"All manner of waffley goodness has hit Tacoma with a new restaurant called Waffle Stop. Open for breakfast and lunch daily, the Proctor District restaurant includes sweet and savory options like the bacon cookie butter waffle, Nashville hot chicken, and strawberry cheesecake. Simpler kids’ options are available, plus shakes, mimosas, waffle sandwiches, and a couple of salads for those poor souls not waffle-inclined." - Megan Hill

I’d actually been wanting to try this place for a long time but always seemed to forget about it when deciding where to eat. We finally made it as part of my brother’s birthday celebration—and it was worth the wait. There were five of us in our group, and we waited just over 30 minutes to be seated. Honestly, every time I’ve walked or driven by, there’s usually a line outside, so the wait wasn’t surprising. A few of us tried a cookie butter coffee drink that wasn’t listed on the online menu. It was small, $6.50 a cup, but so good I probably could’ve had four. Pricey, yes—but highly recommended. I ordered the Split Decision Sampler and thought it was really good overall. I do need to brush up on the different types of waffles, though—I expected at least one of them to be soft, but they were all crisp. I ended up liking my wife’s Bacon Cookie Butter waffle even more. The only downside was that it came with just one waffle. That was fine for her, but if I had ordered it, it definitely wouldn’t have been enough food for me. My son had waffle fries with his chicken, but none of us were impressed with them—they didn’t have much flavor. That said, the service was great. Multiple staff members checked in on us, and we felt well taken care of. All five of us enjoyed most of the food, and we’ll definitely be back. I give them a 4.5 out of 5.

We visited Waffle Stop on a Sunday morning around 9 AM and were happy to be seated immediately—no wait, which was a great start. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a charming interior perfect for a laid-back breakfast. We started with fresh-squeezed orange juice ($4 for a small, no refills), which was vibrant and tasty, though a bit pricey for the size. For our meal, my husband had the pearl sugar waffle, beautifully presented on a bright yellow plate and dusted with powdered sugar. It was crisp, sweet, and satisfying. I ordered the mini mess waffle, which came loaded with savory sausage gravy, crisp bacon, and a sprig of rosemary. Underneath all that rich gravy, there were perfectly cooked eggs and a layer of crispy hash browns, adding a hearty and satisfying base to the dish. The service was excellent—our server was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without rushing us. The only drawback was the state of the bathrooms. While the dining area was clean and well-decorated, the bathrooms were noticeably grimy and in need of a deep clean. The dirt and buildup distracted from an otherwise great experience. Overall, Waffle Stop is a fantastic spot for a casual breakfast with delicious food and great service. If they can give the bathrooms a little more attention, it would be a top-notch spot. Definitely recommend for a laid-back weekend brunch!

Our part of three stopped in on a Thursday morning about 10. No wait to be seated. Coffee served immediately and man, it was good! I ordered the special- a buckwheat Miso banana waffle. Nowhere did I see that it was Gluten Free, but I later learned it was. I thought $18 for one waffle with banana and miso butter was a bit expensive, but I figured it must be good. Husband ordered the chocolate chip waffle with eggs and bacon. Daughter ordered the Lemon Blueberry. Food took probably 25 minutes to arrive- not terrible, not great. My banana miso waffle- one waffle, old looking banana- not at all visually appealing. The miso butter was hard and crumbly, and had no taste other than slightly bitter. It was not great. The waffle was somewhat crisp, but it had minimal taste, and actually was not great. I later found out (on the bill) that it was gluten free, which I didn’t want or need. I sampled my husband’s chocolate chip waffle and it was good. It had a great flavor and texture. My daughter’s blueberry lemon waffle was literally the star of the show. It was super delicious- and I so wished I had gotten it instead of the meh I got. Service was great- different servers filled my coffee multiple times- and all of our needs were met. For the amount and kind of food we got, I think the price was very high- we will try other places before we come back here.

Summary - One of the best meals and service I've had in a long while. The food was excellent, it came out fast, everything was correct, our server was fantastic, and overall everything was awesome. I can't think of a single thing to criticize that they could improve in any way which is rare. Longer version - We were a large group of 7 who had to change plans last minute so we didn't have a reservation. They got us seated within 20 minutes even though it was a busy morning. The host was friendly and let us know we could walk around the neighborhood while we waited if we wanted to and they would text us when the table was ready. Once we were seated we were greeted nearly immediately by the wonderful server. (so sad I didn't get his name, but he was tall and had light brownish blonde hair.) He was friendly, able to offer recommendations, and handled our large group with ease. Despite being a larger group our good came out exceptionally quickly, everything was hot and fresh, and everyone's order was perfect. We were offered refills as needed but never in a pushy manner, and we're checked on regularly but not too often. I included a few pictures of a few of the entrees we got - everyone's food was delish and not a single person left a morsel remaining on their plate. The waffles were fluffy, the chicken was crispy but still juicy, their sausage was seasoned nicely, the hashbrowns werent greasy and had a nice crunch on the exterior, and everyone's eggs were prepared as they ordered (not over or under cooked despite there being 4 or 5 varieties between all of us.) Overall - The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, clean, and in a good location with lots of parking. The food is simple and high quality. Every staff member we interacted with from beginning to end was friendly. Great job Waffle Stop. We will be back.

