New Orleans’s Best Sports Bars to Watch the Super Bowl

"The game is always on at the Poydras Street location of the popular sports bar chain, situated in the direct line of fire for game days at the ‘Dome. Walk-On’s hosts some serious Saints watch parties with drink specials, 30-plus televisions, and balcony seating. The other area locations of the popular Drew Brees-backed sports bar chain are in Metairie and Slidell." - Eater Staff

We had a great experience at Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux Today! The food was excellent—my voodoo shrimp and grits and the blackened catfish Orleans my husband had were both full of flavor and cooked perfectly. One of our kids devoured the chicken avocado sandwich, so that’s saying something too! Our server, Matthew, took great care of us and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. We’ll definitely be back!

Visited this place for lunch. Its a nice chill location. Its very spacious and you can sit at the bar, or booths. The food was good. I expected the Louisiana Kick wings to have a kick to them but they did not. But overall the food was good. The Mozzarella sticks were 10/10 Its been a long time since I've had some good Mozzarella sticks thumbs up to the cook.

If you're looking for a place that has some great food, cool, clean space and excellent service, you've found it. We visited Walk-On's in Florida, so I knew they had some good food. This location has a shining star, our girl Aali'Jia is top notch. She made sure we always were checked on the multiple times we walked by, kept the drinks coming and made excellent recommendations. We enjoyed alligator bites and Devil's on Horseback for apps. The crawfish etouffee is beyond delicious! So flavorful, I wished we had ordered bowls instead of cups. The catfish was flaky and tasty. The Ragin Redfish with Crawfish Cream sauce is something I would eat EVERY week if I lived near here. I was overheated from walking around, so I opted for the chicken berry salad. It was so flavorful. We didn't have room for dessert but I'm willing to bet they do those right too. We will definitely be back, we love this place. And after traveling for a week, the amazing service was so refreshing, Aali'Jia is sweet with a little spice, we really enjoyed her, she made the visit an A++!

Google
Nice franchise restaurant, nothing extraordinary. I ordered wings and side salad. The salad was extremely fresh and the wings were good. I ordered their signature flavor which came with a hot honey drizzle..Our server was Aaliyia was very polite and patient.

Food is honestly the reason for 5 star. The server we had was uninterested and unpleasant. Although, food was delivered quickly and tasted great! Only negative was our drinks. We had 2 of the margarita swirled with moonshine (can't remember the name) and they had NOflavor. .

After working a local game, I decided to stop by Walk-On’s for a bite before catching the bus home—and I’m glad I did. There was no wait, and I easily found a seat at the bar. The bartender was absolutely lovely—friendly, attentive, and clearly skilled. As a fellow mixologist, I appreciated how knowledgeable she was about her craft. We discussed what kind of Manhattan I wanted, and she customized it perfectly based on the spirits available. It was spot on. I ordered the Hickory Burger, and it was excellent—perfectly cooked, with flavorful toppings that really made it stand out. My only complaint was the honey mustard situation: I had to ask twice, and when it came, the portion was tiny—so small I needed a second one. A small hiccup in an otherwise great meal. One letdown was that the local game wasn’t on TV—I was hoping to catch the end—but considering how it was going, I get it. Still, that’s part of the charm of a sports bistreaux, so I hope they consider more local game coverage in the future. I’ve been to several Walk-On’s locations, including the impressive setup they ran at the Zurich Classic, and this one holds its own. It’s conveniently located within walking distance of the sports arena and just outside the heart of downtown. It’s a great spot whether you’re grabbing a quick bite, out on a casual date, or just hanging solo. Pro tip: order a drink—you won’t be disappointed. And if you’re a sports fan, strike up a conversation with a local about golf or baseball. This place is welcoming and full of character.

The food was great. We got the honey hot boneless wing, the cajun ribeye, and ahi tuna bowl. The ribeye was cooked to perfection (med rare). LIZ was our waitress, and she made good suggestions and was very attentive. The host was wonderful and very delightful as well!! Wonderful experience!!!!

Yelp
Onya gave us great service and the grilled cheese was worth it. Positive and lively environment.

Yelp
Walk on is a great spot for watching a good game. Good eats, spacious, can handle crowds/has plenty of seating. There's also a big bar if you going alone or with one person. I ordered the chicken wrap, which comes with waffle fries. The wrap is really good and comes with fresh lettuce and veggies. Parking near by is difficult and metered parking.

