Google
Wakaba would be a good spot to grab some sushi in terminal D except that there really isn’t any place to sit. For premade sushi, it’s reasonably good although at an airport premium price. They do have a large selection of sake, and it was not crowded.

Google
I had to come back after it left such a good impression on me the first time. The soup for the beef udon was freaking delicious like I remembered it. It is so satisfying and does not disappoint. The beef was good but I wish it had more flavor. The beef curry is still as good as I remember it. I'm not sured what happened but there was a random piece of chicken in it --- The udon noodle with shrimp tempura was freaking delicious. The udon noodle came out pipping hot but it was so good, I couldn't stop eating even though I was sweating like crazy and burnt my tongue every time I took a sip of the soup. The shrimp tempura was oily and was more of a side dish. The beef curry rice was also freaking delicious even when it was cold. The curry was full of flavor and the giant pieces of carrot and potato were nice. I wish I could have tried it when it was hot but I was too full after eating the udon noodles.

Google
Fantastic bento box! I asked to substitute the chicken, and they happily offered two shrimp tempuras instead—delicious and perfectly cooked. The rice was spot-on—fluffy, and clearly they knew how to cook rice. Service was fast and thoughtful, with both a spoon and chopsticks, plus napkins provided without needing to ask. Seating was easy to find, and the location couldn’t be more convenient—right in front of Gate D10 in Terminal 2. Highly recommend for a quick, satisfying meal at the airport!

Google
I really enjoyed Wakaba's Ramen. It was very colorful and delicious to the taste. I felt it was a good quantity for the price and location. I would definitely go to terminal 2 to eat there again.

Daevid Vincent

Google
The teriyaki bowl is it's pretty hefty and at $14 not unreasonable price (for airports even). Would be nice if served in some kind of to-go package as it's that big you'd probably want to eat half in one sitting. Even more cost effective if you split it with someone. Very tasty and fresh too. Service was surprisingly fast. The utensils are.... odd... these flat wooden things. They work okay but are more obnoxious. Overall solid dining choice and I recommend 👌

Google
Decent tempura udon and ramen! Better than expected airport food and will most probably eat here again if we are in the same terminal.

Li K

Google
I showed up for my flight VERY hung over and so a nice bowl of soup sounded like a good idea. The broth was tasty, as were the noodles and meat. Otherwise it was crappy and way overpriced at $18.

Sarah Barradas

Google
The deluxe udon was delicious! And you can order it to go and it's an easy meal on the plane! I wish they had a Wakaba at every airport this would be my go to for sure. Great portion size as well and fast service !

Yelp
Like most reviewers before me have said, this is a solid food stall option. I got the Beef Curry & Rice and was happy with the choice. It was ready in 2 minutes, was hot, and came with disposable wooden utensils. It's not the best Curry I've ever eaten but it's delicious for what you can get at an airport. It's a pretty good portion too. Especially when you compare it to the portions in the rest of the bay. There's a few things that could be better about it. More variety of vegetables besides potato would be nice. Also some picked sides, since I got a little bored halfway through it. And because it comes in a paper bowl, some of the rice sticks to the side and pulls off some paper. Other eaters at the tables got the sushi or noodles dishes and seemed to enjoy them. I'll probably also give those options a try the next time I'm in terminal 2.

Yelp
Solid place for a quick pre-flight lunch at SFO terminal 2 food court at the far end of the D gates. I stopped by earlier this afternoon and got a spicy chicken bowl and a miso soup. The chicken was medium spicy and passed muster, but the miso soup was delish! Service was friendly and the efficient. Tables were clean. Bill was $22.75 after tax, airport surcharges and tip. Will be back for more of that delicious miso soup!

Yelp
Food was better than most airport food I've had and worth the price. The premade sushi was fresh. Beef Udon was filling and a good portion. I flew on Christmas Day, so the service was quick as the airport was not at all busy. There were plenty of tables and seating, but of course I'm sure it would be packed any other day.

Yelp
Quick and easy to go food. Got the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl for my son. He said it was not bad. It is the same company as Sankaku Sushi & Noodle. $13.95 with a 5% employee benefit surcharge bringing the total bill of $16.02. Not too bad, reasonable pricing for airport price.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered the bento box, which can run you about $20, but the portion was pretty large! Could definitely share the bento box if you're not that hungry. You do get a variety of food items in your bento box, but I would ask for the sauce to be on the side, because they put too much teriyaki sauce on the chicken. It's too much in my opinion. They were pretty quick to get this out to me, so I didn't have to worry about waiting long before my flight.

