The service at Wally’s was another strong point. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and made the experience comfortable. They were attentive without being overbearing, creating a relaxed and pleasant dining atmosphere. Overall, Wally’s is a great spot for falafel and hummus lovers, with room to grow on a few other menu items. I’d definitely return for the shawarma alone!

My second time here and the food this time was a little disappointing. The first time my friends got a plate for 6 people and it was really delicious but this time my chicken shawarma plate was not that great. The pita bread was not fresh or warm and the chicken was really dry. The shawarma also needed more seasoning.

The food at Wally’s Falafel and Hummus is fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Their falafel is perfectly crispy, and the hummus is rich and creamy. I also tried the grilled chicken plate. It’s a big portion for small person like me 😂 The staff is friendly, and the service is great. While the quality is excellent, I realized the flavors just aren’t entirely my thing, which is more about personal preference than the restaurant itself. If Mediterranean food is your favorite, Wally’s is definitely worth trying!

Very big portion. I got the chicken shawarma plate with rice. The chicken was kinda dry for me. The garlic sauce that came with it was really good and made the whole plate better. When we came in, it seemed like they only had 2 people for front of house. It was difficult to grab someone and ask for extra sauce, bathroom, etc.

If you have never had Mediterranean nor seasoned food, it’s fine (still overpriced). I will write the review for anyone who has had Mediterranean food, juicy chicken, or is over 30 years old. Service: There is none. I ordered my food standing up and was prompted with a 20%, 25%, and 30% tip option BEFORE any food was eaten. We seated ourselves, got our own water, got our own utensils, and were expected to clear our table after eating. What this the tip for if there is no service? Tipping culture is already absurd, but an entire lack of any service is criminal. Overview: The interior decor was very nice, but I don’t think anything we had was made to order or anytime in the last few hours. Bland and dry was the theme for most the items. Food: the chicken shawarma plate ($16)was a pile of reheated chicken bits without a drop of moisture left. Similar to when you reheat chicken in a microwave. My hummus was good, but didn’t come with pita bread (so I added it at an additional charge). The pita bread looked like they reheated the kind you find at the store instead of the homemade pita bread restaurants have. The chicken kabob plate ($18) was FOUR CUPS of yellow rice that was so mild in flavor, it shamed real Yellow rice. The chicken kabob was juicer than the shawarma plate, but was not made fresh either. We will never return and got our hopes up because the high number of reviews made it seem like the food quality was better. We should have known better for places around a college campus. Hit up Pangea Halal Market if you want fresh and delicious Shawarma. It’s better priced and has a dramatically better quality.

Decent spot for dining especially considering the proximity to The U. The lambs chops plate is excellent. They do not offer the chops to be done according to the temperature you want. All chops come out well done. The spicy musahab chicken plate was kind of disappointing. It was very spicy which wasn't the issue for me but the chicken was very dry. Will visit again & try other entrees.

Went there because I was looking for healthy grilled food. Ordered the spicy chicken meal with hummus and couldn't have been more satisfied. The portions were huge, the taste was excellent, they price was very reasonable, and it came out in a timely manner. Definitely would recommend going there again. Everything was delicious. Only thing I would critique is the bread. It could have been a little more fresh maybe but that is literally the only complaint I could say. Overall hands-down excellent food. $-$$