Yelp
Dinner started off well, our server was very nice and friendly and our appetizer (queso with pita chips) came out quickly and was good. For dinner, I ordered the Caesar salad and my daughter ordered the cheeseburger sliders. The dressing on the salad was just ok but the croutons were good! The sliders were also very good. For dessert, we tried the bite-sizes beignets and they were fine. Nothing was totally outstanding with the food but it was in a convenient location to the dome. It all fell apart for us at the end when we had to keep waiting for our server. An entire hour went by from the time we were done eating our dinner to the time we paid our bill! They were busy but the frustrating part was that we could see our server standing around talking with other staff. After waiting 30 mins after finishing dessert, I finally just went up to our server and asked for the bill. She seemed annoyed that I asked. She dropped it off without staying a word. It was all very uncomfortable and seemed like a totally different server from the one who started off our service. I was between 2 and 3 stars... 3 is average which describes the food, and the service started off as 4 or 5 but by the end of our 2 hour dinner and uncomfortable interactions, it just ruined it all. So many options for food in NOLA, we wouldn't try it again.

Yelp
This is your standard, big box corporate sports bar, with the good and bad that comes with it. The good: huge bar, TVs everywhere, lots of beers on tap, plenty of seats. The bad: uninspired menu, uninspired food. All in all, it does what it should. If you want to watch a game, it's a good place for it. If you want haute cuisine, well you probably wouldn't be considering a sports bar anyway.
google avatar

Don P.

Yelp
My needs were quite simple and everything was totally provided. I just wanted an appetizer and adult beverage in the late afternoon, and I totally enjoyed the first-time experience to this location. Even with the busy Mardi Gras rush going on, they were staying organized. It was very busy as the time of my visit, so that helped as well. Thanks, Walk-On's !!

Yelp
Ashley is an amazing! This was a cool sports car with good food. It wasn't too pricey and had good portion sizes. Again our server Ashley excellent!
google avatar

Keith R.

Yelp
Great environment. It is not a sports bar, it's a sports restaurant! Family friendly. There can be some (or a lot) of cheering during the game but it "not" roudy!! Plenty of screens to watch the game. No mater where you sit, there will be several screens in view, unobstructed.

Yelp
We came here before a Pels game expecting generic food and mediocre service. Instead, the menu was diverse (for a sports bar), the food was delicious, and the service was fantastic. We're not from the area, but this would be my go-to pre-game spot if we were!
google avatar

Julie Y.

Yelp
Service was wonderful. We were there at 3 pm and no crowd. All the food was good and came out quickly. Skinny Margarita was delish! Our first time having gumbo and it was excellent!

Yelp
We were a little disappointed in this chain restaurant. I felt something was amiss when the parking lot was not full at 12 noon. We came in so we could watch a game in the tvs as this is a sports bar. The food service was slow and the items were not great . I had a grilled chicken salad that was small and not very appetizing. My companion had a burger that looked better but he said it was just ok. Had to flag the waitress down to get a refill which she forgot to bring me . She was also awful at bringing the check after we asked . This is a definite place to avoid unless they get better management.

Yelp
I'd say 2.7-3 stars. Regular chain spot experience. I guess it wasn't thee worst for a Downtown spot (those are always extra grimey). The food wasn't bad. I got a Buffalo chicken wrap and the attempt was ok (they had a good amount of chicken and they toasted the tortilla!) but, it was DROWNING in Buffalo sauce. It made the tortilla super soggy but also, it was just way too overpowering to eat. Also, I saw 2 too many hairs (so, so gross when you're eating). One was in front of me on the bar and the other was right in my white tea shot! Safe to say I didn't eat much. One positive note is that my well drinks were $6 each...I wasn't expecting that for a spot so close to the Superdome! So, maybe I'd recommend for a drink before a game or concert...just check for hair first, lol.

Yelp
I recommend this place to stop in for a cold beer and try the Cheese Logs. My servers name was Kristen, she was on top of her game. Also there was a busser that came over and helped me. One of my kids knocked over our drinks. He helped clean it up real quick, I believe his name is Landon. We enjoyed our visit! All in all I give this place a 8/10! Will be returning next time we are in town!
google avatar

Stef L.

