A Wine Novice’s Weekend Guide to the Walla Walla Valley | Eater Seattle

"Served twice daily by Alaska Airlines to Sea–Tac with roughly 70-minute flight times and fares often under $200 round-trip depending on advance purchase. Ground options include a Flixbus service to Pasco (with about a two-hour layover) connecting to Walla Walla via Amtrak Thruway bus or a local shuttle; the piece presents the airport as a convenient regional access point for travelers coming from Seattle." - Meg van Huygen

Google
Great place! Lots to do if you like coffee or wine. It's a nice airport. Cool aircraft often visit the airport, like the B-25 and B-17 pictured

This is lance B. Moreland my hacker issue is getting worse I never got my refund for the wire fraud that was committed on my phone my number was wiped out completely they never refunded me TSA Im done with this why I don't trust the government in the first place I understand it was not approved by my girlfriend case manager so I realized I would have got arrested of I came my hackers have made the situation worse I can't even keep a phone for a week anymore due it just wipes.

Two flights a day to and from Seattle…

I think maybe they are understaffed, overworked, or underpaid. I just have never really had a smooth chill experience here. Maybe it's me, but I'm always not quite on time, or I have too many rolls of quarters, or why are your electronics all smashed in the bottom of your bag? Just kinda give me a hard time asking a question or two. Never ok, you good go. Also, the flight times and frequency are no good either too early or too late. The terminal is great and I love free parking. Just all the other stuff. The fire fighters are great!

Google
I love the WW airport! 3 reasons: First, the airport is small and with only 3 flights per day, or doesn't get very crowded or busy. Second, all parking is free and there is plenty of it. Finally, the best bakery in town is the only food establishment at the airport! Whether you like ham & cheese croissant, quiche, sandwiches, or cookies, they have it! It is always a win-win flying in to WW Regional Airport!

Google
If you plan on flying into, or out of walla walla, expect to get delayed, or have your flight canceled regularly. I fly to and from every year, and this airport is so disorganized that flights are always delayed or canceled, and they only have 1 gate. Seatac has walla walla on last priority as well.

Free. And wow. Loud pro dragsters.

Google
Very small airport with limited amenities and only flights to/from SEA. The Alaska Checkin counter closes 40 min prior to departure so you’re out of luck if you’re even a few minutes past that. You’d think an extremely small airport would be easier and have closer to a 30min cutoff time for checked luggage.

Yelp
Good airport and easy flight. We usually come here to visit family in Oregon. Only an hour and a half to get to Elgin, Oregon. Only 2 flights per day. We rent a car through Budget and they always have great customer service and variety of cars. The only complaint was the TSA is slow to check you in and I always need to be patted down which I don't like. There is also "no" TSA pre so many times you need to take off your shoes and pull out your computer. Its a small and convenient airport and easy to find.

Yelp
If I could give negative stars I would. The Tsa is incompetent and they all just want to get off work! They closed the alaska counter early and then refused to print a boarding pass for me and then called us straight up stupid in her words because we came only 1 hour early for our flight... Then she called my two friends who were with me bitches as they walked away and I overheard them. They were of no help and continued to aggressively speak to me! They also continued to lie about "laws" of closing the gate before boarding an hour prior which is incorrect and the law is actually 30 minutes prior. Worst experience I have ever had. I am truly appalled and I have flown out of this airport probably 30 times, I will not be flying back out of this airport again.

Yelp
Yes, it's a small airport with only one terminal, but there's something really charming about it! Plus, it's super convenient that there's an airport in Walla Walla, a vital wine destination. We flew into Walla Walla Regional Airport from Seattle, and it was about a 40-minute trip versus the five-hour road trek it would've taken to get here! If you want a speedy trip to Walla Walla, this is how to do it. Alaska Airlines is the only airline for Walla Walla, so there's only one terminal. The same staff that check you in are the same staff that load up your luggage and make announcements at the gate. The TSA line was super easy and fast, and the officers were soooo friendly. I was surprised by how friendly the agents were because TSA employees at the airport aren't exactly the friendliest people. The airport is only 10-15 minutes away from downtown Walla Walla by car. There are no shops or anywhere to get food, but there is a rental car desk area. Make sure to plan ahead for transportation when you arrive, as ride share takes a lot longer than what we're used to in big cities. I enjoyed flying in and outta here, making our wine weekend all the more easy and pleasant.

Yelp
Tiny regional airport which will get you to Seattle and Seattle only twice a day via Alaska Air [Horizon]. About zero amenities at this spot. Downside - if visibility is limited then there will be no take offs or landings. If you can swing it, especially if you are coming over for wine tasting then a 1 hour flight vs a 5 hour drive from Seattle is a good trade-off. Note - only Avis-Budget at the airport and cars are crazy expensive - be aware! Final bonus - you really only need to show up 30 minutes before your flight - enjoy that time for another glass of wine.

Debra P.

Yelp
They no longer let you curb check your carry on. Only people in first class get priority to have carry on and a lucky few others.

Yelp
I would be more of a fan if the airlines did not hate Walla Walla so much. How can an airport survive if there are only two (I said two) flight a day and only one destination to choose from? If the airline(s) is(are) trying to close the airport down, they are doing a pretty efficient job of it. (I know, I am referring to only one airline--ALASKA--as it is the only airline willing to fly in to Walla Walla.) There is a restaurant at the airport (Dominick's) and at least two Car Rental Agencies, at this point in time, a couple of vending machines and bathrooms for both men and women. BUT we do have FREE parking and at least twenty wineries within half a mile of the airport and at least 100 wineries within 10 miles of the airport. AND this is the gateway to the beautiful town of Walla Walla, a steadily growing tourist attraction in southeastern Washington State.

