I have been ordering from Walden for a couple of years now, and I love knowing that I am buying meat from animals that were raised properly, not in massive feed lots. The ability to not only have a repeating order but also add on specific items is fantastic. The sausages can run a bit salty for our taste, but the ham and bacon and other cuts have been great. Even offal like tongue is wonderful to be able to buy when we feel like it. You do have to plan your orders in advance if you want to add on something special, but it's worth it.

Google
I have been a customer since August of this year. My previous review was taken down. Same complaints. They gave me a credit but haven’t fixed the problems. As I have stated before have many issues that the quality and cuts of meat do not come close to the price they charge. I have been receiving some of the cheapest cuts of meats like roasts and shoulders in three shipments and charged over $234. The sizes and shapes are so inconsistent and small or are butchered very sloppy. I am constantly having to match up cuts of same meat to have enough for my family. The filets I received were two to a package and I received three packages in the one shipment. They weren’t rounded or in one piece. It looked like a dog chewed on it. The briskets; one was flat as a brisket should be and one cut as a corned beef. The portions were so small for my family of 6; The briskets were so off portioned I had to cook both and the amount of fat - left us with one serving each. I have called and spoke with customer service I have changed the selections I cannot take any more packages of 85% ground beef - 6 packages each time I can get that at my grocery store. For $234 or more a month just doesn’t add up. I left two messages and no one has gotten back to me. My share is on hold for now. Very upset very disappointed ☹️ and very dissatisfied 😡

I have on monthly order from Walden since 2016! Meat is always fresh, securely packed, never had any issues, excellent customer support, easy ordering online, bonus points for the dry ice bags & grocery bags that are recycled! Highly recommend Walen, buy local!!

Google
We have been participating in Walden Locals’ meat share for over a year now. We get a monthly delivery of Waldens custom choice locally sourced meat, eggs, and butter. They hand deliver our share fresh from their main location. Each cut of meat is labeled with the location it was sourced from, the type of cut, and weight in a vacuum sealed individual package. All of their products are from a farm within New England. Once you sign up you can choose from several different packages or you can custom your own based on what type of meat you want(cow, pig, chicken, lamb, etc) and what the cuts you prefer(ground beef, chops, roasts, etc). You also set your preferences based on the number of people your share will be feeding and they base the size/weight of the cuts on those specific preferences. You can change your preferences as well as frequency of deliveries at any time. You then receive your deliveries based on what is available that month and what you chose in your preferences. All their products are fresh, organic, and high quality. Your delivery comes in a cooler like bag that has dry ice to keep your meat frozen. Each month you place that bag out for the delivery person to pick up and use for future deliveries. Their customer service is top notch! Along with your share each month you also receive a recipe card with recipes specifically chosen for a cut that you receive that month. They send you a small binder with your first shipment that you can place all of your monthly recipe cards in for future use. We highly recommend Walden Local to anyone looking for quality(local)meat, dairy, seafood from a reliable source. Farm to fork At home deliveries take the stress and work out of meal prep & planning. Their prices are great and they are reliable and local.

I really enjoy the meat products they deliver right to my door. You never really know exactly what you'll get if you get a regular box. Sometimes it's more chicken, sometimes more beef etc. When their New York Strips come in, I can't wait to put them on the grill or reverse sear them.

Google
I'm on my second month of the meat share and am super happy I signed up. No gimmicks, just incredibly high quality meat shipped right to your front door frozen with dry ice. If you cook a lot, the ingredients make all the difference. The best part is that you can fully customize your share and select the cuts you want any given month... The first month I did a standard 20lbs share and got 4lbs of ground beef, so the next month I customized and chose to not get any more ground beef. At a little over $10/lb it's a little pricey, but such good quality and it feels good spring local farmers.

Google
You get what you pay for. Pastured, responsibly raised meat. I've been using walden for about a year now. Switched over from butcher box. Quality of meat doesn't compare. Wanted something more local as well. All meat is labeled. You know the farm it came from. Recently tried turkey for Thanksgiving. It was the best turkey I've ever tasted. So clean and fresh tasting. Cooked beautifully. We did some swanky stuff. It was fun. Pork chops (last photo) flavorful and cook so beautifully. Im big on eating cleanest pork available as its one of the worst raised meats in this country. Also the local cheese and grass fed butter ! Thanks walden for helping us feed our family the best.

