Waikiki Beach Services @ Royal Hawaiian

We rented the umbrella and chair set in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. While there is always a long line in the morning to get the set, the process is super easy and you can either charge it to your room or to your credit card. The staff is very attentive and professional. They are also helpful by roaming the chairs and making sure there aren't any squatters while you are away from your chair. Will definitely rent from them again when we go back to Waikiki.

K was an awesome surf coach, she got me up within 2 tries and improved my rides each time. She helped me accomplish what I really wanted to do this vacation. The umbrella and lounge rental is easily worth the $99 for a full day of comfort and protection. The entire staff is helpful and professional. Made it a great week! Thanks!

Amazing First-Time Surfing Experience! My wife and I booked a private surf lesson, and it was my first time surfing. Our instructor, Matt, was fantastic! The location is incredibly convenient, especially if you're staying at the Royal Hawaiian Resort. Once we were in the water, Matt was very attentive, always checking our surroundings to make sure we weren’t interfering with other surfers. This helped us feel comfortable and allowed us to focus entirely on learning. He was patient and gave personalized feedback after each attempt, which helped us improve quickly. Plus, they offer a photographer who captures great photos and videos while you surf, which you can review and purchase afterward. Overall, it was a wonderful experience—I highly recommend Matt!

Miwa has been the BEST to work with. Not only did she help me with booking the beach umbrellas but she offered suggestions and great information through very detailed emails and phone conversations. I am facilitating a large group that is staying at the hotel and wanted to make sure we had everything planned well. Miwa has been very patient with my questions and so helpful. I feel very confident that it will be a sucesssful day!! Thank you so much Miwa… I look forward to meeting you in person!

My wife and I had a great time doing the outrigger canoe surfing here ! The crew are great, friendly and very helpful, as well as a lot of fun. We caught 3 fun waves , what a blast !

I had a great time, my first time ever surfing. Instructor Matt was extremely encouraging, helpful, kind, and skilled. The location was nice and gentle for newbies. Matt let me in on the decision making (how does this wave look? do you need to catch your breath for a bit?). I recommend this surf "school", assuming the other instructors are similar to Matt.

The canoe ride was amazing. Incredible staff and awesome experience. Would recommend for everyone. A bit of work but so worth the effort. Experience something out of your comfort zone.

What a blessing to have found this surf school on our last morning in Waikiki. I stopped by to see about renting a surf board for my kids to play on, not knowing how to surf. Connor was at the desk & suggested a private surf lesson for both of my kids, age 9 & 12 at the same time. AMAZING! The instructors, Connor & Luke were so good with the kids, taught them about safety & how to get the best results. Within the first 15 minutes, both kids were standing up on their boards and actually surfing. My husband & I felt completely comfortable with the kids being out in ocean with these two because they kept a close eye on them & stayed nearby. The photographer (I’m so sorry, I didn’t get the young ladies name) was equally wonderful & got some really great photos and videos for us to bring home with us. VERY impressed with this awesome surf school!

Great service and a great place to relax by the pool with amazing views but you need to reserve ahead of time for the covered lounger or cabanas or pool side loungers at the Sheraton Waikiki. The cabanas are a great way to get shade when you need it but also a great for your own private space and also get bar and food service. You also get pool side bucket of treats when you rent the cabanas. Book online ahead of time. Love this place and the great service.

Recently, my grandmother passed away (RIP Grammies), and our family chose to do a burial at sea. Waikīkī Beach Services made the entire process truly special. John, in particular, was respectful and helpful, guiding us through every step. The experience was beautiful, and I can't recommend them enough if you're considering something similar for a loved one. On another note, they also rent out tons of beach equipment if you're just looking to enjoy the beach.

Easy and convenient online service to book poolside loungers at the Sheraton Waikiki. I utilized the service twice on my trip and will use again on future trips.

