Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux - San Antonio Restaurant

I came in a little late this evening, but I was very hungry and I chose the double cheeseburger. I was not disappointed although next time I would like to have some mushrooms with my burger. As for the service and atmosphere? I had a wonderful time being served by Faith. She made sure I was well taken care of and felt very hospitable. I'll definitely look forward to coming back very soon!

Great food and wonderful service! Cheyne was our server and did a great job taking care of us and checking in even though the restaurant was packed and busy! The wings, fried shrimp and hush puppies were delicious and they have really good drink options! TVs everywhere to watch the game! We will definitely be back!

Immediately upon walking in had great service. Cheyne answered every question before even asking for my first time. She was very enthusiastic and funny. She made sure we were always taken care of and never went without. Food was VERY well seasoned and delicious. The Louisiana platter had a great batter and plentiful. Coming during happy hour is a must for the drinks and appetizers.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted enthusiastically and felt welcomed! When we got seated on the Patio, Cheyne L. introduced herself and had this AMAZING energy. She answered all questions before we were able to even ask any and went over a bunch of menu items and informed us that it was happy hour! Alcoholic drinks were only $5 and certain appetizers were only $6, prices you can’t beat! They make those drinks like there isn’t going to be a tomorrow and seasons the food that it slaps the soul. I ordered the Cajun Press Poboy and it was delicious!!! It was well seasoned and just so perfect. For our appetizers we got Waffle Cheese fries and Boom Boom Shrimp. The shrimp was seasoned perfectly and the flavors just burst on the tongue. The cheese fries had that perfect balance and were not too salty thankfully! My friend ordered the Louisiana Platter, and her taste buds went to heaven. This is some of the best food we have had in a while where everything was great! Everyone needs to come here at one point!

Our insurance agent suggested we come check this place out since we are from near Louisiana. It did not disappoint. They have an awesome tap selection. This was the best Cajun food we have had in San Antonio. We got the boudin balls and we shared the Louisiana platter. The platter was the perfect amount of food for two. The crawfish etouffee reminded us of childhood and the hush puppies were delectable. The traffic coming over here from home sucks but this is worth driving back over.

This is my 4th visit to WalkOns. Each time I've been so impressed! It's a very large, very busy sports bar. The food is consistently delicious (today I had the chicken, berry and pecan salad and onion rings), and the customer service is outstanding. I had excellent, cheerful service today from my waitress, Tara. Thanks, WalkOns, for always a great experience. I highly recommend!

1st time here and the food was no good. I ordered the chicken and sausage gumbo with rice. I asked for the bowl. 1st impression, I see no rice, she said it's in the bottom. 2nd I see no chicken or sausage. 3rd no flavor. Very small portion. If Walk-Ons doesn't know how to make chicken and sausage gumbo then they shouldn't have it on the menu. Also my wife ordered the chicken avocado sandwich. The chicken had zero flavor and was so sloppy she left it there. Will not be coming back or recommending this place.

Great service from Maddie P., loved the Ahi Tuna Maddie P helped us sign up for the Rewards App and received instant points towards our meal and a free dessert for our next visit.

If you are looking for a good sports bar that actually has great food also then forget hooters, twin peaks, ojos locos and all the rest. Have never received a meal I did not enjoy. Service is also excellent and a great beer variety and Cajun food you don't need to go to Louisiana to enjoy. Three thumbs up for this establishment!!!

The way our waitresses (Madison and Faith) handled our big party with organization as well as good service was awesome! The food came out shockingly fast and was as good as it usually is.

Walk-On's has a happy hour full of drinks and food appetizers worth being to attention here on Yelp. All the servers and bartenders were a pleasure to meet and chat with.

I wasn't too fond of the food at this restaurant. The menu just didn't seem to fit what I was looking for. I ordered the hamburger with cheese and it was very soggy. This is not my first time here. My visits have not been good. I will not return. Oh, forgot to mention that I was at the San Antonio location.

No wait on a Friday night even though the were pretty busy. Server was great. First time here so we shared a few things. Boudin balls were great, packed with flavors and piping hot coming out of the kitchen. Gator bites were decent, nice that they weren't over cooked which is easy to do. Both of those appetizers come with a horseradish-Dijon mustard dip that added some pizzaz. Shrimp poboy was perfect. Shrimp wasn't super fishy tasting and had good breading. Bloody Mary (I think it's listed as mad Mary, maybe) was phenomenal, finally somewhere that knows how to make it we'll! Spicy, adorned with olives , a pickled green bean, lemon and lime and a cute little Tabasco to kick it up a notch. Highly recommend. Will be back soon.