We had a large group for Easter breakfast and had a bit of a wait, but the food was worth the wait! It was so good my family cleaned their plates. I had the mini mess haul with a southern cornbread waffle with gravy and bacon- it was delicious! I’ll definitely be back to try their cookie butter waffle.

A popular breakfast/brunch spot in town! The staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered both classic waffle and pearl sugar waffle, they were both delicious!

Last week PT was late in the day and did not coincide with any meals. As a result, I had nothing to report. Yesterday, Ray had a doctor appointment in Tacoma. Afterwards we headed to the north end of Tacoma, which is an area where I spent a great deal of time growing up, and is now referred to as the “Proctor district”. I reminisces as we drove down beautiful tree lined Union street, past the University of Puget Sound, to North 26th St. From there it was a few blocks west to Proctor street and the Waffle Stop. The library where I spent my summer months is now an administration building for the newer library next to it. Henry’s Bakery, the 5 and Dime, Soine’s Shoes, and the bike shop are all long gone. The buildings are still standing and are home to new businesses. We were warmly greeted as soon as we entered and seated immediately. Menus and specials were presented to us. There were many interesting and mouth watering choices. Kevin, our waiter, brought us water and black coffee for Ray. I chose the Kentucky cream coffee which came with whipping cream on top. It was very good. I switched to regular coffee once I had finished my drink. Kevin made a few recommendations as we were first time diners. He had a lot of personality, and genuinely seemed to care about us as diners. He has had other great reviews written about him. The other waiter also had a lot of personality. He was busy taking care of his tables so we only interacted when he brought me half and half for my coffee. Ray’s decision was sealed when he saw the Split Decision Sampler with 2 different waffles being served at the next table. He ordered his with scrambled eggs and sausage. I was torn between chicken and waffles or the Bacon Overload waffle, which was also stuffed with bacon, and came with eggs. I chose the Bacon Overload. Breakfast was delivered quickly and did not disappoint. The waffles are made to order and come with a large container of cinnamon whipped butter and individual pitchers of syrup. A separate bottle of syrup is also brought to the table, just in case you need more. I don’t normally take pictures of the restroom, but you also don’t find it decked out this way either. I found the floor tiles intriguing, as well as the bathroom chandelier which appeared to be created from stand mixer wire whips. The restaurant isn’t huge, but it is bright, and clean with comfortable chairs. The decor includes interesting quotes, including one possibly from Shakespeare, regarding the importance of waffles. This is a place well worthy of a return visit. So many intriguing choices will make it a tough decision regarding what to have next time.

Google
This place is overhyped. The waffles are not good. I ordered the pearl sugar waffle and it was very dry even after a lot of syrup. I did like how they warm up the syrup before giving it to you. The habanero sauce and chicken apple sausage were amazing! So was the cookie butter chai latte! Don’t get the mimosa flight. It’s overpriced and insanely sweet. The girl at the counter was very friendly. She got us on the waitlist and we didn’t have to wait too long for a table. I did let them know it was a table for 4 people AND a baby. My baby is 8 weeks old so she can’t sit in a high chair. The car seat does not fit on the high chair so we had to take turns holding our baby since they gave us a booth and wouldn’t let us keep our stroller. I wished they had gave us a table with booth and chair so we didn’t have to hold our baby the whole time. The food and drinks too awhile to arrive to our table. It seemed the waitress was overwhelmed so she rarely came to our table. Took us some time to put in our order because she was going to other tables. The staff also seemed confused with orders and drinks. They didn’t know whose order was whose which is a bit disappointing.

Yelp
Do yall ever just crave a crispy, fluffy waffle randomly at 2am? With warm syrup and a scoop of whipped butter? Because same. At this point I just contemplate staying up until Waffle Stop opens. It just hits different! My go-to order is the Belgium waffle with a side of bacon. Can't go wrong and it just tickles with right cravings. My bf love the mess hall- it's giving biscuits and gravy, but with waffles. Definitely try it if you're coming with an appetite. Waffle hack: you can join the waitlist online. We join the waitlist when we wake up or drive out from federal way (~15 mins) and by the time we get there + find parking, our table is ready to go. It's usually packed, so order everything all at once because it can be hard to track down the servers.