My family loves the outrigger canoe ride whenever they visit. I have to thank Miwa for assistance in booking my reservation, excellent customer service always. All the staff is exceptional and really see to the needs of my parents, the experience is great for people of all ages.

Okay, I'm SO conflicted about giving them 5 stars. Why you ask? Well... sadly I'm 100% they are racially discriminatory. Let me explain, I'm staying at the Waikiki Sheraton right? And prior to my trip I reserved a water lounger (that experience is the SOLE reason for the 5 stars, because what happened after was disappointing and sad). I didn't really worry about booking other days because I wanted to be spontaneous. Plus. I'm titanium elite so it comes with perks. Blah blah blah ... FANTASTIC service from Sierra (sp?) and John. Loved my experience in the water lounger (as per usual -- do it every year) ... fast forward Met lovely Australian mum and daughter blah blah blah they weren't even Marriott Bonvoy members (they are Hilton) but not only did they NOT reserve a lounger today (when I couldn't get one despite repeatedly inquiring) but got one BUT they also just informed me they have one reserved (circa 4p today!) for tomorrow. Despite my 5 star review, I will never use them again. And I'm unfollowing them on Instagram. Sadly, fair warning to Black people, they really just don't want our business.

Rented a lounge with umbrella at the infinity pool. So relaxing. It's adults only so noise level was down. The pool is amazing. I would definitely come back. There's drink and food service until 430 pm. Amazing

I've been coming to the Royal Hawaiian Waikiki beach services location to get surf lessons and beach chairs for years. This trip alone we booked 4 straight surf lessons which equals $265 a day plus we got beach chairs for ~$100 a day for two days. The Japanese lady, MAKI, who's been helping us for years WOULD NOT give us towels because we are not staying at the Royal Hawaiian. She seems like the "manager". We stayed at the hotel many times but this time we decided to stay at next door at Halekulani. We are spending over $1000 on surf lessons, over $450 on photos, and also paying money for beach chairs but we can't get a towel for the chair that's located in front of the hotel? The ridiculous part is we can get a beach towel after we surf. How does that make any sense? I could just take the towels given to me after surf to bring to the chairs. Do they think we want to steal a beach towel that thousands of people use? No. Please review how you treat PAYING customers. I repeat paying customers. If I'm spending money at your establishment, treat me with respect. Also, they leave piles of towels at the pool desk for anyone to grab. MAKI is fake nice and was super rude. This other person, Darron, never smiles and comes across extremely rude as well. He was the person that denied us towels first. I would arrive for my surf lessons and he just gives me the clip board to sign in without saying hello - not even a fake "good morning". These two humans makes waking up in paradise not so pleasant. They literally ruin my mood because I have to feel their negative energy. I've never had one bad customer service experience in Hawaii the past 6 years since coming to the Royal Hawaiian. I had 4 days straight of being forced to interact with them just because I wanted to surf here. Everyone else on staff has been incredibly nice like always. I got hit by a surfboard from one of their employees that were taking photos of us and Maki didn't even care. Too concerned with her clipboard. The beach services at the Royal Hawaiian is only good for people staying at the hotel. Otherwise, you are treated like third class citizens. I only go back because of the surf instructors. Waikiki has changed - last year the service was way better!

Great time at the Infinity pool. The guys at the desk were super nice to me. Will definitely reserve again. I reserved the pool edge chair and loved it.

Beware of this man! Do not rent from him! He runs the Waikiki Beach Services Activities & Rentals kiosk on the beach right in front of the Sheraton. We have a group of people and rented a couple of chairs. My young daughter and I were seated there when he came over and got incredibly belligerent with us - accused us of not being paying customers, of trying to ruin his business, etc. When I tried to explain that our group had rented these, he wouldn't listen - gave me no opportunity to call over one of our other group members to prove that we paid for the chairs, nothing. Literally was pulling chairs out from underneath us (my daughter is 3, there is no cause for that type of behavior towards a literal toddler). Absolutely horrendous behavior, does not care about his paying customers, just kept repeating "I'm tRyInG tO rUn A bUiSinEsS hErE!" Yea dude I know, we're paying customers of your business who you just screwed over lol. Made our whole afternoon such a poor experience. Do NOT engage with this sad, angry person, and absolutely do not give them your money or business.