Yelp
10 Reasons to fly in/out of Walla Walla: 1. You will not obtain your exercise quota for the day between the plane, baggage claim, and your car. 2. FREE parking 3. There may be one person in line at security, if you time it wrong or you are just plain unlucky. 4. FREE parking 5. Alaska Airlines is the only airline that flies in/out of Walla2, but your flight attendants will serve free beer/wine on the flights, if you are into that sort of thing. Since you are probably coming to Walla2 for the city's main tourist attraction (no, not the Pen nor the onions), starting your wine tasting vacation early will probably rate highly on your list. Bonus: your case of wine flies FREE when you leave. 6. FREE parking 7. If you live in Walla2, you will most likely know several people on the plane. 8. FREE parking 9. From your house (or hotel) to the airport, it will take 10 minutes unless you live in College Place, and then it may take 11 minutes. Just don't get caught in the non-existent one-minute rush hour traffic, no matter what the locals say. 10. FREE parking Bonus: There are very few services at the airport, but you don't need any because Walla Walla awaits.

Yelp
Being an employee of the FAA, I visit many airports, large, medium, and small. Love this place. Only commercial flights are on Horizon/Alaska Airlines to and from Seattle. The best part about it is when you leave the terminal. There is an outstanding coffee shop, Walla Walla Roasters, and 19 wineries all on airport property. Check it out.

Yelp
Walla Walla Regional Airport is a good place to fly into and out of, and also has some great ficus trees. For real, the parking is excellent and easy. Never had any issues with parking. And to top it off, when you walk inside you get to enjoy a comfortable space artistically dotted with the occasional ficus tree. I think the Port Commissioners have done a great job with the giant Onion near the baggage claim belt, and in ensuring that the space isn't devoid of ficus trees. Really I would say the Walla Walla Regional Airport is among the top 5 places in Walla Walla to see ficuses indoors, and hands down the most accessible. I would highly recommend a trip to see the ficus trees at the Walla Walla Airport, as well as the onion by the conveyor belt and the accessible and easy parking. Really top notch stuff up there.

Yelp
Probably the most incompetent TSA works I have been seen. They do not know their own rules about gels/liquid. Not only did they try throwing away my 1.5 ounce toothpaste but also don't work with TSA precheck. How does a company not recognize it's own program? Anyways, I would just fly out of pasco if I were you. Not worth the trouble.

Yelp
When you are departing from this airport, you MUST look sternly into the face of the ticket agent and ask, "Which gate?" Why? There is only one gate. Three flights in and three flights out. One gate. That's all. But visitors will often ask, "Which gate?". Oh the tourists. We're happy to welcome you to Walla Walla. And we're happy to see you off as well. This airport brags: Beyond courteous personnel, a charming and affordable Italian restaurant right in the terminal, grandma-clean facilities, safe and free parking, and less traffic and commute time than heaven itself. Six stars for being so much more than expected. Update: We have more flights! HINT: Save yourself ten hours in your car and $130 in gas and fly to Walla Walla direct from Seattle or Portland for under two hundred bucks. Enterprise will get you in a nice rental car for about $40 a day and will pick you up at the airport and drop you off.

Yelp
Having logged over 50,000 miles in airplanes this year and flying through some of the busiest airports in the US and Canada, I have to say I absolutely loved flying into Walla Walla. The airport is cute and very functional. Only flights in now are from Seattle on Horizon Airlines. To be able to walk off the plane and to the single baggage claim in under 2 minutes is a great way to start a vacation. No stress and no fuss. Flying out is just as nice. We got to the airport with 40 minutes before our flight and through the single security check into the glass holding pen where we could watch the airplane on the runway. All in all I really like this airport. It would be 6/5 stars if they had some more flights, but really you can't find much to complain about.

Yelp
Really unfriendly and unprofessional staff - also they offer absolutely no services there so if you have a problem with your ticket or anything else don't expect anything but a card with a 1-800 number shoved in your hand, a healthy dose of sarcasm and rudeness and a shove out the door because the entire staff leaves the minute the plane lifts off. One of the worst experiences I've ever had at any airport and I've flown through a majority of domestic, from jfk to south bend regional, and several international. .. so beware

Yelp
The people who work here are really friendly! Dislike the lack of food/beverages taking the early flight. Today the water/soda machine inside the holding cell was out of order. Tried with both dollars and coins. Sad face. (Yes, my first world problem.)

Yelp
this airport sucks. the plane never takes off!!!!! never fly out of walla walla regional airport. theya re unhelpful! if you fly here you will probably get delayed! if i could rate this a -100 stars i would! you suk

Vanessa W.

Yelp
Terrible service, I've been in airports where if something can be taken care of they get it done. I was there 35 minutes before the plane took off and they're was another gentleman that was there before me all we needed was our plane tickets printed and there was no one in the tsa line it would've taken 5 minutes max. They refused to do anything and the plane boarded 15 minutes before the flight left. The person working at the counter was incredibly snarky and have absolutely no help just shoved the 1 800 number in our face. I have never written a review for anything. This time I was so incredibly frustrated with the inconvenience especially when the solution was such an easy one.