Emily C.

Yelp
Food was delicious however I am only giving it 4 stars due to the fact that three of us ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffle and not a single one was spicy. They also stated that unless we wanted to wait 25 minutes 2 out of 3 of us would need to get the regular waffle (which tastes perfectly fine so it didn't impact my score). Either way, make reservations ahead of time if coming for brunch as it gets pretty busy.

Yelp
We love this place. Everything we have ordered has always been great, the staff are usually friendly, and overall the atmosphere is what you would expect from a breakfast place. We really enjoy the varieties of waffles and accompaniments. Their coffee is good, and they offer some great espresso options. As some other reviewers mention, there is often a long wait, but it's worth it!

Yelp
First time here and we loved it great atmosphere good service and the food was very tasty as well We will be back

Yelp
Great food and environment! Prices were good but I was a bit disappointed in the up charge for egg whites for $3 or $4 (forgot which) additional. Honestly at the store egg whites are cheaper than regular eggs ... so doesn't make sense. Eating healthy seems to be expensive; also an up charge for chicken apple sausage. Definitely will go back since the food was great.

Hucky K.

Yelp
Pros: nice selection of sweet and savory food for breakfast, brunch, and lunch, good waffle and I love the maple glazed bacon, the restaurant is located in a cute neighborhood Cons: very sugary, not the most healthy food you can choose to fuel your body. Waiting staff is inconsistent. Some are helpful and nice, but a some are the opposite.

Yelp
Fun little place right in the heart of the Procter district. We went during the week about 10:30 so were seated immediately although there were a good number of people eating. Our server was there promptly to take our drink order as well as our food order. Think she was the only one there but she was pretty efficient. Both of us got the wake and waffle which came with our choice of waffle, we got the buttermilk, hash browns, 2 eggs any style and hash browns. I didn't need the hash browns and they were a bit over cooked, but the eggs were well cooked, the bacon crispy and the waffle very tasty. The food came out quickly and no one minded that we sat and visited after paying our bill. Certainly worth the trip, especially given the prices are very affordable.

Yelp
Lazy rainy Saturday morning, decided to check out somewhere new. Stopped by the Waffle Stop and did not expect the amazing service and food I received. It Friendly staff full of smiles and willing to actually work unlike many other establishments. Food was delicious and with every food I saw the staff delivering made my mouth water. Regretfully, I didn't order waffles (I do enjoy some good ole waffles) and ordered the Bacon Avocado Scramble. Was not disappointed and left wanting more. Maybe I should have ordered a side waffle!

Yelp
While visiting Tacoma, we decided to give the Waffle Stop a try and glad we did. My wife and I ordered the Mess Haul and Luscious Lemon Blueberry. The Mess Haul is definitely a shareable plate and was my favorite out of the two plates we ordered. This plate was like biscuits and gravy minus the biscuits because they use waffles. The gravy was tasty and had a great amount of bacon. The Luscious Lemon Blueberry was very sweet and the berries were delicious. The pearl waffle was a little dense, but not bad. The waitress was very kind and attentive. This restaurant had a fun vibe and would definitely recommend you try it.

Yelp
I went with a friend and her son and it was a very busy spot especially on a Saturday with the farmers market going on nearby! One thing that I would say was a negative was that we were told 15-30 mins but we waited about 50 minutes and that there were 3 parties in front of us even though on my friends phone it said there were "0 minutes" left. The host mentioned the system isn't the best. It was fine as we killed time looking at the stores around. We got the text that it's "waffle time" which was pretty funny. Our server was attentive and the food came out pretty quickly. It was worth the wait! I got the Wake n waffle with the pearl sugar waffle and the menu was right I didn't need syrup for it because the sweetness was perfect, however I am more a savory person. I would definitely come again!

Yelp
Waffle Stop is THE PLACE for all things breakfast. These cooks really excel in excellence - unwavering quality time and time again. It's always exceptional when quality remains consistent no matter how many times you go. As the name suggests... waffles... you really should order their waffles. I'm not a waffle person, but my goodness I love them here. So soft and favorable! They really have mastered the perfect batter! My usual order is the wake n waffle combo with the bacon cookie butter waffle paired with a brown sugar cardamom latte. I know this may sound overly sweet (most places add way too much sugar) but this order is well balanced -- not too sweet. That is really key to enjoying every bite. Their bacon never has fat and cooked to perfection... their sausage is delicious as well... they give you warmed maple syrup... fresh squeezed orange juice is always a special treat too... Fact is they really pay attention to the little details that really elevate the breakfast experience. From their inviting cozy dining with beautiful interior designed branding, to great customer service, best chefs and a very affordable price point.... What more could you ask for?!