If you're ever in search of a quick and delicious bite in Dinkytown, Wally's is THE place to go. The prices are comparable with the quick-service chains in the area, and the food is astronomically better. It's a chill vibe if you want to eat inside--it's a self-seating joint so you order at the counter and they give you a number to bring to your table so they know where to drop your food off. Even though it's not a table-service place, all of the staff there are amazing and super helpful; the food recommendation I got from the cashier last time I went genuinely ended up being the best thing I've eaten in my four years eating at Wally's. That aforementioned life-changing meal was the spicy musahab wrap ($9.99)--I'd tried a bite of their spicy chicken before when a friend ordered it, but I'm always a regular chicken shawarma loyalist so I's never ordered it for myself; at the cashier's recommendation, I tried the wrap this time and literally the first bite I took into the wrap alone before I even got to the filling was insane. The homemade wrap itself is SO flavorful, and the lettuce, tomato, and garlic sauce inside perfectly balance the spice of the chicken (and yes, it's satisfyingly ACTUALLY spicy! There's a note on the menu saying, "No returns for too spicy"). It's a great size for the price too, and I genuinely believe it's the best handheld you can get in Dinky (the Dirty Bird sandwich at Banh Appetit is a close second--the area has some GREAT spicy chicken options!). My go-to standard (until now) has always been the chicken shawarma plate ($13.99)--their chicken shawarma is the best I've had and is SO flavorful, and it comes with their addictive garlic sauce and your choice of a side of yellow rice, hummus, fries, or two pitas. Their rice is DELICIOUS but I picked hummus this day for a higher protein option, and it was great. It also comes with a little side salad that's always super fresh and perfectly dressed. Everything I've had here is absolutely PACKED with flavor and people with dietary needs ranging from vegetarian/vegan to gluten- or dairy-free to high-protein can all 100% find something delicious to eat here. The prices are fair and the place itself has plenty of seating--the only downside is of course finding parking in Dinky, but TOTALLY worth it. They're always pretty quick with orders, but if I know I'm ordering to go, I liked to phone my order in ahead of time (mildly cheaper than using their online ordering).

First time at Wally's and I am a fan. Customer service was great, with helpful staff that recommend their favorites and etc. I ended up getting a Wally Feast and for sure this thing feed more like 8 people, compare to the 6 people they recommend it for. Nothing better to take down the meal than a nice rice pudding. Can't wait to go back to Minnesota to try their other plates and desserts.

Yum!! My husband had someone he worked with take him here and he thought I'd like it so we stopped by for dinner before a game. It has a really attractive interior. You order your food at the counter and then they take you to be seated. We ordered the falafel plate with hummus- it was so crispy and delicious. We had the loaded fries which were a big serving but they were delicious also. We also had a chicken shawarma sandwich. They have flavorful meat. I definitely would like to go back and try some different things. We will definitely get more falafel.

I was by the U to pick up something and really needed to pick up a quick bite to eat. I hopped on Yelp and saw this place had some great reviews so I decided to stop in for takeout. The place is surprisingly pretty big inside, and they have a nice waiting area for other people like me who are ordering takeout. I went up to the front and was helped by some very nice staff. I decided to order the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich. The food was all pretty reasonably priced which is great considering they mostly serve the student population. I sat down for about 10 minutes until my sandwich was ready and then I was on my way. Finally got to take a bite of the shawarma in the car and was super impressed. This was definitely some of the best shawarma in the city. It was filled with chicken, fries, pickles, tahini, and more. The pita was the correct kind for shawarma - nice and thin. Overall, just a super delicious takeout meal. Next time in the neighborhood, this is exactly where I plan to go!

I've been a loyal customer of Wally's Falafel for years, but my recent experience was incredibly disappointing. I ordered the chicken shawarma combo with fries and a side of garlic sauce over the phone at 8:47 PM. My husband went to pick it up within 10 minutes, but when I got to the car, the order was cold and the sauce was missing. He went back inside to address the issue, and the associate told us to microwave the food. That response was completely unacceptable--if I wanted microwaved food, I'd have bought it from a grocery store. Then, to make matters worse, she touched the food with her bare hands and told us to take it. This is unhygienic and shocking. Why would we accept food that had been handled in that way? On top of this, the associate kept going in circles, bringing up irrelevant points like, "Your girlfriend ordered the food," which had absolutely nothing to do with the issue at hand. It was unprofessional and frustrating. When my husband asked for a refund or for the food to be remade, she refused both, claiming she was the supervisor and that speaking to the manager wouldn't help. We ended up leaving with no food and no refund. We've been regular customers for years, but this experience has left a bad impression, both in terms of customer service and food safety.

Updating my review with the same 5 stars, this place is still top level in every way. The spicy chicken musahab is still my favorite, as previously described, the spicy seasoned chicken lays on a bed of Mediterranean salad with all the flavors coming together. Hummus was good. Reason for the updated review, they now have MINT LEMONADE and it's on point! When I visit the Middle East, the mint lemonade slushy drink is so popular and that's my daily drink abroad. Im so glad they have it here!!

I ordered the chicken shawarma salad. The service was great. I was checked on by a few different employees. One of the managers, Freya, even recommended adding yellow rice to the salad. Amazing recommendation and made it very filling. She was super helpful and very polite. She clearly communicates my order as well. Highly recommend Wally's and would recommend bringing a friend as the meal portions are very filling!