My family and I have been going to walk-on's for years and they never disappoint. We absolutely love the outdoor seating, they have very spacious tables and lots of big screen TVs with sports all over the place. I will admit that the service can sometimes be hit or miss, but management is definitely quick to correct it. When my husband and I got there, we had not been spoken to for over five minutes after being seated and once he spoke to a manager, they got someone over to us right away, and our server was great. Since it had been a while, we had lots of questions about the menu and she gave us some great feedback, we were very pleased with our food, everything was hot fresh and delicious and tasted like it was made with fresh oil. They do have a great happy hour menu also. If you want a great place to hang out, have good food, and watch sports, this is definitely the place to go.

My family's first time here. At first everything was ok. Ordered my kids food first as some places who are typically busy take a while. Had i known our waitress would never make an appearance again after bringing some of our food. Other tables were constantly getting checkec on while we were still looking for her. I had to ask someone else where our waitress was so i could order food and drink refills. After that she saw i was upset with the crap service we got she sent the trainiee to give us the check. Still tipped $5 but definitely ruined our first experience there. Never got to eat the food to experience it, my kids and wife enjoyed their food. At least had the tvs to keep me entertained.

Back again this time with international guests. They loved it and have visited twice. Why, you might ask? Good food and great service, thanks to Cami.

Just around the corner from home, Walk's on never disappoints. Their portions are more than fair and their food quality is usually great. Plenty of screens to watch the game and great drink specials for happy hour. While there are other great Cajun food places to eat, walk on's is a nice break away from the norm and a great place to enjoy lunch and dinner.

Another visit. Another awesome time. Have I mentioned this place rocks!!! Food is amazing. Staff is amazing. Plenty of tvs to catch the game or event. LOTS of beer on tap. The ribeye poboy is amazeballs. It's so effing good. Their chicken dishes are great as well. Awesome place to chill, relax and enjoy company. Goooooo. Go try the food the beer the great times.

Came with the girls to Sunday funday and enjoyed $3 mimosas. Our waitress was very understanding as we waited with appetizers for another friend. We had brought a cake to celebrate a late birthday and they offered plates and forks willingly.

Never had a bad time at Walk On's! The servers are always super friendly, and items ordered come out just as quickly as you can ask for them. The food is classic American bar food but with a Louisiana twist. While I can't say I've ever been blown away by a dish, it is good for the price. There are definitely not a lot of options for special diets so do be sure to check out the menu ahead of time if you need to accommodate anyone. Although, with the friendly service I am sure you'd be able to discuss any dishes that might need tweaking without issue. It's great to stop in any day of the week, as on top of happy hour they also offer daily specials - all of which are great deals! If you are looking for a place to catch a game and have a drink with friends, this is it!

It's a sports bar/grille, which means that they have drinks, but it's a restaurant, too, so kids and families are seated at the tables throughout. The vibe is generally family friendly, but you could some passionate fans who occasionally yell 4 letter words at the TV screens. The food is meh, mostly frozen stuff that is fried with a sort of cajun-New Orleans vibe. The beer taps are plentiful, but it's largely nothing different or exceptional; they're serving the standard domestic and Mexican beers, and then throwing in a few mass distributed 'craft' beers, but nothing crazy or beerknurd like. They show all the games, but the lowest common denominators (e.g. the state supported universities) often take over many TVs. The Servers are younger women in short tennis/cheer skirts who want to be somewhere else, but who largely get the job done. I don't go anymore in the wintertime because the place gets really hot inside, probably because the young servers are slim and not dressed very warmly such that the heat is cranked.

Yikes. I just had a small roach run across the bar in front of me. I flicked him on the floor and then he headed northward. Told the bartender but appears it is normal. First and last time here

Love the fried catfish, mozzarella logs, cheesy grits, salads, burgers and more. Sports bar with great service and friendly staff/ managers. Recommended for sports fans and lovers of Louisiana food.