Yelp
A cute little breakfast spot in the north end of Tacoma. This was my sister and I's first time here, but my friend, who was with us had been here before! There isn't a designated parking lot for the Waffle Stop, but street parking is easy to find in the area. We came in on a Sunday morning, it was a bit busy inside. The wait time for our group of three was about 15-20 minutes. We were able to walk around the area and walked back when we received the text message when our table was ready. I ordered the South of the Border Breakfast (three scrambled eggs, pulled pork carnitas, fiesta hash browns, red bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes, topped with cilantro and radishes). My sister ordered the Luscious Lemon Blueberry Waffle (Pearl Sugar Waffle, glazed wild blueberries, whipped cream and tart lemon curd drizzle) and Blueberry Honey Lemonade. We ordered the Chicken Waffle Fries (crispy waffle fries covered in melted Tillamook™ cheddar cheese, chopped thick applewood bacon, buttermilk fried chicken, served with their house-made ranch for dipping) to share with the group. We were SHOCKED to see how big the Chicken Waffle Fries plate was when it came out. It was more than enough to share with our group, probably better for groups that are 4-6 people if you are also getting your own entree to eat. The South of the Border Breakfast was okay, not my favorite. It felt like it was lacking in flavor. It was quite bland. The Luscious Lemon Blueberry Waffle was good! They piled on a lot of toppings on the waffle, so you couldn't really see how big the actual waffle was itself. Honestly, I think the waffle should be bigger. The Blueberry Honey Lemonade was a nice, tart drink! It was refreshing and pleasant.

Angelina H.

Yelp
The food is great, however the food expeditor is too focused on packing the to go orders! So if you are dining in, your food is just sitting under the burner lamps because she just cares about the to go orders. They schedule staff to come in later so they should probably rethink that.

Jerome T.

Yelp
Stopped in with a friend! I had the chicken & waffle sandwich and he got 2 classic egg plates (he was staving.. lol) the food came out too us hot and fresh and tasted soo good ! The customer service was awesome and our server Cherise did an excellent job serving us! I love the cute style in the restaurant and it's very clean! I will definitely be coming back!

Mary S.

Yelp
Um, holy yum Batman! I was so excited to try the food that was presented to me that I forgot to take a picture! Haha! I had the Luscious Lemon Blueberry Waffle, Pumpkin-spiced Latte, and a side of bacon. So so good! Not to mention, my server was on point... I never had to wait one single time. My food came out in about 3 minutes, which was amazing! I sat at the bar near the kitchen and it was really cool because not only was the food out of this world, but it was very clear that everyone who works here really loves being here. The kitchen was alive with smiles and encouraging words, the wait staff was supporting each other and all around lots of laughter and happiness. It made my dining experience that much better! Next time I'm in Tacoma, I'm definitely coming back! Nice job, Waffle Stop!

Yelp
Been craving for waffles this past weekend so decided to try this place out. One thing I noticed is that this place gets very busy, so do yourself a favor and place yourself on the waitlist via Google before heading there. By the time we made it to the restaurant, we only had to wait 15 minutes. Once we were seated, we sorta knew what to order after reading some reviews on Yelp. I wanted to try the blueberry honey lemonade so I ordered that. I thought the drink was okay. Couldn't taste any blueberries unfortunately. For the entrees, I decided to get the Nashville hot chicken and waffles while my partner got the wake n waffle with a waffle upgraded to strawberry cheesecake. Both orders were good but the fried chicken was my favorite. They give you two slabs of fried chicken breast coated with spicy breading. Topped that with hot honey syrup. The chicken was very moist and goes so well with the waffle. One thing I wish I got more were the waffles. It sadly only came with one small waffle. The ratio of chicken to waffle does not add up... I tried the strawberry cheesecake waffles and it was so rich and delicious. That one was great for desserts! Overall, the vibe was very bright and lively filled with some cute waffle decors. I will definitely come back again whenever I'm around the area.

Jerad J.

Yelp
Bright and cheery with a cafe style vibe. Nice French press coffee for two. Good service and great waffles. Get the waffles or don't complain to me. I am not too proud to say I ordered a scramble with a side of waffles with cinnamon butter. The waffle stole the show. Wife ordered the Bacon Cookie Butter, and shared some to me .

Gaby S.

