It’s the second time in this eeek that I ordered the same. Shrimps with cashew nuts, it’s delicious and good portion and presentation. It’s a comfort food for me that I Chinese

I have NEVER received beef in this way for a beef and broccoli anywhere. Entirely rubbery, knife needed, ruined my meal. This beef is clearly bad, zoom in.

I tried to give this place a second chance after food poisoning probably do to the delivery app service taking a very long time to deliver. The restaurant gave me a credit. I went in person to get something fresh. The lady(perhaps owner) was rude and told me everything they had was made with MSG. After several questions, I decided on items with no sauce...all their sauces are pre-made. Their egg rolls and even crab Rangoon has MSG. The lady said to buy my own sauce which I did at the nearby Kroger. Unfortunately, I ended up with burnt grease aftertaste and an owner (manager) that left a bad taste in my mouth. Really low end and dirty windows and tables. The interior was dark and dank and overall, I hope people avoid this place. They are not welcoming and I did not see the health department # posted. Hole in the walls are fine but this one is really dirty and probably the reason I got sick...I have them the benefit of the doubt. Thought the long delivery time was the problem but seems it is their unsafe food practices .

Google
Customer service was great. I got shrimp and chicken fried rice and sweet and sour chicken, both rices could have been cooked longer but the chicken one was gross no flavor at all. Sweet and sour chicken was good and crunchy. Most likely wouldn’t come back though. Spent $32 not worth it.

Wah Mei has the best singapore mei fun there is. Get it hot, just trust me!

Google
The food is cheap and great. I ordered out. I have never tried the buffet. The portions are large and the staff are nice.

Google
This place has been here for like 20+ years. They make the best Chinese food in the city. I highly recommend getting food here

Google
I’ve eaten here before on their Buffet and also picked up to go and have never had a problem… Not anything to write home about, but certainly adequate. I know I’m not in the heart of Buffet time at 4pm, but if you’re not going to have a Buffet suitable to eat from then you should close it. I am not a picky eater… And I’m not a perfectionist… I have a wide and varied taste in food… but this place had a Buffet where I couldn’t find ANYTHING worth eating. I ended up settling for egg rolls, which were overdone and tasteless and egg drop soup (also lousy), because the hot and sour soup was so hot with spice that I would have suffered later even though I have a pretty good stomach. I think the best part of the meal was the fortune cookie and my water! It was a really, really sad performance. Not only were many of the dishes nearly empty when I got there and still when I left… but there just wasn’t anything there I could eat . Food so overdone that I couldn’t even cut it with a knife! The person who greeted me was rude, and could not speak English at all. … she never even showed me where to sit. I had to find where she had put the drink down on my own. And she never did come to remove the plates with inedible food on them. I didn’t think it was possible to mess up some of these dishes… I mean, even the noodles and dumplings were terrible! Both kinds! Even their fried rice was dry and tasteless straight out of the rice cooker. I can’t say enough bad things about this experience, and I certainly will not be back. Find somewhere else to eat… Almost anywhere will be better.

Yelp
I couldn't find how to write a review for a specific menu item, even though I see some on the menu. There are currently two reviews of the Hot and Sour soup, and both are 1 star, saying it is the worst they have ever had. I feel bad for those people, because I have consistently told people that this is the best Hot and Sour soup I have ever had. Either the recipe has changed, or our taste buds are vastly different. I have actually enjoyed almost everything I have ever ordered from here.

Yelp
Old reliable Wahmei. Couldn't bring myself to go out to shop in the freezing temperatures, so I placed an online order. There's a $3.00 fee, and your order must be $15.00 minimum. Tried something new, Singapore Mei Fun. Spicy! Enough for two more ratings. Added egg rolls to the order. Importantly, stayed warm and cozy. 96

Yelp
I think Wahmei has the best Chinese food in Lexington. Everything there is good and their egg rolls are famously good. I don't think you can ever go wrong there.

Yelp
I have ordered from here three times now and it is the absolute worst food I have ever eaten. I ordered vegetable fried rice and it was bland, had pieces of hard rice, and no vegetables. Well it did have vegetables-you know those 99 cent bags of cubed carrots and peas your mom made you eat-it had that in it. No broccoli, no onions, no snap peas, nothing else. Also ordered Pad Thai and I can't even begin to tell you how utterly disgusting it was. I threw it all away and will never, ever order from here again!!!
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
I got this specifically because I love General Tso's tofu. This was the most disgusting Chinese food of my life. they don't offer vegetable fried rice as an option only either plain fried rice or meat infused rice. The plain rice was super bland. The tofu I don't know is actually even tofu it's some weird airy squishy material on the interior of a chewy gross flesh like "breading". It's pretty nasty and it's a second night in a row of having gross food in Lexington. I should start going back to eating downtown instead of on the outskirts.

Karen D.

Yelp
WahMei is the best! It's a family business, and I've always gotten excellent food and customer service here. I recommend this place.

Yelp
Recently moved back to Lexington and needed a new Chinese restaurant. The egg drop soup was AMAZING. It comes with the crunchies and the crab rangoons and egg rolls were great. The entrees were decent and met expectations, but really the soup was the star! So if you like egg drop soup this is the place to go!

