The Best Restaurants At LAX - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Yes, this fish taco chain has locations all over the country—and even one in Japan—but in a can’t-find-my-gate pinch, their Outer Reef burrito hits the spot (and is good for eating on the plane). The Stanley-tumbler-sized behemoth is packed with a protein of choice (get the fish), plus rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, and a slightly spicy green salsa." - brant cox, sylvio martins

Wahoo's Fish Tacos is an absolute gem for anyone craving delicious, fresh tacos that truly hit the spot. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a vibrant atmosphere that radiated warmth and energy. The staff was incredibly friendly and eager to help, making my experience all the more enjoyable. Now, let’s talk about the food. The fish tacos were nothing short of outstanding! Each bite was a delightful explosion of flavor, with perfectly seasoned fish, crisp vegetables, and a zesty sauce that tied it all together. The portion sizes were generous, and I appreciated the fresh ingredients that made every taco feel like a treat. However, I couldn’t help but notice the impact of inflation creeping into even the simplest aspects of dining out. It’s a shame that the prices have risen, making us feel it all the way down to something as basic as a ketchup packet. Despite this, the overall experience at Wahoo’s made it worth every penny. In a world where dining out can sometimes feel like a financial burden, Wahoo's Fish Tacos stands out as a place where great food and a pleasant experience come together beautifully. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty meal that leaves you feeling satisfied!

Google
Stopped by for dinner, not our first time, and forsure not our last. The crispy fish tacos here are amazing!!! The tacos are packed and taste great with guacamole. The burrito was large and filling. The loaded quesadilla has drag large pieces of chicken and a great sized meal. The service was great and we felt appreciated as customers.

Google
Great food. Inside and outside dining options. I love the chicken 1998 burrito with Mr. Lee's hot sauce on the side. Their onion rings are also amazing.

Google
Staff are friendly! Everything tasted fresh and was cooked well. Good flavor! We ordered the burrito, grilled fish taco with slaw, bowl with mild fish and salad with spicy fish. Taco was delightful especially with the cilantro sauce.

Google
Their crispy fish taco and citrus slaw are really good....really fresh!! I also like their fuego carnitas taco with roasted corn and queso fresco. They go amazingly well together. They also have a mini salsa bar where you can choose and self-serve. My favorite is roasted tomato salsa.

Google

Google
Nice place for some fish grub. Shrimp tacos were spot on and flavorful. The kona chili is great with some cheese and nachos. The entire place is oozing surferbro vibes.

Yelp
Been coming here since childhood - really great service and kind staff. Great to sit at a booth and eat casually

Yelp
Disgusting ! I used to go often with my children when this place first open ,many years ago. It used to be clean, fresh, lots of flavor . Now is just a dump. Place is dirty, old, went to serve myself some hot sauce to go , when reaching for the limes, a million fruit flies attacked my hand . The food: rice was cold , beans were ok. Fish was old ,no flavor. On my way out I noticed the B health grade on their door. If I have seen it on the way in , would have gone to the right to get my meal . Never ever coming back.

Yelp
It is always a very positive experience coming here. Saw some new item on the menu but need to stick with my fav the spicy chicken over brown rice no beans ( beans normally come with it ) and side of chips a guacamole. Always friendly service and Ben with a few in front of us the line moved quickly. The overall feel of this place is like beach meets skate and a very good vibe for the area. Plenty of parking and just a great place to visit .

Yelp
We had chips and salsa to start and then the fish tacos platter and shrimp tacos. Very tasty and light, not heavy or greasy. Flavors were spot on. We went on Sunday at an off hour .. about 3pm. The gal at the register (and who brought our food to the table) was very pleasant and happy. Restaurant was clean and well stocked with self-serve side sauces. Nice experience.

Yelp
The fish tacos are great! I go here specifically for their fish tacos. Cooked well and the salsa bar is great for everyone's spice level. The decor is very Southern California surfing vibe. Very chill and low key. The service from taking my order to delivery is good, no complaints at all. Overall, a good place for fish tacos.

Yelp
Fish tacos were super!! I also had the burrito with the chicken, mushrooms, and chili sauce, awesome flavor, a bit too hot-spicy for me, but I am a wus . Very tasty though!!