Google
I’ve been a Walden customer for well over two years now and I love the service. I love the variety and control I actually have over the shares I receive and the ability to get hard to find cuts like beef tongue to make lengua tacos. :) Their transparency and is really comforting and I enjoy knowing the name and farm location that my shares come from.

Yelp
Walden local meat is a great source of quality meat and fish. The taste and nutritional value is better than anything you can get in a supermarket. I just cooked up a roast beef on my grill. It was tender enough to cut with a butter knife and the beefy taste was delicious.

Cat K.

Yelp
we've had their meat subscription for a few years now. after a health restriction we went half seafood for our family. the meat, eggs, butter, holiday orders are great. that said, over the past couple years, the fish is usually fine (watch out for pinbones), but I've had skate that made my lips puff at the first taste (spoiled!), another fish (sorry I forgot which kind) that was so fishy-stinky it was noticeable while still frozen in the vacuum pack, and most recently wormy monkfish. I get that using more local/small business means paying more and being more attuned to what you've recieved, but I'd rather not risk it for fish.

Yelp
I have tried to get behind this business but I stop when I see that the consumer doesn't get to choose the cuts of meat they buy, that you just have to take what they give you. The package plans all include some cheap cuts that my family would never eat. It's very pricey too. For people who want a grab bag of $$$ meat delivered to their door it probably works but I'd rather go to the store & choose what I want for a lower price. Changing my review because they do appear to have a bricks & mortar store in Boston + their customer service is very nice.

Yelp
If I could give 10 stars I would! What an amazing company! We didn't put in an order for Christmas this year because our plan was to travel to GA to be with family. But our entire family has ended up with Covid so we had to cancel our trip. Since we were staying home for Christmas we now need to make our own dinner. Since it's so late in the month we missed the window for ordering a ham so I called to see if I could maybe send someone to pick one up at the warehouse or something. Kelly answered the phone and was just an angel!! She not only acquired a ham for us but she is personally delivering it to our home!! I can't even believe it! I have been a member with Walden Local Meat for a few years now and our family won't ever go back to store bought! The food is better than any other source we have tried but now I can honestly say that the service is even better than the food!! Thank you Kelly and team for all you do for the community and for our family!!

Yelp
We have had two deliveries so far. Our household is trying to eat less meat, and, feels strongly about how an animal is raised before being processed for our table. The product is by far superior to a grocery store. Expensive but so far worth it. Customer service is great and I will update this review in the future.

Cristina C.

Yelp
We've been a member for several years. We love Walden Meat and feel good about supporting local farms.

Yelp
I have no idea what anyone giving a 5 star review is thinking, but these are most expensive and crappy steaks I've ever had.

Yelp
I love Walden! Once quarantine began back in the spring, a friend and fellow Yelper pointed me in the direction of Walden. She mentioned the high quality of the meat and all the great add-ons that are offered each month. I have now had six deliveries and have never had anything bad. Some items are better than others but everything is always delicious and fresh. The delivery people are great and have even gotten to know my dogs. The chicken livers are a monthly add-on for me since my pups love them as a treat. I love their variety of sausages and the ground meat is great for various dishes. Each month you never know what you're going to get but you do know how great it will be. I also love that you can add-on fish, organ meat, and even butter.

Yelp
I've been having meat delivery from Walden Meat for several months and love the service. I've opted to pay for leaner cuts but I've found the meat delicious and like supporting local farms. Plus now when I shop I only purchase whole grains and vegetables and seafood. I wish they had lamb delivery but I keep checking for the option. They also have great additional options like fermented pickled beets and dog treats. It feels right contributing to locally sourced meats. I'd love to find an organic farm share that allows me to choose my vegetables if you know of one send me a message. But if you want to try this delivery service you can't go wrong.