Waikiki Beach Services is available online and at various huts on the beach, specifically in front of the Waikiki Sheraton and the Royal Hawaiian. They offer a variety of services from beach chair / umbrella rentals to surf lessons to equipment rentals (paddle boards, surf boards). It's much easier to reserve online otherwise the lines at the huts can be quite long - I saw people queuing up as early as 45 minutes before the huts open. We booked private surf lessons with Izah, though we didn't make a specific request. I would highly recommend Izah - we were both first time surfers and he made it so easy. We were able to get up and ride waves with ease from the very start of the lesson. He was great at making us feel comfortable in the water. Private lessons cost $120/hr, and it seems very worthwhile to have the extra attention. At the Royal Hawaiian location, there is a photographer / videographer who takes footage of the lesson while you're out there. You can view it directly after your lesson and determine if you want to buy it, but it's pricey - $50 for either photos or videos or $80 for both. But if you're like me and unlikely to surf again, the photos are worth it. I would encourage you to book lessons and umbrella/chair rentals in advance of your vacation since they book up quickly.

We rented Luxury Cabana #6 at the Sheraton Waikiki for our 35th Anniversary and were somewhat disappointed with it. While the cabana itself and the views from it were very nice, the inattentiveness of the staff was glaring. The information on the website indicated that juices, water and snacks were included in the substantial price, however, they neglected to point out that it consisted of two 12oz cans of juices, 2 small cartons of water, one small bag of taro chips, and one small bags of cookies.... in a plastic bucket with ice. Only when we asked for some more juice did we find out that what we initially received was it... that's all!... no more! I even had to wave the attendant over to us to get some more ice in our bucket! Not once did they come over to ask if we needed anything. Needless to say it was a very disappointing experience, and one that I would NOT recommend! The cost is way too much for what you receive.

Burial At Sea So this is probably a different review than most. We booked Waikiki Beach Services for a burial at sea. My husband and I were very pleased with the entire experience. The staff were all friendly, nice, and helpful from check-in to completion. We row out about 300 yards in a canoe. Russell patiently explained the entire process to us. They were well prepared. We got to row also, which was very fun. Kai was one of our oarsmen, and was very patient and kind when helping. In addition to rowing, Aaron was the on-board photographer. He did a fabulous job with the pictures, capturing all the moments we would have wanted. And the pictures were part of the package, a welcome surprise. If you're looking for a short, to-the-point, yet still respectful, burial at sea, I would highly recommend Waikiki Beach Services. I see that that is not their primary service, but my husband and I both thought they did a great job.

Pretty straightforward online booking for the lounge chairs and cabana. Make sure to book weeks in advance for the Sheraton Waikiki location coz of the high demand (it's easy to cancel anyway). When we arrived at 9am, they marked us off a list and escorted us to the cabana with multiple fresh towels. The young guys and gals are pretty efficient with checking constantly if the right person on the list is in the correct chair/cabana. There is also a side table for drinks and food. Lounge chair is aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly. Will book them again when we plan our return to Sheraton (beautiful property - I have a separate review for it)

I took my first surf lesson ever today! I read the information and was a little apprehensive that I would be able to do it. For reference, I'm 40 years-old, a recreational runner, but lack balance and coordination. I decided to go for it! I signed-up for the group class at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. There were 4 others in the class. Our instructor (Evan) was very professional, personable, and encouraging. We spent about 20-30 min on the beach going over safety information, learning terminology, wind and surfing directions, and the fundamentals of how to surf. After this portion, we took a quick water break and regrouped to paddle out. Paddling is hard, but Evan was helpful and encouraging. When it is your turn he takes the student out into the wave pushes you in with words of encouragement. I caught my first wave! I would highly recommend this if you have ever considered learning to surf! Helpful tips: There is a locked box to stash your personal items. If you don't wear a long sleeve shirt, there are rash guards available to borrow.

