We stayed here during the weekend of our wedding as did several of the people in our party! The rooms were all we needed as we were really only there to sleep. The rooms were clean, and the staff were very accommodating. ||We also held our rehearsal dinner at Walker House and the food was absolutely fantastic! I still dream about the corn souffle. ||We highly recommend the Walker House!

I DJd a wedding reception here, and it is one of my new favorite venues. Talk about a historical building with modern-day touches. Kathy was a terrific host and very accommodating. I would tell you how terrific the building is, but I will let my pictures do that. My wife and I are now planning a day trip here to explore. The food is legendary in this part of the state.

The Walker House is the best! My wife and I had our wedding reception here in August and it was the perfect venue. Kathy and Dan were so wonderfully accommodating, friendly and helpful with all of our finer details. The food was amazing, the staff was so friendly, and the ambience is relaxed. We're both eager to go back and stay at the Walker House! 10/10 would recommend. Thanks for everything Kathy and Dan!

I'm ashamed that I'm just getting around to writing this! 5 stars! We booked a one night stay over the 4th of July holiday as we were moving along to Chicago on a road trip. Kathy was such an attentive host, even before we got there! I accidentally booked the incorrect suite, and she contacted me right away to confirm what our needs were and what room would best accommodate them. I had completely booked incorrectly and Kathy was kind and gracious in moving us to something more appropriate. The bed was huge, comfy and the room was cozy and clean. Perfect for what we needed. We also had the luck of being the only guests for that night, so it was extremely peaceful. She also had great suggestions for restaurants and because of her we had some of the best Italian food we've ever had. Mineral Point is a small artists community and a little gem of a town. We'll definitely be back and we'll be staying at the Walker house again when we do. Kathy and Dan, thank you again!

Held my daughter's bridal shower brunch and everyone LOVED the food! It was all so delicious! We had a great time and Kathy and staff were amazing! Kathy is very easy to work with and friendly! The place was very clean and bathroom was well stocked. Additionally, the renovations put into Walker House are beautiful! I love what they have done! Beautiful masonry, hand crafted woodwork and furniture, and decor throughout is very nice! They offer lodging but since I didn't stay overnight, I didn't leave a rating. While touring the place, I saw some of the renovated rooms and they are very nice. I would highly recommend the Walker House for your next event.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at this historic Mineral Point property. The Cornish pasty was truly wonderful! The apple pie ice cream, made on the premises, was fabulous. Service was top notch. A hidden Wisconsin gem! Thank you Kathy and staff.

We fell in love with the Walker House at first sight. The romance and beauty of this building made a perfect gathering space for friends and family on our wedding day. Dan and Kathy, along with the entire Walker House staff, are special people who provided exceptional hospitality to make our reception truly amazing. It was important for us to serve a unique and made-from-scratch meal, so the local, grass-fed Cornish pasties were the perfect option! Our guests enjoyed exploring the spaces of the Walker House, from the pub and its caves, to the game room, outdoor bonfire, the kids' room, and, of course, the dance hall. If you're looking for a genuine, intimate, love-centered experience for a special event, we highly recommend inquiring with the Walker House.

This place is simply adorable. The old stone walls, charming rustic decor, and wildflower landscape make for a picturesque experience. The old-school hospitality can’t be beat, with a friendly welcome and homemade cookies in our room. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the bed was a little firm for me but some people prefer that. Also to note, the stone walls make for a lot of natural humidity, which the hosts have thoughtfully accounted for with window air conditioners and dehumidifiers in every guest room. The location can’t be beat, within easy walking distance to historic downtown Mineral Point. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling to the region. It’s unforgettable and just an absolute delight.

Yelp
My family of four: two adults, two children just finished a four night stay here. We wanted to have a local getaway within a days drive of home. When I first saw the listing with the excellent reviews and history of the house I felt this would be a fun place to stay. After spending the four nights my initial feeling was right on. This was the perfect place for our family to stay. Kathy greeted us when we arrived and helped us figure out where to have dinner that first night. We stayed in rooms 10 and 11. Those rooms have their own private bath and are on the second floor. It was as though we had a family apartment. The adults room had a king sized bed and the children shared a queen. Their room had a scavenger hunt within the stone walls, which they really enjoyed. After dinner the boys played table tennis and pop shots basketball. Kathy also treated them to an ice cream cone. Very sweet. There were also plenty of board games to play in the evenings. Breakfast was yummy and coffee aplenty! They do offer WiFi, but no screens, so it is easy to bond with your family and have some quality time together. This location was within walking distance to the swimming pool/park and Pendarvis (which is still closed). It is about a half an hour drive to House on the Rock, Cave of the Mounds, and Taliesin. Lots of fun side stops on the way to any of these places. Kathy is an awesome cook. We feel so fortunate to have met her, Dan, and Bobby Jo on our trip. Mineral Point is a beautiful town and I thank them for preserving and sharing such a wonderful Wisconsin landmark with us.