Yelp
This location is tucked in the D Gates of San Francisco International Airport. Taste is not bad although not authentic as expected. There's quite a bit of ingredients - menma, seaweed, 3-4 pcs of char siu and 3 slices of narutomaki. Price is quite decent for a bowl of ramen noodles. What's surprising is even a small stall like this charges 5% Employee Benefit Surcharge! Although it's a mere $0.75 on my bill, it is still a 5% and that's exorbitantly high. There are tables nearby that's shared with other stalls. Service is not extraordinary, just right.

Yelp
Wandered around checking out my options for food at the SFO airport and decided I wanted something soupy. After looking at the menu thoroughly, I opted for the ramen which was just what I needed after a long work trip. The ramen came with a bunch of seaweed, green onions, bamboo shoots and three big pieces of cha siu. The broth was perfectly salted and noodles were a great texture. What I really enjoyed was definitely the big pieces of meat it came with as it was a great texture and the topping to noodle ratio was perfect. Definitely a great option if you're needing some soul food/ something that is healing and warm to the stomach. They also had a large menu with items like sushi as well. A great place for food if you're in the SF airport.

Yelp
Pluses: The food was fast, filling, and inexpensive relative to other airport fare. Minuses: My entree (teriyaki chicken bowl) was very clearly a stack of rice, then (not particularly high quality) chicken chunks, then mixed vegetable medley (as seen in the freezer of your local grocery), then some teriyaki sauce. It did not look like what was pictured on the menu... Overall, this was not bad, but I would not eat here again.
google avatar

Yelp
Not a bad meal in the airport before flying to San Diego - seating was very tight with the unusual chairs - people were making friends trying to get out and trying to let others out - but thee wasn't a lot of seating outside of this establishment so we also made friends and sat immediately next to some other people - COVID hadn't resurfaced so much at that point lol - this was in July - my kid said that the curry "wasn't bad" which for him is definitely saying it was good. My other kid had the teriyaki chicen which he devoured. I had the mmm maybe dragon roll? well it had different types of sushi on top of a california roll -
google avatar

Yelp
Great comfort food and fast service. Got beef curry bowl and it's hitting the spot after brunching this morning. Ample meat; good balance of rice and sauce. Will repeat in future.
google avatar

Carmela G.

Yelp
We got the ramen here. Soup is just like water added to soy sauce. Meat was good and I gave it 3 stars even if it's not that great because there's lots of seaweed in my soup. I guess I get the veggies I need even when traveling. Better that the other airport food close to it.
google avatar

Therese B.

Yelp
A staple for me when Im flying back to Vegas from the SFO airport. The soup is hearty and delicious. Food came out fast. Only complaint was the utensils but probably a California thing for the wooden forks and spoons.
google avatar

Yelp
Super unfriendly un happy attitude cashier woman Sushi's not cheap I wish cashier woman just smile & say thank you to customer is better If she's not happy to work Find other job
google avatar

Rob B.

Yelp
It's pretty good sushi considering it's at an airport. I've had it a couple times over the years when I've had layovers in SFO while flying in or out of LAX. The quality of the nigiri is fairly good and the rolls are tasty. The employees are friendly, the atmosphere in this terminal is great, and the prices are good. I always grab mine and head over to my check in area and enjoy. If you like sushi, rolls, or sashimi this is a pretty good choice if you have a layover or are flying out of SFO Terminal 2.
google avatar

Myrna S.

Yelp
First off, the service was awesome; the cashier lady and the lady who gave us our food were super nice and pleasant. The kiosk was clean and inviting, and there was a variety of entrees to choose from. We got one of the prepackaged sushi packs and order a salmon bento bowl plus picked up a couple of pre-packaged vanilla and chocolate Hokaido milk bread. The prepackaged sushi was bland (I don't know, maybe we should have ordered it fresh like the bento bowl; lesson learned), the salmon bowl was good and the milk bread were tasty but nothing special about it. Overall, our experience was just okay and I'm trying not to be too negative because the service was great but the food I can pass on next I fly through San Francisco.
google avatar

Joey T.

Yelp
I fly weekly and connect a lot in SFO with a decent length layover. Sometimes you get tired of the usual sandwich or burger. Wakaba isn't Japanese food that's going to blow your socks off. With that being said, their tempura soba is solid bowl of noodles. The tempura soba comes out piping hot with a good portion of soba noodles, scallion, wakame, kamaboko and two pieces of shrimp. The taste is pretty good for food court food and is always a top pick in terminal 2. Unfortunately, I can't speak for the sushi or other bowls as they do not look interesting to me. I did see some airport employees order a bento which looked pretty good. I may have to order one for the plane next time.
google avatar

Elton S.

