As far as sports bars go, Walk-On's is actually really solid. We stopped in about 4 hours prior to a Monday Night Football game at the Superdome, and were fortunate enough to be able to get a table. We had a fairly short wait, but there was enough room at the bar to grab a beer (they serve 32oz Guinness!?!?!) while we waited. They take your number and you'll receive a text when your table is ready. The host staff were nice, as well as the bartenders, so overall, the initial experience is really good!
When we got our table, the service remained great! Our server was very friendly and answered any questions we had. The menu is extensive, having all of the sports bars standards, with a few New Orleans specialties mixed in. I got a shrimp po' boy, which was actually pretty good. Nicely-fried shrimp on a good bread. No complaints at all on the sandwich. My waffle fries were disappointing in texture, but the onion rings were excellent. Overall, the food was above-average when grading on the sports bar curve, and certainly better than what we would've eaten at the stadium.
When you combine the friendly staff, a large draft beer selection, tons of TV's to catch any game you can imagine, an orderly system to handle large crowds, and solid food, you're almost guaranteed to have a great sports bar experience.
While I don't generally rush to a sports bar, I would certainly go back to Walk-On's in similar circumstances, and if I ever find myself in the New Orleans area and in need to catch a game, I wouldn't hesitate to visit another location based on my experience.
Enjoy!