NEVER AGAIN!!! Customers BEWARE!!! I regret going there 23 times to takeaway and dine in due to the rudest Freya and Michael the Lebanese Arabic speaking old buss boy. 6 months in Minneapolis for a bone marrow transplant for my five year old child. I chose this restaurant because it's close by to dine in and takeaway. Twenty three visits to this restaurant and my child still in recovery. I decided to take my family to eat there. An Arabia speaking Lebanese old man grilled my 7 year old son when he entered the restaurant for not speaking Arabic when my wife entered with my son. I parked the car and went inside the restaurant and my wife was telling me all about it. I said who is he to even get involved in the way I raise my child!! I even told my wife he has no rights to tell my son to speak Arabic or any other Language. We ordered the food and we sat down at our regular table and trying to keep a table of 4 seats between us and the people next to us to prevent any viruses since my son is still wearing the N95 mask. The same Arabic speaking old man came over and asked us to move to the table that seats 4 since we are four rather than the one we took for 6 people. I told him my son had a bone marrow transplant and he wears a mask so we need to stay away from people. He said what if I need a table for six people? At this point I noticed that the man is slow and doesn't understand what's going on. I said the restaurant is empty and this is where we always sit and we never had issues. Then, I told him I don't want to eat here and please cancel the order. When we stood up and decided to leave, he said it's ok it's ok you can sit there. Ten minutes later we were waiting for the food to come in, this bully looking woman came over asking us to move to the other table that seats 4 or else we cannot eat there. I said that's fine, I need you to cancel the order and we are leaving. She said ok. She went to cancel the order and then she came back saying we cannot because the food is already made. You can take it to go. In another word she is like kicking us out. I said, is the owner here and she said yes at first and then she said no. I said I don't want your food and she said we cannot refund it because it's already made. We left the restaurant and we swore to never again. The funny part is, I promoted the restaurant to all of my doctors friends and I promise to send a memo to tell everyone about my experience. Holyland, Pangeia, Marina grill and many other restaurants are much better and more welcoming from Wally's. P.S. the name of the two rude people we spoke to at the restaurant were Freya and Michael which I doubt the name is right because they are both friends and cover for one another. Michael did not cancel our order when I asked him to and as a retaliatory action, he waited until the food was done and sent us the rudest person ever saying she is a supervisor and we need to change tables. They didn't even have any consideration for the my kid who's wearing a mask and my family. They wanted the table with six chairs in an empty restaurant not sure why!!! If the restaurant was full, I would have understood their point of view but rather the place was almost empty. I am sure this a big career for Michael and Freya working as a hostess and a cashier at wally but it really isn't how this work. After we left the restaurant, My five year old kid who had the surgery told me, "I don't ever wanna come here again" that's when I knew they really screwed up and it wasn't me being over protective.

We here for lunch on a Saturday. This is a fast-food/sit down restaurant. You order first and then that will seat you at a table. That was a bit odd, so we were trying to figure out what we wanted while our children ran around. We ordered the hummus and falafel platter and cheese samosas for appetizers. Note, they said appetizers usually come out with the main meals so I asked that they come out before. I also ordered the chicken kabobs and rice and my husband got the gyro. The hummus platter was pretty big with lots of left overs. The chicken kabobs were served over a huge plate of rice. My three year old loved the chicken and kept crying for more, so that's a plus kind of.

Wally's has been a favorite of mine since my college days at U of M! I've always ordered the Chicken Schwirma Salad - it's my go-to take out salad or a comfort food. It's fresh and light - perfect for when you need a quick but satisfying bite to eat. The salad comes with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, feta, chicken & garlic sauce (on the side) covered in a very light vinaigrette. I always order the dill yogurt sauce on the side (or sub for the garlic sauce). It's the perfect light dipping sauce for every bite. The reason for the 4/5 stars is the chicken and the price. The chicken is pretty consistently dry, but since I dip it in the dill sauce I don't always notice it/care about it. The high price for the salad ($15.99) is fine with me since I usually make it two meals - but it's an extra $2 for the dill sauce, which is steep. Overall, this continues to be a comfort place for me, so I'll keep ordering.