The boyfriend is a huge Ravens fan and they host the Ravens fans during games. It's a nice place, clean, well maintained. They have a room off the bar that they use. The food is good and quick. My youngest declared the cheeseburger "the best burger he ever had." The servers are always friendly and welcoming.

This place has been a winner for us whenever we've eaten/ordered here-except this time... -waffle fries were just terrible; cold & hard. -the "spoonful" of rice for my Gumbo was a joke!!! I substituted an entire side for the rice, but this portion looks like a favor to me. -I ordered extra Catfish, so It's puzzling why they gave me a filet, when the order was filled with strips. Not sure what happened, but this experience was a bit disappointing!

We had a great dinner here the other night. Our server took great care of us. So many TVs!! If you want to watch something, this is the place to be. My ahi tuna salad was delicious and filling. My better half also enjoyed his rib eye poboy sandwich. The kids enjoyed their burger and grilled cheese. Who doesn't like eating out of a frisbee? A great place to sit at the bar alone or with friends, dinner with the family or a date.

Yikes. My first experience at this location was shocking! I'd been to the location on I-10 before they shut it down; LOVED the turkey and swiss sandwich before they started cutting corners. Used to be served on big old pieces of bread. Used to be a big, nice sized sammie. Now, it's served on a tiny ass bun, and it's not worth the money. But that's not what made or recent visit so shocking. My brother in law had cards for free appetizers, so off we went. All 8 of us (2 infants)...yeah, we had our hands full. The service started strong, but trailed off toward the end. My blackened chicken was just okay, nothing special, and I never got my other side. Had to request it be removed from the bill before paying. You know who else has something taken off their bill? My brother in law...after he found a huge wad of curly hairs. Y'all this was NOT one random, rogue hair. This. Was. A. CLUMP. The pics simply don't do it justice, but you can somewhat see the "spidery" outline of nastiness. What was most disappointing was the response from the server and from management. Yes, the server apologized. Yes, the manager came to our table and told us she'd talk to the kitchen staff. But that was it. The manager did come back by, but never addressed our issue again. Listen, with a gross ass clump of hair that size...my brother in law's WHOLE EXPERIENCE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FREE, not just his meal. And, in my opinion, should have received a gift card. But I guess hair in your food isn't that big a deal anymore... Then the final insult, it took way too long to get our checks and get out of there. Check! Your! Food!

The husband and I went recently and he had a boom boom poor boy and I had the lemon butter chicken over a bed of corn grits and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal! The corn grits were excellent! Our server was named Cheyne, she was very attentive and friendly and funny! Definitely will be going back.

Ordered via a 3rd party delivery service so this is a review of the food only. The food arrived on time, so the food was made quickly! I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap because I am a sucker for this dish at any restaurant. I am normally disappointed, but not here! The wrap had a perfect amount of chicken, full of flavor (not just heat), and the waffle fries are a great accompaniment. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Could not finish it all, but was able to share with my husband. Will return to eat in person soon!

We went to Walk-On's for the Ravens- Chiefs game. My sister is part of a Ravens fan club and they had a around130 fans there at the restaurant, practically filling it. We had reservations through the fan club and arrived early to make sure we got a good seat. We were quickly greeted by Roman, and ordered something to drink and appetizers. We chose fried pickles and the devils on horseback. The food came quickly and it was hot and tasty. The pickles were fried with a cornmeal batter and were very crispy. The devils on horseback were deep fried shrimp that were bacon wrapped with cream cheese and jalapeños inside. They were good as well. We told our waiter, Roman, that we would not be drinking, but that we would tip him well. We had a young lady that joined our table because of the crowd It seemed at that point, Roman's full attention was on her, as when he approached the table he was only asking her if she needed anything. Our glasses with tonic water were empty. Rather than bring us fresh drinks, he chose to bring us the bottles of tonic and a glass of ice to share. We ordered an entree of catfish and crawfish etouffee, which was also hot and delicious. At this point, Roman continued to walk past our table and ignored the empty ice water glasses, tableware, and our empty tonic water drinks. He brought by two more tonic waters, but no ice. I ended up walking to the bar to get two glasses of ice. The other empty glasses, napkins, and tableware remained on the table as Roman continued to walk back and forth in front of the table. When we decided to tab out, he then told us the gratuity was already added, as we were part of the Ravens group. That would explain why we did not get the service we expected. Had he given us better service, he would have ended up with an extra $20 bill in his pocket. Yes, there was a large crowd there, but he walked past our table numerous times without picking up the dirty dishes. They were still there when we left. The food was good and the atmosphere was great. The experience could have been a knock out of the park had we received better service.