Yelp
Worth 10 stars I've been an early adopter with Walden meats. Their meat share is simply incredible. There is zero waste because all of the meat arrives frozen and you can thaw it when you want it. The thawed meat will be good in your refrigerator for 1 to 2 weeks so you can thaw a bunch of things but you don't have to feel like you have to use it right away. But convenience aside, the quality is simply outstanding, and the price is much better than buying grass fed or local at Whole Foods or other places like that. The taste of animals that have been kindly raised is so much better. Also the customer service is excellent, every time I have a question or an issue they resolve it quickly and they're extremely friendly. I'm so happy to have this opportunity to support local family farms and eat delicious food all at the same time! Thanks Walden!

Yelp
I started my Walden subscription in January 2020. Amazing timing given the way 2020 and 2021 have unfurled. Pro's - consistently good quality products; delivered in well packaged cooler by their own courteous and timely drivers. ALL OF THEIR SAUSAGES ARE DELICIOUS! Con's - it's pricier than other options, but that's not terribly surprising. Tip: I've migrated to a smaller base share with more individual add-ons. I feel that this gets me more specific items that we'd like to purchase while still supporting the whole animal approach Walden champions.

Zalenka S.

Yelp
Easy to order and trouble free deliveries. Extremely satisfied with selection of meats & fish. Love that the farm, farmer or fishmonger is noted on the labels.

Bryan B.

Yelp
Love Walden. We have been customers for about two years. Never had any problems with anything. The quality is excellent and sourced locally which we love. You can see exactly which farm/ fishing boat/ source each item comes from which is amazing and they offer more than just meat. The prices are fair and there is no charge for delivery. Couldn't be happier or more satisfied. Give them a try!

Yelp
We've been using Walden for meat delivery for a longgggg time - maybe 5 years or so based off of a recommendation from a coworker. The quality is A+ and we love knowing we're supporting a local business and regional farms. It's a win win! What prompted this review was the corned beef we received from Walden this past month LET ME TELL YOU IT BLEW MY MIND. Literally dreaming about next years corned beef already. Another thing I love about them is that they've been responsive and accommodating to requests that I've made to update my share. I was getting a cut that I really didn't love cooking with monthly and I requested to not include it anymore and they haven't. If you're on the fence about trying Walden I say definitely give them a shot!

Yelp
Love! Love! Love! everything about Walden Local Meat. Made Moroccan meatloaf using the ground lamb and was yummy! Full recipe on website. p.s. recipes card ideas are included with your monthly delivery Be well and stay curious, Lipstick Warriors

Yelp
We have been using Walden for the last year and things went well until this month when I received no notice about my share. Long story short, the computer system marked my March share as April so we didn't get an April share. Customer service was very slow and after three emails and a voicemail we received a very poorly written email and our share. The share we received was freezer burned and the least inspired one we have received, it was as if to make up for our missing share they cleaned out the freezer on us. I have been really happy with the service until now, going to give it another chance for now, but I hope this doesn't happen again.

Taylor K.

Yelp
We have been Walden customers for a couple years now and I am so happy with not only their products, but also their customer service. They are prompt, kind, helpful, and always deliver :) Do yourself a favor and give them a try! The blueberry breakfast sausage is delicious!

Linda C.

Yelp
I started out with a monthly delivery at the lowest amount and rate. However, as a single woman, I found switching to a quarterly delivery worked better: I get a greater variety of cuts. The one lb "steaks" of various cuts work great in a stir fry and who knew oven BBQ'd spare ribs are as good as those done on the grill.! Well, OK, grilling on a beautiful summer day beats sticking them in the oven but with no way to grill, I am just happy to be able to still enjoy a favorite cut of meat this way. The small beef roasts cooked low and slow come out delicious. While grass-fed beef does need a little more attention, the results are worth it. My latest delivery is full of good cuts perfect for me: two pork chops, two chicken breasts, sausage (all are yummy), ground beef, a one lb beef steak, and a small ham. That last cut is perfect for cooking in a New England boiled dinner with lots of potatoes, carrots and cabbage-- perfect fall meals will ensue!
google avatar

Lynne L.