Yelp
Busy during game day but service is quick, drinks are good and food was better than average bar food! Is there better food in NoLa absolutely, but if you are looking for a typical sports bar, and some reasonable priced food and drinks, this is your spot. Service is so nice, the front desk got us a table pretty fast besides it being a mad house! Walking distance to French quarter district and the Dome!
google avatar

Anna L.

Yelp
Caitlynn B was the best server, very attentive to our needs. We had a great time and the food was hot and fresh.
google avatar

Alexander D.

Yelp
We felt welcomed the moment the Gentleman at the door said "Come on In". It's not often the visitors are welcomed by a City establishment. But kudos to the door man and the staff in the back room. Initially a party of +15 and us that didn't go to the actual game but stayed behind to enjoy all Walkon has!!!! Love it.

Yelp
Pierre go get that W boy!!! Everything was amazing! Got the boom boom shrimp tacos fire, and so was the cat fish.
google avatar

Tanysha W.

Yelp
Good food, atmosphere, and service. Nik was our waiter and Hubby enjoyed chatting about men fragrances. He was very helpful. I'm always impressed when the waiter can get the order right without writing it down. He did just that. I chose shrimp and grits and he had a Cajun ribeye. Both were too much to finish but really good. Looking forward to these as leftovers tomorrow. We watched some of a football game as tvs were all around us. We would definitely come back again for quick service with good food.
google avatar

Carmen G.

Yelp
Food quick and great taste. One of the best shrimp & grits we've had .. service and ambiance was very nice attentive and on point
google avatar

Yelp
The food and the service was amazing and my waitress was so kind to me and my family. We came out there for vacation and someone told me about this place.
google avatar

Kimberly G.

Yelp
Went for a nice lunch. The atmosphere was pleasant and nice. The dining area was very big, although it was not full at all today. We went about 12:45 and were seated immediately. Our server came quickly for drink orders and food orders. I got the chicken avacado sandwich. It was amazing!! The sauce was so good and the chicken was perfectly grilled. Bacon was crispy and the avacado was perfectly ripe! It was my first time here and I would definitely return!! Our server was also very nice!
google avatar

Aarone M.

Yelp
A very traditional sports bar. Servers were really nice and food was good, giving 4 stars because the prices seemed a little too high. For example, a small beer was $8. :-/

Thunder B.

Yelp
We came early and absolutely love the food and service! Some of the best catfish I've ever had in New Orleans! We'll be back!!!
google avatar

Derek H.

Yelp
Great Louisiana-inspired menu with food that is above the typical sports bar offerings. It's worth going to just for the food alone, not to mention the friendly staff. Portion sizes are plentiful, as is the beer selection. Speaking of plentiful, the TV's fit that description to a T, so being able to watch all of the games completes the package.

Antonio M.

Yelp
Graved some food and drinks after the game, Pierre was great! Will definitely come back.

Mateo ..

Yelp
PIERRE was the best server. it was just what we were looking for after the Pelicans game.
google avatar

Brandon O.

Yelp
Cool place to watch the college championship game. The server at the table was a little busy so the service was subpar, eventually moved to bar top and had better service. I kept seeing everyone order wings so we took some to go and they were worth it
google avatar

William S.

Yelp
I ordered the alligator bites & boudin balls to go whilst I working one night. The boudin balls were perfectly fried!, some places fry them too hard. The pickup process was seamless! The customer service was top tier as hell. Great downtown American style bar/ restaurant.
google avatar

Andy D.

Yelp
Spacious, clean, great service, and a good establishment! I came here just shortly before the start of the Saints vs Lions NFL game, and was quickly seated. The establishment had their "game day" station set up outside, and did not charge a cover fee for entrance into the bar. I received both quick and friendly service from my waitress, who was very attentive throughout my entire stay during the game. This Sport's Bar is very spacious, clean, and aesthetically kept. Multiple different tables, booths, and tv screens to choose from. I was still very full from brunch, but my friend and I ordered the bone-in chicken wings (not officially on the menu yet). They came out fast and was a nice shark to munch on while watching the game. Great joint in a great location!

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch during a weekday with coworkers. Service was fast and the menu was loaded with delicious-looking options. The place is pretty big on the inside and resembles the typical sports bar. They make margaritas with real, squeezed juice and they tasted great! The food we ordered tasted really good too. Their red beans and rice were some of the better of what I've had in my several trips to New Orleans. The spice and flavor of their pressed style po boy was really nice. Our server was good at keeping an eye on our table and getting us refills. Definitely would return!