I really don't love giving 3 star reviews. The staff was nice though! It's close to U of M's campus so a lot of college students seem to hang here. It's a large room with lots of tables to accommodate for larger groups. We ordered a few things for the table: grape leaves, chicken shawerma plate, spicy chicken shawerma plate, falafel. Some of the plates came with fries, hummus, salad, tabbouleh. Most of the food was just...okay. The chicken shawerma was dry. Grape leaves weren't the best. Some fries were bland and some were seasoned. Only the falafel was good. And the salad. Most of us thought the food was just alright. We didn't wait long for the food so that was a plus. And for the price point, the portion sizes were pretty generous. Despite all that we ordered, among 6 of us, we couldn't finish it. Not even halfway! We walked here from the hotel. So I'm not em sure how parking would be. There's parallel parking but not enough with all the construction around.

So so so good. Wally's is doing some real-deal food at a very fair price. Portions are large enough to have left overs, and they offer some different dishes than other Levantine restaurants in town. The decor feels like you're in Levant, not Dinkytown. This is counter service, but Middle East hospitality is clearly still important here. Parking can be tough, but it's worth the challenge.

One of the best Chicken Saj Shawarmas in the area. Parking is terrible. Restroom needs a key code. The competition is thin but it's still decent. Lately, every time I visit, the prices go up by $2. Now, you can't even order ahead on the phone even though it was always pay-by-phone. So what used to be a phone call from my car as I leave work to pick up a delicious $10 shawarma combo is now pull over, sign in, enter your cc details or go and wait for a $17 dollar shawarma. So bottom line is I'm looking for a new shawarma spot.

I ordered a combo meal and they instead charged me separately for the entree, fries, butter, and drink. When I pointed this out they apologized and then refused to correct it because they didn't know how. They also refused to ask a manger how to do it when I suggested it. A second time I went here has lead to a federal investigation against them which is currently pending for sexist actions on their behalf and supporting sexist employees and stereotypes. Below is the civil rights office complaint. I went to this restaurant and ordered food. The gentleman didn't know how to handle a picky order in the system, and he got a second female employee to come over to look at it. I greeted this employee how I greet all people I have seen once before but not in the last few weeks by saying, Hi. I haven't seen you in awhile. She immediately exploded off on me and was sexist towards me. She threatened me stating that because I'm a man, she would ban me from the restaurant if I sexually harassed anyone. Nobody else was treated this way and it was a directed attack specifically against me. She discriminated against me for being a man, and placed gender stereotypes onto me treating me as if I was a sexual predator. She refused to correct the transaction and then I asked to see the manager. Earlier on, I had the option to use her to take my order, and instead of choosing her, I choose the other gentleman at the counter. This is prior proof that I had no intentions of interacting with her in any way to begin with. I explained to the female manager that spoke with me what had happened. She made it very apparent that she wasn't going to do anything about it. For some reason the manager pointed out that they have cameras with audio. I told her if that's the case and she didn't believe me, we could simply watch the video. The manager refused to do this and instead said she was going to support her employees sexist actions. Not once did she ever truly consider my complaint. She was just trying get rid of me as best she could through feigned customer service. The manager then tried to change the subject and made a false claim that I was supposedly taking video of workers at the store, and that the same employee had made a complaint several months prior. I pointed out to her that this was absurd, and that if we again looked at the videos, that this claim would be proven incorrect. I have receipts showing I leave the restaurant and shop in the meantime. The few times I stayed, I sat far over in the waiting area surfing social media like other customers facing away from the kitchen or not using my phone at all. Knowing they had been caught, the manager refused to communicate further. She trespassed me taking even further retaliatory action in support of the businesses and employees sexist actions. I said I would be taking legal action and would like copies of the records, names of the people involved, and proof that a prior complaint was made by the employee to file legal suit. They refused. So they can't hide evidence and lie further, I then recorded a video of me informing them that i expect all of these records to be kept for legal suit, and then left.