Yelp
If you live in New England and you are looking for local, ethically raised, healthful grass-fed meats, check out this CSA. They deliver to your door or you can pick up your share in Burlington, MA. The meats are excellent. The farm source is identified for each cut. The variety is great - it's fun to open the share and dream up what meals can be made. If you visit the store, there's a case full of odds and ends, like marrow and knuckle bones, bacon, sausage, grass fed butter (which is amazing tasting), chicken livers, etc. Walden is very professional in their communication and delivery. A real pleasure to deal with.

Yelp
Man, what a disappointment. I signed up about 5-6 weeks ago and I was told there may be a week wait before being accepted, which I was totally fine with doing. What I wasn't told is once I would be accepted it would be a month before my first order came in. So my long-awaited first order finally arrived today and of the 10 lbs, about 8 lbs of it (!!!) were: 1) Ground beef (1 lb, which I knew I'd get and I'm okay with it. But this was followed by...) 2) Eye Round Roast (1.89 lbs) 3) Whole Chicken (3.15 lbs) 4) Beef Center-Cut Shank The other two lbs were chicken breast and a NY strip steak, which I was okay with. But two "quality" cuts out of a 10 lb, $134 bag. Wow. I mean, broken down by price, I paid $10.34 per pound for ground beef, a whole chicken, a roast, and a shank. I mean, seriously. Wow. I tried supporting the local guys, but back to Butcher Box I go. And before customer support says "you should have specified what you wanted"...I did. But I don't eat pork and you only let me specify sections of the cow that I could choose from...then proceeded to send me some of the worst cuts from those sections. It's been a long time since I've felt this ripped off and misled by a company. Totally shameful.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
I really was torn giving these guys a 3 star. There are a few reasons I would give them a 2 and some I would give them a 5. The good, They deliver in incredibly well packed containers and while all the meat is frozen, they really have nailed this. The meat they deliver is good quality and always tasty for what it is. The Bad, I am not sure if this company takes all the good cuts for themselves and friends and family, But top sirloin is the "Best" cut of meat I have ever received, even after complaining about it on the phone with them. I am paying top dollar for this meat, where is my Tbone, Porterhouse, Filet or even a freaking ribeye? Most of the weight is made up of random tough cuts that you need to google to even figure out how to cook them. While I get the fun of that, 90% of my order should not be made up of random cheap cuts of meat that are only good if you Sous Vide or slow cook/smoke for the premium price I pay. I am going to call them and ask yet again about this, but I am really considering canceling my subscription and just hitting up a local meat shop that can give me my moneys worth.

Sally W.

Yelp
I've been subscribed to Walden Local's delivery service for longer than a year. I'm a retired small farmer, an advocate for humane animal treatment, and an avid cook. Walden Local satisfies every one of these parts of me. The meat is outstanding. (Seriously, if you think you've had roast chicken but haven't had a roast pasture raised chicken, you've got a revelation in store.) Walden uses the whole animal, which respects the animal and gives me a chance to step into previously unexplored culinary territory. I love the availability of organ meats. (I've made my first steak and kidney pie and regularly make liver paté. While I'm thinking of chicken liver...pasture raised chicken liver is awesome!) To the quality and variety of meat, add a shout-out to the seafood options. The monkfish is not great. Something about the cut is off. But, oh my goodness, the skate wings! I didn't even know such a meal existed. Now it's my absolute favorite. The eggs are the best I've had since I stopped raising my own. Finally, the customer service is awesome. I get a delivery every other month, but can skip a delivery anytime I desire. I received some bread that I was unhappy with, and the cost was refunded immediately, no questions asked. The meat is packed in dry ice, and is never even slightly affected by the hottest weather. I've sent several emails and have always received a courteous response within twenty-four hours. I love, love, love this service.

Anonymous U.

Yelp
Signed up and received 2 monthly 10-13 lb shares, beef and pork only. The price per pound is extremely high considering that I received only ground beef and cheap cuts of beef and pork. Pork shoulder, chuck steaks, cheap roasts suitable for stew etc. If you are including chicken you are getting an even worse deal per pound. The ground beef was tasty, the other cuts not so good. Too much fat (not the good kind like in marbled steaks) and connective tissue. Tough when cooked. Very disappointing. I cancelled immediately on receiving the second delivery and seeing nothing better than the first. You are paying up to $13/lb for items that should sell for half of that and less in many cases. Join C****o and you can buy USDA Prime beef for similar prices and choose the cuts you prefer. Otherwise - go to your local butcher. Customer service was very polite and cancelled immediately. They explained that they pay a good price to the farmers. No high pressure sales pitch to stay on. If you want to donate your money to local farms and you are making an ethical decision go for it. If you want delicious, top quality meat look elsewhere.