Josh G.

Yelp
Super fast takeout, reliable and consistent quality, and nice staff. Pretty much all you can ask for, great place.

Yelp
I love this family-owned restaurant. I've been coming here for years. The high quality vegetarian and vegan options, plus the wonderful people who work here, keep me coming back.

Yelp
Wahmei is our go to week night meal when neither of us want to cook. The website always says a generic 60-80 minutes but we've never waited longer than 30 minutes for delivery. When it arrives it is HOT and FRESH. We have never had a bad experience in the 538585x we've ordered from there. Also, the delivery driver is nice and waits for you to retrieve your bag from the porch before driving away. Some of our favorites are the orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, steamed dumplings, chicken lo mein, shrimp toast and crab Rangoons.

Sapphire B.

Yelp
Delicious food and decent prices for what you get! We would go there all the time if we lived in the area. The tender bamboo shoots are a nice touch inside the food.

Yelp
HORRIBLE SERVICE DISGUSTING FOOD DO NOT EAT HERE WHATEVER YOU DO. I've had two bad experiences and will never come here again. I advise you to tell your friends and family about this place and to stay away... Rude over the phone, very rude in person, stingy with portions and sauces, flavorless food, overpriced. NOT WORTH IT much better places out there.. I literally wasted money tipping them

Yelp
This is probably my the closest Chinese place to where I live. This was the first time trying it. It was empty as we went in around 2:00. A young boy was on a cell phone who seated us. Not overly friendly. I ordered the chicken and broccoli lunch special. My daughter had the beef Lo Mein lunch special. Those run 11-3 and are less than 7.00 and most under 6.00. They come with white or fried rice and an egg roll. Mine came with water chestnuts which I don't like. It was okay for what would normally be take out Chinese. The broccoli was under cooked and too crunchy for my liking. My daughter enjoyed hers but it only had 3-4 beef pieces on it. She is almost 7 so take it for what it's worth. Had to track someone down to get some sweet and sour sauce for the egg roll. I may come again but will stay with our tried and true delivery from our favorite one over off Richmond RD!

Yelp
This is the best Chinese Restaurant in Lexington!! I have loved this restaurant for years and years. Favorites include Generals Tao's, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, Wonton Soup, Egg Drop Soup and Fried Rice!
google avatar

Yelp
It is still terrible, but edible. The Wahmei I used to frequent with my family when I was I kid was in a different location in town too. I don't know if it was under the same ownership or cooks. If so they should really go back to their classic standards.
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
We love Wah Mei. Great food everytime we order. I always get the General Tso Chicken combo platter. I can't think of a time they got it wrong or was bad. I also like the convience of ordering on their website.
google avatar

Jimmy S.

Yelp
My wife and I ordered the lunch specials. They were both plenty of food for a $6 lunch. Both came with a side of fried rice and egg roll. Her shrimp was not completely deveined, but other than that everything was really well done. Also, I got there a few minutes earlier than my expected time. When I got there a young child was sitting at the desk. He wanted to play catch, and I was glad to play along. That really made my day. :)

Yelp
Ordered take out from this place and it was probably the worst Chinese food I have ever put in my mouth. I ordered beef pad Thai and all I tasted was fish sauce and the dish was sitting in liquid (maybe it was the fish sauce). Most pad thai that I have tasted were more on the drier side, this one had so much liquid that it was close to eating soup. The chicken teriyaki on a stick was the worst. Literally took a bite and spit it out. I'm probably, not going to order from here again.

Yelp
I feel like this place has gone downhill over the years. I gave it one more try over the weekend and ordered the General TSO' chicken. The General TSO' Chicken in the Walmart deli taste so much better and has higher quality meat then this location. My meal also had a fishy taste and I ordered no fish. It was fresh and hot tho. What a bummer this place has become.

Allison M.

Yelp
Our food was just all around terrible AND it took 1 hour and 20 minutes for delivery on a normal Thursday evening. It was cold by the time it got to us and was not flavored well at all. Will not be ordering again.
google avatar

Travis W.

Yelp
Prices are great and serving sizes are large. We typically dine in and though the eating area is small we have never had to wait. service is fast and friendly. I recommend the bourbon chicken, it is awesome. Cons: the TV always seems to be on nickelodeon Pros: always the same waitress

James M.

Yelp
I basically live right across the street and after a year or so I finally gave into the temptation, big mistake. I feel bad giving a poor review because the service was great but the meat was horrid. Better off going next door to Kroger and grabbing something off their sushi bar to get your fix

April N.

Yelp
Worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. I had this delivered. The food was cold and tasted days old. The sesame chicken was disgusting, the rice was dry and the spring rolls were dripping in oil. It was unsettling and I won't order from here ever again. Inedible. Unfortunately I wasted my money and tossed it in the garbage

Yelp
This place is great. The food is always wonderful and the service is top-notch. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. All of the food is always great. I've never had anything that I didn't enjoy there. the Shrimp Toast is simply scrumptious! The seating area, though small, is clean and very enjoyable. If you're looking for fast and affordable, this is your place.