Twelve years ago, when I first visited Wally's, it was a different place. It was smaller, cheaper and better. Today it's fine, but I had to bump it down a star. Three stars is NOT a bad review in my book; it just means a place is perfectly average. The falafel sandwich ($7) is vegan by default but didn't wow me. The pita was good (soft, thin and cloth-like), but the falafel pieces themselves lacked zing. They drowned the wrap in tahini, which made for a mess; next time I'll tell them to use less. The french fries ($5 for a side) were really good: starchy, large and satisfying. Lastly, I thought the zaatar manakeesh ($1.50; vegan by default) was interesting, but didn't come together. It's essentially a piece of bread covered in zaatar and olive oil and then baked. The problem here was that it was pre-made and had been sitting in a deli case, drying out for many hours. Re-baking it made it chewy and did nothing for the dryness. This would have been great had it been made fresh on-the-spot. Wally's used to offer foule (a fava bean dish) and lentil soup, but it no longer seems to. For decent and cheap Middle Eastern food, Wally's is still fine. That said, if you want better falafel, go to Shish Cafe in St. Paul or Loon Deli in Minneapolis.

I ordered the thin bread chicken garlic pickle saj. Chicken and garlic and pickle thin bread saj sandwich .... This is a civilized version of it because you barely taste the garlic so order more garlic cream if you want to go wild and Medieval. I tried the Gyro And it was not fat. The salad was lemony. I guess I would like it however too strong for your teeth enamel. Babe working outside. The place was clean. Restrooms were updated and clean. Service was good. Tables are not cramped inside. A lot of natural light and beautiful decoration.

Wally Sakallah, from Gaza, makes some seriously good hot sauce. It's a good time to support this delish biz.

let's start with the food quality. as a Middle Eastern, finding good quality food to match the flavor and quality like back home is hard. luckily I would it at Wally's. the quality of food exceeded my expectations. the food is fresh and made with love. the staff was very helpful and polite and I received my food fairly quickly. the dinning area and restrooms are super clean. I was shocked to notice how clean the tables and the floor is every time dine in. the atmosphere is very good as well. laid back. not noisy at all. this place is kids and family friendly yet it also great for couple or even dinning alone. I stop there at least twice a week and I love it. the prices are very reasonable. the portions are decent and the flavor is beyond mind blowing. plan a trip to them. so worth it. you will thank me later

Best falafel sandwich in town, hands down. Chicken shawarma is also done the authentic way here, in the saj (shrāk) bread. Very good casual spot for any time of day

This was the vote-getter on our brief side stop in Dinkytown for lunch! It totally fits the vibe of the street and the area and I wouldn't hesitate to stop in for some falafel! The portions are generous and the bathrooms (coded entry) are immaculate and kind of weirdly fancy! I had the chicken shawarma and rice plate; the rice was good, the chicken just a little dried out but flavorful. Next time I'd do the sandwich as the garlic sauce was applied for you rather than trying to spread the thick butter-consistency sauce over your chicken on the plate. One daughter had the vegetarian plate and one the hummus and falafel - both loved their lunches. Tap water in small cups is free for the taking; bus your own table.

I've been hearing from friends about Wally's and I'm so glad to have finally tried it!! Lots of the menu items sounded good but I decided for the first time to try the beef shawarma!! The beef was seasoned nicely And the wrap was nice and soft. My friends ordered some chili sauce and garlic sauce on the side so I did the same and loved the sauces. It just added that extra kick.

As the name says it, this place serves middle eastern food. Was graving a little gyro sandwich so I stopped by. This place has a pretty big menu with a lot of varieties and combos. The price is good for college campus since most college students are broke. The portion is big as well. I've been here a couple times to fulfill my cravings. Here you order at the counter, they will give you a number and will bring you the food. So it's like 1/2 self serve I guess? As you can see it was a huge sandwich. I only ate half of it. Gyro sandwich: the only complaint I have is, there was A LOT of sauce on it. Like overflowing sauce. But don't worry, underneath is a lot of veggies and meat. I think next time I order this, I will ask for sauce on the side and just pour on as I eat it. Some people maybe like it soaked in sauce so it's personal preference. Overall, it was a good experience. If you're in for a quick, cheap, middle eastern food, then stop by for a taste.

Wally's was a go-to place in college, and since moving back to the cities I was happy to see that it was still just as good and a reliable place for a yummy meal. I always order the tabouleh salad and a chicken schwarma. Delicious every time!

I LOVE Wally's Falafel and Hummus! Their food is wonderful and plentiful. I also really like their expanded space. The decor is nice. It is a go to for me for sure!