Yelp
The owner went above & beyond to accommodate our last minute carryout order for 6. The meal was amazing! She fixed us a variety of pasties with yummy homemade pasty sauce, delicious salad & saffron rolls. For dessert we divided several goodies so we could each sample them: Figgyhobbin, peach pasty, apple pasty & mini cookies. Everyone loved everything!

Yelp
Stopped here on a group tour. Service and staff was great! Our meal included bruschetta, spinach and artichoke toasts, organic fresh picked lettuce salad, pass-tea (pot pie like pastry chicken was great) followed by strawberry ice cream and brownie sundae for dessert. Everything was delicious, a great historic landmark ! Service is by reservation only for all group sizes and they also offer lodging.

Yelp
Kathy and Dan are welcoming hosts to your stay at this wonderful, historical inn. The Walker House has been home to many, many visitors since it opened its doors as a pub and inn in the mid 1800's. The Inn has guest rooms in various configurations that will work for singles, couples, and families. We stayed in room 10, which is a bedroom with a very comfortable king sized bed and it's own private bath en suite. Though it was a chilly 24 degrees F outside, Kathy had our room and bath warmed for us when we arrived. The home made cookies waiting for us were a very nice, delicious, touch. A continental breakfast featuring home made baked goods was also delicious! Best banana bread I've had in a long time. The Walker House is very close to the shops and restaurants in town, and also close to Pendarvis Historical Site. Mineral Point is also a short drive from Taliesin and The House on the Rock. The discount for multiple nights was a factor in our decision to stay here, and we are glad we did! Next time we are in the area, we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
We stayed in a large corner room with a king size bed. After a day of handmade ramen, a hike in the beautiful state park, and dinner of Wisconsin beef and cheese, I was ready for sleep. But first I had to take a shower. I neglected to bring the little bottle of shampoo and conditioner, and the hand soap, to the shared bathroom down the hall. Inside the bathroom, I saw the personal effects of fellow travelers. Though I recognized I was stepping into what was, at best, an ethically grey area, I decided it wouldn't be so bad to use a little bit of these guests' shampoo. Later on I lay back in the comfortable king size bed, relaxing in the old bones of the historic inn. There was a loud knocking on the door. Shit, I thought, the other guests figured out I used their shampoo, and their pissed. A male voice called out loudly, "Tornado! You have 1 minute to come downstairs!" In a blind panic, I took only my camera. My girlfriend and I followed the innkeeper, Dan, down multiple flights of stairs, through the dining room, and down into the very old basement of the Walker House. There we were lead into a man-made cave, where the other guests were already seated. I wondered if they could smell my fear, or maybe their own shampoo in my hair. Kathy, Dan's wife, was seated in the cave, wearing a yellow teeshirt with the handwritten phrase, "I survived the tsunami," in red. She asked if I heard the tornado. I listened, and in the cave's echo I did hear the tornado. "Yes I hear it", I told her. She said that was just the town of Mineral Point's emergency siren. While we spoke, a five hundred foot wide tornado tore through neighboring Dodgeville, and ripped up a huge grain combine. I had never before been so close to the destructive power of nature, and it was Kathy and Dan that kept me safe. Kathy also gave me homemade M&M cookies, and loaf of strawberry bread for the ride home. They were also very understanding when we saw a derecho (line of thunderstorms, accompanied by the possibility of tornados) approaching the next day and decided to get the heck out of Dodgeville. We will be back in Mineral Point at some point in the near future, for the mellow artist vibe, the handmade ramen, to float in Cox Hollow Lake in a tube, and see that waterfall, and when we come back, we would love to return to the Walker House. It's got great history, clean, comfortable, affordable rooms, two of the best innkeepers of all time (both of whom are Maineiacs) and really delicious homemade baked goods. Did I mention the tornado-proof 200 year old caves?

