Yelp
My last visit was in spring 2018. This pizza place has been a staple for years and I was excited to return after a long hiatus.
Location: 9/10 Waldo is one of my favorite places to visit in the city. It's quaint and picturesque with cool spots to hang like Social and The Well.
Customer Service: 2/10 Our server was stellar! He was very kind, attentive and helpful. He was even apologetic for his coworker, who was less than thrilled to be working. He was also the person that seated us upon our arrival. When we went to the pizza buffet, Mr. Grumpy Pants bussed our table and got rid of our napkins, silverware, and drinks. Why would you think we already left when you seated us five minutes prior? Luckily, our server fixed it right away. Grumpy also He also couldn't be bothered when we were leaving. His attitude was pretty foul.
Pizza: 2/10 I remember the pizza being fresh, crispy, and drizzled with the perfect amount of sauce. This was not the case this visit. The pizza was dry, had little sauce, and the crust was like rubber. It seemed like it had been sitting out for a while. The selection was poor, with the majority of the pizzas being specialty kinds and these pizzas were hot and fresh. We had to request regular pepperoni, which had tasted like it had been sitting in the back for a while. This was very disappointing, especially since our meal was $35.
Timing is everything: I honestly think the buffet food is better when they first open. We came at 1, an hour before the buffet shuts down and that may be the reason the food was subpar.
Overall: 2/10 I love pizza and it's disappointing when it does not live up to my standards. After this visit, I would have preferred to visit The Well or Social, but we avoided those places because the game was on. We may try again earlier in the day if we decide to visit again, but for now, it's a pass.