A friend and I grabbed some Wally's to go before a meeting and it was really delicious and pretty affordable for how much food we got. I grabbed the Falafel Deluxe sandwich (the same as falafel sandwich with some extra veggies inside) and it was flavorful and kept me really full. I grabbed a side of hummus as well which came with one pita bread but I grabbed another pita because it was a lot of hummus! I honestly should have gotten 2 extra pitas because it was so much hummus but I saved it and had the extra pita and the rest of the humus for lunch the next day - it kept really well.

Insanely delicious food at great prices (it has to be affordable to U of M students, after all). Since the big renovation, the owners have been able to recreate an attractive Middle Eastern decor. The only downside is that finding parking can be a bother at peak times, if you're traveling by car.

Delicious spot on campus. Order at the counter and take a seat with your number or wait to be called in the waiting area if you want it to go. The portions are good for the price you pay. The gyro plate could feed two moderately hungry folks. Great stop!

This place was delicious!! I now have a go to spot for a enjoyable falafel sandwich. The tahini was very tasty,veggies were fresh, the baklava was amazing . I will pass on fries next time, they were boring crinkle cut with a season-less seasoning. However there was other side options on the menu that I look forward to trying. Casual dining experience, fast service and plenty of seating. On street meter parking or a close parking ramp.

I had people coming over to my house last night and I needed to have something ready for dinner within the hour. I decided to pick Wally's since I know they have good food and my guests would enjoy a good Middle Eastern meal. I went to the website to order online to save time, when I clicked on Order Online option it took me through one of those third party apps. When I looked up the menu, the menu was different from the one in the store (I have been to Wally's several times and I know what to order from there). The dish I was trying to order was one of the dishes that I had ordered before. It is a family size dish (for 6 people) and it usually comes with Kufta, Kabob, Chicken Kabob, Lamb, Falafel, and many other delicious food. I usually pay around $89 + Tax for this order. When I looked online the menu was a bit different, but I placed the order for 6 and paid $88 in total including tax. I noticed the difference in price, but it was not a big difference from what I pay in store. When I picked up the order, it was a totally different dish. The dish I received had only Falafel, Gyro meat, Chicken Shawarma and some rice, it was not even close to what I had in mind. When I brought this up with the associate, she pointed to the menu and told me that I ordered the chicken meal for 5 and not the Grilled meal for 6. I asked her to change the order and I can pay the difference she said it's too late now. I have already paid online of course, so I couldn't like refuse to take the order. When I looked closer on the menu, the order that she pointed out was for only $55 dollars. I told her that I paid almost $90 dollars online and requested to get refunded the difference. She refused to refund me after checking with the manager, they claimed that the third party app take the extra fee and not the restaurant. From experience, I know this is not true. Usually the online menu for every restaurant matches the one in the store and the third party app collects their money from the restaurant for providing them the service, not from the clients. This was a very frustrating experience overall. The lying and lack of customer service was what bothered me the most. People make mistakes, but not owning your mistakes and trying to fix it for your customers or even apologizing for it, is the worst.

Delicious food, fast service! Wally's was a favorite spot when we were in college. Wish they would open a second location further away from the U of M! Falafel is amazing and chicken shawarma sandwich is chef's kiss.

Wally's is the best middle eastern food outside of heavily populated Arab/Israeli areas. The Shawarma is grilled to perfection, both chicken and beef shawarma. The hummus is traditional, garlicky, lemony, firm, and a drizzle of tahini. Served with cucumber and tomato as it should be. Cheese pie/samosa is ok, halumi fill would be more delicious. The hot sauce (the one you have to pay extra for) is OFF THE CHAIN! Vibes: this is the middle of the U of M campus, soooo very studenty, very busy, but the food is consistant, delicious, and the staff is very nice and welcoming. Bonus there seems to be a prayer area towards the back for my Muslim fam. Photos: I was honestly so excited to eat it i completely forgot to take pics, maybe next time lol.

This is the second time I have come to this restaurant. Last time , the staff were so unprofessional and rude. This time , I said I will have a better experience. Unfortunately, I just met the owner!!! Guess what, she is more rude than the staff themselves. So sad when you have rude team: owners and staff!!!

Bad service I was waiting for a Falafel wrap then said "oh we have to remake it" .. they took my number to process some form of refund.

I've take so many people here because the falafel is so good! If you're on campus, definitely check it out. They have a great variety on their menu so there's something for everyone. The place is big enough for large groups and they have to go containers by the cutlery so you can take a box at your leisure.

