Google
Incredible! They only take card payments so be sure you have one but service was extremely friendly and efficient. Phone chargers available and plenty of seating in the cafeteria. Amazing food too. Stop in!!

Joseph Wassman

Google
One of the coolest places downtown for some chili cheese dogs!

Aaron Andrusko

Google
A Chicago dog made without love. The bun was dry and broke apart. The chopped onions were the bitter middle of the onion. The dog room temp, is that even safe? The neon relish is nasty. Step it up guys, that was a tragedy.

Austin Gillmann

Google
little awkward to get too, it's on the first floor of the north star center within the cafeteria, tucked away in the corner to the right of the actual cafeteria stand - as for the food - wonderful variety of vienna and regular dogs as well as brats! chili is amazing also! only wish would be for a menu explaining the toppings available (mac and cheese and breadcrumbs and hot sauce is a combo i learned up north!)

Google
Always good food at Walkin’ Dog. Today had one of my favorites chili dogs and a shake. Chocolate Caramel. Tasty lunch. Always enjoy visiting when I’m downtown.

Alan Smola

Google
Super affordable lunch spot - combo with chips and a malt for about $11 bucks. Check this place out!

Google
Excellent all-beef Vienna with everything! Want another one for dinner : )

Google
Solid value dogs with all the fixings. Confirmed open 11/9/22 (moved locations towards bottom of escalator now)

Yelp
So good and so fun! Walkin' Dog is a skyway restaurant that serves hot dogs/brats of all kinds + soft pretzels and nachos. My boyfriend and I both got a Vienna Polish dog with chili + cheese on top and it did not disappoint! We also got a ball park dog with cheese, onions, and a pickle on top - yum! I would suggest doing the Vienna Polish dog just because I think it's higher quality meat and was better in my opinion. The gentleman who owns/runs Walkin' Dog is so appreciative of all his customers and made the experience so enjoyable - I will be back just to see him again (and because I see another chili dog in my future)! Definitely a gem in the Minneapolis skyways!

Yelp
I was watching a food special where they were explaining what makes a Chicago dog and I passed by Walkin' Dog about 1,000 times over the last 10 years working in downtown Minneapolis. I think the guy behind the counter owned the place and he put the Vienna Beef hot dog in a poppy seed bun and put a plethora of toppings on it. Hot peppers were pretty spicy, which was great. A pickle spear and two tomato wedges were on it. Some chopped onions were on it too. Spicy mustard added a little kick to it and some sweet relish with a sprinkling of celery salt on top. Spectacular crunch of the dog and it got messy pretty quick, I think if I have another one, I think I will have to use a knife and fork. Great service and good prices and a great dog for my first Chicago Dog.

Yelp
You would have difficulty finding a better Chicago dog in Chicago. The prices are extremely reasonable, and the dogs are delicious! The customer service is the best you'll ever find in the land of nice. The chocolate malts are also incredible. I was there for a four-day conference and I ate there twice a day all four days.

Yelp
As a self proclaimed Chicago dog savant, I can confidently say they make a better Chicago dog than most places in Chicago. Real Vienna beef dogs with all the best toppings for an unbelievably low price. My favorite lunch spot in the city by a long shot!

Yelp
Great Chili dog...I had been craving one with a Root beer. The dog is steamed bun was fresh as was the chili. I requested mustard with light onions and sport peppers. The have multiple choices for dogs including the Chicago dog. The owner is friendly and seating is plentiful. Located at the main floor in the food court of the Crown Plaza. Parking can be an issue ( downtown Minneapolis).

Yelp
I had the Johnsonville brat with onions and mustard it was decent. Nothing amazing straight simple.

Yelp
I'm in love with this little hole-in-the-wall, no-frills hot dog stand. Blindly following my pregnancy cravings (Chicago dog, STAT!), I took the time out of my day to Google "chicago dog minneapolis." And lo, here's Walkin' Dog a mere two buildings away from my workplace. It's tucked into a corner of the Northstar Building's street level food court (I had no idea all that stuff was in there). The guy was a little heavy handed with the celery salt, but otherwise they've got all the fixin's for a Chicago dog situation. O sweet, sweet fluorescent relish. O pickle spear. O brown mustard. My fetus and my hormones thank you. Because it's "Wiener Wednesday" I got my dog, a bag of Doritos, and a Cherry coke for $3.25, including tax. Today I am truly a wiener winner. Bonus: check the website for the full and awesome menu.