Yelp
We've been fans of Walden Local Meat since September 2016, haven't skipped one delivery. This is the only way we buy our meat and fish. It took some getting used to cooking pastured raised meat (less fatty than non-pastured raised) but we love knowing it comes from caring, hardworking local farmers. Also we're huge fans of the butter and eggs and their chorizo is the best. Every month our Walden delivery arrives is like Christmas morning.

Tanya F.

Yelp
My family and I have had a subscription for several years, and for good reason. The quality of all the products is consistently outstanding. We have enjoyed all the delicious cuts of meat, fish and eggs. Oh my gosh - the eggs are glorious! Everything is fresh, tasty and each month is a fun surprise of "what goodies will we cook this month?" I also recommend the monthly add-ons, which provide good options for additional meals. I also feel good knowing that we are supporting local farmers, and eating high quality, humanely treated, more eco-friendly meat. You can definitely taste the difference! The deliveries are well-timed, come in an excellent cooler, and the customer service is second to none.
google avatar

Caitlin M.

Yelp
We've been very happy with Walden! We mostly ate chicken before starting to receive a monthly shipment, so it's been nice to add some variety. We get the lowest package + 2 lbs of sustainable fish. I definitely haven't always known how to cook things but I can usually find a method with a quick google search. It's more expensive than you would pay at the grocery store (of course) but it feels good to be supporting sustainable farming. The only negative is that I don't really care for most sausage (generally, not just Walden). It would be nice to be able to opt for hot dogs instead (especially since I have a toddler who would surely eat them).

Yelp
We signed up with Walden 3 months ago. The communication by email is terrific. They quickly responded to any questions or concerns I had as a new customer. They have a section on the order page where you can notify them of any allergies or dietary concerns. It is there that I requested nothing with sugar in it. I have never received anything with sugar as a result. Every delivery has arrived on time and well packed. We have enjoyed our meats and I usually order extra ground beef and a dozen eggs. We have been happy with all of it. I like that you can change your preferences at any time and add anything special they offer before your order is set to deliver. Nothing but good things to say about Walden.

Erik G.

Yelp
I was with Walden for two months and headed into a third when I canceled my subscription. From the get-go, the company seemed incapable of addressing simple requests (e.g., please call my cell to let me know when the driver has dropped off our share, or when can we actually get chicken in our share). The last straw was when I switched my account over to my AMEX card for the points and the card was repeatedly rejected (though there were thousands of dollars of available credit on the card). When I spoke to my bank, I was told that somehow Walden's system held up my charge because either a) the address and/or expiration are wrong (which I reentered three times and reviewed with a representative of my bank on the phone) b) Walden had failed to do the most recent AMEX Security upgrade (which Walden dismissed offhand). Long story short, I chose to believe the bank that I had been with over 23 years than the company that could never quite get my order right. They are all very pleasant at Walden, and I appreciate their mission, but a good mission and a pleasant tone is no excuse for commercial incompetence. Personally, I won't use them again. Your mileage may vary.

Yelp
My partner and I have been members for three months now and are totally obsessed with Walden Local Meat! We eat meat often but were buying the same pieces of meat every week and it was getting really boring. The quality of the meat at our grocery store was not good either, we were often disappointed. So we tried this! It is a bit more pricey than what we were spending at the grocery store (Market Basket) but the quality is outstanding! You can really taste the difference. We also get the eggs which are awesome as well. Each month we have gotten a different selection of meat (we get the 11lb option) and they have yet to repeat! We have really enjoyed receiving new cuts of meat that we typically wouldn't buy, then we look up how to cook it or use some of the recipes Walden provides each month! It has really opened us up to more exciting options and makes dinner less boring! Grocery shopping has become a breeze as well. We just go in and get veggies and sides because we already have the meat at home! The meat comes vacuumed sealed, so even you defrost it, it can stay in the fridge for longer than grocery store meat. It tastes great after defrosting too. Such big fans of Walden!