Yelp
We stopped by on a Saturday and it was pretty busy but we were able to get sat right away which was nice. The decorations and ambiance were cute and waffle themed, but a lot of the seating there was half chair half booths which I don't prefer. We ordered the French press to start, which I had never had but was pretty good, but I would recommend asking for extra cream or for some flavored syrup just because it was a little bland. I ordered the Bacon Overboard and my boyfriend ordered the Wake N Waffle with a buttermilk waffle. I was worried that the bacon and waffle combo wouldn't be great together but with the bacon syrup it was amazing. I love bacon so it was one of the best waffles I've ever had. The only reason I took off a star was because the service was a little strange, and there was only one men's and one women's room and there was someone in the women's room the whole time I was dining so it was really inconvenient. Despite that, we are really looking forward to going back to try some of the other menu items.

Sonia S.

Yelp
Decided to come here recently as we happened to be in the neighborhood. We check in online and stopped in just to verify that we were on the list. We were assured that there was about a 25 minute wait although the text we received estimated about 40 minutes. It was a nice day so we walked around and checked out some of the shops in the area. Our wait was more than the estimated 20, and 40 minutes but we were finally seated at the counter. We started with Elderflower Mimosas, which were just okay. I decided on the Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffle, and my friend opted for the Fried Chicken and Egg Bowl. It didn't take too long for the food to come out. It was hot and fresh. The chicken was nicely breaded and crisp, but being Nashville Hot Chicken it didn't have flavor or heat that I would expect for it to have. It was actually pretty bland. Even the "habanero hot sauce" that came with it was not packing a punch of heat, or habanero flavor. The ranch was good, but not great. The waffle was good. I think if I were to order Chicken and Waffles again, I would go with the Original. My friend enjoyed her choice, to me the gravy consistency looked a little off--like grainy. I am sure it was sitting in a warmer for quite some time which could have contributed to the offish appearance. They do offer a Military/Police discount (on food only) and have a loyalty program as well. We would return to try more of the menu.

Babette C.

Yelp
Cool breakfast place in Tacoma. Parking was a little tough because there are tons of cool businesses around this area and it was the same day as the Farmer's Market. Still, we only had to wait 10 minutes for our table. Sis got steak and eggs and it was fine. I got a caramelly waffle and it was pretty good. The restaurant is clean and they turn tables over at a good pace. The food was good but not memorable.

ParisAnne D.

Yelp
My 22 yo and I fell in love hard with this place. If we lived locally it would be a regular spot for us. We showed up around 11 on a busy Saturday morning. Thankfully with it just being the two of us we were seated at the counter immediately. The wait time didn't seem to be long for others. Order fresh squeezed orange juice (so good!), freshly brewed ice tea and two different waffles, both excellent. It's such a comfortable, positive environment with friendly staff.

Ina F.

Yelp
Just by seeing the sign it looks inviting. We were greeted warmly. It's definitely a nice spot for families with the little ones, and for a friendly hangout. It didn't take long to have our food ready and it was so delicious. We love their take on biscuit and gravy. It hit the spot! 10/10 recommend.

Lorie H.

Yelp
Our 1st visit to Waffle Stop. We ordered the Ranchero steak & eggs & the Wee Waffle which comes with 1 egg, and choice of meat. I chose chicken apple sausage patty. Both orders we asked for basted eggs. Not sure if they know how to baste eggs, because the bottom side was really really fried and my sausage patty looked like someone took a bite out of it. I mentioned it to the server, and he just kind of chuckled and brushed it off. My waffle choice was the pearl sugar waffle. It was really dry, but I'm not sure how it's supposed to be because I've never had that type before, the flavor was good. Steak was too chewy for me, but husband said it was ok, but would not order it again. Restaurant was clean and inviting, staff was nice. Had to ask for a coffee to refilled. We are going to return and order something different. Lots to choose from. I'm hoping to give more stars next time.

Yelp
After reading some reviews, we tracked on their website the waitlist to make sure we didn't have a long wait. We checked in on the waitlist when we were about 10 minutes from the shop as there were two parties already booked on there and said the wait was 15 minutes. We arrived and waited about 5 minutes for them to clear tables. I highly recommend checking in on the waitlist for weekends as when we got there, there were about 5 tables waiting for walk-in. Cute little shop bustling with families and lively conversations. It is a bit loud as it is an open space so take that in mind. We ordered a latte and Bloody Mary to start. Latte was decent and strong. Bloody Mary wasn't so great per hubs, the mixer was sub par per him. #1 son ordered the chicken and waffle sandwich with the waffle fries 9/10, he said the waffle didn't really stand up to all the yumminess they added to it, if it was crisper and sturdy it would have been been 10/10. Taste though was 10/10 and the comeback sauce and ranch were spot on. Hubs had the Ranchero steak and eggs...he enjoyed it, hash browns nice and golden, amazing chimichurri sauce, the fail was dubbing the steak "carne asada" Carne is nice and thin and this was more like steak, thicker cut. It was still delicious it , just call it Steak and eggs as it is not authentic Carne Asada. Flavor was 10/10 though. I had the wake and waffle 8/10, perfect hash browns, my over easy eggs were a little past easy and the pork sausage patties were significantly smaller than seen in some photos. I had the southern cornmeal waffles with the honey cinnamon butter. TLDR, go here and check it out ,decent breakfast and you can find what you like. Great service and cute ambience.