Yelp
I've been here a few times and food has been good. Today we ordered the 1988 taco plate. Mine had one with carnitas and one with steak. Meal was good; however, the tortillas where not hot, the bottom tortilla was cold and the top one was like warm, probably due to the hot protein. The tortillas fell apart when I picked up the taco, due to the tortillas being cold. Service was excellent as always. Next time I'll request for tortillas to be hot if I order soft tacos again.
google avatar

Ron W.

Yelp
First time trying this place and I was not disappointed! I had to go with fish the first time so I tried the fish burrito with chips and both kinds of salsa ! Staff were friendly and parking was fairly easy - I will make a return visit !
google avatar

Yelp
Always a treat visiting Wahoo's! Sometimes the tofu bowl doesn't come out as hot as others, same with the fries. Most of the time it's on point! Love the green sauce, and friendly atmosphere. Service is warm and accommodating for any requests.

Yelp
Wahoo's Fish Tacos are fresh, tasty, and crispy crisp! Now that Rubio's is closing, we hope that Wahoo's Fish Tacos will be here to stay. Probably though Chipotle Grill focuses more on their bowls and burritos, Wahoo's Fish Tacos finds them to be their main competitor in the mindscape of the Southern Californian for Tex Mex offerings besides the ubiquitous duo of most appreciation, Del Taco and Taco Bell. If you can't go south of the border to Encinitas for "Best Fish Tacos" then try Wahoo's and you won't be sorry. You might have to get two or three instead of one.

Yelp
don't know if they changed vendors but lately their corn tortillas have been really flimsy. as soon as you pick it up, the middle section just falls through. you end up eating your tacos with a fork. I must have looked pretty pissed off because one of the staff asked if I was ok. I told him my tacos turned into a salad, so he remedied it with another taco that didn't instantly fall apart. thanks but please fix the problem with the shitty tortillas..

Yelp
Real good fresh food great place to relax. Nice staff ample parking. We are going to try to do the whole menu.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to grab a healthy quick meal whenever I am in the South Bay because I can count on getting a fresh meal that fits my food plan and tastes delicious for an affordable price. The staff is always friendly and efficient, and the place is clean and comfortable with a fun surf themed ambience. My personal faves are Kale Kai Salad with blackened fish and cilantro dressing or a fish taco with a large side of citrus slaw or ceviche. There are also meatless choices. Highly recommended !
google avatar

Yelp
This place is sooooo good. Food is fresh, staff is awesome. I went two days in a row while I was staying in the area for work. The citrus slaw is amazing. Fish taco was soo good. The rice looks like plain rice but it definitely has a good flavor as well. Will definitely be back if I am in the area again.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the first time we've eaten here. It was pretty good. I had carnitas tacos and cheese enchilada with black beans. My husband had fish tacos and soup. He like the tacos. We will be back to try the other items on the menu. I want to try the fish tacos.
google avatar

Yelp
Wahoos is a so cal tradition. Great value for taco plates. Come here for lunch. Quality "fast" food Everyone seems to get the #2 plate with two tacos. The spicy fish and the spicy chicken is the way to go

Laura T.

Yelp
The food is always good but today we were met with exceptional service. Debbie was so sweet and so helpful. We will return more often just because of the service we received today. It's very refreshing to receive customer service like we did today

David O.

Yelp
Food is very good service weather it dine in or take out excellent service portions are always decent and always offering extra utensils have been a customer over 40 years

Pedetta H.

Yelp
Great shrimp tacos and I love the spicy white beans. Great service, take a seat and enjoy all the decor of surf memorabilia.
google avatar

Yelp
Honesty this place is good. I like to get the Maui steak bowl. Their side salad or tacos are great portions. I also got their fish tacos and really yummy. Salmon bowl and guava drink really yummy. Chips and guacamole also good! The workers are all really friendly and helpful. Lots of drink options non-alcoholic and alcoholic. The vibe is chill but really cool decorations. I think the prices are decent for a chain nowadays but quality is consistent. I'm really bummed they closed the ones in Marina Del Rey and Santa Monica. I'd go a lot with my family or friends. Wahoos Torrance is doing a great job!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Basic experience, food was just ok. Nothing bad but nothing exceptional. Might just be what I ordered which was the Banzi Shrimp Burrito. The service was good; ordered at the counter, got a number and sat at a table. Food was brought to me after about 7 mins. Ambiance was fine, plenty of seats, lots of surf and skate pictures with autographs on the wall.