Anne M.

Yelp
I am very pleased w my membership with Walden Local Meat. I wanted to get a turkey from them, so I needed to join. The turkey was fabulous, as were the rolls, butter and pecan pie. I got a share the next month, and expensive, but you get what you pay for. The hamburger was delicious, as were the pork chops and chicken breasts. I have a pork roast and spare ribs still, and I am sure they will be excellent as well. I am on an every four month pain. I like meat, especially good quality, but I don't eat it most nights. The flexibility in ordering is great, and the customer service - they are very responsive, and personable. Highly recommended!!

Evie M.

Yelp
Outstanding! I only just started my subscription, but I am so impressed with this company and thier ethos in regards to caring for the animals and the planet. The quality of products is unsurpassed, quite possibly some of the best pastured beef, pork and chicken we've ever had. And they deliver right to your door! I am so happy they dropped a postcard in my mailbox. I will be a subscriber for life!

Cathy R.

Yelp
We have been buying most of our meat through Walden for a couple of years through their monthly shares program. The quality of the meat and the ease of the website are both top notch. We got the ham that we served on Christmas through them and it was superb. All our guests agreed it was the best ham they'd ever had. Give them a try!

Yelp
I cook for a household that is divided between meat eaters and vegetarians and do my best to source our lamb, beef, pork products and chicken from local farmers who raise their stock using best practices. Walden's prices and qualities and customer service make their service a win- win for us. We just got our first delivery and as we pulled out each package I called out what it would cost me to buy the item at the best price I usually get. By the time we unpacked we were ahead of the game plus it was delivered to my door in freezer ready vacuum packaging. Very pleased to have started using this company! Customer service has been proactive friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Amazing! We've been getting shares for about 6 months or so, and every single cut of meat has been so flavorful. We started Walden because we were always disappointed with the quality of meat available at the grocery store. We decided that we'd rather eat less meat and have it be delicious, so that's what we do. We're getting the 6-7 lb share and it suits us pretty well for two or three meat meals per week for two adults. BTW, for those saying they think their shares are small, I have not found that to be the case - each month our share is between 6-7 lbs., exactly what we pay for. Their personal service is fantastic - for example, I like lamb but my husband is not a fan, and I only use stew meat or ground lamb. We both like ham maybe once a year. The person who took my call assured me that would be no problem, and also told me what it would look like on my account page since her more detailed notes would not be visible to me. Like I said, every month is delicious and it does feel good to know we're helping live a little more sustainably.

Yelp
Words cannot describe how wonderful Walden Local is. I have been receiving monthly deliveries for some time now and I've never been disappointed. The meat is simply fantastic. They provide instructions on how best to prepare it and monthly recipes they've collected. They also offer monthly specials that include not only meat, but spices, soaps, etc - in particular I love their meat sticks (irresistable). Once they forgot to add one of my monthly special items to my bag. Within in an hour they had responded to my email and offered to do a second delivery. The absolute best service of any company I've ever had dealings with. You also can't forget the manner in which they do business which is local, sustainable and works to improve the lives of the animals and people involved. Feel good about it all.

Lindsey H.

Yelp
I love love love Walden Local meats. I am a single person and am usually preparing meals for myself and my boyfriend or just myself for weekly meal prep. The ability to select portion sizes is great so there is minimal waste on my end, I order 2 portion sizes. The 6-7lb box was perfect, and had a great variety (chicken breast, sausages, ground lamb, a small ham, and steak tips). I also added an extra lb. of ground beef. Everything has been amazing and the peace of mind knowing that the meat is sustainably produced is priceless. At an average of ~$10/lb its pricier than, say, a Market Basket, but much cheaper than what I would pay at WholeFoods. I also want to add that they have really great personal customer service.

Yelp
excellent - everything !! love all the products, Eggs, meats, all delicious- top quality . Perfect sizing good packaging all round perfect experience with Walden- I got my Turkeys from them this year and they were fantastic. I also get the ground hearts and livers for my dogs who go crazy when give them the extra treat in their dish. The ground beef for hamburgers just WOW - again everything is very high quality you get what you pay for - enjoy !