Yelp
Had to visit before a Jonas Brothers concert... if you know you know... and we absolutely love their waffles! So fluffy and light! My friend ordered the Chicken & Waffle. Chicken was so crispy and paired well with the waffle. Appreciated that it was a thick piece of chicken. I ordered the Wake N Waffle, which the hash browns had a crispy outside and a soft inside. Didnt like the chicken apple sausage as much, was a bit dry and over-burnt. The "choose one of our classic waffles" got me fooled because when they asked which waffles I wanted with it, I thought it meant any. It said below it "upgrade to a sweet sensation waffle for only $4" so when you look at the menu, read which ones are The Classics and the Sweet Sensations. For drinks, I ordered the Brown Sugar Cardamom Latte. Subtly sweet and smooth creamy coffee is the best way to describe it. Overall, will come back again. There were a ton of people here when we arrived at 1 pm on a Friday, but there were a couple seats available for us on the spot and we only waited less than a minute to get a seat. Service was patient, sweet, and quick as we got our food in about 15 minutes and they assisted us every 5 minutes when we were still undecisive about what we wanted.

Damon S.

Yelp
3rd time I've showed up for online order when I was told it would be ready and still had to wait another 20 minutes. Food is mediocre for the price and the wait staff is inexperienced

Audra B.

Yelp
This is a yummy spot but can sometimes get quite busy and there can be a wait. It can get loud especially if there's a lot of families! There is a good variety of items on the menu and if you like waffles, you'll love any of theirs!

Austin P.

Yelp
I think this place is pretty rad! It definitely gets busy, but if you're there solo or with one other person, you can sit at the bar (so long as there are seats available). I went by myself, so I sat at the bar. I had ordered a cardamom latte and the turkey bacado sandwich. The server misunderstood what I was looking for and gave me the brown sugar cardamom latte. As I expected, it was a little too sweet for my liking. The sandwich was delicious, though I would've appreciated it if the waffle were a bit more toasted. Good food, good vibes, and great location.

Yelp
Went to check out Waffle Stop on the recommendation from my daughter, she and her hubby live this place! We are not locals, but they are, so we headed out to grab some breakfast on Sunday morning. We found parking on a side street and was happy to see that we could immediately get a table. They have a good-sized menu with a lot of choices. Being the name is Waffle Stop, I had to get some kind of waffle, so I got the hot chicken and waffle. The other items ordered are pictured. The portions here are pretty generous, most notable, and the oatmeal with fruits is huge! The chicken and waffle looked good, but the presentation was kind of plain. It was only topped with powdered sugar but came with 2 freshly fried chicken beats, which was very tasty! The hot honey was not spicy at all, almost no spice what so ever. The waffle itself was ok. It was a bit firm, almost like a cookie. I'm pretty sure that this is just their version of waffle that i never had before. Oh, they have very good coffee's, the French press was excellent, as was the one with brown sugar and cardamom.

Yelp
Perfect brunch spot! They have fresh squeezed orange juice which make for amazinggg mimosas! It's also fantastic on its own. It's a waffle lovers heaven!! I loved my classic buttermilk waffle but the other flavors looked equally amazing. The staff was great. There can be quite a wait so be sure to check on that before going.

Yelp
Found this breakfast spot on Yelp. It had a ton of reviews and still was ranked high, so I felt comfortable it would be good. Decided to go with my son. Came in, we were greeted cheerfully at the podium, and sat a mere minutes later. Our server, Cherise, was very attentive and quickly took an order for our beverages. The fresh squeezed OJ was on hit, my son got the coffee. We both ordered the Wake and waffle which is essentially a waffle combo with eggs, your choice of breakfast meats, and hash browns. Cherise suggested the in house made habanero sauce on the side, which paired perfectly with the crispy hashed browns. We had the buttermilk waffle with blueberries. The waffle was soft inside, with crispy edges and exterior. Whipped butter and maple syrup made this an instant hit. The maple glazed bacon was chewy, sweet, and savory. For a place that was busy, the staff seemed to work in unison, quickly attending to the diners needs and supporting each other which made for an experience that anticipated needs, and fulfilled your wishes. Positive vibes, good food, and staff that genuinely gave service with a smile. I'd definitely come back, thanks to Cherise and everyone else at the Waffle Stop!

