"Run by the Hupfer family, this establishment enjoys a tranquil location on the Herrenschwand high plateau, 1 020m above sea level. This stunning setting is surrounded by an abundance of greenery – unsurprisingly, tables on the garden terrace are coveted. Son Volker delivers exceptional cuisine that is entirely centered on the region and the season. In addition to set menus (regular or vegan) and à la carte dishes, there is a selection of traditional Black Forest snacks. Overnight accommodation in this picturesque corner of Todtnau can easily be arranged – guestrooms are available in stammHaus and spaHaus." - Michelin Inspector

We stumbled across this hotel when riding our bikes. Had an absolutely lovely lunch, kitchen and service is excellent. The interior of the hotel is very nice. Would highly recommend.

We went for a dinner at the restaurant. So happy we did The whome team was courteous and professional. We were very happy with the staff and the food, which was delicious. It was definitely worth our drive and time.

We stayed at the Spahouse that's opened since Dec 2013 which is about 50m from the hotel. The room is very spacious, beautiful bathroom, nice and comfortable beds (not the pillows) and nice view from the balcony. Big flat TV screen which was really nice especially when we were there during the World Cup Final (13th July 2014). Beautiful and clean wellness center but too warm at the relax area especially when the weather is warm outside. Quiet surroundings. Dinner was moderate. The soup and sauce on the main courses were very saltish. Simple breakfast and the owner seems quite stingy with the brown round bread. She tucked the brown bread under and between all the white bread instead of splitting them clearly in two baskets since there's plenty of space on the table. The konus-card that we're provided by the hotel was very useful. You have to request for the bus schedule from the hotel which is very convenient when u go round Black Forest by public transport (there's a bus that stops outside the hotel). Nice walking routes of different difficulty levels around the hotel, at Feldberg, Titisee and other places if you have the time. It's a nice and very clean hotel with friendly owners but they should improve on the service at breakfast and the cook should taste the food before serving the dinner as there are people who follow low sodium diet. There're salt and pepper on the table for those who want to add more salt should they wish to.

Stayed for 2 nights in the main house - you can walk over to the sauna area in the new spa house building. Good breakfast selection. Dinner was exceptional. This family run business makes you feel welcome in the traditional friendly German manner. Most guests are Germans - however the staff can converse in English. We did a day trip to Triberg.

We stayed her for 2 night as we had an appointment on Todtmoos. The new extension is amazing! The rooms are lovely and big and you have a great view from the veranda. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom slightly ope. Breakfast was ok and dinner nice local dishes. We had a nice stay and would stay here again for sure.

Although the address is in Todtnau, the hotel is away from the town in a distant village. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well maintained. The dinner at the restaurant was excellent. However, the service was very slow, maybe because they were fully booked. The breakfast was rich with a large selection.|There was a misunderstanding when we asked about the price and we were given a price per person rather than a price per room which is the common practice in Germany according to our experience.|However, when we returned home we wrote to them and they promised to reimburse us. This in our eyes goes to show a willingness too keep the customer happy.|We highly recommend the hotel and especially the restaurant.

We have just returned from a family holiday here and we were blown away by the experience. The Hupfer family run a magnificent chalet in a small village about fifteen minutes drive from Todtnau. There is a small ski slope in the village but we were there in the summer and the approach is stunning. The climb out of Todtnau and through the woods until you reach the meadows is just gorgeous.||||First impressions of the hotel are the peace and quiet and beauty of the countryside. We were welcomed at reception with beaming smiles and handshakes and shown to our rooms. The one we were in on the first floor had a balcony - very homely, quite large with a minibar, en suite shower and TV. Sitting on the balcony watching the world go by was really relaxing. The top floor had a more modern fitted room which din't have a balcony but was really well finished. There is construction of a new hotel just over the road but even the cranes are quiet here. ||||We went for half board which is amazingly good value and the food was terrific. No choice of soup and salad - but both were lovely, then a choice of two or three main courses which are locally sourced and delicious - we had choices including trout, schnitzel, pork etc with pasta, potatoes and sauerkraut. Then finished off with a small dessert. The dining room and service is warm and friendly. One evening there was a fantastic Black Forest Gateau on offer as an extra||||Breakfast was a buffet with occasionally boiled eggs but always good pastry and preserves, juice, muesli and tea or coffee.||||We swapped room for the last night and went into a fabulous room at the top of the hotel with a little seating area and great views.||||We wanted a quiet, very German, Black Forest experience and we really got it. The location in summer is perfect for relaxing, walking and mooching round local towns. I should mention that I embarrassingly don't speak any German and mainly the staff only speak German. Thankfully my daughter has a good vocabulary and helped us out. Be prepared and make good use of Google translate.

We stayed a couple of nights in the annex, an newly built part of the hotel that is 50m from the old main hotel. You find there very nice and modern rooms and a the spa. This part would deserve 5 stars. ||The main house is quite old-fashioned, and there you have breakfast and dinner. The breakfast is nothing much to write home about, small with limited choice. ||The food at the dinner is good, sometimes there is a too long wait for it.||Beware that you are 20 minutes from Todnau in the middle of nowhere.