Yelp
We've been using Walden Local for several months and we love it! The customer service and delivery are great. I've switched around shares, tried the fish, added some specials, tried the eggs, butter and bacon, and I've been happy with all of it. I especially love the ground beef. All the meats have been really tasty! And I like that every share comes with a recipe card to add to the member cookbook binder that came with my first order I left a tip for the driver, and he didn't take it! Customer service said they're happy to deliver to us! I highly recommend.

Yelp
It feels amazing to have meats from Walden local meat because I don't need to worry about "bad stuff" coming into my stomach. My husband is a carnivore and he eats meat in every meal. This is the main reason why I have chosen to order our meats from WLM to help him get at least heathy meats daily. The taste is wonderful! We made grommet burgers with their ground beef which melt in our mouths. The only downfall is that all the products are delivered frozen and some meats, especially steaks are little chewy.

Yelp
I signed up with Walden over a year ago and today I am cancelling my account. In my opinion , the quality and choice has slowly gone down. So, this is why I am cancelling my account; The share is too expensive, average $13 per pound, for chicken, ground beef, pork and sausage and one ribeye, that is too much compare to the surrounding markets who offer the same quality. Every month, it's a "surprise!" at what we get. We got three months in a row "London broil",for the beef, not good. everything else was sausage, chicken and ground beef. I want to choose what I want to eat. And I want to know how much I am being charged per item, Not just a mer $79/month and be surprised. Also, they never include a bill/invoice. It's that legal in Massachusetts, I don't think so. Last year their driver drove into our garage door and damaged it. We called right away, Got one email then never heard back from them So time to say goodbye

Yelp
This is the only way to buy meat! The service is outstanding and the meat is excellent and locally raised by environmentally conscious farmers. They deliver to me once a month and they have everything from chicken to seafood. Fabulous quality and a good price. Very very happy with this company's product and service.

Yelp
My wife, who is an excellent cook, signed up to get a shipment of Walden Meats. She read all the directions and prepared the beef roast. It was bad. Tough and tasteless. I had London broil that was better and more tender. It put me off dinner for the evening. Offer some of the meat to the dogs they didn't seem overly interested in it. I will buy the grass fed hormone free beef from our local markets, which I have found to be very good.

Yelp
I love the variety of meats and cuts I get with my Walden deliveries--helps inspire cook creativity. The prepared meats--ham, bacon, sausages--are excllent, and the cuts of meat taste better than I've generally found in the supermarket. Happy to support local, more ethical meat production!

Yelp
Cancelled my subscription - disappointed. For my first order - bacon was just fat, roast was very, very gristly - went for basics this time, they only delivered two ground beef and one small chicken. Not worth the $.

Yelp
Horrible!!! The meats are all cheap, random low end cuts! The sausage salty with tough casing. The fish was just horrible, rotten & full of bones! I come from a family of fishmongers so I know quality seafood. Honestly the only way I can see to possibly enjoy the meat is to throw it in a pressure cooker & cook it to death! Save your money & go to a real butcher

Yelp
Humanely sourced local meats, delivered to my door - what could be better? Oh yeah - the meats are delicious! Try the pastrami sausages and you will never eats grocery store sausage again.

Yelp
I've been using Walden for almost a year now and it is a choice I've never regretted! The service is amazing, the cuts are top notch and the variety really makes me think outside the box for new recipes. It's a bit on the pricier side, but the flavor & quality is so far and above what you'd pay at the supermarket so it's completely worth it!

Yelp
I just got my first share with the add on of fish. I have to say the amount of fish was just perfect. I had the Red Fish tonight and it was absolutely delicious, fresh tasting and was easy to cook. Thanks Walden!

Yelp
Walden Local is amazing - the quality of the products is incredible and literally incomparable to the grocery store (even the expensive stuff). It is very fairly priced for the quality. The service is incredible as well - always answer their email promptly. But the best part, by far, is knowing that you can eat that well while significantly reducing your impact on the environment by eating locally sourced and humanely raised/caught food. I highly recommend the seafood as well - they tell you exactly who caught it, where, and even the name of the boat! How great is that?