Dennis L.

Yelp
Staff were appropriately friendly. Take out order was ready in a timely manner. Food ordered was OK, nothing special except for the Hot and Sour soup. Absolutely the worst Hot and Sour soup that I have had the misfortune to taste in my 63 years on planet earth. The worst by a mile. Find a recipe besides whatever you are using now! Hot and Sour soup is delicious and wonderful - except from Wah Mei.
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
Have loved this place for years but it's not as good as it used to be. The soup used to be hot when you got home, now you have to heat it up. Still good tho. Used to order General Tso's chicken all the time but it isn't the same. Too much breading and different flavors. I will try a few more dishes and hope for the best. Come on guys, pull it together!
google avatar

Chelmsbury L.

Yelp
This place serves the best fried dumplings in town. These dumplings are generous in size, hand made, and filled with lots of meat; the way it is suppose to be made. Their Mongolian beef dish is also very flavorful.

T D.

Yelp
This is possibly the worst Chinese I've ever ordered. The meat was all fat and gristle. The vegetables were over cooked. The only thing eatable was the fortune cookies. We threw $70 worth of food in the trash.
google avatar

Yelp
If you can swallow it, each bite is a self-sentence to the loo. Tasteless and boring food, with an equal decor. Dining in the restaurant is a bleak affair, dark, dank and, by the end of your meal, pointless. I have heard there are regulars which is equally astonishing. Perhaps though you will find yourself lacking any ability to cook for yourself, void of creative dining options, or too lazy to even pop a meal in the oven and you will stop by. It's your night in the loo, cheers!

Sue M.

Yelp
Egg drop soup was amazing , egg rolls so fresh and hot and the best of all is the chicken fried rice with no vegetables and no onions we had a good dinner and we enjoyed the fortune cookies

John R.

Yelp
Just moved from the Boston area where I had great Chinese food. Most of the places I've tried in Lexington have been disgusting. I tried this place at the suggestion of my Mom. I started with some of the "standards" and it wasn't bad. Not the best I've had, but I'll go back for more. Seems like a good take-out place, but there was nobody in the small-ish dining room. I'd like to find a good place with a bar when I can get a drink and some good food. I'll keep looking.
google avatar

Robin R.

Yelp
I've been here several times, mostly to dine in. The food is always fantastic and service is great. I love their crab rangoon and lo mien.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
I usually have the chicken lo mien takeout. It tastes great and isn't overly salty like some Chinese food. The combination dinner includes an entrée, rice, and an egg roll for a little over $7. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. The service isn't the friendliest in town.
google avatar

John F.

Yelp
This is the Chinese Restaurant I order from regularly. They have some of the best fried and steamed dumplings I have ever had while the rest of the food is good it is not amazing but it's better than most of the other local options.
google avatar

Sandy A.

Yelp
Mediocre Chinese, convenient for quick fix if you live nearby.
google avatar

Sabra E.

Yelp
This is our go to Chinese Restaurant. Very good fried rice and spicy chicken lo mein. Also, like the sweet and sour chicken better than most places in the vicinity. Give it a try!
google avatar

Kurt C.

Yelp
Not the best takeout in Lexington but it's close to home, reasonably priced, and overall rather delicious. The staff is very friendly. The egg rolls are fantastic as is the General Tso's chicken. This is a great alternative to pizza and when I crave Chinese takeout I go with tried and true.

Drew C.

Yelp
Not impressed... Hot and sour Soup tasted as though it were a week old, beef lo mein had very few noodles and way too many undercooked vegetables... Delivery took an hour and I practically live next door. There are other Chinese delivery restaurants in the area that are much more worth the money.
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
Large portions, low prices, and fast delivery make this one of the best places in town!
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Great prices and good quality. The staff are very friendly and will season your food however you like. Not gourmet, but great for takeout.
google avatar

Sara A.

Yelp
Easy ordering, fast pick up and good food. Steamed veggies are great! Never dined in, dining room atmosphere isn't very appealing.
google avatar

Patrick C.

Yelp
I approached the take out counter where 2 people were sitting. I asked them if they had or could make "War Su Gai", or recommend something similar. I described what it was and he had no similar recommendations or even showed any interest in trying to understand me. Although in hindsight, I believe the almond chicken on their menu is similar. Not only did they not know what it was, they snickered while talking in Chinese to each other. I am sure it was nothing, but it did made me feel uncomfortable. I ended ordering General Tso chicken, which was alright. But nothing to rave about.

Jacob S.

Yelp
I have a love hate relationship with this place The positives first 1) it delivers very quickly to the surrounding areas, and the drivers don't often expect tips 2) the owners have been nice whenever I'm in there 3) and all the food is great!.... Negatives 1)....when cooked properly They have great ingredients that make good Chinese food but ultimately every time I order from here something is over cooked or under cooker. I've had pink chicken I've had extremely runny crab Rangoon And I've had super dry sweet and sour chicken The convenience of this place will make me come back but there are better Chinese places out there without a doubt With this they were very conscious of my friends gluten allergy, so that is always a plus!