Patty S.

Yelp
Good food and excellent service. Martha gave us excellent service ask for her. We celebrated my cousin birthday over there they are very nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Located off Torrance Bl. In Torrance. Small parking lot available in the back shared with the other businesses. Dining inside and outside. I got the shrimp tacos and steak taquitos. Both items were good and I would get them again. Overall a good fast and easy place. The staff was nice and helpful. Food was quick.
google avatar

Yelp
I come here for takeout every once in a while. They have decent fish but also a variety of other meats such as chicken and carnitas. The food is pretty good but they take forever to prepare. If you do not call in advance, be prepared for a pretty substantial wait. Even if you call, sometimes it takes nearly 20 minutes for a single item. Sometimes I'll think of stopping by, but I remember how long it will take, and go somewhere else instead. On the flip side, it could be a good exercise in patience... if you're into that sort of thing.

Mike C.

Yelp
The food. Just was not good. Not fresh, barely warm. Taste was off. I had what I think was fish tacos but tasted anything like fish tacos. Service was ok. There was no one there so not unexpected. Place had a beach surf vibe, but tables were sticky. Yuck. I, unfortunately, will not return nor will I will visit any Wahoo.

Yelp
Go chipotle better than and 3 taco for $30 not gonna pay :) frozen fish really Mexican won't eat :))

Denise G.

Yelp
This place is terrible great customer service but the food not so much not only is the quality poor, it lacks in flavor the fish tacos are clearly frozen then fried and placed into a tortilla, the burrito looks like something a kid put together and 3 tacos, burrito and 1 fountain drink cost 32.00 what a waste
google avatar

Yelp
Since the 2 wahoos closed on Wilshire blvd in Santa Monica around the pandemic time, I have to travel to this location or eat it when I'm in Orange County. It's the freshest Mexican food with a Hawaiian flare. I've been obsessed with this place since 2004. It was the go to after bodyboarding& surfing in the OC.The cilantro dressing is to die for. Please please don't close this location. It's worth the trip 4 sure.
google avatar

Foodie G.

Yelp
We meet there every Sunday with friends. My favorite is the nachos and taquitos and their fountain drinks. Nice servers.

Yelp
The plan was to have my daughter pick up Mexican food from the taco truck on 190th between Western and Normandie but they haven't been showing up at 6 as scheduled so she had to come up with a plan B. After deciding on Wahoo's, I had her pick up an Outer Reef shrimp burrito with rice, sour cream and guacamole. It's been years since I've ordered food from them since they closed Sportmart/Sports Connection and Borders books nearby so I don't really have a reason to go by there. I was pleasantly surprised with my burrito. The shrimp was plentiful and the flavor was very good. It was a good sized burrito so I was very content after my meal was done. I'll have a remember to check in occasionally when I'm near Del Amo Mall or at a doctor's appointment in the area. Oh and by the way, the taco truck was there when my daughter drove back in that direction.

Yelp
The Fish tacos have a good taste just a little small,The staff is friendly. The inside of the restaurant has an Amazing Vibe with the Music.
google avatar

Awad E.

Yelp
Good fresh food for a reasonable price. We liked the seafood. They had good variety on their menu.
google avatar

Richard O.

Yelp
I'm upgrading my review, because I don't want this place to go out of business. I cameback today, and ate here because there's plenty of outdoor seating. There's two tables near the front of the entrance, and about 6 tables north of the restaurant at the opposite end of the restaurant's entrance. So there's plenty of outdoor seating, please come here and have the grilled fish tacos because they're delicious.

C S.

Yelp
Fish tacos flavor is bland and there's a lot of breading instead of fish. I wish there's more fish than breading, I paid $17 bucks to eat a bland taco and salad.

Alexis P.

Yelp
i got sick minutes after eating a carne asada taco and they overcharge for tacos? the meat looked raw?!