Yelp
Decided to stop by for Mother's Day Brunch. Food was spectacular as well as their service. They were quick and our orders came exactly as we ordered them. The waffles are delicious and their scramble platters are filling and yummy. Ambiance is great, the place is cute and clean and a great spot for pics. Overall enjoyed our visit and our food and will definitely return if Im in the Tacoma area. Don't skip this place!

Yelp
My partner found this place while dashing. We came in today for brunch with our wedding officiant. WHAT A JOY! I love that I was able to put myself on the waitlist from home. The wait was about an hour from home. And maybe 15 minutes once we arrived. They do not mess around. People are in and out! Our sever was Mickey and dear God give that girl a raise! She set the tone from the moment we sat down and it just got better and better. The food explains why people are willing to wait as long as needed. Between all of us we had the California scramble, three types of waffles, garlic fries, and friend chicken and eggs. Perfection. Everything was cooked well and full of flavor. It feels like a diner, kind of loud but not frustrating. Definitely will return. Easy five stars here.

Yelp
Food is always amazing! Id recommend trying this place out during the week cause the weekend wait time can be pretty long but like i said the food is always amazing and definitely worth the wait. The cherry on top for me is their customer service, always served with a smile! Good vibes for me! You need to absolutely get -- The Chicken waffle fries, the bacon cookie butter waffle and the strawberry cheesecake waffle! Cant wait to eat there again!

Yelp
Service was great! I recommend getting in the call ahead seating list. The wait is about 30 minutes otherwise on a busy Saturday. Place was pretty clean, open dining area does get a little loud, but a fun environment Food: oh man so delicious! Loaded waffle fries- yummy Waffles: berry, pumpkin cheesecake and Nutella were all so good Chicken: so juicy and crispy Will come back!!

Yelp
Food was great, cleanliness and service was on point, server was tentative and patient. Would definitely recommend for my breakfast goers! YUMMM! This is my 2nd visit and had the same experience both times!

Yelp
Delicious restaurant but don't go if you are trying to work while you eat. Very loud. Food is awesome though.

Yelp
Another amazing hidden gem in Tacoma. This hole in the wall is Amazing! Would go here every day if I could. Food is amazing, the drinks are amazing with a wide selection, and the service was very welcoming and very consistent.

Yelp
We came across this place while visiting the farmers market. We decided to try it out after reading some of the reviews. Upon entering, there were 3 parties ahead of us. We were standing and waiting in line until it was our turn. Right after the party in front of us were seated, a gentleman and his kid came in and stood next to us. The hostess looked to the other party and was gonna seat them next. My wife stopped the hostess and told her we were next in line. We also told the gentleman that we were waiting ahead of them. The gentleman told the hostess we're next in line and the hostess also heard my wife. To our disappointment, she simply shrugged off our remarks abd said 'oh it's okay, we'll be able to seat everyone.' Now again, it was not a matter of seating availability, but the fact that we were waiting in line and should have been next. When she came back, she said 'oh actually let us first clean up a table for you guys.' So technically had to wait longer. This ruined the experience for us. We ordered food and ate. The server tried to apologize for the hostess service. Later on, the hostess came to our table and said she gave us a discount and "apologized" for our experience. However, she gave an "excuse" that it was because there were too many people coming in and its hard to keep track. Again, I don't need the excuse, and I don't think the excuse is valid, given we already told her we were first, its not like she didn't know. Hope they're able to either create a better seating system (maybe check in, write someones name, so they actually know the order).

Yelp
The hash browns, pork patty, and eggs were delicious, with the pork patty tasting particularly fresh and flavorful. While the waffles were good overall, I found the strawberry cheesecake topping a bit too sweet for my liking. The Nashville chicken and waffles stole the show, with the chicken being exceptionally juicy and crunchy, complementing the waffles perfectly. The combination was a delightful burst of flavors. However, the service was a bit lacking, as our server didn't check on us frequently or offer refills as expected. Despite this, the ambiance of the place was pleasant, ideal for a casual brunch outing without being overly fancy.

Yelp
Perfect. Absolutely everything. Just Perfect! They were busy busy busy when we got there, but these folks have it DOWN, so we were seated right away, and everything was SO "well oiled machine" from there! But, on to the food... Miki had the Verry Berrry waffle and I had the California Scramble (without whip). Her berries were fresh and tasty, the liege waffle perfect, she loved it! My scramble though was ... a work of high art. Not only were the eggs just absolutely perfect (WHO even bothers to do eggs right in a scramble these days?!) fluffy wuffy just medium, not overcooked or dry at all and... OH MY GAWD ... where can I buy this Beecher's Premium cheddar? WOW! Sorry, Tillamook, you are a distant runner up to this one! Lots of fresh avocado, nice chunks of chicken... just what I needed. I could not finish, though I tried so hard I thought I might burst... my mouth was still hungry but my stomach just would not have it. I love the fact that this is staffed mainly by college students, but also that they appear to be happy, well trained and working together so well, because, as someone who worked their way though college at fast food joints, I can speak to the lifelong value of not only the lessons learned there, but that the friendships made are some of the most treasured over a lifetime. It makes me feel so good about the place and I look forward to coming back!

