Wake Forest University

I was an undergraduate here in the early 1960's and loved it. The teaching was extraordinary, the campus beautiful, and the arts programs were exceptional beyond belief. I was a student in hard sciences, and getting incubated in the arts has served me all my life. Likewise the requirements for breadth in education. The philosophy, history, languages I use every day. I learned to write, and that has been invaluable in my professional life. I ended up as a distinguished professor at the University of California, Davis and earned many honors in my scientific career, including the University Medal, the highest honor UC gives. I owe much of that success to the string background Wake Forest gave me. I am eternally grateful.

This is the most beautiful college campus! 😍 It has a lot of of greenery, beautiful brick buildings, open fields and it has plenty of handicap/stroller friendly access! Love it here

Cool place, they don’t allow umbrellas in the stadium though. Be sure to check the website for any restrictions for their events before walking up to the gate. Clear bag policy, too. Mascot is demon deacons.

Nice, beautiful campus. Excellent fine arts center with great production staff.

Wake Forest University has long since moved on from its reputation as a regional senior college affiliated with the Baptist church. Now a nationally prominent, comprehensive research university, Wake Forest is also no longer controlled by the Baptists. Things have moved on. Still quite conservative, this university is a diverse blend of liberal arts, sciences, and professional schools of engineering, business, law and medicine. There is also a thriving athletic program. The neo-Georgian campus is absolutely stunning and is an interesting counterpoint to Duke's academic neo-Gothic. Wake Forest is part of the unofficial Southern Ivy group that includes Duke, Rice, Vanderbilt, Tulane, Emory, SMU and Miami.

Just had a tour with my daughter. We were very impressed with everything, especially their support system, quality of education, and very safe for everyone.

Universities should be free of bias whether it's right or left. It should be a free thinking place and they try their damnedest to make the campus unfriendly to people who just want to learn.

We walked through campus today with my bf's kids and it's so beautiful and lush with trees and trails. It is a beautiful picturesque setting and Wake Forest owns tons of local properties like The Graymar hotel. The cafeteria is interesting and they have a few food stations and a healthy salad bar so the students don't gain the freshman 15. It's not as pretty as the Duke university campus but still holds its own.

We were riding around Wake Forest University woman in the area, exploring taking pictures doing what we do throwing up the hills for the Louisville Cardinals cause that's arrival and we said go karts anyway the university looks pretty cool

If it wasn't for Wake Forest, I probably wouldn't exist, so I give it five stars. :) Seriously though, my parents met at Wake. My dad was a resident at Bowman Gray (now Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center) and my mom was an undergrad. They married and settled in nearby High Point. Naturally, I grew up a diehard Wake Forest fan. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Wake. When it comes to my two favorite sports, basketball and golf, the Demon Deacons have a rich tradition. Tim Duncan, who played all four years and graduated from Wake with a degree in psychology, led the men's basketball team to back-to-back ACC championships in 1995 and 1996. Muggsy Bogues, the shortest player to ever play in the NBA at 5-foot-3, played for Wake. These days, perennial NBA All-Star Chris Paul is the best known Wake basketball alumni. We had season tickets to Wake men's basketball games at the Joel Coliseum. We'd drive from High Point to Winston to catch all the games. It was Tim Duncan and coach Dave Odom who drew me to the game of basketball and made me the fan of basketball that I am today. I love college basketball and the NBA, but I didn't really start following the NCAA and the NBA until I saw how the quiet and unassuming Tim Duncan dominated historical powerhouses like Duke and North Carolina on his way to becoming the No. 1 draft pick in 1997. Wake is a small private school, one of the smallest in NCAA Division I, yet they compete with the big boys. Since I typically like rooting for underdogs, this aspect drew me to the Deacs. I continued to cheer for the Deacs after Duncan's departure. I loved the 1999-2000 team, led by Robert O'Kelley, that won the 2000 NIT championship. I even went to the bookstore to buy an NIT champions T-shirt. I still have it among my stacks of Wake apparel, programs, and other merchandise. I also enjoyed listening on the radio to Stan Cotten and Mark Freidinger ("The Dinger"). The best golfer to play for Wake was none other than The King, Arnold Palmer. Other notable alumni include Curtis Strange, Darren Clarke, Lanny Wadkins, Jay and Bill Haas, Webb Simpson, Len Mattiace, and Billy Andrade. I saw a documentary about Arnold Palmer on Golf Channel. In it, they discussed his collegiate career at Wake and showed a clip from the unveiling of the Arnold Palmer statue at Wake's golf practice facility, now known as the Arnold Palmer Golf Complex. Arnie was there for the unveiling. When I saw the statue on TV, I just knew I had to visit it in person (and I did). Throughout the years, I've been able to meet a lot of these guys including Tim, coach Odom, Stan, Mark, and Bill Haas. In high school, I considered applying to Wake, but in the end, it wasn't an option since I wanted to go into engineering. It came down to Georgia Tech and NC State (I guess I couldn't leave the ACC). I chose Tech and the rest is history. It did take a good one to two years for me to convert from a Demon Deacons fan to a Yellow Jackets fan. While I bleed white and gold now, I'll always have fond memories of the old gold and black.

Simply the most magical place on earth! This is a place that is about community, strong values, and of course lots and lots of random fun. The alums go to bat for each other and the current students like no other place I have ever seen. People truly love the experience, the memories, and the place (even if there were bumps along the road in their journey). There is simply no place like Wake...

Here for a Symphony concert at Wait Chapel. This is a great place to see a concert. The acoustics are great. Parking can be hard to find so give yourself some extra time.

Beautiful campus! My boyfriend's alma matter. We came here for tennis matches and everyone on campus is extremely friendly and everything is super clean and organized. The campus is a little small but the buildings are all new and up to date.

The campus of Wake Forest University is beautiful. I walked around the main Reynold's campus as well as the Reynold's house and gardens. In some alternate universe, I would like to go to school here (noting that I am not a student or associate and thus have limited perception). Everyone I met was really friendly. I liked the fact that they had a welcome center for incoming students. I also liked the fact that the majority of incoming undergraduates live in on-campus housing which helps build the community among the undergrads. Wake Forest also has well respected graduate programs in Medicine, Business, Law, and Divinity - so maybe I don't have to go to an alternate universe to consider it. Although it is of course an expensive private university. Note = I have submitted a correction change to the address - the admissions office is located on Wake Forest Road not Drive. Also, of interest is that the different parts of the University (i.e. main campus, Medical school, Business school) are quite spread out in the Winston Salem area.

BEAUTIFUL campus! Great classes, but lots of crappy housing and hardly any space to park on campus. Lots of flaws, but an overall fantastic school in a very pretty place.

The campus is beautiful--there is no question about that. However, being a member of a minority group that is considering an application to Law School here, there are a few disconcerting things that should be described. First, there is a LOT of "old money" on this campus. I do realize that not every student here is wealthy, but there do represent the majority of students here. I truly wonder if they acknowledged the true origins of their wealth, would that change their "holier than thou" attitude? Just a little food for thought there. Next, there is a perception that somehow black students do not belong here. I don't know where this idea is coming from, but one would think a major University in a former Confederate state would be bending over backwards to diversify it's campus. Nonetheless, if I do decide to apply here with a competitive LSAT score and I'm not admitted, I would have a high index of suspicion for rogue play. That would lead me to possibly consulting with the Department of Education. We'll see what happens.

Gorgeous campus, incredible athletics programs, outstanding academics, and to top it all off one of the best bands in the ACC. It truly is an absolute gem of a school. Everyone was kind and welcoming, and the admissions staff was incredibly helpful. My only regret is that I can't give it more than 5 stars.