I bought 2 cabanas. no where did it say there would be obstructed views. I literally sat behind a chair with a tarp and my other cabana was stuck in the corner. I wish it was in the description when you purchase because I paid full price but didn't receive the same view as the others.

We were very impressed with the experience we had on a canoe surfing adventure with the Waikiki Beach Crew at the Royal Hawaiian! They customized it to just the two of us and a few of their crew jumped in to help paddle out and catch surf! The ride was amazing and we caught waves right alongside surfers and a photographer. We would highly recommend this for a quick peek at what Waikiki is all about!

We had a wonderful day in the cabana. sitting right at the edge of the infinity pool was the best. The staff was very attentive as well. Highly recommend.

Waikiki Beach Services was the perfect choice for the burial at sea for my dad, grandmother, aunt, and two uncles. I had to reschedule a few times over the past couple of years due to the pandemic, but Waikiki Beach Services made it so easy! Not only was the ceremony simple and perfect (despite slightly choppy waters), and exactly what my dad would have wanted, they also included snapshots from the ceremony, which they provided to me on a USB drive. I was able to view the photos today as I've only just arrived back home in NYC, and I am so happy and grateful to have these memories captured from their beautiful send-off. I haven't arrived yet but I had to leave a positive review for Miwa O. With Waikiki Beach Services. She helped me reserve two sets of lounge chairs + umbrellas for my visit next weekend during my upcoming stay at the Royal Hawaiian. At first I was really frustrated that all of the Royal Hawaiian's beach chairs were already reserved over a month before my trip but because I am an Ambassador level with the Marriott Bonvoy program they connected me with Miwa at Waikiki Beach Services. Beyond setting me up with the lounge chairs + umbrellas reservation she provided me with a wealth of information about Oahu, really going above and beyond. I was touched by her thoughtfulness-- she has been the most helpful person I've interacted with for planning this upcoming trip.

Super helpful and friendly. We rented a floating raft and snorkeling equipment from them. It was really quick and we were ready to go. It was a lot of fun in the sun.

Today is my birthday and I thought it would be a great idea to go canoeing. It's not as easy as I thought it would be, but I am looking forward to doing it on my 57th birthday. I'd rather somebody else in control of the boat instead of me! Lol!

If you want to surf at the best beach in the world with the most ideal beginner waves (and warm, clear water) -- this is the spot! I've taken a number of lessons from surf instructor Izah at Waikiki Beach Services and he is very experienced and knowledgeable. I've definitely improved and learned so much during my lessons. (He even offers some very useful tips that I can use if / when I get the chance to surf in other places). It's so fun to surf on those long, rolling waves! I've had excellent experiences with Waikiki Beach services overall. I've met a few of the other instructors and they are all encouraging and incredibly experienced as well! Also - it's important to note that they offer towels here for students after the lesson (most other surf schools don't). They also have a nice shady spot on the beach with chairs and umbrellas where you can wait for your lesson (or your friends / family can hang out while you are in the water). Another added bonus!

The crew from WBS were so helpful and friendly to my wife, I, and our friends who were visiting Waikiki for the first time. They setup chairs and umbrellas for us and were all just cheerful and welcoming. I would highly recommend WBS if your taking your first lessons in surfing as well. I had my very first standup paddling lesson with their staff and had a great time. They were patient and encouraging. I also had a chance to catch some waves in their Outrigger canoe which is so much fun. Highly recommend Waikiki Beach Services if you're going to be on Waikiki beach and want to relax or learn to surf in style.