Yelp
Service was quick and efficient. Waitress answered questions and made recommendations. Didn't have to wait long since there were only two of us. I had the avo scramble with hashbrowns nd toast. Hubby had the pearl waffle with eggs and bacon. Everything was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back to try more options!

Yelp
On a Thursday afternoon, I was still anticipating a crowd after reading reviews- but I was pleasantly surprised by it not being busy! It is in such a cute location, and its decor and color-theming is fantastic, sincerely one of the most adorable restaurants I've been to. It's picturesque and I only mourned that I hadn't taken my friends here. The waitstaff were so friendly, and even sat across from me to help me over the menu and answered my questions honestly and with love for the food they make. I ordered a simple drip coffee (they have a deal of French press for two, so if you have a date in Tacoma- TAKE THEM HERE), and the mini mess hall. The coffee is Café D'arte, which is roasted locally in Federal Way and served in these adorable branded mugs. The china is just as cute as the rest of the restaurant! The mini mess haul. Oh my god. The first bite almost made me cry. The waffle is crisp, hashbrowns perfect and hot, the bacon is layered under and on top of the gravy, and the gravy is superb(not to mention the eggs are done to your preference). The food came out quickly and was nice and hot, and it was just what I needed after work. All in all, 5/5 on every front. This place exceeded my expectations, even after spending all day thinking about it and how good it would be. This place is a must-visit in Tacoma!

Yelp
I eat here frequently, with my husband, all my friends, family members. I love that it is a small family owned business and everyone there hustles so hard. The food is phenomenal and everyone is so nice and accommodating. Everything on the menu is wonderful, even the non waffle items at 5 stars. I'd recommend adding yourself to their waitlist as it can get very busy weekend mornings.

Yelp
Amazing food and environment. You won't be disappointed to visit this place. Was recommended by the hotel we were staying at and did not disappoint, all contraire we went back the next morning.

Yelp
Tried it the WeeWaffle and the Nashville chicken and waffle. They were ok. The device was great, very friendly, clean and professional. The popular Pearl Sugar Waffle was dry almost too flour-y, and well the pictures tell ya about the Wee Waffle, which was 1 egg 1 waffle of choice and 1 protein. I don't know why the eggs and maple bacon were dark in color. It was a nice try.

Yelp
Food is pretty good. We had chicken and waffles it was good. The turkey sandwich was better.

Yelp
Concept: You would think the name would say it all, but consider these waffles kicked up a notch or three. Food: I'm in love. I mean, pure waffle love. And I'm not even a waffle enthusiast. The go-to waffle is a pearl sugar waffle, meaning that "pearls" of sugar are mixed within the waffle batter. For those staunch traditionalists like myself, a buttermilk base is also on the menu, plus a Southern waffle option. The combinations on top of these waffles are what pushed this place over the top for me. My wife had a lemon curd and blueberry compote(ish) combination. I would have risked it all to steal a significant portion after I was allowed a single bite. (Like what the heck, lady?) However, I had my hands full with the savory Fried Chicken and Egg Bowl. Truth in advertising: this is not, in fact, a bowl. It was an epic adventure, however. The buttermilk fried chicken was amazing. Like work of art amazing. Important note: the gravy with my meal was a cream gravy, sans pork. They serve a sausage gravy as well, but non-pork country gravy is rare to find around these parts. I wallow in pork, but my wife does not. This is a great find for her. Service: Given that the place was packed two days before Christmas, the fact that the service was good at all could be considered a minor miracle. But amidst the throngs of people inside, they did very well. Friendly, as attentive as they could be given the huge rush, and on top of things overall. Our server earned her tip. Yes, she did. Even more amazing: our food came quickly, even amid the mass of diners. I was shocked. Atmosphere: Pleasant, fun yellow, and packed. They probably fit a few too many tables in the space, but they were on top of clearing our plates so that "we wouldn't accidentally get our hands messy" with goopy used plates on a small table. Did I mention our server earned her tip? Price: Given how expensive dining out can be in 2023, I found the prices to be remarkably reasonable. Caveat: I'm talking Western Washington reasonable, not rest-of-the-country reasonable. I think the food + service was well worth the price, all things considered. The takeaway: Just do it. And be ready to defend your lemon curd and blueberry compote(ish) waffle with your life. Don't say I didn't warn you.