Yelp
Dragon roll sushi was not up to snuff and ended up sitting out too long, of which ended inside me, then out the same way hours later (yes, I threw up). I should've known better considering the time (past 9 pm), but a real sushi restaurant (even supermarket) knows better than to keep premade options on the shelf after 5 pm. Life lesson, but apparently this restaurant has no problem being involved in your bad experiences. Save your money for a bar where it's made in front of you.
google avatar

Abdul S.

Yelp
Not much expected from sushi bought at an airport, but it did the job. You can expect hefty prices on the sushi options which don't taste nor look the freshest. Service is quick and easy with plenty of seating for dining.
google avatar

Sharon H.

Yelp
I ordered the chicken teriyaki and it was surprisingly good for airport food! The chicken wasn't dry and there was a good amount of teriyaki sauce. There was also a lot more chicken/big chunks of chicken than expected! The serving size was a lot more than I expected too. For once airport food is not too overpriced. No complaints about the service because there wasn't much interaction besides ordering the food. Ambiance is just airport vibes.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
I stopped in here for my flight and selected the California roll and (4) salmon nigiri sushi. The salmon itself was cut fairly thin. Flavor was average. The California rolls had a surprising amount of imitation crab that made the 6 piece order quite good. What made the review negative is that I found a 1 inch bone in my salmon. I brought this to their attention and there was no response. So, order the California rolls and stay away from the salmon or be prepared and forewarned.
google avatar

Kim L.

Yelp
This is my favorite place in SFO Terminal 2. Good price, good taste, lasts on the plane. I always get one of the rice bowls whether it's the curry bowl or the beef bowl. Overall, not the best food in the world but the best bang for your buck in an airport and better than airplane food any day! The folks get you your food fairly quickly (despite the lines) and they pack it pretty nicely for it to be to go. All in all, I think this should be rated appropriately for an airport terminal (Post-Security) food and this is one of my favorite spots to go. Consistent, tasty, and affordable. Will always come back!
google avatar

Rochelle 'Shella' T.

Yelp
This is a good place to have a good meal at the SFO Terminal 2. It's reasonably-priced, relative to airport food court rate. The food is good: tasty, big serving, and good value It cannot beat the good Japanese food around San Francisco or the Bay Area. But within the airport, this is one of the places I diay Ly go to. My kids love their Unagi/dragon roll. They're very efficient with orders. The staff are friendly and efficient. Try their pre-made tools and salads or have a warm dish from the kitchen.
google avatar

Laura F.

Yelp
This is definitely the go-to spot on this side of the airport. The food is really fresh, lots of seafood and the sushi was good. Our order was ready quick and they have meals ready to eat. There is also plenty of seating on the side of the restaurant.
google avatar

Caroline W.

Yelp
3.5 stars! I was pleasantly surprised by the salmon bowl and miso soup I had at Wakaba. There was a LOT of salmon on the bowl and it was seasoned very well. The sear was perfect, with a crispy exterior and a juicy center. That said, there was also a significant amount of rice and there was no sauce on the salmon or rice. I asked for soy sauce and was given 2 packets, but honestly it was still underwhelming in flavor. Even a small drizzle of any sauce would have helped a lot. The layout of ordering and pickup was also a bit awkward, I think more obvious signage would help clarify where to pick up the order vs where to order. Overall I'd likely try other options next time, given the number of restaurants represented at SFO.
google avatar

Hugh D.

Yelp
One of the things I look forward to when I have a chance to fly out of terminal 2 at SFO. Wakaba has a variety of Japanese dishes, I have personally only ever tried the tempura udon so your results may vary. but I've found the small food court spot in the middle of terminal 2 to have pretty satisfying Udon. The food came out quickly, which great cuz I only had 20 minutes. The udon noodles were meaty, the soup was cozy and simple and the fried shrimp hit the spot. I feel like for options you have at an airport, this is what you want before a long flight. The portion left me feeling full, and the price was about on par with other entrees around SFO restaurants.
google avatar

Raphael M.

Yelp
Food very below standard for the price. Both the teriyaki bowl and beef bowl lacked flavor and texture. Yoshinoya way better for the price. The food service could use a more cheerful person at the register. She had a grumpy cat look to her. Needs to improve on customer service.
google avatar

Falisha R.

