Christmas, the fact that the service was good at all could be considered a minor miracle. But amidst the throngs of people inside, they did very well. Friendly, as attentive as they could be given the huge rush, and on top of things overall. Our server earned her tip. Yes, she did.
Even more amazing: our food came quickly, even amid the mass of diners. I was shocked.
Atmosphere: Pleasant, fun yellow, and packed. They probably fit a few too many tables in the space, but they were on top of clearing our plates so that "we wouldn't accidentally get our hands messy" with goopy used plates on a small table. Did I mention our server earned her tip?
Price: Given how expensive dining out can be in 2023, I found the prices to be remarkably reasonable. Caveat: I'm talking Western Washington reasonable, not rest-of-the-country reasonable. I think the food + service was well worth the price, all things considered.
The takeaway: Just do it. And be ready to defend your lemon curd and blueberry compote(ish) waffle with your life. Don't say I didn't warn you.