Yelp
We had just landed in New Orleans for the second part of a bookend to a cruise. We needed a break from the French Quarter and just wanted to watch our Buffalo Bills. I looked up "sports bars" on Yelp and Walk-Ons showed up. I still wasn't sure all the games were being shown, so we took a chance and walked down to check it out. Luckily it was a quick walk from our hotel. When we got there, we were inundated w/ Swifties pre-gaming w/ their Shirley Temple's and adult beverages pre-concert. It was a bit of a wait for a table, but we were pointed to the back bar where none of the kids had access to the back bar. Touchdown Bills and drinks while waiting for a table. It did take a bit and one of the girls at the front counter extremely uninterested in doing her job...except when a Swiftie was showing her her bracelet's. I looked past all this, because they had every NFL game on their screens and I was a happy camper. We did finally get seated and were aligned w/ a TV adjacent to the Bills game. Food was good. Drinks were good (so many beers on tap and other inventive drinks). Did I mention, every single NFL game was on the TV...because nobody seemed to mention this in any of the reviews I read. This is kind of important for out of towners wanting to watch their team. Our server was outstanding, doing the best she could under the circumstances. It probably would have been 5 starts if the situation was different...oh, and the very indifferent front greeter.

Yelp
Food was full of favor. We didn't have to wait long for food. Bar was clean. TVs everywhere 10/10 for a sports bar. No wait for 2 at bar
google avatar

Yelp
Very cute & cozy on the inside. Service was quick and server was very attentive. She came back multiple times to see if we needed anything. Burger was pressure & stacked with onion rings. . Onion rings were crispy and seasoned. The redfish was ok. I'm a local so I was expecting a bit more flavor and spices. And to top it off my lemon drop was mixed to perfection.
google avatar

AL I.

Yelp
Pierre was our server. He was great! He took my son's food allergy seriously and made excellent recommendations. We will definitely come back in the future.
google avatar

Mary Ellen B.

Yelp
Food was very good. The chicken bomber had the perfect combination of sweet and savory. The waffle fries were very crispy and well seasoned. The person with me had the shrimp and grits. I am not a fan of shrimp and grits, but she said that it was delicious. All staff we encountered were very friendly. The restaurant was very clean and we were seated quickly. Our server, Teja, was very friendly and was quick to get us anything we needed. The food came out quick. We will definitely come back next time we are in New Orleans.
google avatar

Shannon B.

Yelp
This was our last night in NOLA and this place was a quick walk from the Hyatt. We walked in and were seated immediately. Had a great sports bar type atmosphere. Looked like it could accommodate larger parties. Our server was so nice and helped my daughter make a selection. I decided on the Voodoo Shrimp and Grits. The large shrimp, cream cheese and jalapeño were wrapped in bacon served over cheese grits. There was a sweet pepper jelly on top that added the perfect flavor. I did not have any beer or other alcohol but they did have a large selection of beers on tap. This was one of my top 3 dishes I had while here in the city.
google avatar

Byron R.

Yelp
Great Sports bar any seat in the establishment you have a view of the TV's. Male Host was somewhat of a snob, but oh well I got over that pretty fast. Mixed Drinks has more juice than booze, careful when you go to places and they ask single or double(kinda reminds me of Airport cocktails) weak as heck. Although the TV's are great but at this time I'm going to explore other options. I can't comment on the because I didn't stay long enough. How important is a first impression????
google avatar

Reema S.

Yelp
We stopped by here for dinner today. This restaurant was close to our hotel and a short walk. As soon as we walked in we were greeted promptly and seated. Waitress was nice and service was fast and friendly. Food was fantastic. We loved the mozzarella logs the seasoning on them was amazing and the marinara sauce was delicious. My friend ordered the blackened chicken pasta and it was made well. Grilled chicken on top was seasoned perfectly and was juicy and not dry at all. I ordered a salad with the blackened shrimp. The mixed greens and apples and candied pecans was delicious. Dressing was light and bright and tasted amazing. I also ordered a side of hush puppies and broccoli. Hush puppies were dense and more on the sweeter side; I would've loved if they were more savory instead and more fluffy. Otherwise they were fried perfectly. The broccoli was delicious. Steamed with garlic and butter and a perfect healthy side. Overall we had a great meal here and I would absolutely eat here again.