My grandchildren 9 & 10 took a 1 on 1 surf lesson. They had a great time. by the end of the hour they both were able to stand and ride a few wave on the board. The guys helping them were awesome and worked well teaching kids. Highly recommend using them if you want surf lessons.

Ended up visiting Waikiki Beach services twice during our stay in Honolulu. Great instructors (Aaron is awesome!) and lots of fun catching some first time waves. Would easily give 5 stars however they only have one photo package option of $100 and no guarantee on how many photos are usable but they will let you take a quick look at some of them to help you decide. Overall recommend!

My daughter wanted to go surfing and what's more epic than surfing in Hawaii? Of course, my 15 yr old daughter wanted to just grab a board and had to talk her in to a surfing class - so glad we did. After doing some research on yelp & a recommendation from a surfboard rental place, we decided on Waikiki Beach Services. The instructor gives a 15-20 minute demonstration on the beach that is vital to your success out on the water if You have never been surfing. The instructor was awesome. He was very (very) patient with my daughter training her on her form and genuinely cared about her having a good surfing experience out on the water. After falling in her face (literally) the first few times, she caught some waves and can proudly say she surfed in Hawaii. The photographer took some great pics and video of us both surfing the waves. Can't give the instructor enough credit for the fun and excitement my daughter had hitting the waves and surfing for her first time.

***************** REVIEW 404 ****************** I've been with this Wakiki Beach Services since 2006. They offer canoeing, surf lesson, and much more. Right in front of Duke's restaurant by the light guard house. These local guys are nice and funny. It's only $10 for Paddle Canoeing with them, you got 2 rounds to the ocean & back. They made you paddle bad when less people. They yelled you left, change, right & stop. It's a light good upper boy work out for sure. They will try to sell you the CD film for $20, not the best quality, an don't let you bring your camera on the canoe! Oh, you got to run over the beginner surfers which was fun too!

Learn how to surf in less that an hour. I'm not saying that you will be surfing the North shore after an hour, however you might be rippin a 2 or 4ft swell fo sho! The beach boys are amazing! They will train any level. Plus if you are really feeling like you're getting it, you can rent a board for the day too!

Mitch was so friendly and flexible! Helped us get in and out of the floating bike. Had a great time on the water.

We went to Waikiki Beach Services at The Sheraton Waikiki Beach 2255 Kalakaua Ave. It was next to the Halekulani. They where very nice. Especially Brandon. Although since we really didn't know what we where doing we would have liked them to ask if we needed some help. After a rocky start we had a GREAT TIME!

These men and women are incredible. My son got hurt paddle boarding and they were super helpful getting us help. Also, their spirit and attitudes are infectious. We were trying to move our umbrella a bit and not 30 seconds passed before one came over to help.

Amazing! We enrolled our kids (5 and 7) in one hour private surf lessons through WBS - and we were so impressed at the professionalism and enthusiasm of the instructors. Both of our kids not only loved the class, but they were both on their feet and surfing within 30 Mins of starting! Even better, the WBS photo service (Josh!) was there to capture it all. We have great video and photos of our kiddos doing amazing things. I'd recommend this to anyone!

I took my first surfing lesson today with Izza. Amazing instructor! I was thinking about taking a lesson but I wasn't sure; however, i saw him with another student and i liked the way he was doing things. I don't regret it , i had a blast!

I got an early surfing lesson with Mason and he was a fantastic instructor. He's a local so surfing was in his blood and he's a humble patient instructor. He took his time to show me how to SLOWLY place my feet up and after 4 times of failing, I finally got the hang of it. I highly recommend using these guys for surf lessons if you're a beginner like me

As a full group of seven, we took out an outrigger canoe. At first the ride a few hundred yards out seemed underwhelming, but then we caught our first wave back into the shore. The person behind me, a bit of a tough nut, exclaimed, "OK, that was pretty awesome". We went back out to catch a second wave and the captain starts saying, "Oh shit, we gotta move people". At the time I just chalked it up to theatrics. We starting riding the wave back in again like the first time, but this time the colossal wave engulfed our canoe and we sank! Now, the canoes are made of fiber glass so the still float just below the water. It was a tough ride in, but everyone enjoyed the adrenalin rush. Tip: don't sit in the very back, you will be asked to bail water.