Great food as always, flavors are on point and spicy items are actually spicy. Always grab some when im in hungry and in the area

As is much of dinkytown, this restaurant is staffed by students. You order at the front cashier and then seat yourself ensuring that the placard provided is visible. Food comes out very quickly! I ordered the gyro plate and my husband ordered a few shawarmas. My gyro plate portion was HUGE! I don't fancy greens but unfortunately wasn't able to substituted my side salad but it came with a heap of gyro meat and hefty portion of rice. It was salty but incredibly tasty! My husband really enjoyed his sandwiches as well!

Wally's is 5 star all day long and Wally is a heck of a good guy as well! The soups are amazing and let's be brutally honest, Minnesota has many "Soup Days" during the year. The humus is in a class by itself.

Such a great local spot with reasonable prices, huge portions and excellent food. Particularly awesome were the chicken shawarma sandwich, the gyro sandwich (so big!) and the falafels. Hummus was also good and the tabbouleh was on point. Fast and friendly. So good.

I used to be a fan pre pandemic. Today I ordered a gyro sandwich, with the plan to eat the sandwich outside. The photo illustrates what Wally's considers a gyro sandwich. As you can see, it's a huge, messy salad. A sandwich involves bread - and indeed, some deep excavation reveals a pita in the depths of the salad. However, this is impossible to eat with your hands, unless you fancy looking like a toddler with sauce in all the places after your meal. In my view, this is not a sandwich, and it is very very far from what I expected. You should not have to use utensils to eat a sandwich. So my plan to eat a sandwich outside was thwarted by Wally's misleading menu labeling. The taste of the "gyro sandwich" is fine. Finally, I note that the new price for adding fries and a can of soda to the order is $4.50. I know inflation is a thing, but ouch.

terrible customer service. refused to accommodate food allergy & refused to refund order as well. never going back to this place

Absolutely excellent. A must-try if you're on the university of Minnesota-twin cities campus or near the area. I loved the spicy musahab wrap that I got. Such vibrant colors too! The picture I included was not edited whatsoever!

Got the hummus el sham salad. It was pretty good and the portion was huge, but I would've preferred a little less pita croutons and more lettuce/tomatoes because the whole thing was pretty oily. Would probably order again though if I were craving something on the heavier side.

For the most part, the service was good. It was just the food. I tried the chicken Shawarma with rice. The chicken was so dry (could not eat it) and unseasoned, and the rice was oily. Only thing that I liked was the fries. I really had high hopes for this place. I loved the inside though.

Wally's is definitely my go to place in Dinkytown! I know parking is usually the most annoying thing in Dinkytown because it is usually daily metered parking only but the nice thing about Wally's is that they now have a FREE PARKING LOT IN THE BACK for customers (enter through Burrito Luco side). My partner and I usually order the samosas (both the cheese and veggie ones are good), 1/2 chicken plate and spicy chicken plate with yellow rice. The desserts are also great, so we get it once in a while. Honestly- one thing that I appreciate about Wally's is the portion size! One plate is more than enough for two, we usually order more than we need to so we could eat the leftovers for lunch the next day or dinner later that night. Only thing is sometimes the chicken does get too dry, they could use more flavor and the rice seems oily at times but overall still delicious! Evenings could get pretty busy and crowded as it's a popular spot for college students but I think they do a good job keeping it clean. As for service- just average, young somewhat friendly college students who are just trying to get by- I've been there so I can't complain.

Love Wally's! The homemade hummus with pita bread, chicken shawarma (salad or sandwich), falafel, baklava, coconut hareesa... Always fresh. I've never been disappointed. If you are in the Dinky Town area, you have to go. You won't be disappointed!

Walk up to the counter and order and then grab yourself a seat. Dishes coming out of the kitchen looked delicious and portions huge. I ordered the gyro plate with fries. All meals come with a side salad. Fries were plentiful, but cold. Gyro just ok. Chicken Kabob and Mixed Shawarma plate were added to the table, along with hummus. Plenty of pita bread given. Overall, the meal was enjoyed for the moment, but 15 minutes after eating, our stomachs felt the pain. Yes...I remembered those reviews that mentioned the same thing. Not quite sure if dairy is added to the food. That's the explanation we like to give to put ourselves at ease. I will not be back....not with the stomach pains that follow. Good luck!