This place is the best. I went there today for lunch. Service was very friendly. Got seated and waitress was there in 2 minutes to take our drink order. So many great choices on the menu. We started out with the fried pickle chips. They were really good. Just what you would get in Louisiana or The gulf coast states. I ordered the Gator tacos with a cup of chicken,sausage gumbo on the side. Did not disappoint. The Gator was deep fried and delicious. The Gumbo was very good. Highly recommend this restaurant for Cajun food.

Great spot to watch a sports game!! The moonshine drinks are dangerous. The atmosphere is loud but it's a sports bar. The bar area is pretty big and the tvs are spread across the restaurant pretty good. I had the alligator bites, Louisiana platter and their hush puppies! Pretty good flavors and the staff is very helpful with choosing the best dishes. GET THE MOONSHINE DRINK!

After a few suggestions we tried it and were pleasantly surprised. We tried the buffalo chicken sandwich and the cajundillas, both dishes were really good. The boudin balls were just ok. Plenty of tvs for football games.

Reliable sports bar with TVs at each booth, decent apps and cold beer! Would definitely recommend going here if you're a sports fanatic. The food isn't bad either - would recommend the boudin balls!

Thinking Dad could probably eat crawfish etoufee, I went online and found @walkons among those who serve it and have outdoor seating. Happy hour ends at 6pm, a plus! I had the Colada Rocks, my husband had the Moonshine Swirl and Dad had the Strawberry Lemonade. Both cocktails were $3 off. We shared the Tuna Tini as our appetizer. Such a deal for $5! Dad and I both had the crawfish etoufee. It was the first time for Dad and he finished the whole bowl! It was slightly on the salty side. My husband had the blackened catfish atchafalya with gumbo and salad. Dad's first time to have the beignet too! Successful choice for dinner! Definitely, have more to try.

Everytime I visit it is always a good time. I can't wait for football season to start!! I decided to order outside the norm from my usual routine. I ordered the "Buffalo Gator Tacos" I swear Gator should be on every menu in San Antonio. It was delicious, and I just might make this my "go-to" order. It hit the spot and yes it was delicious. I also ordered a "Michalada w/modelo beer" and it helped curve my mellow mood into a better one. The ladies were very sweet and polite.

This is a wonderful place. GM, Cynthia, is hospitable and very customer oriented. I noticed how friendly the staff was and how well they worked together! Restaurant is extremely clean and well ran! Food is generous and great value!

Great place to watch sports and the wait staff seem to have been chosen in the basis of how they look in short shorts, but nonetheless they work hard and are attentive and friendly, especially during a packed Super Bowl game day. I'm thinking of applying to work here I still look good in shorts! During the Super Bowl our friends came for the multiple screens to view the game. Plenty of room for a large group. I had a couple of Cuba libres, an Avery Island salad (a little too sweet) and a Hangover burger. Good food a bit above bar food approaching Gastro pub but not there yet.

went this past Tuesday & Zoe was our server. She was one of the best servers I've ever had! So patient and sweet with my little messy kid & gave really great dinner & drink suggestions. The whole place was busy and we were extremely well taken care of the entire time! The shrimp tacos were so good! 10/10 will come again soon!

Went here with my wife for a birthday lunch. I am glad we came early! This place packs up fast even though they have a nice amount of space here. No lunch specials today due to St Patty's day and all. I had Catfish Atchafalaya and my wife had the Grilled chicken club. This place has large portions and it was so good! I have to admit the club had too much chicken in it. To me a club needs to be balanced and not overly stuffed with one of the ingredients used. But that's just how I view a well done club. The club was good but the chicken dominated the sandwich. I guess we may be the minority in that opinion. The staff were all nice and attentive. Not too overwhelming. There's televisions almost every where. A great place to get my Cajun fix!

Has amazing food and great customer service and really nice waiters and bartender like Carina hannah and maddie. It is a great place just to sit down and relax it has fun games like pop a shot claw games and candy machines. If you ever go would highly recommend the sliders, Tuscan chicken, and the burgers. It also has a great patio for dogs and other animals.