My group of friends and I did Outrigger here with Waikiki Beach Services and we had an amazing experience! We arrived at their booth, checked in and were immediately given instructions and some brief info about the agenda. So my group of friends are really competitive, so we were separated into two groups - since each outrigger can only have 5 passengers I believe. There were two instructors per outrigger, and we compete among each other on which team will catch a bigger wave or row faster. While we were out on the water, we also have a photographer that were taking pictures of us to capture these fun times. What's really cool was that we also get a CD of photos given to us for free! It was really fun.

Employees here are rude and unhelpful! Also the place is difficult to find. It is actually located on the corner of the Royal Hawaiian Pool. Will never return, and ruined my experience renting from them.

We used this company for the group outrigger canoe excursion . The guys at the desk were a bunch of young punks with attitude . I hope they don't work on commission ... Anyway, the photographer was kind ,sweet ,and endearing . He introduced himself beforehand and chatted us up a bit. The captain(?) was professional and to the point. I think he overheard us talking about how I was a little uneasy with the activity, so he promptly put me in front of the canoe ! All my doubts slipped away as we headed out to the ocean .The captain steered us in the right direction and shouted out commands. Even though the water was calm we managed to "catch" a few small waves. We saw a giant sea turtle swim by us, which was the highlight of the trip. The views of Waikiki and Diamond Head were phenomenal . We laughed ,got wet ,and had an experience we won't soon forget . This was part of our following in the steps of The Brady Bunch adventure . My review is only about: Scattering of Ashes at Sea Waikiki Beach Services made it possible for me to arrange and conduct a simple, but beautiful and dignified ash scattering off of Waikiki. They operate out of a concession at the Royal Hawaiian (the Pink Hotel), but dont let that mislead you. The whole affair was handled with mindful soulful beach boys...dignity and Aloha ..... It was permeated by a gentle magic...one of the paddlers mentioned their ancestor and the good company my relative would have in this locale....we actually caught a long wave on the way back to shore. The owner, the staff and the beach boys were all experienced on the beach and in the ocean, they were also very warm and kind. In my case, we used an outrigger canoe and I helped row...but many options are available for any kind of customization you may prefer (including staying on land). I chose Waikiki Beach Services after contacting a number of businesses run by Cap't Dis n Dat, who just didn't feel right...I couldn't risk a mortified angry ancestor returning amid flaming pupus, and preachy platitudes!

We booked an outrigger canoe ride with Waikiki Beach Services. We had fun, I would probably do it again with them. Its a little hard to figure out where their tent is. We were being sent a million different directions. We had issue beforehand with our rental car that was going to make us miss our 3pm appt so I called and they were super helpful and pushed the appt back 30min. The only thing I wasn't super happy about was that the online website says that we dont have to worry about riding with strangers. "Exclusive ride for your group only - Don't worry about riding with strangers." this wasn't the case, when we were getting ready to leave the captain invited two people off the beach that i'm assuming he knew. since it was only my fiance and I, I guessed that it would be easier with two other people so I didn't complain. But it would of been better of the two older ladies that got on weren't so snooty with their noses high in the air. It kind of killed my mood, especially after trying to make conversation and being shot down. We caught two waves which was a lot of fun and the pictures they gave us were decent. The Captain himself was super nice and so was the other guy that was helping him I would book again with them but only if I had a bigger group that way I don't have to worry about random beezys acting like they own the world. :D

WAIKIKI Beach Services is a must when in Waikiki. The beach boys will teach you everything you need to know to be safe and have a blast while learning to surf. Counting the days until I go back to Hawaii so I can visit their awesome staff and make some more memories in the surf!!