Yelp
Yikes ! I would not recommend this place. The seaweed and the fish sauce is overwhelming and made me feel sick. I got a chicken noodle so I did not expect any type of fish taste at all because I don't like it and they didn't even warn me and it was pricey.
google avatar

Margaret S.

Yelp
Extremely disappointing. Poorly prepared. Sloppy. Overwhelmingly gross ingredients including frozen budget veggies and bones in the chicken. Rude service.
google avatar

Adrian R.

Yelp
ALL AREAS ARE REVIEWED 1-5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Parking- since the restaurant is in Terminal 2 of San Francisco Airport I'll say that parking is an n/a. Seating-4-Lots of seating but lots of people sitting. There can always be more at an airport but I am always able to find a seat. Booth, table, and bar height could yet seating available. Wait staff-5-the lady that took my order was very pleasant. Speed of Service-5+- wow, by the time I rounded the corner my food was ready!! Food-5-I always get the beef and rice bowl, super simple and super good. Ambiance-4-for an airport it's pretty quiet which is always surprising. Price-5-again, for an airport meal it's pretty consistent with the other restaurants. My beef bowl and metal bottle of water (20 oz.) was $22.05 with tax. You get a good sized bowl of food and the metal bottle is reusable. Overall-5-my favorite place to eat in the airport, it's adjacent to D gates and always open Shout out-just good food!
google avatar

Tiffany V.

Yelp
I was looking at all the different options in Terminal 2 & decided on this place since it's one of the very few with Asian food. I got the tempura udon and it was very filling. The broth was salty but for airport food it was better than I expected. It was made to order and the two shrimp tempura it came with were pretty good. $14.95 + 5% SF employee healthcare charge + tax + not including tip ~$17.
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
4 stars within the airport, 2 stars outside of the airport Averages out to be a 3 stars rating. Within terminal 2, this is the only Asian food you can find. Most of the other restaurants offers cold or hot sandwiches or prepackaged salads. It's also good that they offer both a quick option (prepackaged sushi rolls) or a hot option (hot rice or noodle bowls) If speaking within the whole Bay Area, the food is definitely below average for a $18 sushi platter or a $15 dragon roll. Lower the expectations for airport food.
google avatar

jenny t.

Yelp
Comparable to ramen outside the airport. Located in the Alaska D gate area. Delicious and fulfilling ramen. Decently priced with good amount of toppings (seaweed, bamboo, pork slices). Would definitely be back for more when passing through here again! Best airport ramen, though it's the only airport ramen we had!
google avatar

Claire L.

Yelp
Note to Claire - don't come here again! Very mediocre ramen. I've had better ramen that came out of a vending machine. I've also tried the udon and it is as average as it can be. The tempura was also flavorless. My piece of chasu pork was decent. It gets the job done though!! If you're craving asian food, this would be your place to get it in SFO. They get the food ready fast and the line moves quick!
google avatar

Vuoch L.

Yelp
Inside SFO airport Terminal 2 , D gate 10-11 Hot noodle soups are not available for to go, dine in only . I had the pork char siu ramen and delux sushi , The sushi plate were fresh rice cooked perfectly. Ramen had an al dente bite , broth for me tasted slightly salty , not savory . Other then that soup was not bad , when I wanted soup and not some type of an American breakfast. Public Table and chairs available close proximity to the restaurant.
google avatar

Diana R.

Yelp
For the beef udon. Nothing special in terms of flavor but not a bad option if you want a bite to eat and it had plenty of meat and toppings. Came out super quick too.
google avatar

Alan C.

Yelp
Airport sushi runs a close second to gas station sushi when you want to have a critical eye and consider the risk:benefit ratio carefully. I was catching an early Sunday AM flight to Philly from sfo and didn't have time to eat at home and looking down the barrel of a 6+ hour flight then hotel travel I figured I needed something and this seemed like a healthy alternative. I got the shashimi plate which was $20 before taxes and fees and was handed a tiny container with 10 pieces of fish. The tuna had been cut so that it was against the grain and had three layers of chewy tendon running through it making it impossible to bite into without fishy dental floss catching in my teeth. Not even remotely professionally sliced and very disappointing. The salmon and white fish were standard thin cuts and fine. Not sure I'll be rushing back. Perhaps a breakfast burrito next trip out of terminal 2 ?
google avatar

Jack R.

Yelp
Sashimi, spicy tuna, and gyoza all in to-go packages. Is it convenient? Yes. Is it average? Yes. There's nothing special here, but what I don't like is that the rice is cold and hard since it's been sitting for awhile which is never a good thing with sushi...