Yelp
Who would have thought that a hotdog place could be so damn good! I typically will get the chili dog... I don't know what it is about that place, but it makes me soooooo hungry! Love going there with friends or coworkers, it's a fun atmosphere and it always seems to be pretty busy! But you get through the line quickly, cuz lets be honest, it's pretty easy to prepare a hotdog ;-)

Yelp
One of the pleasures of eating lunch Downtown is discovering neat little places like the Walkin Dog. I got 2 ballpark style hot dogs and a caramel shake. The hot dogs tasted good, nothing extraordinary but the shake was fantastic, better than a DQ thats for sure. It was mixed in an old school malt mixer which is the best way, and was nice and thick, and nice and cold. This was the best shake I've had in awhile and I got a 20 oz one here for under 3 bucks, which is a steal for this kind of shake. I'll be trying out their Chicago Style hot dog made with Vienna Beef next time I'm here, I'll let you know how it is. Unfortunately though, this place, like many Skyway type shops closes by 4 PM, and isn't open at all on the weekend. I actually got here maybe 10 minutes before closing, and was very impressed with the customer service. Really nice guy, didn't seem to mind at all that I came in when I did.

Yelp
Great place for a chili dog and I would certainly come back again once I need another one. Treated myself to a milkshake. Lately I've been getting shakes about every other week at various downtown locations. Next time want one I will come straight here. It's thick and delicious unlike some of the other runny shakes I've had downtown. A+ to Walkin' Dog on food and beverage.

Yelp
Last night I had a "pantry-to-floor" incident with a jar of sauerkraut. Today, telling the story, I had a pretty primal need to go have cylindrical steak with kraut. Enter the Walkin' Dog. It is exactly what it needs to be. There are multiple choices for dogs and toppings and they have daily specials for things on the cheap. I haven't had a malt yet, but the malt of the week this week was Peanut-butter Chocolate and I thought about it. They have good Chicago dogs as well with Vienna Beef dogs and the poppy seed roll. The chili is hind of heavy handed with the beans. It's OK on a dog, but I wouldn't eat a bowl of it. Overall, a good hot dog experience and a great way to quell kraut urges.

Yelp
Such a nice little place in the middle of the shopping center. Perfectly good!! I had two turkey dogs and the owner made them really quickly and confidently. They have the basics when it comes to dogs, and they definitely do it right!! This is definitely a little place you need to go to if you want some hotdogs or nachos!

Yelp
Wow I had a 1/4 pounder with everything on it. It was a life changing event! This is one of the best places to eat in town. The owner is there working every day and the food is superb. This is where I bring all my friends to eat downtown.

Yelp
On the ground floor of my office building is this little food court area. We have Chinese, pizza and hot dogs. Not just any hot dogs but Walkin' Dogs. This place could rival even the best hot dog vendor in NYC (you know what I'm talkin' about). Not only do they do great hot dogs they also make great malts. The peanut butter chocolate is my favorite. I only allow myself one a year and it never disappoints. If you want an affordable lunch look no further.

Yelp
Best dogs that I have found downtown. Its located in the Northstar building near the entrance to the Crowne Plaza. I am pretty much a chili dog guy, but the Chicago dogs looked pretty good from what I saw being made.

Yelp
I love hot dogs! Especially chili dogs! Today I was introduced to one of the best chili dogs I've ever had. The name of the place - Walkin' Dog. I like mine with cheese, mustard, onions and chili, and maybe a little Frank's hot sauce (when my stomach can handle it). So today at the Walkin' Dog I had three ball park dogs with Chili, Cheese, and Mustard - awesome. They used shredded cheese and not cheese sauce, which is perfect, and a good amount of mustard and chili. They use Vienna Beef dogs and warmed poppy seed buns, and have a great variety of toppings and styles (like the Chicago). The only thing that kept Walkin' Dog from earning 5 stars was the chili. I like Coney Island style without beans, and if they upgraded it'd be one of the best dogs around!