Yelp
I came in on a Friday evening craving some fish tacos. I needed to be somewhere else ASAP, so I was hoping this would be a quick pit stop. Luckily, it was. Located on the southeast corner of Torrance and Amie, the lot for Wahoo's Fish Tacos wasn't too spacious, and there were a few other businesses next door. At first, I was afraid that parking would be an issue. Fortunately, there were a handful of spots open when I arrived. I ordered the #1 combo, choosing the Fish Tacos, Cajun Beans, and White Rice. After ordering, I sat at a table in a room with a TV and lots of surfing decor on the walls. I hadn't fully soaked up the atmosphere by the time the food was presented to me. Either that was really really fast, or I was taking all the time in the world to admire my surroundings not knowing how much time had passed. Everything was delish! And no other customers were there. Just me, myself, and I on a Friday night enjoying fish tacos in Southern California. Exactly what the doctor ordered after a long week. After devouring my meal, one of the staff members was happy enough to clean up my table. Appetite satiated. Taste buds delighted. Courteous staff. Quick stop-and-go. Two thumbs up!

Yelp
I have ordered more than a few times from the Torrance Wahoo's, both before, during, and after the pandemic, usually without incident, but today's visit was the worse. I ordered, via online, Chips and guacamole, 2 fried fish tacos, and 2 grilled fish tacos with black beans and rice. When I arrived home from picking up my order, I discovered guacamole and red sauce or salsa and NO chips. So, I returned to Wahoo's to pick up the chips that I ordered. Other than an apology, nothing else. I would have thought that I would've been given a complimentary bag chips to compensate my having to drive back to Wahoo's which I should not had to do. After returning home from Wahoo's for a second time today, it turned out that the two fried fish tacos I ordered were grilled fish tacos and the 2 grilled fish tacos were fried fish tacos, unfortunately, the screw up on one of the fish tacos orders wasn't realized until after tacos were consumed by my wife. What a trifecta of screw ups! I will probably think twice before ordering from Wahoo's again, even though I like their food. If there was a zero star rating as the minimum amount of stars, I would have given zero (or a minus star) star rating. Word to the wise, double check your to-go orders before leaving Wahoo's or any other restaurant. At lease Chick-Fil-A offers a free chicken sandwich when they screw up an order.

Yelp
I've gone to several Wahoo Fish Taco locations and always order the "Kale Kai Salad", with blackened chicken, roasted peppers and the cilantro lime dressing, but this place had the sorriest looking salad I've ever had. I order pick-up and when I got back to work it was just disappointing, with little to no KALE! Too many fired tortilla chips or curlies and barely any chicken. Man, I need my $13.13 credited back. With my end-cost being 13.13, maybe I should have been forewarned of pending poor food preparation and/or bad luck with this meal!
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
I come to this Wahoos at least twice a month on lunch breaks. Phone ordering is always easy and the food is usually ready by the time I get here. Normally I get Mr. Lee's burrito since it has a nice spicy kick to it. Today I got the chicken nachos which are amazing and there is a pretty good amount too. I Like others have stated they are very surf and skate themed. The music is great and watching highlights while dining pre-Covid was nice. Since Covid Wahoos has set up outside seating on the back patio by the parking lot and they have a sanitized and used pens cup filled with either rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer.
google avatar

Henry R.

Yelp
I've been here a few times. Looks like the service has changed and the quality of the food. The last time the "New Albondigas soup" wasn't even cooked properly. There is rice in the meatballs but the rice was not even cook. It was raw and crunchy. This time the person or cashier was not even friendly. She spoke to soft and seemed like she did not want to be there. I asked her a question about a certain dish and she sounded like I should have known what it is and seemed disgusted that I asked the question.

Yelp
This place is fire. Food is always fresh. The staff is s nice and attentive n everything is priced fairly. 3.99 beers and combos for 12 dollars is a bargain. Fish tacos are clean fresh and tasty. Enchiladas are also worth trying. Green sauce is my favorite. Salads are good and don't forget the nachos. Yum.