FJ S.

Yelp
Contracted a severe case of food poisoning after eating a shrimp tempura udon soup at Wakaba (Terminal 2) on Monday afternoon 11-11-2024, a food selection considered relatively safe. Reported the issue to the airport, however I would stay clear of this restaurant.
google avatar

M F.

Yelp
I travel thru this terminal twice a month and always stop here for sushi. I've never been treated so rudely as I was today. Older lady with a short ugly haircut coughing all over the place barked at me to "you go get it yourself"before I could even finish my sentence. I stopped talking and just looked at her and she barked the same thing again. Unreal. No wonder the line was short today with a jerk like that working. Sandwich for me it is...
google avatar

mei s.

Yelp
cashier was rude and short with me :( i ordered the chicken teriyaki and it was so bad i couldn't even eat it. there was also lima beans in it?? do not go here!!

Diane K.

Yelp
Hit the spot while I was waiting for my flight. Food came out promptly and the staff was helpful when I asked about condiments. I got the tofu udon, and was pleasantly surprised by the flavorful broth and the generous portions of tofu, noodles, and kelp. I actually ended up having little bit left over, it was a lot of food. Definitely did the job of filling me up before my flight.
google avatar

Annie L.

Yelp
This place is in terminal 2. Not much options here and wanted some Asian food. Wakaba is just terrible. Like bad cafeteria food that you throw in a microwave to heat up. My bento box had salmon which was not seasoned well so you can taste it was extremely fishy. The teriyaki chicken didn't even have teriyaki sauce on it. It was large chicken breast pieces. Rough and tough and no flavor. I got a small bit of rice with a large orange slice. CA rolls was ok. My hubby couldn't finish his teriyaki bowl. Meat was too large and big and did not look appetizing at all. I would skip. There is Lark Creek grill, Andale Mexican, Peets and a burger joint around. I think any of those places would be better than here.
google avatar

Marisol P.

Yelp
Ordered the spicy tuna roll and salmon bowl. the salmon in the bowl was not freshly cooked, I could tell it was reheated and dry. The sushi roll they just grabbed what they had in the refrigerator, not freshly made either. The bowl was a Good size portion though.
google avatar

Austin H.

Yelp
Wakaba is a fantastic place to grab a bite if you want something before your flight in Terminal 2. My family and I got the Bento Box, Teriyaki Chicken Bowl, and Salmon Bowl. The bento box came with some salmon, chicken, California roll, and a seaweed salad. The salmon was cooked well, very moist and the sauce it came with was almost addicting. The chicken was moist with a nice char to it. For all intensive purposes, the salmon and chicken were the same in their respective bowls. With high priced competition, Wakaba's affordable offerings that give you your bang for your buck make it a worthwhile meal before your flights.
google avatar

Jillian L.

Yelp
In the airport at Terminal 2, between D gates. I got really good ramen from here when I waiting for my flight. The broth was well seasoned and there was lots of pork to eat. The food came out quickly, but there was no wait when I ordered. There is a 5% surcharge on your meal though, so FYI.
google avatar

S. H.

Yelp
Ordered the ramen and ca sushi roll. CA sushi roll was decent, though small. I'd give 4 stars. It's airport food, after all. But the ramen-whoever said it was comparable to ramen outside the airport obviously never had ramen outside the airport. It was decent for what it was. But the hard noodles and udon broth were disappointing and the meat was not great. I was hoping the food was better since there was such a long line for this place. But it's the same-airport food. I might drop by again should I want reasonably salty broth and okay ca rolls.
google avatar

Justine A.

Yelp
I can't lie, they gave me the wrong udon, but I like tofu so I didn't complain. It was light and delicious like I needed pre flight. They are the most reasonably priced in this terminal and probably the best food. Thanks for a treasure find!
google avatar

Erica C.

Yelp
For airport udon, this was pretty darn good. The noodles were chewy and the broth was pretty decent too. We had the tempura udon which comes with fish cake and two tempura shrimps. It was about $15 a bowl, so it wasn't too bad considering airport pricing. Service is quick and food comes out pretty fast as well if you're in a rush! Plenty of seating to sit down and eat too.

Fuxi V.

Yelp
We landed at 8:05pm and looked for something quick to eat. Came cross their store near Alaska airline. We ordered salmon bowl, beef curry and shrimp tempura udon. All tasted great and fresh. Very happy to go home with full stomachs!!