Cedric A.

Yelp
Yet another good place. Had the fried shrimp, catfish and a great server. Victoria thank you for your great service and advice on food.

Yelp
Now, this is what a sports bar should be! TVs everywhere, good-looking food, and strong pours. We stopped by to catch a little bit of the Red River Shootout, spoiler alert OU brought clubs to a gun battle. We just had a couple of Bloodies as we were planning for a late lunch. The food looked pretty good and there were a lot of empty plates. 5-stars for their service! We were sitting at a hightop in the bar area and were told there was no service at these tables. Even though they were slammed a server came by and said even though we were not in her area she could help us. She stopped by with water and asked us a number of times if needed anything. Based on this exemplary service we will return on our next trip.

Yelp
As far as sports bars go, Walk-On's is actually really solid. We stopped in about 4 hours prior to a Monday Night Football game at the Superdome, and were fortunate enough to be able to get a table. We had a fairly short wait, but there was enough room at the bar to grab a beer (they serve 32oz Guinness!?!?!) while we waited. They take your number and you'll receive a text when your table is ready. The host staff were nice, as well as the bartenders, so overall, the initial experience is really good! When we got our table, the service remained great! Our server was very friendly and answered any questions we had. The menu is extensive, having all of the sports bars standards, with a few New Orleans specialties mixed in. I got a shrimp po' boy, which was actually pretty good. Nicely-fried shrimp on a good bread. No complaints at all on the sandwich. My waffle fries were disappointing in texture, but the onion rings were excellent. Overall, the food was above-average when grading on the sports bar curve, and certainly better than what we would've eaten at the stadium. When you combine the friendly staff, a large draft beer selection, tons of TV's to catch any game you can imagine, an orderly system to handle large crowds, and solid food, you're almost guaranteed to have a great sports bar experience. While I don't generally rush to a sports bar, I would certainly go back to Walk-On's in similar circumstances, and if I ever find myself in the New Orleans area and in need to catch a game, I wouldn't hesitate to visit another location based on my experience. Enjoy!

Yelp
Soooo many TVs. Great food like the Devils on Horseback and waffle fries. Burgers were good as well as the po boys.

Gail H.

Yelp
Was seated quickly even though it was busy. The hostesses were very friendly. Our server Liz was awesome. The portions were good and the food was delicious. Price very reasonable..

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch while in town for a conference. It's walking distance from the Hyatt Regency on Loyola, and was recommended by the hotel staff. It's a sports bar with a wonderfully rich menu of New Orleans specialties. I ordered the Crawfish Two Ways. Service was fast and friendly. The Crawfish Two Ways dish comes with crawfish etouffee over rice and fried crawfish tails. The etouffee was tasty, and the fried crawfish tales were perfectly fried, tender, and delicious. I'd recommend asking for cocktail sauce on the side for dipping the fried crawfish tails. It had a nice combination of kick and tang. I would definitely return to explore more of the menu!
google avatar

Hosai W.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch during my trip. I am glad we did. The food was delicious, the drinks were good( except didn't like that our beer came in plastic disposal cup). The service was good, fun atmosphere

Yelp
Date Of Service: July 13, 2023 Time: 6:30PM Was greeted with a smile and a very sports bar type atmosphere but extremely clean! Our server's name is Nick and he was AMAZING! We ordered the stuffed shrimp and it was so good! I could have ate that for dinner! I ordered the Cajun Ribeye and it was very flavorful! And decently priced! I will definitely return and highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
Every walk on's location is top notch. We had an incredible server whose name I have since forgotten but I'm sure service here is just plain great as they often are. Perfect place to visit on game day. They no longer have the beer taps along the tables for self pouring but the upgraded bar with surrounding tvs with views from all angles sure is worth it. Food was fast, hot and tasty. I highly recommend the Hickory Burger (burger with American cheese topped with bacon, bbq sauce and a large fried onion ring). Call ahead seating is encouraged but our wait times have never been longer than 15 min. Keep up the good work!

Isabella D.

Yelp
Not usually a sports bar person and I feel Walk ons isn't the best in terms of Cajun food so definitely go elsewhere for that but their Buffalo sandwich is amazing and my family said their Buffalo wrap is good too so really a good place if you crave Buffalo anything