Yelp
Food is a difficult thing to nail when it comes to some people . But for me ? Every time since 2014 my food is AMAZING! It's yummy, fresh, on point! It's 2019 now , and the service is amazing... Unlike other fast food restaurants... they actually care about how your food tastes , how you're doing , and if you're liking your experience at Wahoos tacos ! And that deserves more than 10 starZ! The staff is always friendly and ready to help ! They serve alcohol , margaritas with real Tequila ! I love that about Wahoos! It's ALWAYS CLEAN, cause they're always cleaning! I love wahoos ! And their staff! They're the best of the best! 5 years and counting , and the food and service is still 100%! Will be coming back , always ! -With Love ,-Jenn Castillo

Yelp
Really cool themed interior w skateboards, surfing and bmx/motocross pictures. Think skateshop w food. Super friendly employees and clean interior. Menu has great selections for fresh eating with tacos, burritos, soup, salads, enchiladas and bowls. You pick your protein - fish, incl salmon, chicken, steak, tofu and veggies. Mexican food w a california twist. We had Citrus slaw burrito, wahoo bowl w fish, Maui onion rings (soo good), Hawaiian onion ring burrito, ceviche and 2 fish taco plate. Everything was really good, the burritos come wet or dry and are 2 handed and stuffed. Plenty of drinks choices from fountain, bottles and fresh squeezed as well as beer and margaritas. Prices seem good for what you get. I would def come here again, just a shame it's about 30 min away.

Yelp
Torrance Food Crawl #114 The last time I was here was a few years ago. I remember that the fish tacos were much more prominently displayed on the menu. Today I had to search the menu to figure out if an item had fish or not. Now the generic term 'protein' is used when you order and you select chicken, carnitas, carne asada, shrimp, tofu, or fish. The fish tacos I've had here before were very good but seeing as how their emphasis is now shifting from fish to more 'protein' choices I went for a carnitas burrito. The Citrus Slaw Burrito contains one of those six proteins (mine was carnitas). Next you need to select the beans you want, brown or black (I went with black). Then you select your rice, white or brown (I went with brown). The burrito also contains citrus slaw, cheese, salsa, and on the side a green avocado flavored sauce. Its a good burrito but a little on the dry side, and not very spicy. I added some of the green sauce to each bite and that improved it but I was still seeking more spice. Consequently, I added some Tapatío hot sauce which helped the burrito tremendously. Aside from the Tapatío on the table there were some other hot sauces located by the soda machine but I didn't explore those. There is plenty of seating inside, as well as outdoor seating. When I was there it wasn't noisy but in the past I've been here when it was much more crowded and it gets very noisy.

Yelp
Great people, staff is very friendly and food is awesome! Never disappoints. Killer fun surf skate snow atmosphere. If you don't like wahoos your a look

Elianne V.

Yelp
Came here for a semi healthy lunch option and wasn't bad! Something quick and easy. Ambience - 4/5 your casual Wahoo fish taco, the outdoor tables were kept clean as well as the inside. Service - 5/5 quick ordering at the counter with friendly team member who brought out our order in a jiffy. Food - 3.5/5 salmon citrus tacos with rice and beans -- the tacos with the sauce were tasty, juicy and refreshing for a warm fall afternoon. The black beans were a little too watery and bland, the white rice was ok. 4/5 shrimp tacos with brown rice and spicy beans -- shrimp tacos were good. Would probably just get tacos and skip the side of rice and beans tbh. 3/5 chips and salsa -- a little too oily and salty Overall, you get your bang for your buck. Our entire meal was $25 or so? Plenty food and generous portion for the price. Would come again.

Yelp
Convenient and large menu with lots of healthy options. Get the refillable cup-one dollar refills when you return. I had the bowl as recommended which was good. Returned for grilled fish mild burrito but it was super spicy-verify. Kale salad is beautiful and huge! Great deal!

Yelp
Ah wahoos, by far my favorite restaurant. I go here about once a week. Fresh delicious fish. Service was fast, ambiance is nice. Overall a great experience.

Yelp
I had been wanting to visit this location for quite some time. I wasn't too impressed. First the good. The service was excellent with a helpful and super patient staff. It was my first time here and I asked many questions and even made the error of changing the order before I was done. (No worries there wasn't a line... I'm not that evil). So kudos on the helpfulness. The only part that disappointed me was the actual food. The fried fish tacos was the only hero of the bunch. So if I return I think I'll stick to that. Also the guacamole and chips was descent. The other tacos were not my cup of tea. Though, I admit there's nothing wrong with them. They just don't match my palette. Overall, nice people and good service. But not my style. I would still suggest checking them out. Perhaps we just differ on taste.