Yelp
Best dogs downtown. Quick and easy with nice people behind the counter. Buy one get one half off on Tuesdays and Thursday's.
google avatar

Morgan A.

Yelp
This is a great small place inside the Northstar Centre. It's small hole in the wall but the hot dogs are very good and the prices are very reasonable. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone but a word of caution is that the cheese curds are pretty awful (freezer burned taste and non-crispy exterior) and don't bother with the malts, he tends to not add enough malt to make it any different from a shake and also tends to be inadequate with the flavourings. I had a strawberry and halfway through, I didn't even notice a difference between vanilla and strawberry. Long and short, grab a hot dog and a drink, get the rest of your meal somewhere else.

Yelp
Stellar dogs and Dāv, the owner, is always there cranking out dogs to order. He's a true dog pro, even without an umbrella and wheels. Plus you don't have to suffer inclimate weather to get your dog and malt on!
google avatar

Cody B.

Yelp
Exactly what you'd expect. Their Chicago Dog is right on point. "Dragged through the garden" is spot on. Price is great too. Tuesday get one half off with the purchase of one at full price. I'm pretty certain this place will soon become a staple for me. Would definitely recommend.

Keith S.

Yelp
This is a great hole in the skyway wall lunch spot that I forget about far too often. As the name implies, known for their chicago dogs. Good stuff and definitely satisfies the craving. I'm always all about the sweets - and the hidden gem of this spot are the shakes and malts. Chocolate butterscotch. Peanut butter chocolate. Caramel. And more. Pretty economical for the location. Give it a shot.
google avatar

Jason A.

Yelp
Great spot if you are in a hurry. Was great in the 90's and amazingly nothing has changed! That isn't a criticism. You know what you are going to get, and you get it fast.
google avatar

Andy J.

Yelp
When I'm in the office this is the only place I'll generally eat. Its about a 15 minute walk from the office and I stumbled on it accidentally, and I'm sure glad I did. There is always some sort of daily special so eating there is always really affordable. Chicago style dogs is all I've ever done there and they are nearly perfect. The only complaints are sometimes the guy puts a little to much celery salt on the dogs and the dogs themselves could be warmer.
google avatar

Steve G.

Yelp
This is the only place in mpls that knows what a hotdog is all about. Dave will help out if confusion sets it. Confusion with a hotdog you say? Cant recommend highly enough that you track down this hidden treasure. Thank you Dave for what you do.
google avatar

Matt F.

Yelp
Dogs are excellent and at a good price for downtown. Check out the shakes and malts which keep me and others coming back.

Yelp
Best hotdogs and shakes found ANYWHERE! Dogs put together just the way YOU want them, right on the spot! The shakes are hand turned the old fashioned way and there is no skimping on the variety and quality of flavors. I've brought many friends and family here and everyone agrees...great taste and value!!!

James S.

Yelp
I'm from Chicago and I was delighted that they carry Vienna Beef products. The dog was good and true to Chicago style. The only thing missing was Chicago.

Craig C.

Yelp
East to get to through the skyway system if you are looking for a tasty dog or two as a quick and economical lunch. Another reviewer called it a "hole in the wall" and it is easy to overlook, but once you've had lunch there you'll be back.

Michael R.

Yelp
First visit. Had their 2 ballpark friday special and vanilla shack. Quick service. Very good food.

Ron E.

Yelp
I go to Chicago three times a year and have done so since 1985. I LOVE!!! Chicago Hot Dogs and have went to ALL the places in Chicago that I have ever seen, or heard of in reviews and Walkin' Dog still has the best Chicago Dog I have ever had! Its a real treat. I think what sets it apart is the owner "Dave" is totally committed on customer service and providing the best product. Most, if not all, of the top places use Vienna Beef dogs and great fixings (with the addictive dark green relish) but Dave crafts each dog as you want it (with more or less) of the quality ingredients. He is never impatient or stingy...you get what you want, and thus it's the best. So, you don't need to go to Chicago for the best Chicago Dog...it's in Minneapolis. After writing this my mouth is watering and I am off to Walkin' Dog.

Ronald M.

Yelp
This is long overdue. I am a Chicago Dog nut and have had theme everywhere including Chicago and at my home with all the best ingredients and there is no place better than Walkin' Dog. Hands down. Way to go Dave!