Visited this location again and was very pleased with our server Juju she was fast friendly, and had our order to us in no time! It tasted great. Everything was exactly how we wanted. It couldn't have asked for better.

The accommodations here at Walk-On's were phenomenal! Thanks so much for waiting on all of us so quickly. Our food was great and football was perfect. We'll be definitely coming back next season!

This was my first time here. It was your average sport bar restaurant feel. Food was decent all around for what it was. It can be loud so just be aware. Nothing special about the service honestly. Just a solid quick place to swing by for a lil Cajun taste if your taste buds wants a little tingle. The fried shrimp in the bayou pasta was nicely spiced.

I go there often and love the food/service. Highly recommend stopping in when the bartender Hanna is working.

What an amazing sports bar experience! More TVs than you can count. Your typically going to see 10 TVs every direction you look. They have almost every beer on tap but one of my favorites is the blueberry coconut mojito signature drink. The bathrooms are stylish and super clean. I love the interior brick design and the kids can play pop-a-shot when they want to. Some of the specialties that I like are the Tuscan chicken, pasta Alfredo, Cajun ribeye, mango tuna bowl.... So many options to choose from. The staff is very cool and smart and in general it is a wonderful experience!

Another place that we tried out just because we were nearby, but we were pleasantly surprised. It is pub food, but pretty decent and with a Louisiana spin, so much more unique than cookie-cutter places like Applebees or Chili's. We got the BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich, Pastalaya, and Surf & Turf Burger. The food was good and we love getting menu items that you can't get everywhere, so we may be back. I mean, how many restaurants serve hand battered alligator?

The place has lots of TVs, so it is good for watching a game. The food was good. My redfish tacos were pretty good. They came with chips and queso. I asked for salsa, and the server said they don't have salsa. What?? How can you serve tacos, chips and queso, but not have salsa? My husband liked his blackened shrimp caesar salad. The server did the bare minimum. Request to Management: Get some salsa!

Food was great, and we appreciated the crew for being so patient with us as a party of 22.

My new favorite lunch spot. The food is always good and I haven't ordered the same thing for a second time yet. I usually sit at the bar because Hanna and Ari are amazing! Great service, lots of laughs, and both are hard working bartenders that know their stuff. Everyone at my office is a plan of this place and we'll all be making it a regular lunch spot.

The food is pretty good. The service is good - waitresses butter hanging out of their "shorts". You may like that. Me? I would rather my dining companion receive all my attention. I'm ok with clothed waitstaff.

The husband and I met friends here for lunch. They have a huge menu! None of us had ever been here so we tried a lot of things. I had the chicken, bacon, avocado sandwich and it was probably the best one I have had in a long time. They added cheese and spices to it but the way they made it and the kick to it was phenomenal. My hubs had the mahi mahi and I'm pretty sure it had a mango mix on top of it. I'm not a big of that particular fish bc it's so fishy. I thought it was prepared really well. The spinach artichoke dip was really great but the house made chips to go with it were so yummy! My husband had (if my memory serves) pulled pork balls. They were spicy but so good. If you like bar food? This place is really great. They have alligator and other really amazing things on the menu. I was impressed by the service, the restaurant was impressively clean and although 5 large TVs all played sports one was dedicated to animals playing, kids pranks, funny things. It was a lovely lunch!

I'm disappointed that, based on my last visit (10 Jun 24), Walk-On's, one of my previous favorite spots, seems to be on the decline. The red beans and rice were served cold. The breading on the shrimp for the fried shrimp poboy, had no crispness; the breading just slid off the small to medium shrimp. Tasted little or no seasoning. Service was spotty at best; took a very long time to get the attention of my server to get a drink refill. She nicely told me she had been busy taking phone orders. And, no, they were not shorthanded. There were maybe a half dozen or more servers who were seemingly having a party in the kitchen area; lots of noise, little or no action. Anyway, based on this visit, I think we can make our poboys at home with better results. Too bad; this was one of my favorites. P.S. On a previous call in order, one of the items--a cheeseburger of some kind--had its' bun omitted. How does this happen? Come on, Walkons, get back to paying attention and keeping us loyal customers; you're better than this.....