Yelp
We were coming last-minute to Mineral Point and were glad to find lodging on short notice. It was an okay price for Mineral Point historic lodging, too (less than $100). The place is ancient outside (one of the oldest buildings in town, predating Wisconsin statehood) but very clean inside. Everything is new, floors, doors, hardware -- there seems to have been an extensive rehab of the whole structure. The walls and window wells of the building are 18 inches thick and the structure is built INTO the side of the cliff. The decor has lots of wood. Unique to any place I've ever stayed, the furniture is made from wood cut from 30 miles away or less. The bedside tables, the wall brackets, the picture hanging rails, all are made nearby from local trees. The heat was good and the room Wi-Fi worked fine. The free breakfast was ample. Walker House is right behind what is probably the best restaurant/brewpub in town, Brewery Creek, which we found to be very convenient.

Yelp
I have stayed here a few times and absolutely love it! Kathy, Dan and Bobby Jo take great care of their visitors. The beds are comfy, the price is decent, and it's quiet and peaceful. There are shared bathrooms but I've never had an issue getting in when needed. Make sure you order their pasties to take home because they're the best in WI! Mineral Point is also one of the friendliest towns you'll visit. The Walker House has great charm and is the perfect place to relax.

Yelp
I enjoy getting to know Wisconsin by finding little towns I've never been to before, then spending a couple days exploring them. I can't remember how I came across the Walker House but I imagine I was merely searching online -I just remember finding the reviews and looking at their website. It had great reviews and looked unusual so I emailed them my reservation. The Walker House is like a B&B in that they rented me a room and fed me, and I certainly felt like a guest in their expansive home (which one cannot simply walk into as if it were a hotel). Reservations must be made, at least a day in advance, to stay or eat there. Once in, it's like being in a great old boarding house. The ground floor contains a dining hall and old pub (with two small caves acting as pub nooks). The second floor holds a second dining hall, the kitchen, bathrooms, and a couple guest rooms. On the third floor you'll find the remainder of the guest rooms and a few bathrooms. The bathrooms are shared, and the U-shape of the building encompasses a beautiful outdoor stone patio with tables, chairs and a chimenea. Most everything in the inn is stone or wood, clean and well-maintained. It is a beautiful building to explore, with wonderful art throughout, framed by staff using wood from their workshop, where they also build tables and wood accents for the inn. The owners and staff are incredibly warm and friendly, and getting to know them was the highlight of my visit. Such care is put into the inn, the art, and the food -everything created from scratch, everything shared with the mindful intent to welcome the guest. (I should mention that I was the lone guest during my stay, but if that hadn't been the case I'm sure meeting the other lodgers would've added to the social atmosphere. If you've enjoyed staying in hostels while traveling, I'm sure you'll love this place.) Whether you want to stay the weekend or come for dinner (alone or with 30 friends), give them a call. The inn is walking distance to the historic High Street of Mineral Point, lined with lovely little shops, taverns, and galleries. I will definitely be visiting the Walker House again and again!

Yelp
The Walker House Catered my wedding, the most important day of my life. Kathy, the owner, made sure I got everything I wanted and she did her best and delivering it. The food was out of this world and so was the desert. Most, if not all of the food is local and the buns, bkaed goods, etc. is made by the Walker House. I have ready horror stories of weddings and catering, if you want the best food and the nicest people--- go to the Walker House for catering or even for a dinner, brunch, etc. I honestly will miss contacting Kathy, she was THE best and so is the Walker House staff.

Yelp
The current owners are still finishing up renovations but have done an excellent job bringing this place back to its glory. Everywhere you look are beautiful photos. Our room (#2) has a comfy king bed and great sunlight. We came back and relaxed in one of the caves with some wine and a book after dinner. Rates are affordable and there are plenty of bathrooms, which are shared. We would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Our stay Saturday night thru Sunday morning in November was perfect. Our hosts Cathy and Dan were most accommodating and welcoming. After Saturday lunch at the nearby Brew Pub and touring the art galleries and library in the picturesque historic downtown we were treated by Dan to drinks in the cozy lounge in front of the fire. we walked to the Mineral Point Dining Company restaurant for an extraordinary dinner. The comfortable rooms at the Walker House are beautifully furnished; the shared modern bathrooms are excellent. For such a historic old building, Walker House is amazingly up to date and unique. It is intimate, and perfect for our seven person book club. Our book discussion was after an ample breakfast prepared by our hosts. We definitely will be back, possibly for a family reunion weekend. The activities are endless all seasons of the year. Madison WI is one hour away, but the nearer attractions are plenty. Our first Walker House experience was when the Southwestern Wisconsin book fair took place there this summer.

Yelp
Joe and Sue Dickinson are midway through restoring this 42 room historic hotel that dates from the territorial days of Wisconsin. We had the traditional Cornish Pasty in front of the fireplace. Small town ambiance, very romantic! Soon they will have more rooms for overnight lodging.
